I've been a training instructor for 13 years and have only just bought one of these devices. How on earth have I lasted for so long? A recent course at a customer location put me in a crowded classroom where I was having to step over cables and trolleys (yes, trolleys) to get to the only spot my laptop could be placed in order to press a key to move to the next slide. At the end of the week I decided to buy a wireless presenter. It arrives in one of those nasty plastic sealed clamshell packages, but Logitech have highlighted a perforated area where you can easily gain access to the goodies within (why does nobody else do that?) Once inside the presenter reveals itself to be a very nice size - easily pocketable, and pleasant to hold - with some nice details. The buttons (laser pointer, back, forwards, start / end slide show, toggle blank screen) are all indented so you can find your way from button to button without looking (the forward button also has a tiny raised plastic dot too), and there is an on / off switch on the left side. Batteries are included and already fitted (2 x AAA batteries - Duracell are supplied) and there is also a neoprene rubber case to protect the pointer. Finally there is a slide-out USB adapter at the bottom of the pointer which acts as the receiver. Plug this into your computer, the driver is installed, and within seconds you are ready to go.It works wonderfully well. I tend to wander around the classroom a lot (maybe my next purchase should be a pedometer so I can see just how far I walk in a day) and the device has a tremendous range. The laser pointer also works nicely, a clear red dot appearing on the wall or the screen if you wish to use it.Is there anything I don't like about it? If I was to nit-pick there are a couple of things. Firstly the USB key could be lost, and this would presumably render the device useless unless Logitech offer replacements. Secondly, once the USB key is removed from the device the edges of the slot can be felt in your hand, making it not quite as nice to hold any more, but this is only a small issue. I'm also wondering what would happen if somebody in the next classroom to me had the same model - could they interfere with each other?Logitech also make a different model - the R800 - which costs twice as much but has twice the range, a green laser (woo!) and programmable vibrating alerts, so you can get the controller to buzz in your hand to indicate that you have five minutes of the allocated time left etc. but personally I felt that these features were rather unnecessary and didn't warrant the price. For my needs the R400 is perfect. So if you regularly use PowerPoint and the like to run presentations and are sick of having to dash to your desk to press a button in order to show the next slide this is a must. Highly recommended.

This is an excellent device for a great price. Do bear in mind there are other presentation remotes out there, costing nearly 5x the price of this, so any comments on build quality being poor are rather silly and unjustified.I've used this on numerous occasions in different scenario's, from teaching students to doing product presentations and this device has not let me down once. I'm still on the original batteries which came with the remote, and the battery life is still full. My only gripe with this product is that the laser could be a bit more powerful, but it is a minor issue. The overall functionality of this product more than justifies this little issue, and for these reasons I have no hesitation in recommending this product for every day use.If you found my review helpful, please click the "Yes" button to state this so I know its been a help to someone. Thank you!

I bought this for use with Powerpoint on a Mac (OSX 10.7). First thing I noticed when the product arrived was how small it was - it's about the width of 3 AAA batteries lying next to each other. It comes in a nice neoprene pouch (great for protecting the pointer in a laptop bag), with the USB dongle hidden inside the pointer (you can see it in the photo as the shiny black bit at the bottom). It was a simple case of plugging in the dongle, loading Powerpoint, and using it as the remote. Works great! Exactly what I expect from Logitech products, which have never let me down.

One of those devices that once you own you cannot imagine how you managed without one. I used the older model for a couple of years and it worked faultlessly every time, the new model is a much more organic shape and just as good (though if you want a countdown timer go for the pro model). The buttons are nice and large so you don't have to look at the control to use it, the 'black' button is really useful if you walk in front of the screen or want everyone's attention and I am yet to run out of range. A well-designed bit of kit just made even nicer.

Easy to use (I use a Macbook Air) and the laser pointer is fairly strong. It arrived very quickly andthe price is excellent for the quality. Small and easy to handle. I do not use powerpoint so no idea about that. But for Mac users: it works with Keynote and .pdf and Latex slides. For .pdf slides, you need to use Adobe Reader (it will not work with Apple's Previewer). For those whouse TeXShop (for LateX slides), I recommend directly projecting the LateX previewer, using full screensetting (rather than separately opening the .pdf in Adobe Reader).

Being a grad student and having to do several presentations is nerve wracking enough without also having to click a mouse or keyboard to move slides. This wee gadget gives you control and doesn't break your concentration. It's easy to use! Just plug in the USB attached into the computer you are using and you are good to go!! It has easy to use buttons for forward and back as well as to black out the screen when there are questions or at the end. There is a pointer too so it's all in one and has a handy carry case! Essential for presenters!

I use clickers daily for my work role in presenting.I have been through several and had not found one that was to my liking. This product though I have been impressed with. The first thing you'll notice, is the design. It fits beautifully in a gripped hand. The build quality is superb and robust. I have dropped this a few occasions. The battery life is good as well, I have not had to yet change the batteries and I am using this daily. The last touch, was the protection case it came with.

Brilliant little gizmo, speedily delivered from Amazon.Plug the USB part into an available socket, pull off the battery protective strip, switch on the R400 and off you go! No 'new device detected' or software to faff with, this really is plug 'n play. The photo doesn't give much idea of the compact size of the R400, but it's only 4½" long and 1½" wide at the widest part.A well-designed, practical and simple device at an affordable price. Just the ticket!

This laser pointer, and slide presenter is easy to use, and good value on amazon. I was please to find that it did not interfere with my wireless mouse, and could be used from the other side of the room (about 4 m) with no problems as well. i gave a course with guest lecturers, and everyone figured out easily how to use it. If I could have had a green laser at the same price I would've, but the red dot was also highly visible.

This remote was bought to help with presentations on my Macbook Air. Very easy to setup - actually you only have to plug in the receiver. It works straight out of the box with powerpoint. With keynote it helps to download an app called keyremap4macbook (just google it) which remaps the keys and gets the job done.Only 4 stars though because it should work out of the box with keynote.Highlly recommended

This was everything that I wanted it to be. It is stylish, the usb connector is easy to access and stores in the unit when not in use. It also has a very bright laser pointer. The other great thing about this was that I didn't need to install a software program. The packaging was a dream, the blister pack was easy to open without the need for scissors or broken nails. Good design and great value.

Having used Logitech's old Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter™ at work and loving it, I wanted to get one for myself. Sadly it was discontinued by Logitech, so I got one of their updated models, the R400. There's not much to say other than it works brilliantly. Despite officially not supports OSX, I can testify it works perfectly. I've also used it on Windows and Linux. Highly recommend.

This works well - you start the PC, plug in the USB dongle, wait about 5 seconds and it then controls Powerpoint.I have used this on a number of PCs with no problems. The only issue I have had is that it is difficult to judge where the laser is pointing until you turn it on. However, this is my first laser pointer / presenter so this may be typical.

I bought this for a Mac Book Pro and though it works enough to be usuable, the lack of dedicated software means that not all of the functions are supported, and you have to do a little jiggery-pokery with Mac OS X to get it configured. Not difficult, just tell Mac OS X that it's an ISO keyboard and it'll recognise the forwards and backwards buttons.

Works beautifully with Linux. Have lent it to other speakers at countless conferences to their delight. Highly recommended if you give presentations and want to avoid additional stress with hovering near the pedestal or using unfamiliar equipment from your host. Should work universally with any operating system supporting standard USB mice.
