I was on the verge of returning my Edge 820 on account of the irritatingly awful touchscreen performance of the device then I happened upon this device. It was worth a last ditch attempt to make the Edge 820 work which is otherwise a good device, this transforms the cycle computer and allows a whole new dimension of usage. Allowing you to scroll through the data pages safely without having to take your hands of the bars. It also the added bonus of a customisable key to allow you to shortcut directly to specific screens (map, elevation, compass screens etc). One minor niggle is that I never ever use a lap button and would rather like to be able to customise the lap key on the remote, alas I have little to no hope this will ever become possible but it would be nice.Apart from this it is quite expensive for what it is but has saved my Edge 820 purchase so I guess it was worth it. It loses 1 star due to these minor issues and because of the underlying reason that I had to buy it to overcome an issue with a significantly expensive piece of hardware I already purchased from Garmin.

A completely unneeded, yet utterly essential button for my Edge 1000 - especially now it's cold and wet and I've got big gloves on. Friends are 'stabbing' and 'swiping' at their screens, while I deftly move between screens without removing a hand from the safety of my bars. I like the programmable button option allowing me to jump straight to (in my case) the map screen - great when you're not necessarily following a plotted route but want to review the route ahead quickly. The people that don't have one go 'Pah!' and the people that have one go 'Ah!'... Go figure.

My Edge 820 touch screen doesn't work with winter gloves hence this purchase. One button scrolls through screens (hold to reverse), another can be customised to show map screen, elevation screen, turn on backlight or start/stop the timer. The 3rd does laps only (would prefer it was also customisable).I mounted mine on my hybrid with straight bars using the supplied MTB bracket. I had to cut down the rubber spacer to close the hinge enough to be able to screw it together. I’ll use the supplied rubber “O” ring mount for my drop-bar bike.

I keep telling people i control my hidden motor with it. Otherwise an essential dongle when you ride fast or when touring. Think how many times you put yourself at risk trying to swipe your screen / press some fiddly buttons with only one hand steering. You'll save battery during night rights switching the backlight on at will for 10 seconds only when you press a button. The only downfall is when you don't use it during a ride for appx 30min -1h my Garmin 810 stops responding to button presses - but i'll blame the main unit for that.

Once you get it half tucked under the brake hood you can ride tops, hoods and drops without it interfering with your hand position.Buttons only really accessible when riding on the hoods but so much better than riding one handed. Scrolling through all the data screens at your own pace makes the data you want easy to find. The programmable button has plenty of options. It seems a bit big at first but once you get it positioned it's fine.520 always connects instantly.

I have the remote control smaller presented .. the big advantage is that you intuitively catch the button that you want to use. Small customary phase and a key selectable, which should effect this. The first time the facility was set up on the Edge 1000 and was a children's game. Simply press a button to turn on; The Garmin Edge has successfully established the connection within seconds. I have mine mounted on the handlebar within reach of my left thumb, so no need to release grip on bars (I have seen them mounted on he stem!). A really good idea but you have to click the buttons in just the right way and to begin with I spent a lot of time checking to see whether the screen had changed. Consistent with Garmin, a good idea but rather clunky and needs development.

This is a great gadget and saves taking your eyes off the road.It is definitely in the "don't need it but once you got it you don't know how you did without it" camp.High quality product. It comes with a quarter turn mount and a quality handlebar mount. First time to pair was slow but seems good now. I can move it between bikes

Indispensable. Should be supplied as standard with the Garmin Edge. I dumped the clumsy, ugly Garmin mount and instead, used black Sugru to fit my remote tidily to the inner side of my brake lever - where the remote buttons are comfortably at my fingertips.

Very handy addition. It's one of those things you think you don't need and can get by without, until you have one and then you wonder how you managed without it. Makes using the Garmin edge whilst riding so much easier.

The Garmin edge remote saves moving hands of the bars to change the page, it also gets rid of the problems when cycling in wet weather as your not leaving a mess on the edges screen every time you want to change page.

I bought the remote for my Edge520. The operation of the heads during the training was very painstaking. The remote works great. Value for money Thumbs up. I can only recommend.

No more reaching to the screen , simply mount this remote as I did near my hand grip. Great feature is you can mount the remote so your most used button is right by you.

This gadget makes it safer to flick through the pages of the Edge 1000. Easy to set up and use, the only downside is the cost.

Good addition to 810 and gets well usedA little intermittent sometimes but noting out the ordinary for a garmin device
