For years, I've put off the idea of buying one of these hedgecutters but I finally gave in and I'm so glad I did! I feel like I've died and gone to hedge cutting heaven!Down one side of my garden is an 8 ft high and 45 ft long line of leylandii. I'd inherited a pair of Spear & Jackson hand operated shears and twice a year I have bravely ventured out to snip away until my arms were ready to drop off... Great exercise...The Bosch arrived yesterday and as soon as I could unpack it I was in the garden and had it plugged in (I needed to use a 6m extension to reach the end of my garden).Wow!This is one efficient little machine.I was able to quickly cut all the overgrown branches and within 30 minutes I'd completely finished the job - smooth looking sides and a flat even top. The length of the cutters are such that I easily reached the other side of the hedge which is about four feet wide. The operation and handling of the cutter is impressive. The handles are comfortable and well positioned for safe operation and manoeuvering. I never felt at any time that I was in danger of damaging myself. To avoid cutting through the cable I looped it over my arms and around the back of my head - this kept it safely out of the way and allowed me complete flexibility of movement. It's not a heavy machine and so fatigue isn't an issue. The fact it works so fast means the job is completed so much quicker anyway so this reduces the chances of getting tired and making mistakes (as opposed to hand shears which exhaust you very quickly!).As well as the leylandii, I was able to cut the long grass in a couple of difficult to access areas of the garden - AND under the 8ft trampoline! This goes where the lawnmower can't.All in all, I'm very satisfied with this purchase and can predict I'll be using it more than twice a year. I'm confident in recommending it to you.I appreciate I may not have covered specific areas of concern for you - if there are any questions you'd like to ask, post a comment and I'll get back to you.2014 Update >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 17/9/14So, 2 years on since I bought this and I had quite a few trees and shrubs to trim this week. I retrieved the cutter from the shed, plugged it in and... It worked as beautifully as when it was new. I haven't maintained or even oiled it so what a hero of a machine.Still comes highly recommended from me :)

It's a great strimmer in every respect except for one big problem, which was why I originally gave this ONE star. .Why? Well, after two decent but not outrageously arduous strims the cord ran out. Trying to put new cord into the strimmer spool with NO guidance from the manual (or the internet) was a nightmare. I tried twice with 1.5mm nylon line and, cut a long story short, both times the gubbins eviscerated itself within 5 seconds and I ended up picking up little strips of line varying in length from 1mm to 20mm all over that patch of the garden!BUT, here's how you do it: Remove red cap to access spool. Pull out spool. There are two layers, one for each line. Take a 70cm length of 1.5mm nylon line.Notice that the central shaft of the spool has two little holes, one on each level. Insert your line into the TOP hole and feed it in, [1 cm or so?] Then, now that it's anchored, wind your line in the direction of the arrows [important as there's a ratchet system and this will feed the line OUTwards]. Keep winding. At the top of the spool there are two notches, and another two on the other side. Take the last 15 cm of line and feed it up through one notch and down through the next. This holds it all in place while you repeat the process for a second length of line on the bottom level. You should now have a spool with two pieces of line sticking out. Feed them through the two silvery metal 'eyes' of the outer sleeve and click the spool down into place. Fix the red cover back on and off you go! :-)[Legal disclaimer: If this goes wrong you're on your own! But it worked for me :-) ]

I've been wanting to buy a hedge trimmer for some time now. I kept putting it off, but finally bought this budget Bosch one due to the star rating in Amazon and the fact I own a Bosch lawnmower which is superb.I am so glad I did get a hedge trimmer as I've been previously using a pair of hand shears!!, and I don’t need to explain how frustrating and a chore it is to maintain a fairly big hedge with manual shears.Despite being small it is more than capable with its 420 watt motor. I was actually surprised how quiet the motor is.This little machine is capable of dealing with small and even medium size hedges and branches. A great choice for the gardener that wants to get the job done quick and precise. The trimmer is equipped with a 45 centimeter long blade, which has a tooth spacing of 16 millimeters. The blade has apparently been diamond grounded which should give the blade a bit of longevity and clean cutting. There is also a nice plastic blade cover that comes with the trimmer, so you can preserve the blade when not in use.The cable length is around 10m which may be enough for some people to not even require an extension reel.Handles are positioned very ergonomically that suits me quite well, and I don’t feel like I would drop it at any point in time. It’s very light, weighing in at 2.5kg which helps prevent fatigue in the old arms when reaching up.You could probably cut long grass with this trimmer if you don’t own a lawnmower, although that would be pretty back breaking!I can definitely recommend this to my friends and other Amazon users ??

We recently moved into our new house, and the previous owner had neglected the garden somewhat, and there were some fairly hefty weeds and brambles that needed a good seeing to.My old strimmer was just not up to the job, and my overgrown garden simple laughed at its fairly pathetic attempts to tame it.I didn't really want to go down the petrol route, as a number of my friends have ... and spend a great deal of time swearing, but wanted something that would cope with the worst of my requirement, but did not feel like I am having a gym session every time I used it.The ART 35 was very easy to assemble, looks to be robust enough to provide years of service, works well, is comfortable to use,and in my garden at least, I thought line wear was very acceptable. OK, having a cable is more of a pain than using petrol, but at least you don't stink of fumes afterwards ... even the noise level is acceptable, but I would always tend to use some ear defenders and a pair of specs anyway.Good for the money, it looks like it should take other accessories, but clearly doesn't ... shame, because I'm sure the motor would handle anything you throw at it.

I bought this in desperation having tried and failed to get our petrol strimmer going and the weeds and brambles were out of control. I selected this model even though it was very new to the market and there was only one review at the time as it was claimed to be heavy duty. I was very pleased with the power of it which overcame the obvious inconvenience of an extension cable to haul around a large garden. My one single disappointment was the "bump & feed" business end. The line itself has a maximum diameter of 1.6 cm - not very thick and wears down quickly but the main problem is getting it wound evenly which is fiddly, time consuming and not successful 9 times out of 10.This is not specific to Bosch or this model. I just think it's a shame when there are more user friendly and simpler designs out there that Bosch has not offered an alternative accessory. There may be some universal heads that will fit the bill but I would need to do some research and meanwhile I need to keep on top of the gardening. That aside I am very pleased I bought this strimmer and would recommend it for anyone considering buying one.

I'm a beginner at this kind of gardening, but in our new garden I needed to do some heavy remodeling after the previous tenant let it go wild.As soon as the hedge cutter arrived with his compact sturdy box, I've plugged it in and I faced the first problem. The cord is too short (around 10m I'd say).I was nicely surprised about the plastic cover that keeps the blade safe when the trimmer is not in use. After retrieving a cable reel I was good to go. Some plants are cut like butter, but if they hide some thicker branches, you'll feel it!I'd say the 16mm thick ones are really the limit.Lots of vibrations coming from the motor and once you'll turn it off, you really will have a strange feeling in your hands.Even if it's a 420w motor,it's still quite quiet (on the box it says 92dB), and with a 2.5kg weight it's alright for shorts jobs. You need 2 hands to start cutting; one holding the pad under the handle, and the other pushing the pad at the base of the blade.I'd say it's well balanced.Do wear gloves when using it and some glasses for protection!

I got this to replace an old Flymo strimmer/edger. It is more sophisticated than the old one but there are drawbacks, not least, that you need to get the wheel attachment which is sold separately in order to make this easier to manoeuvre.I didn't have too much trouble with it strimming but edging is a different matter and it is quite difficult to do without the wheel. I got that from another site for around £18 so take that into consideration when looking at the price of this compared with others. For some reason, Bosch seems to be doing this more often.Having said that, this cuts a lot better than the old one so one you get the handling sorted the results are excellent.Height adjusted and lightweight which are all important. I also prefer items with a power cable than having to remember to charge batteries. That also avoids problems others have noted these days that battery powered items being sold without batteries or chargers which is even worse than this case of needing a wheel attachment.

Bought this on Black Friday so super happy with the price i paid.I used to have a small flymo strimmer which was great for borders but not up to hacking down the 125 sq meter jungle that had grown in the house i just moved into.Ordered this ready for next spring/summer and I've used it for the past 6 months. At first was a bit difficult to get to grips with. the strap makes it a lot easier to carry and makes for lighter work. After about the 3rd/4th time of using its now a lot easier to use. plus everythung is manageable menaing i've reduced the cutting time down to around 25 minutes to cut 150 square meter area (including incline) I've had to change the strimming wire and I've got the stronger option available,(highly recommend) as i'm not having to keep pulling out more cord. The red power cable is easy to see helping to avoid and trips or accidents. Would prefer the cable to be a little longerGreat power and ideal for large overgrown areas

OK so "A cut above the rest" is a bit of a corny title. It has to be said its true. This Bosch Hedge cutter is just great and I find it hard to criticize its design or capability to do the job it was intended for. I have never owned a electric cutter before, thought I could make a much nicer job of trimming the few bushes I have in my garden. Its fairly light to handle, cuts with ease and used with care very safe. I nearly purchased a much inferior make and even looked at 2nd hand, but with Amazons amazing deals buying new was only a few pounds more. I Would recommend this cutter as I would be surprised if you could get any better results by paying more.A few reviews comment the cable is to short but I found this not to be a problem when using a extension reel. Don't wait 18 years like me to buy one, buy with Bosch confidence today.

Bought this to make my gardening easier as we have a number of bushes that had started to get a bit out of control.Works well, and has no problem cutting through small bush branches (maybe 5mm or slightly more). Have had it cut through 1cm but had to persist and it probably isn't good for the blade. This loses a star because it isn't particularly comfortable to hold for extended periods. It isn't a natural position I don't think. You have to hold down two buttons to operate it (safety feature) - I am right-handed, and hold the rear handle with my left, and the front handle with my right so I can steer/apply pressure etc. It would be nice it the front switch locked "on" as that would make it so much easier, but I understand why it doesn't.

I got this to replace my old 45cm Black and Decker which died on me. I'd say this one is as good, if not better, for trimming. I also have a Bosch Pro with a 70 cm blade and wider teeth for the tougher cutting back. In comparison with that the smaller machine does seem less well balanced - the larger one has a better front grip which you can hold on the top, left side or right side, which allows you to 'lift upwards' easily when cutting up the front of a hedge. I found the 45 rather less easy to manoeuvre as you can only grab the front handle from the top. On the other hand it is much, much lighter. I would recommend this for light to medium work. I found the cable rather short.

At the time of writing mine is now nearly ten years old and still going. However, it has one little design fault (or maybe two):- Where the blade shaft enters the main body there is a hole and material such as wood chips can enter the gear box. For the first time today, a chip large enough to jam the gears got in and the machine came to a halt. Now we come to the second design fault (IMO) two of the housing screws are of a rather unusual type which fortunately I happen to posess but most folk would not and so could not dissemble the body to look for problems. However I did, discovered the chip jammed in the gears and removed it so that my hedg trimmer became a happy bunny again.

Well the wife asked me to trim the bush in the garden, she usually lets it get out of control and I’ve always had to use a jungle knife to make it neat but it can make your wrist ache. This year as we are in lockdown and her bush was getting out of control blocking out the light I decided that I needed a bush trimmer and what better make than Bosch. This Bosch bush trimmer is amazing it’s light, versatile and sharp and certainly trimmed the bush perfectly. Now when you open the back doors you can see a lovely trimmed bush. I recommend the Bosch Bush trimmer and now I’m looking forward to keeping the bush nice and trimmed like the ones in Hollywood.

I write reviews for things I buy to help people choose so hopefully this can help you.The strimmer is excellent; it is what it says and is cheap, but the quality is top notch. The strimmer was easy to assemble and worked straight away. It made light work of what I needed and was able to strim down everything I needed making the edges of the lawn look great. My only gripe with the strimmer is the cable is not very long so make sure you get an extension with this one. My wife likes the strimmer as well, as it is lightweight and she has used it on the odd occasion.I would recommend this product to anyone, it may be cheap, but it is great.

I have never felt so manly AND so creative at the same time. Admittedly it's the "creativity" born of the chaos of destruction, but it still counts, right?Yes, you might look at it and think, "45cm? That doesn't seem long enough, there are 60cm options available...surely that'd be much more manly?" and you'd not be wrong. But my missus says what I've got is ample, and she thinks anything more would be too long. It's reduced hours of work with a pair of shears AND loppers to mere minutes. Sure, I still need the loppers for the thicker branches, at least until I'm allowed a chainsaw, but those are few and far between.
