Cole, you'll love this knife! Lol.The Knife itself is perfect IMO, I wouldn't change anything about it. It comes with a decent edge from the factory but isn't razor sharp by any means. A few runs across a course then a fine sharpener changes all that and it is exactly what you want. (Works great with the BG Field Sharpener). The Handle is sweet too, it comes with 45 inches of orange 550 Paracord incorporated into the Full Tang, which can be used for a number of things. The Handle also has 5 carefully placed holes built in to lash the knife to a Staff/Pole to form a Spear (like the LMF II or the BG Ultimates). The best part is the Sheath...when the knife is inserted you will hear the blade LOCK into it and get that feeling of security. The knife has no play inside the sheath and will not fall out on its own. The Sheath also has some pretty cool new Gerber graphics on it, which I love. It also has plenty of mounting options, you'll notice in the pictures that there are 6 holes around the edge of the Sheath, there are 2 holes filled in with screws, the screws can be removed and relocated with a 2.5mm hex tool and it makes the Sheath wearable and comfortable for lefty's and righty's. I believe mine came set up for a lefty...which was weird, but I quickly changed that over and it is now set up righty. When you switch the belt clip to the other side, it actually covers the Bear Grylls logo, and makes it more discrete for those people who like the knife but don't like the BG name all over it...(Sorry Bear). The "grey" part in the middle of the outside of the Sheath that sort of looks like the knife blade...is a nice grippy rubber, which is what rests against your belt or backpack, providing traction and making it more secure on your body. The grippy rubber is on both sides so if you switch the clip over you'll still get that feature. It also comes with the BG Pocket Survival Guide, which Gerber has also incorporated a way to carry the pocket guide inside the clip on the sheath, making the whole thing a very well made and complete knife. I love this thing and am considering buying another for my g/f or just for a backup.

This is a great knife to use anywhere, if your camping, hiking, or just running around in the woods doing bush craft, this blade cannot be beat for its quality and for its price.First off the blade:The blade is a clip-point and its full tang, so it's super strong and has a nice sharp point. Let me tell you, this blade was SHARP out the box, mine was in fact hair cutting sharp, so I didn't bother sharpening it. The blade also has some nice orange 550 paracord on the handle for grip, you also can change the paracord to any color you want it to be. Many people believe that a paracorde handle has no grip to it, but I assure you, this knife isn't going to fall out of you hand, it has GREAT grip to it!Next, the sheath:This is one of the best and coolest knife sheaths I have. First off, it's made of some type of plastic, but don't let the made in china badge fool you, this is super duper tough plastic. It's never going to break wear, or chip on you, it's extremely tough and well built. Also another cool thing about this sheath is that you can change the position on how you want to hold your knife on your belt, that's cool too! Lastly, when you put your knife in the sheath, be sure you give it a little push in order to compleatly lock your knife in, and trust me, this blade is LOCKED in tigh! In order to get the knife out, you got to give it a bit of a tug!Lastly conclution:All in all this knife is great! Very sharp, lightweight, and not too big and bulky. The sheath is great too, and is very comfortable when you were it on your belt. Why it gave it 5 stars you might ask? Well, for the quality and toughness of the knife and sheath, this price is literally unbeatable. In fact, I would say its better than some smith and Wesson and other well known companies knifes for the same price! If you seriously are looking for a great, reliable, strong knife, look no further, this knife is great and it's perfect for any out door activity! If I were you, you should buy this, you won't be sorry!

First, the knife: I needed something a bit smaller and of less weight for light day hiking than my full size survival knife. This knife fit thebill. It has a light, but solid full tang construction that is surprisingly comfortable in the hand. I didn't expect a paracord knife to becomfortable, but I'm glad I took the chance.I haven't taken this out for a day hike yet, but after sharpenning up the blade edge a bit, I did some some feathering and quick hackinga way at an old tree branch and this knife handled it pretty well. If you're looking for a light weight slim low profile knife that offers theabiltity handle light to medium duty work, I don't think you'll be disappointed with this one.The sheath: I'm not a big fan of the sheath.Although it does the job that it's supposed to do by keeping the knife in place, I really wouldhave preferred a more low profile sheath. It's light weight and you won't notice it even when added to the weight of the knife, but still it's a littlebulkier in my pack than I would like. Also because of the knife's smaller size, I would have preferred a sheath with a belt clip rather thana loop. This is just a matter of preference.Overall - I gave the Gerber Bear Grylls Paracord Knife 4 out of 5 stars, because I liked its full tang construction, sharp edge, low profile andcomfort in the hand. I took off one star because I felt the sheath had a bulky profile and I didn't like the belt loop. However, I did like the fact that the belt loop could be easily removed and repositioned on either side of the sheath and upside down or right side up.

This knife has vexed me. My Paracord knife arrived as dull as could be. Could not cut paper and couldn't even cut the paracord used to wrap handle. Took me weeks to get a decent edge on it and Im still not fully satisfied with the edge. The blade material used is 5Cr15MoV Chinese stainless steel. The durability seems fine, the Titanium coating seems to be very good. The paracord used for wrap was not bad quality but in my opinion wrapped too loosely. First thing I did was rewrap mine in Coyote Brown 550 Paracord. The fit in my hand is quite nice and seems well balancedThis knife is horrible for firestarting out of the box. The coating prevents me from getting even a single spark from my Swedish firesteel. The spine has rounded angle edges instead of a 90deg edge. According to some videos on Youtube you can remove the coating and it sparks just fine. I have not resorted to this yet. I added a Swedish fire steel striker to my paracord at end of handle and will use that to strike if need be.The included plastic sheath is pretty decent and allows re-configuring to change carry style. Earlier models of the sheath allowed owners to reconfigure sheath so the Bear Grylls logo was not showing. The design was changed so its shows on both sides now.Overall its a good little knife for my get home bag.

Great knife. Obviously full tang and holds a decent edge. Kind of sharp out of the box but needs honing if you want a razor edge.drop point with scandi ish grind is easy to sharpen. You can hold the handle close to the blade for fine carving and personally even when using this in torrential rain it didn't slip out of my hand. Not quite sure which steel this is, I don't know much about steel tbh, but this seems pretty strong without being brittle and has taken a fair amount of abuse. Edge hasn't rolled or anything like that. Like any knife, if you misuse it I'm sure it'll snap but I've been rough with this and it's held up.Orange paracord is quite bright when you buy it.But after working with it in the field for a while it dulls down nicely. Still easy to find when you inevitably drop it in the grass.Personally, the sheath works fine for me. Blade is secure and doesn't rattle. I like the way you can unscrew the belt loop and change the carry style. (Drop, vertical and horizontal. My only quibble with the sheath is that the knife will only go in one way but once you wear the sheath a certain way you get used to putting. The knife in one way.Overall if you want a reliable everyday knife that will do what you ask of it with out being too flashy or big. This one fits the bill.

I got this about a year ago, and after a number of trips in various weather etc. I have to say I really love it!I have a couple of camping knives and since I don't do "car" camping, but actually hiking I need to be smart about what I pack or don't. This knife has become my overall favorite of any of the others I have, simply because it is most often in that "just right" category. I have other knives that probably outperform it for certain applications, but either they are much larger (and heavier) or maybe are a bit smaller or just don't seem as versatile. So sure, my larger heavy-duty katana style blade would be a lot better for emergency survival (and could even do some wood chopping if needed),this is the one that I actually carry on me. The other one I usually have stowed in my pack for "just in case."This one holds an edge very well, is the perfect size for any number of uses, and the hard sheath is comfortable to wear all day and is really handy in the way it's a horizontal configuration. I wondered about the grip being paracord, but actually that works really well too. If you actually needed to "use" the cord (and thus sacrifice the grip) I'm not sure how the blade would perform then, but obviously it's for emergencies only anyway.

I was really skeptical about buying anything of Gerber made products,as i had a few dogs along the way ,but DAVE FROM ULTIMATE SURVIVAL TIPS on you tube [ check it out great info to be found there]highly recommended it, gave it 5 stars even, so i gave it a try,THIS THING IS GREAT!! FULL TANG,with a knot on the end for breaking glass, back of spine approx. 1/4 inch thick as thick as the Gerber ultimate knife, 5 feet of PARACORD drop point ,came very sharp, and easy to sharpen.THE case is easy to change position TO: handle up ,handle down, side carry, and can even move it to hide the BG on front. Holes are positioned to unwrap PARACORD to use knife as a spear [SOMETHING I WOULD NEVER RECCOMMED ITS A KNIFE SHARPEN A STICK WITH IT FOR A SPEAR LESS CHANCE OF BREAKING YOUR KNIFE]BUT YOU CAN DO IT! I HAVE USED THIS KNIFE FOR A WHILE NOW IT IS A GREAT BUY!!on Amazon it sells for about 28.00/to 30.00 yes it is made in china :[ my one complaint, why is it not made in the USA plant??? i don't know but the quality control does its job well IN THE Case of this knife, great for, camping, hunting, fishing, and bushcrafting .it is my EDC knife i don't feel complete without it anymore.ERIC HILL/AKA TECNOTROG

Perfect size knife! The post end of the blade is thick and strong enough to take a beating for hammering. However it is possible to lose your grip while holding it and cut yourself because of the lack of slip protection. The sheath is solid and fully protects the knife and YOU in case of any accidental exposure. I do find the swivel portion on the sheath to become loose and occasional tightening is required.I used this knife in the field a few times and its held up to heavy abuse. I was able to hammer tool and split wood with it easily without damaging the blade or any portion of the knife. I used it to open up and fillet fish twice and worked perfect. The orange power cord does absorb moisture so keep that in mind when cutting fish or any other animals. The loopholes on the knife make it easily attachable for makeshift spear making, which I did try but did not use it for anything.Overall it's a great knife especially for ankle access. I love Gerber gear (but not a bear grylls fan). The knife is great for multiple functions and is highly durable. I will be in WV mountains for Ops training and this will be my secondary knife. Hoped this review helped.

This is an excellent knife, and I would give it the highest rating of 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that the sheath was really too tight...This knife itself has a great blade, in a compact form factor for carrying, and the sheath is also quite versatile in that it allows for both horizontal and vertical carry. However, out-of-the-box, the sheath was too tight -- It was so tight that the knife was firmly stuck in the sheath the first time I tried to holster it. I couldn't pull it out at all with my bare hands. Loosening the screws didn't reduce the tension enough to get the knife out. In order to pull the knife out, I had to clamp down the sheath and sprayed some silicone lubricant around the blade, and then carefully wiggle-and-pull the handle with force in order to avoid injuring or cutting myself... Subsequently, to make the knife easier to unholster without getting it stuck frequently, I had to use a small precision file to carefully sand down the inside gripping edges of the sheath, enough to get the grip/retention just right.Overall, this is a great compact survival knife, and I'm very happy to have it in my collection.

This is a solid and well crafted little knife, worthy of five stars. Two reviewers complained the paracord handle is only tested to hold 550lb and that after cleaning fish or game or when wet the paracord stays wet and smelly, but if you seriously camp, hunt or hike and only take the 45" of paracord on this knife you shouldn't be out there. You should know better. This handle can also be rewrapped any number of times with paracord (upgrade it to 750 or 850lb. cordage if you like) after fishing or hunting trips. But this little knife does a great job and holds its edge much much better than those two reviewers indicated. In fact this little bear (no pun intended) is a great general purpose camp, fish and game knife. It feathers smalls branches and can be used to cut pitch-filled blisters from trees where small branches were, for fires. It also cuts cordage and veggies really well. It isn't in the class with the Grylls Ulltimate Pro knife, the LMF II or Kabar and it isn't meant to be. The big survival knives are for more demanding work. This knife has an altogether different purpose, but it will last a long long time. Enough said...

Normally i avoid the Bear Grylls hyped up Gerber products. They unfortunately have a tendency, in my opinion, to fail under extended heavy use. Seeing this one was full tang, one piece of metal, i decided to take a chance. First off, personally I wont even consider a fixed blade that isnt full tang. This knife is paracord wrapped, i found the grip a little lacking and rewrapped mine with my own cord and a bit thicker, probably was able to get around 6ft on there. The sheathe is nice, and the belt clip can be remounted to accomodate either horizontal or vertical mounting. The knife is a good size for finer bushcraft tasks, adequate for skinning and the skeleton design lends itself very well to lash the blade to a pole for producing a makeshift spear. When i purchase an outdoor product i look for items that have multiple uses while taking minimal space. This knife fits that bill quit well. I reccomned this as a back up and bushcraft knife. I dont think you'll be disappointed.

I had already owned the small fixed blade knife that Bear put a while ago and I found it to be just as useful as the larger knives. The only problem was with the sheath. I like to carry my knives on my backpack strap so I can grab it easliy. The problem with the sheath was that the knife would fall out all the time and I had to tape the knife to the sheath. With this new knife which is bacally modelled after the small fixed blade knife it has an awesome sheath that you can use a muitlple of ways. It also has a paracord handle that can use in survivial situaitons, but the only thing is you have to have more paracord to replace it. It is a good strong knife and I have used it numberous times in the Florida swamps and it held up nicely. With the orange paracord, it is easy to see if you drop in the woods. the blade has kept it's edge even after all the crap I put it through. I highly recommend it to campers and hikers.

I am not an avid camper, hiker, or survivalist. I do enjoy bird watching and need an unobtrusive fixed blade knife not only for field work, but for maintaining my back yard feeders and garden. It is very important that the knife is easy to sharpen, holds an edge (I hate a dull knife), and is designed to work as a knife. This knife is not a piece of art. This knife fills the bill of being a knife. It cuts. It digs in the dirt. It cuts open fertilizer and bird seed bags. In short, it does what I need it to do. I especially like the sheath. It can be set-up to carry the knife in any fashion, even upside down. I especially like the way it easily clips to my belt and stays secure. The only thing I didn't like was the orange wrapping. I re-wrapped my knife with Olivedrab 550lb parachute cord.

This was my first paracord knife and I have to say I was impressed. I read through most of the reviews and knew what to expect and was still surprised by how natural this knife feels in my hand.A few things mentioned in other reviews:- The knife was not very sharp out of the package, but a few swipes across a sharpener did the trick.- The locking sheath keeps this knife from going anywhere and the belt loop is easily removed/replaced with the 2 2.5mm hex bolts. When reattaching the loop to cover the orange logo, I had to make sure I attached the loop to the middle holes. Using the top holes will tighten up the opening of the sheath itself.- Replacing the paracord with your own can yield several more inches available to you when you need it.On my first attempt I wrapped some

Please note there is not a serrated section on the top of the blade. It's just a ribbed section for better grip. I like that it came with a little survival guide booklet. I removed the paracord and re-wrapped it with a slightly longer piece in a quick-release pattern. This made the handle a little thicker which felt more secure. The blade was wicked sharp at first but dulled quickly. This may be easily fixed by sharpening, I'm going to try that soon. One of the best features is the versatility of the sheath. As long as u have the knife facing the right direction, it clicks into the sheath and is very secure. There are two screws holding a belt loop attachment onto it.These can be easily removed and the belt loop rotated. This lets you wear it horizontally or vertically.
