I don't know how to rate this as it's merely a filter jug but I do feel I have to point out some things, both good and bad.I initially really liked this (and still am in favour of it) as it looks nice appearance wise, it fits perfectly in both my fridge and on the kitchen counter. Quite easy to pour from and water doesn't dribble everywhere once you've finished pouring. Also, the water did taste better and my glass kettle is free from limescale and other issues that happen when you pour hard water directly into it.I've also not had any black particles leaking into my water nor have I experienced any side effects if there is a possibility of my having ingested any, however, that's not to say there isn't a little problem regarding this.I noticed, due a design flaw, that there is residual water that gets left in the lower tank( under the dedicated space for the actual cartridge). This does retain some water mixed in with said black particles but because of the fit of the cartridge over it, it never spills over when you pour a cup of water. It also doesn't deposit itself at the bottom of your jug because the water that passes directly through the filter cartridge and into the hole which lets out the water into the main jug doesn't touch the water that is idlly sitting in the space around the cartridge.I've filled and refilled the jug with water and poured various amounts of water into white cups to see if there are any black particles and haven't had it happen at all so I am confident that even though it really shouldn't do that at all, it doesn't get into the water in the jug and is only in the compartment. I've attached pictures to make it more clear what I am on about. The particles in the white cup are from the residual water that is left under the cartridge and NOT from the water you pour from the main jug. As you can sew the water in the actual jug above the cookertop is perfectly transparent without any black or filter particles.

Excellent product.Even so, reason for 4 stars is owing to initial bewilderment at finding my way through the discouraging abundance of UK user instructions - written for several variations of water jugs. You just need to know what to look for.For a product consisting of only four items, lid, jug, funnel and cartridge, there is not much to be said and a simple instruction sheet dedicated to this model would have been more welcome. However, one mistake I made was with initial cleaning in a dishwasher, to not include the lid. Instead, clean by hand. Realising it was owing to the Brita Memo (display unit) and seeing a screwdriver slot to remove it, I did so thinking to then include the lid in the dishwasher.Mistake. Much later, when finally reading the end of the lengthy instructions, about disposal of the item, were the words, ' . . it should not be removed for any other reason than to dispose of it.' At least the item has clicked securely back into place on the lid. What could go wrong?!

I brought this - as the last one I brought which was a different make, which I done a review about.. was terrible. The filter wouldn’t even go on properly and when it did you would see black stuff and bits in the glass! Anyway, I have heard from a lot of people Brita are the best :) I brought the purple colour and it’s such a nice colour. The filter works SO good, and the water tastes much nicer and it’s clear. I hate tap water, I can’t drink it. I also, find it pretty disgusting how much stuff there is in tap water! Besides it’s much nicer having a filter jug and it being kept fresh and cold, straight from the fridge. Make sure you do change your filter , as otherwise it is useless and also, would build up bacteria. Please make sure you follow the instructions on how to prepare the filter, as I didn’t and noticed little black bits floating around in the water. This is because I did not get the filter out and shake it under tap water and then flush it out through 2 litres of water.

Large capacity Brita filter jug. This jug is huge, ideal for a family, it’s too large to fit in the door, so allow for a big gap (It’s the same height as a four pint milk bottle) between shelves in your fridge to fit it in. Simply press the edge of the lid cover and it flips up to allow filling from a tap. Let the water filter through in the fridge, then pour out cold filtered, limescale free, great tasting water, the spout cover opens and closes automatically. The water in the jug is covered at all times when stored in the fridge.Being white and clear, it hides any limescale, my previous Brita jug was blue and soon looked a bit of a mess around the lid, this one even after 2 years of daily use, still looks like new. We now use it to fill the kettle and coffee machine too, these are now limescale free, the water tank on the coffee machine is still like new.Very pleased with this purchase, great addition to the kitchen.

I'm a uni student living in halls and over the summer I've been trying to cut down on the amount of plastic waste I produce. So I thought this would be good to try so I wouldn't have to keep buying plastic water bottles every week bearing in mind that student halls taps aren't the best and the 'cold' tap tending to always be more on the warmer side which isn't that refreshing. Therefore, I optioned for this alternative as a slightly cheaper option as well as easier than carrying a 12 pack of water from the local store and then up 3 flights of stairs along with other essentials. The jug fits perfectly in the fridge and doesn't take up much room. The filters are easy to change once a month and the filtered water tastes really nice when chilled in the fridge compared to the warm water that the accommodation taps provide.Overall, I highly recommend this product to anyone as an easier and cheaper option to water bottles.

We have very hard water in our area so appliances were being destroyed by scale despite regular descaling and the drinking water is horrid. Therefore we were buying bottled water. No more since buying this water jug. The standard size is big enough for us (3 adults). I fill it each morning and it fits nicely into my fridge door. The water does taste clean. The only frustrating point is the ‘instructions for use.’ Printed in every language and opens up to the size of a sheet of wallpaper. Don’t even bother reading. Go onto YouTube and watch a demo of how the cartridge goes in, it’s pretty simple and most you I’m sure could work it out anyway, but I wanted to get it right. You should rinse the cartridge through before inserting so ensure you watch a correct video that demonstrates this; or good luck with reading the BRITA instructions!

Edit: After getting in contact with Brita, I have received a new filter. It turns out that the initial one was faulty so the water came out bitter, sour and undrinkable. Now, 2 months in, everything is going well. Water taste good and I got used to the sweeter taste. Saved me a lot of £££ every month as I don't buy bottled water anymore. The jug is good and lid holds water very well when pouring. I was afraid it will pop and spill everything. The handle is not so comfortable though. Also the digital dial only counts weeks not how much water you actual filter. I try and keep track more or less and change mine ones in 6-7 weeks ( at around 90L of filtered water).Overall very good product for the price.I bough this over Zero Water as I'm pretty sure taking out all the minerals can't be good for your health.

Having moved to a city centre from a rural location, the taste of the water just isn't the same so I bought this product. I have to say I have had it for around 2 months now and it's perfect! It fits in the fridge door and when full can probably give you 2 proper glasses of water. It's a great way to always have cold drinkable water on hand - especially now the weather is warming up.I haven't had to swap out the filter yet but I like that there's an indicator on the lid to let you know when it's time to do so as this is definitely something I'd forget to do!The jug is easy to fill as you can flip the lid open and fill it that way.I also like that the filter chamber holds plenty of water - you can pretty much fill the jug all at once and then leave it to filter!

We have been using BRITA filters for a couple of years now and they are nice. Eventually we bought a new one as I broke the one we had trying to replace the filter, also the jag will collect salts and will be looking a bit weather over time so expect to change it about 18-24 months. They have improved the design of the filter so it's easier to replace it now which is good. The taste of the water coming out is great, miles better than the unfiltered water which I wouldn't even consider drinking or giving to the children. This particular model gives you a "timer" that just tracks 4 weeks. It doesn't actually measure how many liters of water have been filtered like the previous Brita we had.Edit- after about 6-7 months this little timer stopped working altogether.

I have a skin complaint and have been trying to find the cause of my recent flare ups. I read on a support website that the hardness of the water from my taps could be a factor so decided to try filtering my water. [Willing to try anything at this stage] I love the jug, it fits easily in the door of my fridge. It came with a filter which was super easy to fit. There is a timer on the lid to indicate when to change the filter which should last about 28 days. I can't say I like the taste as much as straight from the tap but I am persevering. I will admit, however, that I no longer have a bad taste in my mouth first thing in the morning which has to be due to the water filter.I will update this review in a few months with regard to the skin flare up issue.

I can’t quite believe the difference this makes! We live in an area with very hard water and since giving up having milk in my tea (due to dietary requirements), I had noticed the scum that floated on the surface of the tea and that was left inside the mug. I was intrigued as to whether a water filter would help so ordered this. I have just done a comparison and am shocked! The filtered water has produced the most gorgeous chestnut coloured tea, not a bit of scum, the clearest tea I’ve ever seen! Well, as for the unfiltered tea that I have been used to, it looks dark and sludgy. Needless to say I am converted! I would highly recommend this, if like me, you live in a hard water area.Fantastic!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My area is supposed to produce good water, and it probably does. Except that it travels from a tank far from my kitchen and seems stale. I used to have one of these in my last home where the water truly was awful with chlorine etc, and some weeks ago wondered if I should have a filter again. Yes, I should have one, and this is it. I can drink water not only effectively clear and clean, but cold as the jug is in the fridge. Brita has always had a good reputation, but I have got non Brita filters, which I assume will work as well as the filter that came with it. But filtered water is much cheaper than bottled. I am so glad I went mad and got this, and it is highly recommended.

Having owned this for a few weeks now I've found it easy to fill and use, and the water flavour is good. However the timer is obviously designed to make you buy cartridges before it's necessary! According to the instructions the filter cartridge should last for up to 100 litres in a hard water area, and/or should be changed every 4 weeks. I've been using the jug for less than 4 weeks and only filled it with up to 65 litres (once or possibly twice a day) but the timer is prompting me to replace the filter. One other issue is the instruction leaflet which opens up like a map instead of in booklet format, making it awkward to find the right section to read in English.

Brought this as a replacement for bottles water as my fiancee went drink tap water.. we were going through 3 or 4 bottles a week so instead of wasting all this plastic we thought we would try this water filter only brought yesterday but she loves it already and to be fair yes it's slightly more expensive but more environmentally friendly as the filters are recyclable and we aren't just chucking bottles away weekly just 1 filter every 4 to 6 weeks so great product.. easy to use and set up. Great taste and a digital screen on top telling you when to change your filter. And in the product box you get a extra year warranty and free parts replacement
