I've been using this fan for a fortnight. And what a fortnight. I do hope we never see another like it. It's hot, too hot. As far as sleepless nights go, I've avoided them throughout the evil heatwave thanks to this tower fan.So assuming you're following suit and buying this to survive horrible humid nights, here are the two areas that matter.Does it cool you down? Yep. Stood 6-8 feet away from the bed, it's effective on the lowest setting. Turn it up high and you might start to think you've time travelled to December. Don't get me wrong, it won't tear your face off with its power, it's just pleasantly effective at using what it's got.Is it noisy? Ah... well... if you're looking for a silent fan (I know I was),as far as I can tell, they do not exist. Not at this price or performance anyway. So this is basically much like any contemporary fan. It makes a noise. It's not a 'loud' noise, it's a fan noise. It certainly shouldn't keep you awake - especially when the alternative is to take your chances with the heat.As for the features? The remote is fully functional. It doesn't come with the two required AAA batteries, mind. The three speed settings have had all bases covered during this brutal July. It's a minor inconvenience that you have to go through all speeds to turn it off, maybe. You can't go straight to 2, for instance. It always turns on at 1 and off at 3, cycling through all three with each button press. That means two more button presses than necessary. If you're not careful, you'll work up a sweat with all that added effort it asks of you! Nah, it's more of an odd design choice compared to fans of old than anything. The timer's a welcome feature as well, even if I am finding the idea of it ever being turned off traumatic at the moment. All said and done, I'm guessing these tower fans are mostly indistinguishable. Whether that is the case or not, I'm happy with this one.

After doing quite a bit of research on fans, this little fan seemed to fit the bill. It's ideal for either floor, worktop, desk or even a wide windowsill or shelf. It's sturdy and will not topple over easily with its nice chunky design. The fact that it has no easily accessible blades was the prime reason I bought a tower fan, having never considered them in the past, and there's a built-in ioniser which is a valuable feature.Having tried out the various settings I was also pleased with the 'chill factor' with this fan.I read on other reviews about tower fans and that of the 'breeze' option. This sounded good. It is a combination of the fan slowing down, speeding up and stopping, For me,the audible stopping and starting was intrusive, but after initially disliking this option, I now love it. Same comments for sleep mode.At first, what I was disappointed about a 'clicking' noise whenever the fan changed direction in oscillating mode. I will add that this related to the clicking noise being noticeable in a completely quiet room. However, I've had this fan for a few weeks now and those annoying sounds are no more.To sum up, would I buy this fan again? After one or two initial niggles I've returned and edited this review. I would now highly recommend this product, and I have to say, my dog absolutely loves it (!); the main reason I bought this fan was to keep him cool. I use it on the floor and dog can't easily topple it over (but yes, he is a well behaved dog). I also use it on my desk and it takes up very little space. Having this tower fan, I doubt I would ever want buy to a conventional fan again.

I got the Bionaire fan because I was very happy with the mini bedside version. In our house we have a number of tower fans all made by different companies, and so far there's very little to compare between them. I also bought a £30 one from Morrisons the day after getting this one, and comparing them based on sound level and the cooling effect of the air, there's very little between them. However, this wins by far for style: the cheap one is ugly white plastic and has big clunky buttons that click loudly when you press them, this one is a much sleeker design. Having said that I do find all the beeping annoying, especially as I only use this at night. Why does it need to beep every time you press a button? The remote control is great,I do think it's worth spending a little extra for a remote if you're using this at night. Mine even works after my son dropped it in my bedside glass of water! It really does have a good cooling effect, and I find the sound of the fan covers all those sharp noises that wake up light sleepers (like me) so for me it's a godsend for a good night's sleep in summer. The only thing I'd like to change is that you have to cycle through all the speeds: you press it once for low speed, twice for mid, three times for high and then once more to turn off: there's no other way to choose the speed or turn it off. And each time you press the button it beeps!Other than that, it's nice looking, silent moving, sturdy design, I'm very happy with it.

I've been researching fans for a while now, as due to illness I'm unable to properly regulate my body temperature. I was pushed into making a decision by the recent run of hot weather, although it would appear that in doing so I inadvertently jinxed our heatwave, so sorry about that everyone.I previously owned a full height tower fan which was ultra quiet, had a remote control and every function you could possibly wish for, bar making your coffee in the morning. Unfortunately my ex-husband now has custody of that one, but that's OK, he can use it to dry his tears.Having previously spent so much money on a fan that I now don't even have possession of, I was reluctant to do the same again.Despite mixed reviews, I decided upon this pint sized version for less than 30 quid, and I have to say, I'm pretty happy with my decision.Despite being small, it really is quite powerful and is able to cool my (decent sized) bedroom within minutes. The fan has three speeds depending on the intensity of breeze required, a decent oscillating function, a timer and a couple of different modes which alter the type of breeze. I'm sure that within all of those options there would be something to please most people. There is also an ionising function, which I was admittedly skeptical about, however it actually does make the air feel fresh and clean. Great price point, inoffensive appearance and low noise levels make this very good value indeed.Fan-tastic!

The good bits. 1 and 2 power settings are near silent on 3 it provides a good flow of air without being too noisy. It's compact and nice looking plus the remote works well. The buttons are easy to press and easy to understand. The bad bits. Assembly was a pain, the screws are inferior and chew up because it seems the screws are a little too big after screwing in more than 25% I have been unable to fully screw them in and as a result has left me with a bit of a wobbly base although it doesn't make any audible noise when wobbling and doesn't affect stability on carpet. There are signs of use which makes me wonder if this unit was new at all.I haven't used the timer functions or the sleep functionhaving only had it for an hour but I imagine with a fan like this you could leave on all the time.UPDATE 15th July 19:Received a replacement and the base is much sturdier on this one. Perhaps the first one was defective but I am happy to have bought this fan now. It is much more quieter than my regular pedestal fan (also bionaire). The current temperature indoors is 27.4°C and the fan feels refreshing obviously it's not really cold air because it's not an air conditioner but it is cool enough to feel comfortable in these hot temperatures. At this price (£34.99) it's very good value for money.

A reasonably effective slimline tower fan. Its slender form-factor is a major plus, and operation vita the four buttons on the top is slick and intuitive -as it should be given that it's a fan and therefore should not require a great deal of thought in terms of operation. The handful of different modes are effective enough and perfectly sensible, although Bionaire's idea of 'quiet' is certainly not mine -like most fans it makes a bit of a racket, so if you think this is silent operation for use in a bedroom while you're trying to sleep -think again. It's not any worse than most fans though, so name your poison.Build quality is acceptable, albeit rather cheap. The plastics are thin, the base has a decent enough footprint for stability, but mine did not come with any physical screws etc. to fix the tower to it, which is hardly ideal. I ended up physically cutting some bolts down to size with a hacksaw so base & tower could be clamped together. Operation is a bit wobbly, but OK -you won't want this as a piece of high fashion (not that I care about fashion one way or the other) but it'll do in an office etc., or for use in very hot weather. Overall -a decent enough slimline tower fan, and an acceptable price, so worth considering.

I am the worst person for sleeping, slightest noise I am awake, too hot awake, too cold awake! So I was worried about which fan to buy, I read the reviews and was still unsure, in the end I went for this one. Yes, there is a slight noise (on low) but I can sleep with it. I love the timer feature, I set the timer and fall asleep, if I wake in the night I pop it on and set the timer on the remote. There are 3 speeds, I found the lowest is enough to send a cool breeze without being too cold also this is the quietest setting, I have not tried to sleep with the other speeds so not sure if they will disturb my sleep. I also like how when not in use you can pop the remote in the back which for those like me who are forever hunting for remotes it is a nice little added feature. The only downside I have is nothing to do with the fan itself but the delivery took longer than stated, I would have bought elsewhere if I had known it wasn't coming on the day stated, so this came after our recent hot spell so I cannot say how it was in that extreme heat but in the days since it has been amazing.

Mine broke so looked for new - pricy....many looked tinny, few had multi levels or timers that I need - this one was one of dearer ones with ioniser, 3 speeds, oscillates, and 8hr timer....Chronic asthmatic - been coughing every night for months - heard ioniser good - had it about 10 days - never coughed at night once - to some in may seem noisy but half the noise of other ones - I live alone and find it comforting - leave it on at night and actually makes me sleep!! Level 1 easily fills my lg double bedroom keeping air fresh and cool - even today with 30C heatwave, only on level 2....strong, neat, silver and white, blue lights when on - visually sharp, attractive, love it and am pl I paid that price....certainly in terms of timer and ioniser - can highly recommend on basis of my own health and will certainly buy again as soon as possible....people dying in the heatwave, I'm cool as cool in here...it's brill....2 v old cats are safe and cool and un-distressed as well!! Squirrel 59 - 14.7.14. What is cost when saving life??

I was looking for a good inexpensive fan as a temporary solution to cool down a small bedroom (2,5m x 2,5m) which bakes in full, late afternoon sun and is very uncomfortable to fall sleep in at night. This fan is a nice design and sits perfectly on a small desk without taking up much space. The air flow temperature is better than I expected after reading other reviews so that was a pleasant surprise. The lowest setting is still cold for such a small fan and more than sufficient to eliminate the hot, stifling air in the room before bedtime. The highest setting is too strong at close range but it will be much appreciated during a heat wave! The only downside so far (the reason for removing a star)is the fan is not quiet, on sleep mode I can still hear it from outside the bedroom door. It’s not irritating but it is an audible hum. My intention with purchasing the fan was just to cool down the room before sleeping and not to leave it running all night so for me this is good enough.

This is the smallest fan I've ever had. It replaces my previous tower fan which was a little bigger. It looks pretty good in a minimalist white room - with the exception of the silver trim and top console, the entire fan and the cable/plug is white. This tower delivers a fair amount of airflow for its tiny size. The 'natural breeze' mode, which randomises the fan speed at regular intervals, seems a bit of a gimmick to me, but some may like it. Oscillating mode turns about 90 degrees. All buttons on top are digital, and beep when pressed. The console indicators light up blue and are quite bright at night; sadly there is no way to dim or disable them. The unit will default to off in the event of a power cut, which could be seen as a slight disadvantage. It would be nice if the power and speed buttons were separated, so I didn't have to press the power button three times to get to speed 1 on each use.

This is the first tower fan I have had and I am quite impressed. It is very slim and so is so much less obtrusive than conventional fans. It does not need much floor space and fits nicely in a corner. The power lead is not overly long though, so it does need to be near a plug socket. There are three speed options and also a 'breeze' mode which simulates a natural breeze effect. I particularly like this feature, especially when using the fan at night time as it isn't so intense. The timer mode is also handy for night time, you can choose for it to turn off after 1,2,4 or 8 hours. This is also a lot quieter than other fans. One slight fault is that it has a slight wobble, nothing too major but may be an issue if knocked by a child. All in all I am pleased and would buy another fan in this style if I needed one. Lets just hope we get some British sunshine in order for me to fully appreciate this!

It was really easy to put together with 4 screws at the bottom so make sure you have a phillips on hand. It was also a little bigger than i was expecting which is good. The fan has 3 speed settings and a rotate option.. in order to turn the fan off you have to go through all 3 fan speeds, however it's a minor quibble on my part. The space grey and black design gives a really expensive look to the product, and the remote has a little pocket (what I thought was a handle/finger hole) at the back of the fan to ensure it doesn't get misplaced - which I thought was a nice little touch. You can set the fan to sleep mode on either 1, 2, 4 or 8hrs so I've been using that setting overnight. There are a few other settings which I haven't used however overall I rate it highly. It's quite expensive however I purchased it slightly reduced and I'm super happy - it's quiet and cool.

The only room in our house that's ever required a fan, is my son's bedroom, due to the build up of heat from electricals and rising heat from the kitchen. This is the first year we've needed a fan in the livingroom, and after looking at several, on a few websites; I settled on this one. So glad I did! The price reduction was a bonus - as was the fast delivery, but the unit itself has exceeded all expectations. So simple to assemble - I didn't even need the instructions - same with its operation! It's so much quieter than I thought it would be - so much so that my 3 cats weren't freaked by it and happily impersonate Baywatch characters - allowing the cool air to blow through their fur,as they turn their heads from side to side in slo mo! Easy to fall asleep through with sleep mode - so no waking up freezing later.

This is a really awesome little fan. Our room was feeling stuffy recently as it is getting warmer and we'd have to leave the window open at night so that we could cool it down, but it is often noisy in the morning outside, so that was becoming more and more annoying. With this fan, we are able to cool the room completely down (without having the window open) and eliminate any noise we might hear from outside. I've tried both the "sleep" and fan modes while sleeping and somehow the "sleep" mode helps me sleep better. Don't know why but hey, it works. Not too noisy if you're used to having a fan on while you're sleeping. As our room is quite small, we only need to turn it on level 1 (out of 3)at night. Works like a charm. This fan is worth the money to me.

The fan itself is good, it’s functionality is great and the settings enable you to set it to time off after 1,2,3,4 hours which is useful when using at night to save a bit of cash on electricity. The autorotation is great and has a good range. The issue I have is the plug. It’s a completely different colour to the rest of the unit and the wire. It’s a beige colour and looks like it’s been stripped off a 1970s vacuum cleaner. I was debating sending it back as it looked rough but the fan was so effective it made up for the slightly poor plug aesthetics. If the plug is hidden or not obvious it’s a winner, great product. If you can see the plug and have a modern house then be aware the plug is prehistoric and visually looks terrible.
