I already have an electric strimmer (or grass trimmer) which was purchased a number of years ago however, it cost 3 times the price of this one. Accordingly, I wasn't expecting great things from a strimmer than "only" costs £30 (at the time of writing) but having used it, must acknowledge that it is almost as good as my existing strimmer and also has some nifty features which I don't currently have.Given the product is quite bulky, it is delivered in sections but there isn't much to do here, other than to clip them all together. The electric cable is quite long however, I suspect most users will also require an extension cable to reach all corners (don't forget to use an RCD,to protect you in the event of a cable cut). The strimmer leaves a decent finish and is able to ct very effectively in straight lines. The only area where it seemed to struggle a bit was around immovable objects, such as fence posts but I guess this is understandable given that the frame of the strimmer (being rounded) can't fit into right angle corners.Certain objects are also quite hard on the strimmer cord, such as stone and brick walls however, this has been my experience with all strimmers i.e. the cord tends to break and needs to be extended quite regularly when cutting against such surfaces. However, this strimmer has an auto feed function which is quite nifty and works rather well. To auto feed replacement cord, all you need to do is let the strimmer come to a complete stop and then press the trigger and approximately 1cm of cord will extend out (this process can be repeated until the desired amount of cord has been fed out). Accordingly, no more manual feeding of the cord is required! In summary, I'm very impressed with the quality of this strimmer and the features, especially given the price point.

This Flymo strimmer is easy to assemble, and has a lot of extra features that make this a great choice if you're looking to ii grade an old one.We had a old strimmer that used to detach the wire regularly and was difficult to move effectively with the handle and was extremely heavy to use. This one is designed to have two handles to help hold the strimmer at a safe and manageable rather than dangerous but manageable position, it is also considerably lighter than our old one, my mum remarked she felt confident that she could use this one unlike our other one. Also the twined cord is stringer meaning it's less likely to detach or breakaway whilst in use.We were able to trim the edges of our grass areas far more quickly and effectively with this than our old one and the added plant guard gave piece of mind that the borders wouldn't be shredded if my husband decided to do the task and gives a much neater and completed trim. There was no need to recover area the grass was clipped neatly and completely with no stragglers. Of course this is on lush Spring growth of a standard lawn grass, it may need a but more Oomph on older, drier and tougher robust enough for children and sports grass types.Overall this is a bargain price for an effective machine, sure there are much more expensive machines that are more powerful but this is great for light use and great if you need something a bit easier to handle, and it means our borders will look much less bedraggled after the lawn gets a hair cut!

This strimmer is ideal for cutting the edges of your lawns or other awkward to reach areas that area too small for a lawnmower to get in. With over ten metres of mains cable, you can go a long way down the garden without an extension.Use is extraordinarily simple - simply plug in and squeeze the trigger! There is a guard on the bottom of the unit which stops it spraying cut grass on your trouser bottoms and that also acts for safety. The cutting is done by a nylon wire which is very safe indeed but routinely breaks off but there is a self feeding mechanism which replaces it. Should it not auto feed there is a manual feed option (but remember to unplug it from the mains before doing so).Replacement cartridges of cutting cable are readily available an low cost too,but don't be in a rush to buy a spare, they last ages.I took it for its test drive on my back lawn which had wild edges and it sorted them out in a few minutes. I also found it useful on an uneven section of ground that has become grassed over the years and it almost impervious to the lawnmower as it is not level. The height of this is just right for me and I would imagine will suit most people without causing any stooping. This is just what I needed in my garden and so much better than the 'cheaper brand' it replaces. Excellent value!

I first bought a 'strimmer' nearly 30 years ago and was underwhelmed with the results. The nylon thread kept needing to be manually fed through the hole and it left bare patches of earth if it was too near the ground. This model is an improvement. The nylon thread is now self feeding and there is a trimmer at the edge to stop it being to long, but the tendency to leave bare patches is still a slight problem, if you don't pay attention.Overall, I would say that this is perfectly fine for trimming those unruly edges that lawnmowers miss and I will happily use this from now on, but it isn't suitable for the main part of a lawn. Also, perfectionists who want perfectly-manicured lawns may need something more accurate. However,if you're like me - someone who isn't too fussy and just wants to keep the lawn edges looking tidy without spending ages doing it, this is a perfectly good companion to a Flymo Hover Vac. I managed to do my medium-sized garden within a matter of minutes. I also appreciated the small box it arrived in and the ease of assembly - just three parts that click together very easy. For the money it's good value and saves time that could be better spent sitting on the sunlounger, enjoying the garden.

This product is a good little bargain. For the small price, I was expecting the product to lack power or not do a good job. But I was quite surprised. I cut the grass of my garden, edged the sides all to a good standard. I occasionally had to go back and cut the same part of the garden but it still kept the grass to a good standard of cut.A Garden Trimmer's main use is for trimming and edging, so if you are cutting a big garden, don't expect amazing results from a pretty cheap product. It was very easy to assemble and literally took two minutes to plug in, set up the cable and turn it on. Make sure you read the instructions before you use it as if you're unfamiliar with Garden Trimmer's,if anything goes wrong you won't know how to resolve the issue.I was surprised by the overall sound of the trimmer. I thought it was going to be quite loud but it was great. If you live in a private area and don't want to annoy your neighbours, don't worry because it's not loud.If you have weak wrists, take regular breaks. Even though it's lightweight, it can be exhausting to your muscles.Overall I think the product is priced correctly and would recommend for anyone with small to medium gardens.

If you have a small garden complete with lawn then this simple strimmer will add the finishing touches to your lawn edges. It is simple to use and lightweight at that so it is a great 'entry level' strimmer. Lightweight so great for older gardeners.True it is not a heavy duty- all purpose trimmer but then if you are older like me and have a real problem area then you would hire a gardener. This is for the small to average lawn that benefits from a simple, easy to use strimmer.#Saying that it has some great standard features. It's easy to assemble it comes in a compact box to save on postage and transport costs. There is a fine and adequate 12m long lead so again ideal for smaller gardens. If youneed more you can easily get an extension cord. The nylon wire whirls round at a great pace and trims grass quickly and with the simple squeeze of the trigger. It stops as soon as the grip is released.Another great safety feature is the guard at the bottom this allows you to go right up to tree trunks and get a close cut.It may be simple and as orange as a well orange but it works remarkably well and simple for all that.Totally recommended.

Frankly, for the price this is awesome. I am not good with garden machinery, but this was so unbelievably easy to get going, I was amazed. Straight out of the box, all that needs to happen is for the top half of the handle to be slotted onto the bottom ... and the guard to be fixed on. I managed both of these in about 30 seconds without referring to the guide. As it is electrical machinery, I did read the notes - particularly as I've never used a strimmer before, and have no clue about the cable. The cable is already fixed in place, and there's a knot in each end just to stop them running away I think. I unknotted these, but then all you do is plug it in and wait for the strimmer to auto-cut the cord to the right length. The only slight drawback is that it's very easy to cut right down to the bottom of the grass, leaving a bald patch at the edges. However, as I've got a small garden and really only plan to use it for edging and under the odd bush, I'm delighted with this.In addition, it's lightweight, and has a sensible 'hook' at either end to wrap the (lengthy!) cord around for storage. If in doubt, do it ..

Your reaction to this grass trimmer is likely to be governed by exactly what you want it to do. If you have a modest growth of grass and you want to keep it neat and tidy along the edges then it works well. If, however, you have tough, very long or wiry growth then this does not really have the power to do a good job. On the positive side it has decent, solid build quality, is lightweight and a well designed two part handle which in addition to the top molded section has a secondary grip which offers the user extra support-ideal for more senior gardeners. The clip on guard does a decent job at protecting plants near the lawn's edge and you have a 10 inch range on the head which is okay on smaller areas of grass. The cable is of a good length and stores away easily. On the downside, at 300 W and with cutting cords that don't always flow smoothly through their housing , it can be hard work when your grass in overgrown, very dry or you have a big lawn to cover. At the price worth considering, but be aware of its limitations.

I have now used my new Trimmer a couple of times and I am really pleased with the results. The first lawn cut of the summer needed a serious trimming down before I used the mower, and this was the perfect tool to use.The Trimmer is also not overly expensive, and for the job it does and the hammer it takes, I think its a bargain. The Trimmer also tackled the long grass, and weed foliage down the side of my house. I can't use the mower as the it isn't really suitable as this patch of greenery is join by a gravelled area, but the Trimmer made light work of it.The rotor has a dual line so that the Trimmer will make mince meat of any foliage you put it to. I was really surprised the the line didn't snap.I used the Trimmer for nearly an hour on some pretty stubborn grass and foliage, but it didn't even flinch. The only downside was that the cable could have done with been another 5 metres, but other that that. Top marks.

This very sturdy, not the stick-like, like the strimmers of yesteryear, with quite a large plant guard on the end. And it's still quite lightweight. There is a tiny bit of assembly. You just need to fix it together and fix the guard on the end.The thing I like about this is it has a cable tidy. It's a nice sturdy thick 12 m cable, as well..And yes – it is powerful. It does do a good job. There is a tree guard on the back of the guard so you can get right up to a tree trunk. This is an automatic cord feed. You don't have to do anything unless it gets tangled. Of course, eventually you need to replace the bit that holds the court with new cord.My cords were tied in a knot at both ends.I wasn't too sure whether I needed to trim these off, but they kept getting tangled so I trimmed the cords shorter and it worked fine after that.

I moved in 9 months ago from a flat to a house with a garden and garden tools was not priority. However with this hot weather, I wanted to buy the right equipment that was worth it and I’m past crappy cheap strimmers were horrible. I contacted Flymo before buying as not used their equipment before and was unsure whether a lawn mower or strimmer would do my over grown grass for at least month or two.. got it this evening this is what me and my toddler acomplishsd within 30 mins! Very easy to use, and powerful and cuts long grass that even comes upto your calf’s about 2 ft grass! Used the tree/plant gaurd, found it okay but took it off and cuts faster without it on and does a better job!I got this for £20 and certainly over the moon with it! Now looking to purchase more flyno equipment for future use! Recommended!!

Judging by what the Speedi-Trim has just done for me I would give it more than 5 stars if that were allowed. I laugh at myself when I think ofall the times that I have struggled with shears that seem to blunt as soon as you looked them. I haven't touched my garden for many months and naturally the grass was long, as were the many dead stems of long forgotten shrubs/plants that did not grow up and mature. (How dare you, smile!) Assembly of the trimmer was simplicity itself as was correct usage: I just did what the brochure suggested to do - angle the device into the area needing trimming and to sway the trimmer simultaneously. Cutting the grass with the Flymo mower and using the trimmer almost makes my garden look neat now,ha ha.

We all know and trust the fly brand for reasonably cheap garden power trimmers and strimmers which was definitely a factor in my purchase. I was not at all disappointed, it came in a far smaller box than expected due to some clever packaging and a snap toner design which, when assembled, seems very sturdy. The twin line head really cuts well and the assembled guide is handy when folded out although its the least sturdy part of the design. Integrated cable storage is a bonus although it has no quick release so you do have to unwind it the long way. Nice long lead as standard and reasonably quiet operation make it ideal for your every day garden strimming and trimming.

Lightweight, simple and easy to use; perfect for trimming areas that a lawnmower can't quite get to, and much better quality than cheaper alternatives.Handy length ~10m cable that plugs into any main power plug, simply plug in, squeeze the handle and get rid of those ugly edges around your lawn.No need to worry about shredding your flowers, or covering your lawn in newly cut grass, as there is a guard/cover that prevents this mess.If you do manage to hit something by mistake, because the cutting is done by a wire rather than a blade, it's much safer and less damage can be done. These wires can be replaced when needed, and are cheap and easy to replace.

We desperately needed a way to cut the grass in our small garden. This trimmer is amazing! It works wonderfully and is super easy to use. It does get a bit tiresome to hold for extended periods of time but I can’t fault the maker for that because it’s as light as it can be without taking out the motor. I am so glad we bought this. (I just trimmed our entire garden myself in 20 minutes and I’ve never used any kind of grass cutter before this; my husband always did it)
