This was actually bought not to mash potatoes, but to tamp down cabbage when making sauerkraut. However, it's proving useful for all sorts of things such as pressing pastry flat in mince-pie making! Strong but not too heavy, with a nice smooth handle - no splinters! I hope it lasts. Haven't put it through the dishwasher, don't think the handle join would survive, and it's wood anyway. Like it.

This is the kind of masher I used growing up, and I'm delighted with the purchase. I feels sturdy, and is just a right size. Makes beautiful smooth mash etc.I treated it with some Danish oil suitable for kitchen utensils, and will season it every now and again. This improves the look and prevents cracking of the wood.Great quality for a very reasonable price, and arrived quickly.
