Right, I'm no expert with Filter jugs, but nearly every review of every brand has someone moaning about black stuff appearing at the bottom of the jug. It seems to me that people just expect to whack the filter in, turn on the tap, fill the jug, and bobs your uncle - clean water. But if you actually read the instruction manual (extremely dull I know) it quite clearly states you need to prime the filter. First wash the filter in water for a minute. Then fit the filter. Fill the jug. Wait for it to filter. Chuck water away. Do exactly the same again for the 2nd time. On the 3rd time, you can now stick the jug in the fridge and enjoy clean, fresh water. And next up... these people who say they are mislead by the 2.4l jug.I mean come on. The jug is 2.4l, but it can't have 2.4l of water in it otherwise where would the filter go? How would it filter if the jug was full? Honestly, these people. How massive would you need the jug to be to fit 2.4l of water, with the filtration system? Do you really want a 4l jug in your fridge? Would you then complain its too big?Read the info before buying. It drives me nuts. Go ahead and buy your massive 4l jug and expect it to fit in your fridge with 4l of water. It won't fit, and it won't filter 4l of water.

Would have given this product 3 stars but for the fact I got it for £13 including 3 cartridges which in themselves cost about this amount. Previously had a BRITA Elemaris which needed replacing. There is no comparison between the 2 jugs. This one is a lotter thinner and lighter so time will tell how long it lasts. The filler spout on tis jug has to be held open with you thumb which is tricky as you have to wrap your little finger round the handle at the same time and as the jug fills and gets heavier it may cause some people difficulties in keeping it upright. Also as there is no "float" you have to judge when to stop filling so on occasions water has spilled over. The other issue is that if you use all the water in one go then put the jug upright again there is a fair amount of water that drains back into the jug resulting in re-filtering. Overall you do get used to the quirks and if you can get it for £15 to £20 with 3 filters it is a good buy.

Wished I had purchased this jug a lot earlier! Since moving to London, I’ve been drinking bottled water as I hate the taste of the tap water! This purchase has saved me money and is a lot more environmentally friendly!I watched a YouTube video which shows how to change the filter. Basically it said each would last about 1 month - 2 months and to change when its stops tasting like filtered water’.1. Fill up half the jug and place the filter in until all the bubbles have stopped, remove the filter and empty the jug;2. Put the inner plastic piece into the jug, place in the filter, fill with water, allow the water to filter then empty..repeat process twice.Pictured instructions were a bit confusing for me!

my friend says it tastes weird but, it taste perfect to me. since the tap water is slightly smelly, it filters the smell and probably filters the water contents or kills the smell of tap water.should be better than bottled water since bottled waters contain micro plastic and remain in bottles for quite a while. but Tap water comes in the pipe and you filter and drink immediately.the filter seems very very sensitive. since in the begining it filters quick. while at the end of a month, filters a little bit slower. means it filters the micro dirts and micro dirts stuck in the filter building up narrows down the way to the water, so the filter gets slower and you need to replace the filter.

Cleaning - easy to disassemble and clean - only the handle is double skinned.Convenience - fits in the fridge door but even this modest sized version occupies a bit over 2 big bottle spaces.Taste: better than tap water but not as good as Evian imho - but this is personal, you may disagree.Summary: desperately trying to avoid buying water (and everything else) in plastic and this is helping to reduce our plastic usage significantly BUT I wish the water tasted just a little better so I could ditch Evian completely.Recommended for cooking, squashes etc. etc. but I often revert to Evian for straight drinking (sadly)

This jug fits nicely in the door of our fridge next to the milk. The refill filters are not too expensive. the top bit (where you put unfiltered water) is sealed off from the bottom bit (where the filtered water comes out. ) which means you can pour water even whilst water is filtering. The button on top is sometimes a little annoying when you have to reset the timer (though the timer is a great feature) because when you're holding it down it will stop counting and you will have to start holiding it down again. I think you just have to press it reeeally hard so it can reset all the way. not really a big deal though

Comes with all you need to get you started and I noticed the difference immediately. With the addition of the 3 filters I don’t have to worry about getting more for a few months . The jug fits perfectly in my fridge door and the display on the lid counts down each week so I know when to change the filter. Although it is just a jug which filters water I was a little apprehensive when I first got it as I did not know how to correctly set it up, but a quick YouTube video later and I was away. Even though the filters are quite expensive, I have saved quite a bit of money not having to buy bottled water anymore.

A well-trusted brand, one of the original water filtering companies, hence why I choose this. If you’re like me want to limit your plastic waste (I was doing a 2-litre bottle of water a day) then this is a good ethical choice. I got this particular one due to its fridge friendly size. By filtering tap water, you reduce the number of plastic particles you consume, which is healthier. The water also tastes cleaner and crisper.Good value for money too, as you get three cartridges with it, so will last you at least 3 months. Although I tend to push mine for double that amount with no problems.

I wouldn't be without a filter jug now as we have really hard water and it really does make a difference to the taste of our water and the furring up of our kettle and coffee machine etc. They are much easier to keep clean with less build up of calcium. This Brita filter does the job really well. It's easy to fill and easy to clean. The only slight reservation I'd offer is that it's sometimes a bit tricky to set the timer button to four weeks when you change the filter. You have to press down really hard and hold it there! but it works in the end. Highly recommend.

I live in a hardwater area, and after using this filter for 3mths, I don’t think I could go back to tap water again. It’s revolting! The filter clears out all the bitterness, the crunchy and metallic ugh flavours, and leaves it tasting delicious! You get 3 filters with this jug, the filters last longer than advertised, you can also taste when the filter needs changing, so you can ignore the indicator on the lid. I got 2.5months out of one filter before I could taste the difference (I live alone so the filter didn’t get used as often as it would for a family).

ive had various water filters over the years as we live in a hard chalk area. So the water filters do not last that long because they start to look aweful. Saying that i find Brita to be the best at what they do . With this model i find the refill "flap" a good fixture and makes it a lot easier to refill via using a water jug . However i do not like the Water gauege on the top as its hard to make out when to change the filter,....i will just do what i normally do and wait for the yucky taste to come back !...otherwise its well made and a good price.

I've used the old Brita water jugs for years. They finally needed replacing and I could only get the Marella jugs, one for the kitchen and one for the fridge. Really work well, no leaking lids and very easy to clean and keep clean. I live in London which has really hard water which is OK to drink and quite healthy but doesn't taste amazing. So I save a fortune on bottled water by twice filtering the drinking water. Once in the kitchen jug which is great for tea, then pour from that jug to the smaller door fridge jug for drinking. Works very well.

If you're questioning whether you should buy this jug, I'd say go for it and I promise you won't regret it! Before this I'd owned a shop brand filter jug for 2 years and I can honestly say the quality of that was no where near that of the Brita filter jug. This has been designed so well making each step better and easier including filling the jug, replacing filter cartridges and massively improving the taste of tap water. I really can't recommend both the Brita jug and filter cartridges enough!

Life changing product!I was a bit hesitant reading the negative reviews but at the end I had a choice of a constant purchase of bottled water, a horrible taste of my tap water or... getting a water filter jug... And viola! I am in love with my water now. After 4 years of drinking horrible tap water and spending money in supermarkets I now have my wonderful magic jug, transforming horrid into a bliss. I have definitely started to drink more water and now it’s just a pure pleasure. De-li-cious!
