The motor on my much-loved Bosch trimmer died after ten years hard work - having read the reviews here, was a bit troubled, but decided to take a chance, and after 13 thirty-minute sessions over 2 weeks (rain kept stopping play), have had very few quibbles. Battery wonderful - for the first time this morning I matched its energy (36 mins my best time) and it recharges quicker than I do (70th year). Still on my first blade, and it has handled everything - even trailing vine and honeysuckle stems, lilac root shoots etc which would certainly have snapped the old red blades. Two slight nicks on its first outing when I was preoccupied with the press-button, and got too close to a concrete post and and a paving stone, and a bit of general wear. That augurs well. Downside? (1) Yes, I have tiny hands, and although this machine is no heavier, I suspect the two-speed action makes it harder to keep up the correct pressure (never a problem on the old one-speed machine). The machine hasn't stalled on me, except when I've released pressure on the button. Solved this by wearing gardening gloves. (2) Bosch have changed the design on the blade-guard, which is not so easy to keep clean, with a lot of gunge build-up on each run (damp lush spring growth) and it looks to me as if there are places bits of grass can get in where it was more closed-off before. Will this machine last ten years? Not without regular service, I suspect, while the previous trimmer never got a service. Someone mentioned the spindle - mine didn't 'click' when the part was pressed on, so it is just 'pull off and push back into place', as on the previous model, but have never had it fly off in action. Cutting longer grass - if you take off the top 4-6 inches with a sweeping action from side to side, then take the grass down by the same amount, on anoth pass, till it is as low as you want. Slower, but much easier, and you don't get grass wrapped around the spindle. This machine has cut everything I've pointed it at, except the bases of three fat creeping thistle stalks, which needed a hatchet. I have large areas of lawn well, 'rough grass') that used to be flower and veg gardens till they got too much for me, so I can't think of this 'trimmer' as a light-weight garden tool. The last model certainly wasn't (except for those red blades).

I noticed that this had some negative reviews so I thought I would try to offer an alternative view. For me this is a terrific cordless strimmer, quiet and light with a head that adjusts through 90 degrees for vertical edging. It uses a plastic blade rather than nylon line.It comes without a battery or charger, which seems to be one reason why this particular model has some low scores. Perhaps Amazon could make it clear that no battery or charger is provided on this particular model which is why it is a fair bit cheaper. As I already had the charger and two batteries for my Bosch leaf blower this fits perfectly with my other Bosch tools. The assembly instructions could be a little bit clearer but it is easily assembled in a few minutes with the help of a narrow flat-bladed screwdriver. Two screws secure the black cicular guard onto the head. Then the blade holder just clicks on.In action it is excellent, for the first time I was able to edge my lawn with ease and I completed it very quickly. I clobbered the wall a couple of times but the Durablade is intact, if a bit scarred on the tip. The strimmer is light to hold, it is easy to adjust the handle length and the battery seems to last for a good while. I've found in the past that doing the edges of the grass typically takes almost as long as mowing the whole lawn but this tool has made the job a lot easier. The best bit about it is that is light enough for my wife to use and she can clip the edges whilst I mow the lawn - perfect.

Ideal for finishing off the edges of the garden, and for lighter weed strimming. I bought a spare pack of blades expecting them to be used quickly after reading other reviews, but as long as you don't keep trying to cut concrete/wood with them they seem to last a reasonable length of time (third week and still only half-way through the first pre-fitted blad)

Poor instructions (Bosch you should be ashamed) but works quite well compared to my old Fly.. model. It is quite light but annoyingly cuts out when hitting heavier grass - made my fingers ache (after about 30mins of continued strimming) - having to repress start buttons. It is lighter than old Fly.. model. No problem yet with blade.

Great machine with good battery life. The only niggle is the cost of blades. They are supposed to be extra strong for better life than on previous models but I'm getting through as many of these at £2 each as I did with the previous ones which cost a few pence each.

Great battery life (strimmed the whole of our allotment) and blades seem reasonably durable. Bear in mind that it's primarily a grass strimmer. Don't expect it to strim through jungle without some issues.

Was intending to buy another petrol strimmer but decided on this at the last minute. Very surprised - works as well and easy to use. Have had it a year and only now buying a replacement pack of blades.

Lightweight and easy to use. Does a good job on long grass, weeds, brambles etc. Not a heavy duty brush cutter, but for general weeds n stuff it's great. Battery recharges very quickly too.

Great item, shares a battery with other Bosch items I own which is always a bonus. The battery life is good and the item is more capable of tougher tasks than I expected

Very happy with purchase. Arthritis makes gardening difficult this is light enough and easy enough to use. No problems with the blade.

Excellent for cutting where the lawn mover cannot cut. Not battery included but it was mentioned in the description.

13.10.2016

love it but it didn't come with battery and charger which was not made clear at time of purchase.

Brill no more leads to tangle and cut. No battery supplied as stated which suited me.

22.8.2016

this is good for my small gaurden it was done in half the time of a normal strimmer.

24.10.2016

Good product but battery does not last long enough with recharge required.
