IMPORTANT: Owing to blades that lock in the open position, having this multi-tool with you in a public place without good reason is an offence under Section 139 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988.This Leatherman multi-tool is a useful bit of kit for anyone who needs, well, multiple tools. The ability to have a sharp knife, serrated knife (saw), file, pliers, wire cutters and screwdriver in one small package make this great for work; a bottle opener makes post-work remarkably great too!The Knife and saw are made of 420HC stainless steel (the HC standing for high carbon) which is very easy to sharpen, but does not hold an edge as well as some other grades of stainless. Nevertheless, the quality of the knife is pretty good and can (and should) be maintained with a basic double-sided whetstone. This can prevent stress-related chipping of the blade. The multi-tool comes with a branded black nylon pouch with a belt loop that allows you to wear the tool in a place where you can get to it easily. This pouch fits belts up to two inches, allowing wearers of duty belts (such as police officers, paramedics, army cadets, etc.) to thread it onto their appointments. The main blades (knife and saw) have locking mechanisms on them that securely hold them in place during use to prevent them closing unintentionally. In my opinion, this makes use of these blades much safer than equivalent non-folding types. However, these same locking mechanisms make the Leatherman unsuitable for your everyday carry (known as EDC) knives. Under UK law, the only knives you are allowed to carry routinely are folding pocket knives with a cutting edge of three inches or less and that do not have a locking mechanism. All that said, if you are intending to use the multi-tool as part of your work or sport then you have a good reason to carry it. You would have to be able to demonstrate that good reason to a constable (for example by wearing an electrician’s uniform, being a police officer or paramedic, or by being halfway up a mountain in hiking gear). When travelling to or from your work or sport, you would have to put the tool in a place such as the bottom of your rucksack or boot of your car to show that you were making the tool as inaccessible as possible. This would give a police officer the ability to use his power of discretion, thus avoiding being nicked! All in all, this is a great tool for those who have good reason to use it. I have mine for work and use it often. For those who want an everyday carry knife, I’m afraid you’ll have to pass this one up and stick to a traditional non-locking folding knife.

Had this 2yrs now and - Can't fault it had a lot of cheaper types and they don't even come in the same league as this brute. The knife and saw on the outside is a nice touch saves a lot of messing about knife is razor sharp and the saw is aggressive I like it , plus they lock saves my fingers happy days. The pliers are top class, used them for removing nuts and Bolts cutting fencing wire up to around 4mm, bending beading and thin sheet metal and a ton of other stuff. The screwdrivers save me looking for one 90% of the time. Can opener works well including the wire stripper notch which is sharp and will cut standard connectors too. Serrated blade cuts strapping, sacks rope and materials like a beast. Can't say I really use the file much itself ,the small ruler on file is okay for spacing panel pins ect - the tip is a handy little flat point for electrical type screws. The lanyard ring is a must when working at height ect and the pouch and pocket clip are quality gear. Great tool for work around the house keep in the car or camping and great for a carp fisherman like myself too ! It will take a lot of punishment and keep on kicking. Best thing I've ever brought ! seriously next to the dog it's a man's best friend !!!

after reading all the reviews and watching youtube videos, i decided i could not justify speading over 50pounds on a tool, when this was available, arrived in normal mega fast time with prime, i cannot believe the quality of this tool for 34pounds, it came with a nylon sheath and a very good stainless steel carabiner tool, that has a bottle opener and a hex hole that accepts diy screwbits!!!! just put a standard bit holder in up to flange then use any bit you want in it, hex, flat bit, philips bit its great little tool, amazing price as i have seen this little carabiner standalone for around 9pounds when you take that into account your getting multi tool for about 25 quid!!!!!!! . tool is great, knife and saw are accessible from closed tool, everything else you open tool to access. quality overall is very very good and well finished great work leatherman and thanks amazon

I bought this as I am about to begin training for the Police and wanted a multi tool so I would be prepared for ny situation needing such a tool. I initially thought about a Swiss Army Knife but my budget was able to stretch a little further so then considered either a Gerber or a Leathermans. I got some advice at a local Outdoors shop where they suggested the Gerber due to it being cheaper and of similar quality. I then checked out some online reviews where I found that the similar model by Gerber has a flaw with the needle point plyers whereby the handles open out too wide to get a good grip. The Amazon price for the Leathermans is considerably cheaper than my local shop so I plumped for it.It arrived quickly nd is great quality, heavy, well built, the tools are sharp it also comes with a very good quality pouch and a Carbiner.Buy this, you won't be disappointed

Not as well engineered as previous Leatherman tools I have owned, needle nose plier jaws are out of alignment and a bit of play as well, so not very suitable for more intricate jobs, it looks as though this has been a returned item that I've been sent from Amazon, not too happy with this purchase.Update - just noticed that the cutting edges of the pliers have a gap between them so are totally useless for cutting wire etc., Amazon are now going to replace this item for me, I'll update the review when I have this.Update#2 - ok, just received this item this afternoon, everything is spot on so I'm going to give this four stars,I was probably one of the unlucky few to land a faulty item as I own a few of these bad boys and all are excellent quality.

i use this day in day out when working on a construction site. its a great tool for the money however, after a couple of years of hard use there is some 'plier play'. what i mean by this is when i close the pliers the tips dont line up anymore and when the tool is closed the two halfs move slightly (may just need to be tightened up im not sure). this tool has been through alot so im not too fussed as it still works well. i wouldnt recommend using the small flathead at the tip of the file as the only time i used mine it sheared off, as a whole i think its a great tool for a everyday multitool. prehaps not the strongest but well worth the money.(certainly worth the money i paid for it £25 two and a half years ago :D )

I bought this as a replacement for a cheaper multi-tool that had worn out, and although expensive, the difference is really noticeable. The build quality is much higher; the action seems more solid and I haven't yet had the need, but the mechanism looks more readily adjustable for if and when the joints start to go slack through use. I've gotten most use out of the knife, which comes seriously sharp; or at least much sharper than the old one.Cons: The selection of tools on this particular model is modest; make sure to pick the tool that best meets your needs. My main objective on this one was price, and since it's one of the less expensive models, there is a corresponding sliding scale of features.

im a big fan of leatherman and this is an amazing deal on an amazing item, i purchased this because my last leatherman wingman got used to the point of failure but in that time did everything i needed it to do and held up remarkably keeping in mind how often i used it, the only thing i have to say is i paid almost 10 pounds extra for next day delivery but it has been 2 days since this new leatherman was ordered and it has not arrived yet, i am looking forward to it but if it is anything like the wingman which is kind of like the sidekicks brother then its going to be a near perfect product especially for the price!

It is very a strong and durable. It doesn't feel like it will easily break or be damaged. It is easy to use with one handed opening of the knife and saw. It folds up small and compact and can easily fit into most pockets and pouches.I would of given it 5 stars but it could use a couple more tools and the leather sleeve to put it in us too small. All in all it is very good for the money and useful for all activities around the house, hiking, camping and many more.

At the price I paid this offers good value for money. This is probably my 5th Leatherman purchase over the years, I have a Wave and a Skeletool at the moment and this was purchased as a gift for a friend. My only negative comment is regarding the basic nature of the screwdrivers...…...both the Wave and Skeletool have interchangeable screwdriver and allen key bits whereas this has only fixed units like a traditional Swiss army knife!

The best multi-tool I've ever had (and I've had and lost quite a few); well made and worth the price. There's even a small eyelet to fix a lanyard, so I won't drop this one over the side of the boat. I use the Leatherman all the time and it has saved the day on more than occasion. One thing to remember; wash it in fresh water if you use the Leatherman in the sea, or it will rust in front of your eyes.

dont expect it to be as good as the wave its a great "starter" multi tool but if ur gonna hard use then get a bigger tool, while good for light use this tool isnt capable of handling really tough jobs, that being said why not use ur warranty buy it wreck it and leatherman will replace it! i bought one and it works well for my needs but also have the supertool for heavier work, all in a good value tool

Bought this for my dad as a Christmas present, he is quiet the handy man, so thought that this would make a good present. I was not disappointed when it arrived, this is the first leatherman that I’ve bought, I’ve heard about the quality of leathermans, but was not disappointed when this arrived, very well made and quite satisfying clicking and locking of the tools when you open and close them.

As you'd expect, it's a sturdy piece of craftsmanship with tools which are quality items and function well. It's also great to have a sharp handy knife which won't flip back and chop off bits of fingers. The snag is that it makes this otherwise brilliant EDC combo illegal to have on street walkabouts in the UK. So, this stays at work and my Swiss Army Mechanic accompanies me around town.

full stars for this excellent compact multitool. superb quality as usual with a good selection of usable tools and 2 locking blades, one plain for slicing and one serrated for cutting rope etc. pliers are also a good size and very resistant to bending under pressure .all with a nice leather slip and caribiner for keeping handy. pity its a present for canoe mates 40 th ..........
