I have had one of these fans for two years, and it was already assembled when I got it secondhand. It has been a godsend to me, and I have used it nearly everyday for the last few years, and have it on all day and night when it is humid and hot. Sometimes at night I can only have it on low setting as it is powerful. The only reason for buying another, is that I damaged it by moving it around so much, and not carrying it from the base stem but picking it up from the middle as I carried it from my lounge to my bedroom, and this caused a crack in the top stem. Its easy to assemble, and I would just like to make a few points about assembly, as I was a bit confused about putting all the bits together.I have gone into a lot of detail to help anyone like me, who has never put together something like this before, so please take time to read it and when you have the fan and the instructions in your hand this may help you as an extra guide. On the front of the motor are 3 small silver screws (don't try to undo them like I did - they are holding the black panel of the motor in place. As well as the 3 silver screws, there are 3 little black plastic, sticking out prongs ( 2 at the top and 1 below ). As you look straight onto them (they are difficult to see straight away, but feel for them and it will make it easier) they form an upside down triangle. It is these small black prongs that you place the rear fan guard against carefully, and hold guard gently in place, and next screw the big round black plastic thing, with the big hole in the middle onto the silver stem tightening against it. So if you have done it correctly, you should have the back mesh guard flat against the motor with the silver stem sticking out and the black round thing on that. You then slide the blades all the way onto the silver stem, and then you place the large black plastic cap onto the stem, but you screw it on anti-clockwise to tighten it all in place. Finally take the front mesh guard, and all around there are flat metal tabs, and these lift up and you attach the two mesh guards together by closing these little metal tabs down onto the back mesh guard. They are a bit stiff at first to lift up but they do move. I hope this helps. The Air and Water centre are brilliant and sent me my fan within a few days of ordering. Would definitely recommend them 100 per cent and also they have a good customer service team who answer the phone straight away.

I was looking for a strong, attractive remote controlled fan to blow away smoke from a room quickly and effectively as well as freshen the air.I also wanted a large pedestal fan that was adjustable in height and that oscillates. A timer was another bonus I wanted. In depth research pointed me to this and having used it for 2 months now it has proved to be one of the best buys I've made with Amazon. The blue metallic disc in the centre of the fan contrasting with the shiny silver cage and stand actually makes this an attractive piece to look at. The large motor casing gives weight to the unit and the large foot stand means it cannot be knocked over easily.I am totally impressed by the remote control settings - slow, med, fast and intermittent modes. Hour settings for timer mode means I can set it to stop and walk away. The noise after two months is consistent, being just the noise of the fan spinning - no extraneous noises of the oscillation or casing. None of those creeping screechy noises I've had with desk fans. This purity of sound I find quite soothing, albeit not quiet. I have fallen asleep quite happily with the fan on.The only manual intervention needed is to set the angle of the head, which is a simple clicking up or down.Putting it together was a total nightmare as a useless DIYer. But walking away and returning later as well as RTFM (read the beep manual) gave the desired result. Not had a problem with it since 2 months of getting it working. Just switches on and adjusts its setting by the press of a button on the sleek silver remote (battery included).Just love it.

It's not as quiet as others had said but this is a quality fan. This replaces another pedestal fan that I thought was relatively noisy.I bought this one mainly because it has a remote control. It means that if it is too noisy for the missus, she can turn it off without getting out of bed. I looked at the Dyson fan and tried it in store. But it seemed quite noisy. And I can't quite bring myself to spend several hundred. On a fan! So, to my impressions:1. The quality of the fan is impressive. It all fits together nicely. The instructions aren't quite that clear and I found that I needed to go an get a pair of pliers to take off the 'front' screw nut.It was already screwed to the end of the fan shaft but the instructions don't mention this as a step. There was also a plastic sleeve over the shaft that will need to be removed.2. The remote is neat. Don't do what I did and undo the screws at the back of the remote. The battery is a (supplied) button cell and there's a compartment that just pulls out of the bottom of the remote!3. Seems a wee bit noisier than the Wickes pedestal fan it replaces. But it seems to produce an altogether efficient hum. We watch the TV over this and so you don't notice.4. The timer is going to be useful. I'd probably set it to an hour. And hopefully I'll be asleep before then..

The vast complimentary reviews tempted me to get this fan as a replacement for a 16" desk fan in the bedroom. I have now had this gem for about a month and it is in daily and virtually continuous use. I have not been disappointed. The fan comes well packaged with simple instructions, though anybody with a minimum of mechanical understanding should be able to assemble in full in about 3 minutes flat. The parts slot or screw together easily and although the stand gives the appearance of being slightly flimsy, it actually does the job of supporting the fan really well. The remote is a boon and again seems flimsy, but very responsive to adjusting fan speed, on/off and timer functions. The guard is well made and secure. If I have a criticism it would have to be that the narrow blades of the fan make for a slightly noisy experience, which nevertheless can be lost by the sound of the TV and one gets used to it very quickly. In short, this is an outstanding piece of equipment that I would recommend to anybody.

Good points:Very quiet for a fan of this price even at higher settingsRemote control for using in bed is a good ideaThe sleep timer options for bed time use are goodVery easy to put together - it took me 5 minutes to assemble.I like the retro look - very smart and looks like a quality productThe main part of the fan - the motor feels heavy and well constructed.Even the remote looks coolBad points:The telescopic stand could have gone a little bit higher but still a good floor stand. The three modes are just silly - why would you want it to alternate between speeds at different intervals?Plus the mode makes a loud clicking noise when it auto changes to a different speed which rather than sootheyou to sleep would probably keep you awake longer. No batteries for remote and it needs a scredriver to get back off.Overall:Not only will this fan keep you cool but it looks cool too.

Easy to put together. Looks good but the chrome effect is pretty fake and plastic. Blows well on all settings but do not think for one moment that this is quiet because it is not. I bought this solely for use when using a bike on a turbo trainer. Excellent for that especially with the remote control facility but there is no way I could stand this in a bedroom even on lowest setting. .....and talking of the remote, it works fine but is the most 'crappy' lightweight piece of junk I think I have ever had or seen. Don't leave it near the fan or it will blow away and you will never see it again!! 4 stars as it blows well and does what I want it to do.would have scored 1 or 2 though has I bought it on recommendations as to it being quiet or for bedroom use.

Fantastic fan. In the last few days, we have had temperatures unto 38 degrees ( hottest in the last decade) and this fan arrived just in time to be used in a big open plan living room kitchen. I found it circulated air rather well and is no more or less noisy than the other table fans in the house, infact I find it on the quiet side. Build quality is really good and a lot of people have commented that it looks really nice. Has 3 speeds, timer and sleep mode. The remote has a nice case that hangs by a hook under the fan. I find it useful not to go about looking for it all over. Delivery was really fast and assembly took 15 mins on my own ( and I'm 38 weeks preg!).I wouldn't recommend lifting the fan up on your own after assembly as it is rather heavy.

I have to say i brought a returned version of this fan at a reduced price of £29.99 when the full price is £69.99 and i was skeptical but i decided to give it a go anyway and i was highly impressed, it feels sturdy with a really good build quality and has a good height adjustment on it with a strong sturdy build. The added remote feature is also really handy for me. The brushed chrome look makes the fan standout and look good at the same time. On the low speed it provides enough air flow and cooling effect to cool the entire room and im pleasantly surprised. The remote on the other hand does feel a tad cheap but then that is not a major flaw and does not effect the fan in anyway.10/10 and really impressed with it.

I bought one of these fans about 8 years ago. It worked perfectly until my large pup knocked it over last year and then the fan made a horrible rattling noise after that which I couldn't bare in the bedroom. Until then, the fan worked amazingly well. It was like having a cool hurricane blasting through the bedroom which I loved! I bought a slightly cheaper plastic Prem-I-air fan last year....what a waste of money! On the highest setting it was like a breeze. No power at all. I like a full on gale blowing on me in hot stuffy weather, this fan was perfect!

What a pleasant change! Received item in good time...grabbed my tools...and opened the box. To my delight, the fan took about 5 minutes to erect, and required the use of NO TOOLS. The fan looks great, and works perfectly - the remote control is also very useful - and comes with a battery. I erected a different pedestal fan just last week, and what a pain it was - in complete contrast to this beauty. The only addition I would have preferred is for the pedestal to be a little higher - but this is being picky. Just buy one...you will not regret it.

I felt my old fan was not as efficient as it should be bought this fan along with the high velocity air circulator, I found it had the same out put as my old fan but in its favour it is operated by remote control which I find very useful. It is quieter than my old fan but I still have to turn up the TV. Would I recomed it, yes I probably would the chrome finish looks as if it will do the business, remote control rather tacky chrome paint covering a plastic remote control which does not look as if it will last the pace.

This fan is amazing I have purchased two previously would not buy any other. I have this fan on all year round and it is onAll night every night because I suffer with breathing problems it helps enormously. I have never had one break down everThe only reason I replace them is I have them on full power all the time and the only thing I have noticed is they lose a littleOf that power over time. But if you only require a fan occasionally these are perfect they will last years and the remoteControl is an absolute bonus

Bought this fan 14 months ago and still doing brilliantly. Had a similar fan, which lasted 21 years, only broke because was knocked very hard over. Was the reason I bought this. Am bed ridden a lot and have it on for long periods of time. Remote control very good. Replaced battery once. I mainly use it at lowest speed at a fixed position, works very well, only had to turn up once, even in this hot summer. Weighted bottom is good feature, keeps stable even if pushed past. Very good buy.

22.7.2013

I assembled this in 5 minutes, with minimal need for the instructions, and I feel that I have built it perfectly - which is a good feeling and not always the case. All screws and bolts tighten easily. The operation is quiet, good volume of air. The mode and timer functions are straightforward and the remote easy to understand. It's all feels pretty near premium quality - except only for the remote which feels flimsy. I'd liken this fan to a Ford Focus, or a Volvo.

13.5.2016

I bought this to replace a 12 year old version oft he same fan. Easy to put together and smart enough to not be an eyesore in the house. Very efficient airflow and as as result is a little noisy but anything producing that amount of airflow is going to be! It is more efficient on low than the old version was on high! Only criticism would be that the remote is very tacky and quite poor quality so I would wonder if it will last.
