After using it for 15 minutes... The fully-charged battery had run out of juice. And ouch my hand was aching from keeping the switch pressed for it to work. This feels like bad design, but I guess it might be a safety requirement?I was using it to clear some long weeds, and that's hard work for this kind of thing. But with two fully-charged batteries, at this kind of extreme, you're going to get around 20-30 minutes before you have to wait 4-5 hours for one battery pack to recharge. On the other hand, you've probably got more than a suburban back garden if you need to spend more than 30 minutes strimming. This is lightweight compared to many, but still fatiguingly heavy when you're using it.I have a body harness designed for the industrial brush whackers (around £10 here on Amazon). Using some cable ties I rigged up a way of supporting it to make life easier. But there's no clip on the unit itself for using a harness.I've got to say that this feels to me much more like a £40-£60 unit, rather than the £80-£100 it's priced at here on Amazon. That said, it was just about able to tackle long grass and weeds – something my old strimmer just couldn't hack. I suspect simply using it for borders and those bits that a lawnmower misses will bring excellent results.

I have the WG169E which got wet and was not working. I ordered this WG163E as it has the very handy edging function. It came with 2x 2AH batteries which cost £30 each to buy separately at the moment. Thus the strimmer cost just £10 effectively !. I needed more batteries as I have many worx tools and after a year of heavy use many batteries have less life from the memory fade usual on repeated charges. I am please to say my WG 169E dried out and now works well again. I do prefer the 169 because: changing the cutting angle involve rotating a simple switch and adjusting by hand whereas the 163 need to be clamped with your foot on the blade cover and pulled with considerable force, like another reviewer I was fearful I would snap the cover, the 169 also ha s a sieve switch to change from edger trimmer which is a very positive bayonet type movement and foxes the 90 degree rotation, the 163 you just rotate the extendable shaft and it is tricky to get a true 90 degree angle.the extender switch in the handle of the 169 is far simpler and quicker than the cuff tightener on the shaft of the 163, finally the 169 feels lighter. Happy with the deal and general performance of the 163 which is comparable to the 169 but prefer the refinements of the 169.

Great looking product, good construction and the moveable parts click solidly into place. The adjustable length and variable angle of the shaft handle mean that the carrying and usage angle should be customisable for most people.Impressed with the battery life - I’d recommend getting the box with 2 batteries included; no brainer when it’s almost the same price.I have an irregular 1/3 of an acre, mostly lad to lawn with lots of edges. When I first received the package, I plugged one of the batteries into charge. 4 hours later still showed charging but was really keen to have a go, and that battery lasted half hr- approx half of the garden.Charged both batteries overnight and managed to do theother half of garden the following day using 1 battery. The single cutting cord works really well and I have witnessed no slippage. The command feed works like a charm (not that I’ve had to use it much).Overall, very pleased, and drastically better than the old Flymo one I used to use (and managed to burn out the motor). This is an excellent replacement for me.The only minor niggle is the angle adjustment for the cutting head - it feels too tough to move and there is no button to press. You just have to force it.

I’ll try and write a review like I wanted to see someone had written on strummers. This strimmer is amazing.. it has some real torque to cut the grass, tough weeds even small twigs on bushes. I was worried being battery it would tickle the grass... but I was wrong. It loves to get stuck in and strim anything in its way with out losing any speed. It looks the part too... no cheap looking strimmer and it’s functions are great. Did the whole front garden which is a small to medium size and still plenty juice left to carry on... and I even had the other battery to use as well.I got this for my dad to use and to be honest there is not much difference between this one and my corded mains strimmer...I may even buy one myself !!The nylon string did not feed itself out while in use which some do.Really pleased with it and I can see no reason anyone would t be.Only one bad thing I could honestly say... which isn’t bad is charging the batteries when it came took few hours... but really that is not worth worrying about for what this can do on the lawn

I used the battery from the Worx Landroid (S300) to power the strimmer. The strimmer remained light enough to handle with the tiny battery in. The grass boarder had not been trimmed for a few weeks, so it was long. The strimmer took care of the 130sqm lawn edge, a large island and two other poles. There was enough battery to tart up the side lawn, but not to do all of it.The battery was put back into the Landroid for charging and a full charge was done in around 1 hour 30 mins. Marvin the Paranoid Landroid was ready to go shortly after reaching full charge, but he wasn't happy. He reported E1, boundary wire missing. We though we may have snagged his wire. However, after pulling him out of his home, turning him on manually, pressing Home and OK, he went home. Marvin went out to cut the lawn shortly afterwards with no issues. So, a second battery would be need to cover the whole of both lawns, but we will just do them on different days, although I suspect once the grass is shorter it may manage the both in one hit.Recommended.

We have a very large garden with several borders and lawns. Prior to buying this product, cutting the edges was my most hated job. Not only did it take the best part of a day, by the time I had finished, my back and neck would be aching and I’d be very grumpy! This is the second year of use and I can honestly say it is the best garden gadget since the once-hated edge cutting now only takes an hour - it’s unbelievable really. It does take a little practice to get the knack of using it, and I would definitely recommend wearing safety specs/goggles as it can throw up small stones/pieces of bark etc. We bought an additional battery (one hour charge) and bigger charger.I nearly forgot - you can swivel the head to horizontal and use it as a regular strimmer for all those overgrown edges alongside fences. This may seem an expensive product, but if you have a big garden it’s absolutely worth it, and I have no hesitation in recommending it. The thought of going back to long-handled shears fills me with horror!

Yup spot on, this is now my 3rd workTool my 4th is on its way. They’re a great home DIY tool. This strimmer is very easy to assemble (just the strimmer guard and a screw) 2 mins jobAs for it’s function I used my own 20v battery.Extended and got to work. I’ve not a huge lawn but 3 smaller grass sections.Worked great for strumming and perfect for edging the line seems far stronger than my other strimmer, did the entire area without the need to use the command feed line. But I pressed the command line to see what it did. It worked noneOf that silly banging on the ground for line.1 press the motor temporarily stops, line fed out and motor continues so simple. My battery did all my garden 30mins cutting high grass and very grasses edges. The batter still had enough power for me to use in my drill for an hour to so I was happy.Storage, folds very neatly and fits in mySmall toolbox thanks to the collapsible handle.Great job.

It took me a long time to make the decision to order this as I wanted a German brand named after a big bear! Ordering from Germany directly (as I have done previously) was almost £40 cheaper than sourcing from the UK, but my Amazon Pay would not register.I bought this as a second choice and boy, am I pleased I did so. The edger is a wonderful addition and gives a neat edge in a fraction of the time it took me with shears. Adjusting the head takes some getting used to as the recommended method seems a bit overly aggressive, but it works. I am only on my first battery worth, but it cuts much like a petrol strimmer that has given up the ghost.I am thrilled with my purchase and though some reviews were negative, they must have been written by serial wingers. Not only is it Worx, but it also works and how! A brilliant bit of kit that punches well above its weight.

My garden is small but challenging with assorted tough woodland weeds invading all year round. My previous strimmers - all well respected makes - have been frustrating to use - broken lines, lines not feeding, etc., and have ultimately died in service. I already have a Worx drill, which I love, so only had to buy the machine. It took a little over 5 minutes to clear the patch which blew the motor on the last strimmer, and the line remained at working length all the way through. The battery was fully charged again within 10 minutes after use.A major plus with the cordless is that I can grab it and go. Not having to get the extension lead out of the garage and fiddle about with the lead is a big motivator and time saver. The instruction booklet leaves much to be desired, and I recommend watching one of the videos available online for assembly and use.

Easy to set-up & use, light weight, batteries each last around 20 minutes. Works well for simple lawn edging, both horizontally & vertically. But surprisingly good at tougher requirements - we have a public footpath at the side of our estate, which was very overgrown & difficult for me & particularly our dog to negotiate for our walks. Using the WORX WG 163E I cut down around 100 metres of overgrown grasses, fern, even brambles to clear a path for easier access, exhausting both batteries, photo attached - the WORX did well for this task, of course taking more effort & longer than a petrol strimmer, but for a light weight cordless I was pleasantly surprised at how well it did.

This makes edging the lawn a breeze. So much quicker and easier than using back-breaking edging shears. I would buy this again and I would recommend it to friends and familyThree improvements I'd make are 1] change the wheel design to enable their use when strimming flat. It's too easy to scalp the lawn without a height gauge. 2] An arrow in white on the guard so that you can see where the cutting line is in edging mode. Otherwise it's easy to get off line and cut deep gouges into your lawn. 3] Battery life could do with being longer.I have no problem with rotating the head from edging to flat, so other reviewers may have tighter versions than mine.

I have quite a large garden which I cut mainly with a sit on, except for the twiddly bits. The twiddly bits have got larger over the years and although I have a petrol driven strimmer, for a 5ft 2 in woman it has always been quite heavy to use. This Worx Strimmer does the job beautifully. I was concerned that it would not be strong enough to cope, but it more than copes. It sailed through overgrown nettles, trimmed flower bed edges and cut bits I'd have normally had to use my electric mower to tackle. It's light, having two batteries, one in and one charging makes a lot of difference as well. So light, easy to assemble, easy to use, very happy.

Had an old battery strimmer of another make years ago, it was OK but the battery was heavy and limited and you were always waiting for it to run out. This is fabulous. Went together easily - the range of adjustments for height and angle mean that it is easy to make it comfortable to use. We got it to keep our front and back grass in check - planning to get rid of it so don't want to buy a mower. Had to recharge it after doing the front the first time - it was really long and damp. Since then it has done both bits, around 40 square metres, on one charge without any problem at all. I will almost be sad when we don't need it any more.

looking at video before buying,it looks like the tilt and adjust of the handle is easy peasy, believe me it is far from it.I could not budge it,i thought being a 67 year old pensioner with arthritis it was me,so asked my son who is a strapping 46 year old, with some effort he finally got it to move but still was not easy.I finally had to loosen the screw to make it easily adjust, and with more use i may be able to tighten screw back up.The plus points are can move around garden no cables, not to heavy, wheels a useful addition and command feed is great addition with a press of button and hopefully will carry on working.

I wanted a cordless strimmer and this one had good reviews. I used it on long grass by fences and then as an edger. It took a while to get used to the exact position of the cutting line for edging but it produces impressive results and the wheels make all the difference. Make sure your path/patio is clear of stones or they will knock the edger off the straight line you require! I now use it each time I mow the lawn for edging and every few weeks for grass against the fence line as it cuts shorter than my mower. The battery life is about 20 mins and the line doesn’t snap easily. Wish I had bought it sooner.
