This Sky HD remote control is identical to the one supplied with my Amstrad Sky+ HD box. It is also manufactured by Universal Electronics BV in Holland like my original - not by Philips - and is very high quality and excellent value for less than a tenner! Delivered very promptly by Amazon's seller Buyme.This remote will also control a standard Sky+ box, and is similarly styled but slightly smaller than the remotes normally provided with those boxes. All the previous Sky remote controls I have owned, whether for Digiboxes or Sky+, have by default also controlled Sony brand TVs - this one did not and I had to programme it manually. Owners of other brand TVs probably know how to do this already but Sony owners may not have had to do it before.

After 2-years of using the original remote some of the buttons just gave up requiring a hard press to get anything to work so I decided it was time to replace. Checked the well-known auction site and there are lots there but very few in original packaging so you don't really know what you are getting. Decided in the end to go with Amazon as you know what you are getting and that it would be the original item.Pricing was good (same as direct from Sky) but knew how quickly Amazon would despatch and deliver so went with them. Delivery was very quick but the item arrived in a huge (16") box for a remote! Suspect this was down to the fact the item came in a blister type pack which also included 2 x batteries but what is wrong with a jiffy bag?

I purchased this in April 2012, to replace the supplied SkyHD remote, which lasted just under a year.It's just a standard silver / grey SkyHD remote - not a great deal to say about it, aside from the fact that it has far outlasted the supplied unit. The build quality just feels a little better than the remote that came with our box. The letters / numbers have remained intact too, whereas those on the supplied unit wore away after around 9 months. A pair of Duracell Ultra batteries that were installed when purchased are still going.The only reason that I've gone for 4 stars, rather than 5 is price - the remote I purchased from Amazon Marketplace was around half the price usually seen in the high-street /

I ourchased this item through Amazon.co.uk. The supplier MyMemory despatched the item the next day after ordering. The item arrived well in time and very well packed. The inclusion of two AA Duracell batteries makes set up easy - nothing more to buy. There are no instructions included with the pack about setting up for TV control, but the purchaser is directed to Sky's on-line code checker to get the necessary information. If you have the code already then it is quick to set the remote up. An important thing is to start with the TV ON before putting in the code. The sequence on the remote is:Press TV buttonHold down Select and Red buttons together for 2 seconds (red light flashes twice)Press

I ordered this remote control as my original remote had been overused. The keys had worn out. I didn't realise how much till I got the new one. A few hours after ordering the newcremote I had second thoughts. Technology is not my forte. I worried that I wouldnt be able to program a new remote. I subscribe to Amazon prime which has saved me a fortune. You should all look into subscribing. Anyway I was really scared that I wouldn't be able to program the new remote. When it came I put in the batteries and it worked with no programming. I was really shocked but relieved that no programming was needed. Hurrah for Amazon. You really should join you will save a fortune. I'm so glad I joined as I have saved so much.

The remote control is great, especially if you have the NEWER Sky Multi room box (the one that doesn't record,) as you don't have extra buttons that aren't required.However, and this is where the negative reviewers have gotten it wrong, this remote needs to be REPROGRAMMED for whichever box you have, (this isn't explained in the instruction manual.) Which is just as simple as programming it to operate your TV, (which is in the manual.) Just follow the instructions below and it will operate ANY Sky box:1 Press "TV"2 Press and hold "Select" and "Yellow" together until red led in remote end flashes twice, if it doesn't flash twice then the remote cannot be reprogrammed (clone or too old)3 Press "0" to operate a standard box,

It arrived promptly and well packaged .... and it was definitely MUCH cheaper than other websites or SKY itself. Luckily I had checked with a Professional TV Fitter first and they said before purchasing make sure it is a Sky PLUS controller as there are different types ... seems obvious with hindsight - but I may have got it wrong without that advice - as there is no checking procedure when making the order.I didn't know that there is a more complex method of setting up the controller with the Sky Plus Box once the batteries have been out for more than 10 minutes - so it took a phonecall to SKY to sort it out. But that's perhaps the fault of SKY rather than the supplier of the Remote Controller?

Easy to set up, majority of buttons/controls worked straight out of box only the volume/mute buttons did not operate. Used the Sky remote set up web link supplied in box with the remote, then had to locate Rev code situated under remote battery cover and identify make of TV, (did not require TV model no.), which then produced a list of 4 digit codes. Pressed TV button on remote + red button at same time, remote red light light (at top of remote), flashed twice, entered the first 4 digit code on list and "bingo" volume and mute buttons worked immediately. It is not as daunting as this may sound. I only gave 3 stars for "value for money" as millions of these must have been manufactured/sold which should have brought the current selling cost well below £20,

The controller arrived on time very well packaged.However, there is no REV Number showing in the battery compartment and the instruction manual inside does not include 'Accoustic Solutions' in the manufactures list - we have 2 of these. Despite following the complete Sky Customer Help instructions on the screen, I was unable to program the remote.Finally, as the cardboard packing states that it contains 'the latest Sky remote control Software', I had a guess at REV 9 which is the highest REV Number shown on the Help screens (the replaced controller was REV 8 but selecting REV 8 didn't work) - selecting REV 9 worked when I inserted the manufacturers code from the old (replaced )controller.Everything

This remote control arrived within two days of ordering ( free super saver delivery )and i am very happy about this item i just purchased so much so i have just ordered another one,they are spot on, no glitches with the buttons or anything else,you do not get batteries with this but who cares at this price,once batteries are inserted it works straight away without having to insert codes.I have seen this remote on Currys website at £27.99 for the same version ( rev 9 )so i think i have a decent bargain here,i have seen cheaper versions on Amazon but was put off by one or two of the reviews complaining of glitchy buttons so all in all i think i got a good buy and don't forget to read reviews on

After the physical torture our (I & my brother) older sky remote control put us through, we were willing to try ANYTHING, (anything, but contact Sky & go through their 'fire-dancing' drill), that might end its "reign of hell". Came across this product, decided to have a go...& EUREKAaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! The savior is HERE!!! (Get the picture I'm painting?)I LOoooooooVvvvvEeeeeeee it!!!! We can pause, play, rewind, fast-forward, change channels easily...ayayayayaya! You guys won't understand our joy!!! And it's so cheap too! Aaaahhhhh!!! Bought this to replace original sky remote which had seen out its last days of over use and abuse! Worked well with Sky+ (standard def (white) box). Now upgraded to Sky+HD 1TB box and it also works fine with that too! Haven't used the black remote that came with my new sky box. May as well wear this one out first then move onto the black one.One slightly negative comment although not really a deal breaker, the battery cover feels slightly loose. Doesn't seem to have any effect on functionallity and it is only slightly loose fitting. Other than that this is a fantastic and cheap replacement for an aging sky remote. Good service arrived quickly. No box, packaged in bubble wrap with a short instruction sheet.

A perfectly good replacement to the inevitably worn out one. For us, it was the 'down' button that went, and whilst we morned the death of our trusty companion the replacement proved to be much more pleasing to press. Compared to our old one there is a much more definite feel about each button press that might prove to be a reassurance that this newer model is something of an improvement. It doesn't feature the rubberised battery casing that many will agree provides a better grip in the hand, but the payoff to that is that the remote is much lighter for it.Ideally, with the rubber battery casing it would make a five-star, like-for-like replacement. I was surprised at the quality and accuracy of the remote, it's great. First I've had two official sky remotes in just under 5 years when I last upgraded to my current HD box. Each remote lasted just over 2 years. I refused to pay Sky's exorbitant price of about £25 for a third one so after looking on Amazon I found this. It is not an official Sky remote, but I can say it it's in everything but name and price. The build quality and feel is equal and it's actually slightly more responsive than my old official one. No sticking buttons thay some other after market remotes seem to suffer from I've had it just over a month so can't comment on it's longevity but at £6 it could last just over 6 months

My kids battered our other sky remote and completely mashed the buttons, I know they wear out over time but jeez they really did wreck it. Imagine the frustration of standing directly in front of the box mashing the buttons and getting no response?!Imagine trying to scroll up or down and mashing the button but nothing happens, then all of a sudden it works and scrolls too far, then it stops again and you cant scroll back!!!!!! arrrrggggghhhhhhSo we now have 2 remotes, one for me and one for the kids. Trust me it will change your life and make watching tv a pleasure again, just make sure the kids dont touch your one.
