I have a few leatherman tools and for me the rebar is my favourite. Some people don't like the fact that there are no tools accessible without opening up the tool. I personally like that all the tools are enclosed within the handles of the tool, because it results in a nice sized tool that does not look threatening when pulled out in front of people and feels nice in the hand. It has a nice selection of tools but has no scissors which may put some people off, I personally am not bothered by this. I bought my first Rebar about 6 years ago but it was stolen from me. I paid about £35 for it, however that was for a tool with adamaged box.I have kept an eye on leatherman tools over the last few years and am quite shocked at how expensive they have become, a Squirt is currently listed on Amazon for £49.99. When it came to replacing my Rebar I was reluctant to pay £80 up for a new, so I decided to take the plunge when I saw this at £63. I am pleased that I have a new Rebar, but was unsure at first about the black colour as my last one was a shiny stainless steel one. Now I really like the black think it's better looking than the stainless steel one, my only problem is now I don't want to scratch it. My last Rebar was carried on me most days, including to work on building sites with me, so I have a real dilemma, do I use it and get it scratched, or do I just take it out on the odd occasion. I'm very happy with my purchase and I'm keeping it, but I think that is a question you should ask yourself before buying it, hope this helps make up your mind

The Leatherman Rebar was delivered earlier than stated, so I'm happy with that. I've had quite a few cheaper versions of a multi-tool, I also have a SAK Champ that goes everywhere with me because it's excellent. The Rebar is a quality product and just amazingly sharp out of the box so beware... I've compared it to my SAK which has everything I would need, but there is a great difference. The Rebar is larger and so it will do the the heavier work better. The quality of both knives are second to none in their own right. I could have gone for the Wave but it doesn't do anything more than the Rebar and I don't need the single handed use for the multi-tool so I can't see where the Wave warrants the much higher price tag.The Rebar is just an awesome piece of kit and the build quality to match, The tool lock is very nice and the multi-tool looks absolutely bomb proof. The pliers although a little stiff out of the box, are just a work of art to be fair. The extra length of the knife blades and file make a lot of difference over my SAK and are a bonus for me. I did have choices and almost went for the Sidekick, but decided on the Rebar because it's going to be perfect in the field. Anyone being put off because there aren't any external tools, don't be' because in my mind this is safe and extremely good quality. I would definitely recommend this multi-tool.

I have bought quite a number of different Leatherman tools over the years, from the original Super Tool to the Micra, and I think the Rebar is my favourite - not too big, not too small, and a nearly perfect tool set. The only tool I don't have much use for is the serrated blade - a pair of scissors would be better. All the tools lock, including the blades, which concerns some people in relation to UK knife law. Personally, I think a lock mechanism is an essential safety feature on a tool which will be used hard in working situations - just make sure you have a legitimate reason to be carrying it.I have Rebars in both stainless and black. As with all Leatherman tools, they are very solidly built and should last a lifetime unless you abuse them. Two points specifically about the black version. As other reviewers have noted, it comes with some sort of greasy coating which will turn your hands black - I recommend giving it a thorough wipe with a degreasing agent such as lighter fluid before use. And this may only apply to the one that I got, but the black Rebar is the only Leatherman I've ever got which didn't have a perfectly sharp knife blade right out of the box - the grind on mine was a bit uneven and rolled to one side. This is easily fixed if you know how to sharpen knives, but I've docked a star for that.

Initial impressions are of a superb full-sized, mid-priced Leatherman multi-tool. Specifically I chose a tool with inboard tools as that's a neater and cleaner carry and I have no need for rapid deployment.I like the fact that it has a full sized i.e. easily sharpened, straight edged blade and a seperate serrated blade. The wire-cutting blades have a neat shear (and are replaceable).Only scissors are missing, something I was aware of and may be better provided by a small SAK.Note that the blades lock so not legal UK EDC.I prefer lanyard carry (over pocket clip or belt pouch carry) but the Rebar lanyard ring is rather ugly, not sleek like the tool. The ring is at the hinge end of the main blade,so inconvenient when the blade is deployed with closed handles. The Rebar by-pass design wire cutters are replaceable, great for heavy duty cutting. The cutters pass my cable tie and stranded copper conductor tests, quite demanding tests for by-pass cutters.Great build quality. Only twice the cost of "diddy" multi-tools but incomparably better. Heavier of course so not for every pocket.

I had a Leatherman BLAST for about 9/10 years since it first came out in 2004. I broke the screwdriver on it recently and so returned it and due to the Blast not being made anymore i was given the REBAR as a replacement.Their 25 Year Guarantee really is that... no questions or fuss just a straight swap. The Rebar is of the same excellent quality that all Leathermans' appear to be. It comes with locking blades, replaceable snips. It also has the usuals... Blades (One serated), saw, screwdrivers, bottle openers, file, it even has a handy wire strippers located at the bottom of the bottle opener and more. The two blades are EXTREMELY sharp so be carefull. The only reason i didn't give 5 stars is dueto the fact that the BLAST had a handy scissors and micro screwdriver which i used regularly.I can honestly say i use this on a daily basis whether i'm at home or in work and it is in my pocket at all times. It's heavy enough but not too heavy that you cant get used to carrying it.

Excellent weight - tool choice ratio, lighter than Supertool and also cheaper, good quality made in USAAll tools are very stiff at first and may need oiling plus this is an older design that has tool clamping problem (for example you open a screwdriver and most other tools open with it), still in this price range it is a good value for money. One of the very few models that feature replaceable cable cutter blades making it a very long lasting companion. From my own experience this is like an entry level tool and alternative tools are the Supertool300 and the Surge that also features replaceable cutter blades and Surge has scissors.Bought it as a xmas gift as it comes with a nice leather pouch.Justa note: all tools and blades are lockingI strongly suggest these accessories for it too to make it a pro tool for every job:

My wife purchased a Leatherman for my over a year ago when we we in the USA. Since then it has been used very frequently and is a really nice piece of equipment to have to hand. I purchased this one for a 21st birthday present, for somebody who is an electrician and wax again really impressed when it arrived. It was well received as a gift and I am sure it will be used probably more than mine is and will give years of service. There are cheaper multi tools on the market, but for what is the price of a reasonable meal or diesel in the your car you can have one of these, which puts the value in perspective. As a final note they are cheaper in the USA.

Great quality multitool at a reasonable price. Knives came sharp enough out of the box and everything has a sturdy feel about it. The replaceable wire cutters are a massive improvement on my previous Leatherman, Tools are lockable so no chance of them closing on you when you're using them. Very pleased overall and would definitely recommend to anyone. Obviously not the cheapest multitool in the world but the overall quality, including a leather, snap close belt sheath, make it worth every penny.

Yes, you could buy a cheap multi-tool, but how long will it last? And more importantly, will it have the sheer quality feel of a genuine Leatherman such as this? Instead, buy one of these and congratulate youself on having got a discount of the price of the cheap tool that you might have had to replace before long, or simply had to discard as not being up to the job. And you will also have the satisfaction of handling a craftsman-made precision instrument that is a pleasure to use.

This is a replacement for the one I lost. I have had a Leatherman for a LONG time (over 10 years for the 1st one). These have so many uses and I when I lost the old one, I was gutted. This the closest match I could find to the old one. Now, I sits in a place where I know where it is ALL the time. Just be careful with those blades, they are VERY sharpe and stay sharpe too. Thats what I like about Leathermans, the blades stay sharpe and if you look after them, they look after you.

I love this multi tool, it's strong, sturdy, a great selection of quality tools, knife is very sharp, the saw is very impressive for its size, and it holds up to heavy work, I have really cranked down on it with the screwdrivers, and all tools are still secure, with no sign of buckling or coming loose, I have had mine about 2 years now and use it almost daily, and love that it comes with a quality leather holder that I put on my belt. I would recommend this product to anyone.

My first multi-tool and all I would say is before buying be aware that there are many different versions of the Leatherman. I'm very happy with my choice. One more thing if you do go ahead and buy one, be aware that the blades are razor sharp. I wasn't quite prepared for that and while looking through the different tools I managed to do the typical thing and cut myself. It weren't a bad cut, but it could very well easily have been. 5/5

21.3.2020

Being a person in an engineering field this multi-tool has been genuinely fantastic from say one.I'll admit that the blades have dulled ever so slightly but that's my own fault for not sharpening them tbh.The very tip of the blade with the slight serrations did break off but again, that was due to me lending it to someone who used it incorrectly, so my fault again tbh.Other than that, it's a rugged, and very versatile multitool!

The Rebar is just another typical Leatherman Product...... I cant really write much of a review as if you are not already familiar with the Leatherman brand, anything I will post here wont mean Jack to you.I use my Rebar for my EDC at work, I was told not to use my Sidekick anymore as it looked a little too "Aggressive" for my working environment with the outboard blades being too easily accessable. (I work on a UK government site)

29.1.2016

Very good quality as expected, very good pliers with replaceable cutting blades of very high quality steel, as is the main blade. The quality of the file is a massive step down from the one I had on my original supertool - the metal is much cheaper and the file has far less bite. 3d Philips screwdriver is well shaped and grips very well in the screw head. Leatherman always honour the 25 year guarantee too. Expensive, of course.
