I'm a big fan of Leatherman's range of multitools - I have several of them - and I've never really investigated the competition. But a recent bike breakdown that left me stranded for a simple problem which could have been fixed in seconds with a pair of pliers led me to search for the smallest and lightest set of pliers I could carry alongside my normal bike tools, and I came across the Vise. This is a very small, very light, and relatively cheap tool. But it is absolutely perfect for my needs. The tool is tiny when folded - only 2" long - but the pliers, while obviously small, are sturdy and functional, with no obvious flex in them and a nice sprung action. OK, you're not going to turn a seized 10mm nut with them, but for small gripping jobs, they do the job just fine. You also get two short (non-locking) blades, one straight and one serrated (both comfortably smaller than the legal carry threshold in the UK), a very small bottle opener (which I wasn't entirely convinced by), a couple of screwdrivers and a file. The whole thing is smaller than most modern electronic car keys, and can easily be carried on a key ring.I ended up buying two - one for each bike. They'll never replace my bigger Leatherman tools, but as the smallest possible useful tool you can keep with you at all times, they are brilliant.

This is my fiirst Gerber ...I like what I see ...I have no pressing needs for this other than to call on it as and when.It feels pretty rough and ready in terms of finesse and buid quality - when compared to, say a, Victorinox which just have a quallity and sickness about them, however it does feel rugid for it's size.I've pictured it along with my Victorinox 58mm Classic SD ALOX (a potentially sweet load out that takes little space to carry) and the Gerber is the same length. On first impressions everything - has a utilitry vibe to it and that's good. The main attraction of course being the plliers. They can bend paper clips etc and seem good, can take a good bite on my finger.Of the rest nothing is exactly exceptional - but it will all serve purpose and importantly if you work within the tools parameters. If your requiring something special of anything you'd be better buying that tool as an individual. But let's be real for a mo' ...The realy winner here, is the price point, the size and having these tools at hand on the fly.(Actually a viable option in the house as well!)If that all works for you then the Gerber Vise is a solid and recommend buy for me.Very happy.Thank you!

I am the kind of person who (perhaps somewhat sadly?!) likes to feel prepared for anything. I ordered one of these because I wanted a very small and portable multi-tool which would fit easily into a pocket - preferably the watch pocket of a pair of jeans, and which I could maybe even take on an aeroplane. It is surprising to see a Gerber product at this price, and while one can see that the quality of the build is not quite as robust as their larger offerings, it is still completely strong enough to put up with even quite challenging treatment. In fact, It has exceeded my expectations for robustness, quality and utility. The various tools are of high quality, and are quite useable (the bottle opener takes a little getting used to, but it works fine once you've worked it out). The 2 cutting blades are excellent, and I am particularly fond of the little cross-head screwdriver which - much to my surprise - works like a dream.I have been using mine for a week now, and I am delighted... so delighted that I have just taken delivery of another!I will certainly be giving these as Christmas presents this year.

I have owned and used this tool for 18 months for so many little jobs on the go it's hard to work out how I got on without one. As long as you don't loose it when putting it down while doing something else, seems to be what I did, put it down lost it, so now I am buying another . One thing that would be nice if they did one of these in a bright colour so people like me can find it when I put it down at random in muddy dirty areas. Another thing, once people know you have this tool on you all the time they will be for ever asking yo for use of a knife, screwdriver or pliers.

Awesome little tool, so handy. Small enough to live in the small jeans pocket, I forget I’m even carrying it. Despite the small size, it feels seriously well made. I’ve had cheaper versions of this type of tool, but this one is well worth the money. All of the tools can be selected with ease, there’s no struggle to get the tools out. All tools feel very sturdy, no wobbling at all. Only small reservation, would be nice to have a small scissor tool instead of one of the two knives, but that’s just personal. Overall, this is a lovely little tool and I can highly recommend it

Neat keyring multitool with screwdrivers, bottle/can openers and 2 blades - one serrated. The smallest screwdriver will manage mini slotted screws found on glasses, cameras etc. The pliers do have a wire cutting section, but probably too small to be practical. As the name suggests, they are really just for gripping. The quality is as you'd expect from Gerber. Only downside is that the small size (only 2.5 inches folded) means that it's easy to get a nip from the tools as you close them, or if they fold back in during use.

this thing is awesome. Bought one a few years ago as a kit with a torch ( torch lame and long dead )However, found this the best little folding knife ever. lost it on a bag search in Eurodisney. The guy had a random poke around in my bag and found this, he had an awkward moment as i pleaded with him, but rules are rules and I'm the twat for forgetting it was in my rucksack. My point, best little combo tool iv had, if you want a bigger thing and out camping go for it . For your daily family problems, this is it.

A great little tool, particularly considering the price, but I wouldn't expect too much of it. It's great for an EDC in an urban environment, but if you work outdoors I'd suggest something a lot more substantial. The inclusion of pliers, glasses screwdriver, etc, make it more useful than a standard pocket knife, but my main complaint is that the knife blade came almost completely blunt - if you plan to EDC then you'll need to put in some time sharpening that blade.

This is the only multi-tool that is actually small and light enough for me to carry everywhere. I have larger ones that were fine on military service or for around the house, but they bang around in a pocket and I don't wear a belt. This tool slips easily into a cargo pocket and is hardly noticeable. It is fine for light weight emergency jobs such as cutting binder twine, tightening a screw or nut. So good i bought my sister one for her handbag!

A great multi tool but the advertised lifetime warranty is not honoured. The keyring attachment broke off after 4 months and the tool is not as useful without it as it can easily ne lost if not on your keys. The main Gerber website does not work, another site redirects you to another site telling you to contact the place you bought the too. Amazon have a cut off date for returns that has now passed.

What can I say it's the right price great value for what it is. Plus it's done everything I've asked of it. But please remember its size so don't look at it as able to challenge large multi tools so get the right size for the day your going on. Day by the beach or going shopping then the vise is great. But if going camping or rambling then have a large one with maybe the vise as backup in your bag.

This tiny tool can be carried in a pocket and forgotten about - until you need it. Then it quickly becomes an indispensable ally.Quality of materials and build are very good considering the price. The price is about right for something you may lose and need to replace. The attachment ring is in a daft place - meaning you struggle to use the knife - but other than that I see no problems.

This isn't a full sized multitool, so if that's what your expecting you are going to be disappointed.I EDC a mini tool because one occasionally needs to pick up small objects, change a vehicle fuse or handle something I really don't want to pick up with my hands.Has two blades. One plain, one serrated. Couple of screwdrivers and a bottle opener. Useful enough in a pinch.Happy with it.

This thing is tiny but really does what it says on the tin. Good quality and clever design and for cyclists the important thing is that it is only 70g and hardly takes up any space. It's obviously not going to have the strength and heft of full-size tools but I carry it with a compact set of allen keys and reckon I'd be able to manage most roadside repairs. Hasn't let me down thus far.

I’ve found other Gerber tools to be up to the job and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s delivered in the factory packaging, it’s comfortable in the hand and reassuringly robust. When working it’s small enough to fit in my pocket without getting in the way. The little pliers grip well and are good for lighter tasks. Very functional.
