I suppose the ‘elephant in the room’ is that this is grain whisky. Normally considered inferior to malt, and cheaper. Well this is neither, yes it’s grain whisky but somehow Compass Box have come up with a blend that is simply magical. I can be snobbish about whisky, I love a good single malt, but this turns the whisky world upside down. Incredibly smooth, yet complex with a long, long finish. This is a whisky to be sipped, savoured and enjoyed, whilst it may seem expensive for a blend, and a blend of grain whisky at that! It trumps so many ‘classic’ single malts that have reputations in excess of their true quality, it’s frightening. Do yourself a favour, abandon your prejudices, buy a bottle, pour a glass, sit back and enjoy.

I really wanted to give this 3.5 stars. It's whisky but not as you know it. The smell takes time to come through - starts as orange and glue, then develops to coconut and the taste is crème brûlée, vanilla, coffee and very strong coconut. It's smooth and delicious but not what you'd expect from whisky. For the money, I'd rather buy Singleton, Caol Ila or Balvenie Doublewood but I'm glad that I've tried it. If it were under £30, I'd happily buy another bottle but, for the money, I'd rather have a traditional malt whisky – blended or single. I prefer Compass Box's Peat Monster or Asyla.

You tried whiskey right? Big man. You only think you tried whiskey little boy! You've never tried anything like this before (well, unless you have, then I withdraw everything). This is incredible stuff, totally gorgeous, smooth and luxurious, aged in American oak first use casks. I got a bottle for Christmas and literally never drank such amazingly delicious stuff in my life. If you are a cheapskate drink it alone, but make sure you try this before you die.

I am generally a Malt Whisky drinker with tastes ranging from rich to light, smokey to floral but I do sometimes dabble in the blended. I know that taste is down to the individual palate but, this is probably one of the best blended grains I had ever tasted in my life. To me the description of the nose and palate are bang on and I have recommended it to family and friends and will definitely buy again - maybe for the next special occasion.

Yes it's blended but that's the point. Unlike any other whisky I've tasted. No peat, no heat but a grip sipping drink that almost tastes Caribbean with its coconut tones. If someone gave it me and said it was a fine complex rum I couldn't argue on the finish but it's mid palette is still distinctly whisky. All depends on your taste but I love it as a rum fan

I have had several bottles of Hedonism over the last year and really rate the consistent smoothness, relative richness and deep flavour of this whisky. I think it is excellent value and a genuinely satisfying, quaffable and interesting spirit.

Hedonism is simply beautiful. It is light, delicate, with delicious flavours of cream, candied orange, milk chocolate and a hint of bourbon. This is an instant favourite for me and I will always stock this from now on, well done Compass Box.

A wonderful find - deeply delicious, slightly spicy, full and mature taste. Totally unlike blended single malts - a major surprise and a lucky find. I've bought several bottles now as I'm concerned supplies will run out.

A very unusual whisky - blended grain - typical Compass. And a sublime tipple. Even better than their Peat Monster (and my tastes normally lie strongly in the direction of the highly phenolic Islay single malts).

Previously tried a few single malts, but this one blows most of them out of the water. Nice thick texture and creamy chocolatey finish! It's beaten two of my favourites, Yamazaki 12 and Hibiki 12.

Really strong vanilla flavor... Maybe a bit too much creamy and sweet. Taste like caramel taffy... The echo is mild but oily so overall very nice. But too mellow to drink with rocks...

One of best examples of Compass Box, love it.Anyone who has not tasted this Whisky and want to try first compass box whisky, try it you will not be disappointed.

As with all good grain whiskys as smooth as you can get. Vanilla flavour and quite sweet, nice for a change if, like me, you prefer the smokier whiskys. Gorgeous!

A brilliant tot of whiskey expensive but well worth it. A well made blended grane (better than most single malts)

Not many quality grain whiskies available. This is great. My wife in particular loves this, and is quite unique
