We have had a multifuel stove for a couple of years now, a Stovax Stockton 5. Whilst we are very pleased with it it does suffer from the problem all stoves and woodburners suffer from, in that heat rises so whilst the top half of the room heats very quickly it can take quite a time for the whole room to benefit. We did a lot of research online and a stove fan seemed to be the answer although I was sceptical of many of the claims! However I am the first to admit I was wrong! This fan does a superb job of circulating the air so the room as a whole heats much more evenly and much quicker. Because it sits on top of the stove it is easy to direct the air in the required direction for optimal circulation.Correct positioning is essential to get the best out of the fan.Caframo also claim the fan will improve fuel efficiency, something that would seem to me very difficult to prove. However whilst it is anecdotal I think I can. As our stove is a secondary heating source, for heating the living room, as we have central heating we have never bothered to try to keep the fire in overnight, there is little point in heating an empty room! However even though we seem to use the same amount of coal in an evening we have found that since we purchased the fan the stove keeps in ever night. The only conclusion I can draw is that the fire must be burning fuel more efficiently to allow this. Because of this over a weekend it is a simple matter of adding a small quantity of coal to get the embers to catch and then the fire is in forthe day. Ceretainly burning the fire for longer periods doesn't seem to use significantly more coal than it would just for an evening.

This sits unobtrusively and silently on top of my Little Thurlow 5Kw stove. The room (17'x 11' x 8') used to get stiflingly hot even with the fire on 'tick over' and the door to the dining room open. Not any more, there is now just enough air movement (undetectable) to keep the living room comfortable and warm air going through to the dining room and up the stairs to the bedrooms, central heating is no longer required in the other rooms when the stove is lit.The only 'drawback' I found was because our stove is set in a heavy natural stone fireplace this used to get almost too hot to touch. This meant that over night the fireplace radiated heat back to the living room like a storage radiator, making the room toasty when you got up next morning. The heat is now distributed through the house during use, the fireplace gets much less hot and hence the room is much colder next morning. However having a more comfortable overall environment far outweighs this. These are expensive for what they are, would I buy one again? Definitely.

A friend told me about these back in the summer, and with winter upon us, I thought I'd give it a go. I'm always very dubious about anything new, but the fulsome reviews here convinced me to try it for myself.Like another reviewer, I was a bit disappointed with my new wood burner, a Vermont Intrepid. The sitting room, which has very low ceilings, is about 13 x 20, and although nice and warm at one end, is quite chilly at the other. Within 30 minutes of lighting the stove, the whole room is now toasty (we do not have radiators, so 'toasty' is not an expression I use very often)There is absolutely no draught whatsoever, so you don't need to worry about papers flying about or Christmas decorations being blown down.It is, as others have mentioned, silent, and although I think it is fairly ugly, when in use the propeller moves so quickly that it becomes invisible, and in the general gloom of our fireplace it's quite discreet. Ten out of ten, without a doubt.

We have a wood burning range cooker in a very small, low ceilinged kitchen - when in full flight it was so hot doing the cooking that I had to keep leaving the room for some fresh air! However, infuriatingly, the room off the kitchen never warmed up. With this little fan however, it is very noticeable that it is now a comfortable working temperature in the kitchen and the next room is almost the same temperature as the kitchen. Job therefore done, very happy. We have also used it on our sitting room log burner and left the door open in the hope of driving some warm air upstairs. That is a bit more of an "ask" as it is a bigger space. It certainly makes a noticeable difference but I suspect we need a bigger more powerful model to really crack that.Impressed with the technology.

While researching on wood stoves for narrowboats I came across people recommending the Caframo Ecofan, at first I thought they had to be exaggerating a bit but after trying it for the first time last weekend I can only agree with them, this little fan makes a whole difference. On top of the usual problem of having the heat concentrated on one spot, narrowboats suffer from the fact that the bottom part is under the water and hence the floor and up to your heaps is noticeably much colder, I was amazed by how such a small fan can distribute the heat through the whole boat, it is indeed a brilliant investment, I'm very happy with it.

Brought this despite cheaper fans on Amazon and I'm glad I did. I have a multi fuel stove in my conservatory which is the width of the house and the back of the conservatory did not get that warm? Nor did the lounge. Now not only does the whole of the conservatory get warm, so does the lounge and the passage way if the doors are open. When the fan is spinning, I cannot hear it but I can feel the effect it has. Really glad I brought it.As for the supplier, it arrived on within the dates stated, so I could not ask for more.

This is the second one I have bought (although different supplier to above). Fantastic bit of kit which improves the efficiency of the log burner - it slows down the rate at which the logs burn. Sounds impossible but true. It the blows the hot air into the room....genius. It worksBy generating a potential difference across the metal plates which then provides a current to power the fan. It doesn't actually work by convection. Keeps the boys in our house talking for ages...bonus!

Had heard about these things some time ago but hadn't actually seen one working but thought it would be worth taking a chance on and it was a chance worth taking. Excellent product. Light my stove and after say 15-20mins the fan slowly starts and speeds up the hotter it gets. My wife couldn't believe the difference in heating the room as we have a big living room with a high ceiling and it's always been hard to heat. Fan runs silently. Great job and recommded

It has definitely made a difference to the heat distribution not only in our living room but into other areas of the house when the doors are left open. We found we were burning far less coal to keep the room warm and we didn't have to turn the heating on upstairs once we installed this fan - I mean took it out of the box and placed it on the stove, that's how easy it was. A simple looking but fabulous piece of kit. Fast delivery

Is the ecofan 810 effective on a double sided woodburner?I have a double sided Woodwarm Fireview model with a flat top. That was my dilemma as same heat output both sides, i.e no heat gradient that you get on a typical one sided stove. But having asked Ecofan supplier directly, they assured me it would still work as specified. So I bought one, and yes I can assure potential doubters, that it indeed does work very well.

Excellent product; Completely inaudible but what a difference in propelling trapped hot air above our Charnwood C4 woodburner into the room despite the fairly low slung fire surround. It just fitted in the space thanks to its compact size as our fireplace is quite small being just 547mm wide. Thankfully the height from the top of the C4 to the register plate allowed it to fit.

I was not sure if this fan would work on our Contura stove which is clad with soapstone, but I need not have worried. It works beautifully, and is totally silent. The temperature in the room is more even, and the air seems fresher too as it is being moved about. A great device.

28.1.2017

So far so good. Almost silent and only just audible if the room is totally silent. Starts running at a fairly low temperature and it still going in the morning. It's difficult to say whether there is a huge difference but the temperature in the room feels more even.

Bought for friends in France who have a big room to heat. They love it and say what a difference it has made to the heat in the room. They had seen ours that is the same. Apart from the stove this is the best purchase we have made in years.

2.9.2015

Works as described, build quality is good. Operation is virtually silent. I probably wouldn't buy again with hindsight though, the fan is simply too small to make a noticeable difference within my room which is a typical size.
