Fantastic value, a deeply satisfying single malt whisky. While up in Scotland over the New Year, I chanced upon a booklet, 'Scottish Field Whisky Awards 2019' The nominees were categorised as Whisky's under £50; from £50 to £100 and finally Whisky's over £100. Entries ranged from as little as £15 per bottle up to £550, from distilleries all over Scotland. A total of 54 Whisky's were sampled by the judging panel of ten people. The winner in the Category 'Under £50' was this wonderful whisky 'Glen Dronach 12 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky' What came initially as something as a surprise to me is that it also took the 'Whisky of the Year' award as well - hence my interest in purchasing, for the first time, a bottle of this lovely single malt. The Judge's, in my opinion, were not wrong in voting this the best! I hope that after posting this review I can still get another bottle before it sells out !

For once I agree with Jim Murray on a sherried malt! This is stunning, and I'm a peat monster fan. Stupendous nose and initial palate of just about every fruit and sweet thing you'd find in a cookie jar, so much going on! I'm comparing it to Glenfarclas 12 and there is no comparison (sorry Jim, but you're wrong on that one). Finish is medium and wonderfully complex, the whole thing is just so vibrant. I'm even getting cocoa in the finish, a hint ever so subtle of a bit of smoke amongst all the vanilla, cherries, peach slices, raisins dark chocolate to name just a few! Buy it again? You bet! This and A'bundah are the two absolutely must have sherry finished malts for me

I have brought or tried most of the whiskies on Amazon for under £40 and plenty over that price as well. This is the number 1 out of all of them under £40Not by a mile there are some almost as good whiskies pretty darn close to this (Benromach, Deanston, Glen Scotia, Glengoyne) but if i could choose only one bottle under £40 this is what i would choose.Beautifully complex, amazing nose, rich and lasting finish and perfectly presented. This does not last long when opened as it draws you to it like a magnet when you are having a dram.Well done Glendronach , if only more distilliers followed your lead. Buy this as a gift and the reciepent will be very very happy.

This was recommended to me as I am favourable to non peaty, Sherry Cask whisky. It is an incredible whisky. Very smooth, lovely Sherry taste. A bit of spice to it.My only grumble with this whisky would be the price. Aberlour Abunadh is in the same price bracket and if I had the choice between the two there’s no competition. Aberlour Abunadh is better value for money. But if this whisky was £35 a bottle I would happily stock one or two of these permanently in my whisky cupboard.

2 years ago we had a whisky tasting and this one stayed with me. Depth of flavour, smooth like silk and moreish. If you like this try:Glenfarclas - cask strength (with water though otherwise akin to drinking fire)My favourite - Glengoyne - cask strength (again with a little water to take the power out)Aberlour - Abundah (likely spelt wrong)Again, this whisky is a must have for your collection given how good it is. True value for money.

Extraordinarily balanced. I've a preference for older single malts, but this 12 year old truly realizes the potential of its class. This is very high quality single malt. Attention to detail is evident. Well refined, and full of character at 43%, this is one for the connoisseurs. I will no doubt be buying this again. It is supplied very well packaged to ensure it reaches you in A1 condition, which also it is pleasing to say is very prompt.

I was in the Pot Still in Glasgow and wanted a fruity Sherry Cask whisky around 12 years in age. They selected this for me. It was that bloody good that I just had to order a bottle. It's fantastic.I hope to purchase their 18 for a little more character, but with the same great flavour.Highly recommended.I normally like my Aberlour, Glenfarclas etc so if you like these, try this for something a tad sweeter and more fruity.

This is a top class whisky, matured in Oloroso sherry casks. It gives it a dark colour and deep rich flavour. I hated whisky until I tried this. This is now one of my absolute favourite drinks. I tried buying in my local Whisky Shop but they were out if stock. Bought on Amazon, saving £7 and received free delivery the very next day, and I am not on Prime. I will certainly return for more in the (probably near) future.

I have been lucky enough to stay at the distillery house on a few occasions with friends and have tried almost all of the beautiful offerings from this great brand (as a tasting exercise of course !)In my opinion if you like Sherried whisky as I do then the 12 year old original is pound for pound the best money can buy and punches well above its weight and age category .... can’t see past it !

Having tried numerous single malts over the last couple of years (glenmorangie 10,glenfiddich 12,aberlour abunadh, royal lochangar 12,monkey shoulder, glengoyne 12,macallan 12 & highland park 12 I was really looking forward to this based on reviews.Unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations.Glengoyne 12 is my favourite taste vs cost equation.I plan to try glengoyne 10 & aberlour 12 next.

This is a remarkable whisky and for me has opened up a whole new world of sherry cask malts. Beautiful stuff and best poured, add a teaspoon or two of bottled water, then swirl and smell and taste after at least 20 mins. Gave 4 stars on the grounds that there is always something better around the corner. Highly recommended.

I tend to drink a lot of decent malt at home and try to go for the £40 products as the more expensive brands disappear so quickly that my pension gets seriously stretched. This has everything going for it that I love in malt whisky and has replaced Balvenie 14 year old carribean as my go to drink at the current time.

For the sub £50 Sherry bomb category you will struggle to get better value for money....generally £35-£40 and you can't go too far wrong. Hopefully the relatively new owners (Brown Foreman of Jack Daniels fame) won't spoil the brand by cheapening the product and taking short cuts.......only time will tell.

I am a Glenkinchie whisky fan and was looking for another same level product as a "different" flavour. After some researches found this one and really loved it.It is a typical Sherry cask whisky with soft notes and smooth degustation. It opens easily on the nose so makes the drink a memorable one.

This will be a thank you gift for my best man. Was delighted to find it as remember drinking this with him over a decade ago, and we loved the stuff. Haven't seen this on the shelves so was mighty chuffed to find it and I know that he will relish it. Arrived speedily and in excellent condition.
