We bought a 55inch LG UJ63 in 2017. It uses the WebOS program guide and operating system. In 2017 these TV's didn't include the magic remote, just a standard remote, which isn't ideal as the WebOS was clearly designed with a pointer style controller in mind. At the time a magic remote was £50 so we didn't bother. This has always made navigation of the tv guide rather clunky and awkward.Last week I gave in and went to the LG website to stump up for a magic remote, only to find them discontinued for my TV. The website states that you need a MR650 remote for a 2017 tv. So i resort to the auction site, only to find that I'll have to pay £50 for a now out of date remote with no warranty. After much more research I found stories of people buying a newer remote than their tv only to find it didn't work and having to return it, while some people seemed to get away with a newer remote on their older tv. My best guess is that some people have been updating the software in their tv and some haven't. Noting that our 2017 TV has downloaded an update very recently I decided to risk trying the 2020 magic remote on my 2017 tv.After inserting the batteries it worked as a regular remote immediately, after pressing the scroll wheel I got a 'pairing failed' message a couple of times. I turned the TV off and back on, pairing success! This remote works perfectly and fully with my tv. Its clearly the remote the WebOS guide was designed for. And it was under half the price of a 2017 'pre-owned' model...

We have two of the same LG TVs in the kids' room, one for each of their gaming consoles. This caused an issue when using the supplied TV remotes as each remote would control both TVs - and as you can imagine mayhem ensued as every time one kid tried to control their TV they'd end up controlling both. I was hopeful that two magic remotes would solve some of these issues as they pair to each TV over Bluetooth. Thankfully this worked, and now each remote is paired with one TV and only controls that TV.There are two minor gotchas, 1. The power button signal is always sent as an infrared signal, which makes sense as it needs to turn the TV on, and then connects via Bluetooth. So the kids still need to be mindful of that. 2. When the TV is off, the remote falls back to sending signals over infrared, so when the TV that is paired with the remote is off the remote can still control the other TV if it's on - not really a big deal but something to keep in mind.

I was looking for a replacement for my AN-MR19BA Magic remote after the one I had wouldn't work using the wheel. A replacement for the same was approximately £34.00 them I came across this model that looked identical to the one I wanted which was listed for a 2020 LG model's and my TV is a 2019 model. After doing extensive research on the internet I came across an article that stated that this model of handset would work with all Smart TVs from 2017 onwards so I took a gamble and purchased it from Amazon site and when it arrived the remote came sealed with instructions fro LG and in the package was a pair of batteries and additional instructions on how to pair the new Magic remote to the smart TV.I followed the instructions and it was installed in minutes and saved myself £11.00, I cannot guarantee that it will work with the LG Smart TVs 2017/2018 but I can guarantee that it will replace the AN-MR19BA MAGIC REMOTE

I'm familiar with using LG's magic from when I had a 2014 TV which happened to come with a magic remote. When I saw the price of this I just had to get it. Worked right out of the box with a simple click of the scroll wheel to pair it to your TV (mine is a 43UK6400 PLF). Nice large buttons for all your controls and it even has hot keys for your Netflix and Prime apps. Weirdly there's a "Movies" button which I think is meant to launch the Rakuten films app but it does nothing when I press it. Wish there was a way to re-map it to launch another app....but anyway. If you find that the pointer is a little misaligned, here's a quick fix.1) First make sure the pointer isn't visible on screen2)Aim the remote towards the centre of your TV.3) Give the remote a quick shake left to right and that should hopefully align the pointerI like that you get batteries in the box as well. Great remote control for a great price.

I’ve had ongoing issues with the magic remote that came with my 2017 LG TV. Frequent disconnections the pointer wouldn’t work and resetting and repairing would lead to hours of “Bluetooth service needs to be initialised” error messages.Found this 2020 version, batteries in and within one click it had paired and was working just as smoothly as the one that came with the TV. It’s nicer to use as the scroll wheel is textured making it easier to grip. Button layout is near enough the same and the Netflix/Amazon shortcut keys work perfectly. This remote also now allows me some basic control over my SKY Q box.Something I could never get set up with the old remote. So really this purchase is kind of an upgrade in my view and if your LG TV already uses a magic remote this is definitely a worthwhile purchase.

We already had one of these LG 'Magic' remotes, which came with our LG NanoCell TV. When we bought another small LG TV for the bedroom, only the standard remote was supplied. It was OK, but having become used to the 'Magic' version, which I find decidedly superior, I did an online search and found this on Amazon. Although the product description mentions '2020', it paired immediately with the new small TV, which is a 2019 model. There are several versions of this remote on the market, so compatibility is a potential issue, but It seems I can say with a reasonable degree of confidence that this one will definitely be fine with at least 2019 and 2020 LG smart TVs, and possibly older ones too.Just for info, the price on the LG website is extortionate, so don't buy it there!

Took a gamble on this purchase as all the publications on this remote seem to suggest it is only compatible with 2018+ models. Even LG support said the same. But, rather than spend £75-100 for a 2017 remote, I bought this 2020 model anyway and am pleased to report it works seamlessly with my 2017 E7 TV! In fact, inside the manual it does say that its compatible with 2017 models if they have had software updates. Why this isn't published online remains a wonder!?The only downer, which is why I have marked it down a star, is because the Movie button has no function on my TV and is not manually assignable. That's a software miss if you ask me...it would have made a perfect shortcut key for Disney+.Nevermind.

I wanted to buy the LG Magic Remote (2020 model) but wasn't sure about the compatability with my UK6400PLF 2018 TV. Even the LG website wasn't clear. But it arrived today after quick next day delivery & it paired in about 3 seconds. It's excellent! Full motion control, click wheel & my favourite... Voice commands. It unlocks Google Assistant too, so I can ask what the weather is, what is the nearest Indian restaurant & no longer type arduously into the YouTube app with the standard remote.I have posted the compatability list of supported TV's from the back of the box. Not sure if that list differs on the 2018/19 models. If your TV is supported, I highly recommend the LG Magic Remote!10/10

I spent a good few years using the remote that came with my LG TV. Happy enough. Then I decided to take a chance on this remote and now I only use this. It has such a comfortable feel to it. All buttons within easy reach and very responsive. Very light to handle. The back curve is a great design. On the original remote it is very easy to push the wrong button during operation. Not this. It has a built-in microphone for Alexa etc but I don't have this function on my TV. It might work with a Fire stick as there is a button for Prime Video .I tried it out and you have to register that function apparently. I am not at all disappointed with my purchase.

Bought this to replace the AN-MR650 Magic Remote that's On/Off button has failed and within the last few days the select button is continuously on. This remote worked immediately, but the streaming service shortcuts and the pointer don't work. So it's not backwards compatible with my TV (you get an occasional pop-up on screen to highlight your disappointment) which has the MR650. Such a shame that LG haven't made it completely backwards compatible, as this has a pause and play button which are great additions (and they work!).Haven't marked the review down as the remote seems great value if your TV is compatible.

Was not sure if this was going to work with my 2017 LG OLED E7.After adding supplied batteries, held down the OK button, it registered instantly with the LG TV, all buttons worked with the exception of the pointer,Then I came across this on the web:Hold down the Smart Home () button and BACK () button on the Magic Remote Control for 5 seconds to initialize the Magic Remote Control.Aim the Magic Remote Control at your Smart TV, and then press the Wheel (OK) button. A message appears after the Magic Remote Control is registered. This worked, I now have all buttons working and the pointer.

Setup was extremely easy as I bought a TV at the same time, just pressed the button on this remote rather than the TV included remote during first time setup. The "movies" button on the remote is bound to a particular app in the LG store that you can't change. I find myself hitting the microphone button rather than the home button a lot, & hitting the home button instead of the back button a lot. Might be muscle memory from a previous LG tv. The most annoying thing for me is that this remote wasn't included with the TV in the first place.

Works well with my LG tv as my other remote must have broke with constant dropping of it as we stood it upright when storing on units next to sofa so constant drops. We noticed our virgin TV remote wasn't fully working so once we ordered this and got it going the Virgin remote started fully work again so can only assume the LG remote must've been faulty with lots of drops. Main LG remote must be an extension of some kind for your virgin/sky box remote to with. Once we got the new LG remote registered and going then Virgin remote worked.

This remote control is an original magic remote control of of smart TV serial it comes with warranty and manual as well as small cd for instructions . Easy to activated and register , it did work right away on my OLED55B7V 2017 all button functions with no exceptions at this price can't beat any other place . The UK price for 2017 remote control is around 68£ meanwhile in Amazon it cost me 23£ . I personally think from my experience this remote control Wii work for any Oled TV that uses magic remote control from 2017 onwards !

I purchased a large LG tv that came with the magic remote. I was so impressed with the ease of use that I purchased this duplicate one for the smaller tv in my sunroom (an LG 28TN525S).This remote makes it so much easier to use.I can't imagine having to operate a tv without this functionality.I would have liked more comprehensive media controls ie. Fast forward and rewing as there is only play & pause, however the circular disc can control these functions but not quite as easily.A very worthwhile purchase.
