This whisky is very nice indeed and seldom found in England - if the seller reads this though, we always seem to have problems with delivery. Either we get a notice from Amazon saying it has been damaged so has been returned to seller (no cost implications for us I hasten to add !) or we get a failed delivery. Today, for example, delivery was apparently attempted at 1403. Well that is very odd as not only was I in but I was on top of a roof with full view of both entrances to the house - I was trimming back hedges and ivy. There was no attempted delivery - would stake my life on it ! What is going on I wonder - only seems to affect alcohol deliveries from Amazon - everything else we order comes through without any problem.I will be interested to see if it makes it tomorrow ! Good job I have CCTV installed so can check on it :)

I've long been a fan of Bowmore's 12 year old offering, but having tried the 'new' Legend and some other similarly aged whiskies from other distilleries I've found new love for this classic. It has honeyed fruit on the nose and initially on the palate, but that's soon kicked into submission by a complex warmth of leathery, smoky deliciousness that belies its age. The finish is as promised, long and lingering, which makes this an ideal sipping drink over those long winter nights. When it's on offer under £30 it's tremendous value, at under £25 it's a steal and makes a mockery of the 'new' Bowmore Legend which isn't really a patch on the old one.I've reviewed that as well and provided a side-by-side so you can see the colour difference too if that's of interest.Slàinte!

Of all the peated malts I've tried thus far, this is by far the least aggressive while still conforming to the island character. The turf and smoke notes aren't quite as subtle as something like Ardmore Legacy, but it's a long way from as intense as anything else in the genre, such as Laphroaig and Lagavulin. It's also married to a distinct and artificial sweetness that, while some may appreciate, I find to be slightly off-putting. That said, this is a fine whisky for less than £30 and would make an excellent gift for someone new to island malts. I feel a bit conflicted about giving this 4/5 when really it's around 4.5/5 based on its normal price of £25,but it has its foot in both peated and unpeated camps and I am firmly in favour of the mossy reek.

This was the only whisky my grandmother would drink, everything else she ever tried just wouldn't measure up to it.I had to make this the first whisky I tried and initially it was too smoky for me. I stuck to Speyside whisky's for a number of years but now I am happy to say after trying this again it is much more to my taste and I would now describe most Speyside whisky's as a bit too light.Bowmore is something special to enjoy in the evening. I'm no expert but my tasting notes are:A lovely deep amber colour.Warming and smokeyOak forestHoneyAn all round lovely and well balanced drink especially good value at its current price point.I will be buying again and would recommend to any whisky lover.

I do enjoy my malts and like other like minded souls, I have my firm favourites. I thought it about time I tried hard to 'get' Islay malts. I know for sure I do not like Laphroaig. Surprisingly, I like Lagavulin, peaty but with a sweet finish that suits my taste buds. But what better way to try other brands than to buy a few miniatures. The chosen three were, Bowmore, Ardbeg (big peat flavour, absolutely not for me) and Bunnahabhain (ok, not highly peated, but didn't blow me away).Which takes me back to Bowmore. Not an overpowering peatiness, with other interesting flavour notes going on that make this a very accessible malt. This is a malt I will return to and know that I'm in for an enjoyable dram.

Ok, so the story goes like this. I bought the Bowmore No1 because i found it on the cheap and because i never had Bowmore before, so i thought what the hell. I admit liked it too much. It had real character and a whiff of peatiness i found just right. So i figured if No1 is so good just imagine how good the 12yo will be. Alas not so. Dont get me wrong, it is nice and very drinkable. I didnt find the honey, lemon or chocolate tastes they proclaim to exist, but then again i very rarely do. I did get however a very pleasant caramelish/toffish taste.Overall, it is a very drinkable whisky, great for a casual night in, but just too bog standard. Personally i liked the No1 a lot more but thats me.

I'm a novice. I only know what I've read and researched.Having said that I have bought quite a few, varied sorts of whisky recently ... Bourbon, Scotch, Irish ... blended, single malts, peaty and non peaty. And, in my ignorance, I have to say the Bowmore 12 isn't, TO ME, as pleasing as the Laphroaig Quarter cask.I don't find the Q.C. fearsome or frightening. And I'm a novice - a mere beginner. But it gets good reviews elsewhere, so clearly it's a very personal thing. But I'll not get another all the time Laphroaig 10 year, Select and Quarter Cask is available at such reasonable prices on Amazon.

Bowmore 12yo has a place in many hearts as Islay's 'medium-peated' Malt. A pronounced iodine character with plant of pepper, the current 12yo Bottling is a welcome return to the classic Bowmore of the 1960s and 1970s, with the emphasis on tropical fruit and smoke..Tasting NotesNose - Appetising combo of smoke and caramelised pineapple with a heady hit of tropical fruit.Palate - Some lovely smokiness, but the fruity elements really sing here: Pineapple, peach and mango all dancing with the smoke that surrounds them. Great balance.Finish - Rather soft and relaxing, with the smoke gently fading.

I tend to go for Japanese - Suntory and Yamazaki whiskey for that extra special taste every now and again. I really like this Bowmore and definitely on my buy and re stock list. You will not be disappointed with this subtle peaty number with it's lemon and honey tones! The first sip is earthy, and yet, once the two taste tones kick in almost instantly, you begin to encounter the infusion of flavours hitting the palate! I Have to admit, i don't normally finish off a twelve year old so quickly but with another one on the way, it's a shame to keep this one hanging around. - Dw

As a person with not a very discerning palate I was trying to decide which of the several whisky's I have tried lately is my favourite. I'm fairly new to this wonderful tipple as a whole, but I have decided that for the comparative similar pricing of around £25 - 30 a bottle, this one just tips the scale for me. A subtle smokiness on the lingering flavour. I prefer it with a little chilled plain mineral water when relaxing after a busy day and the 2nd glass is often the best!

You know this is an Islay whisky from the first moment you meet it yet it is so sweet and kind as to make you wonder... The peat smoke is present but never overwhelming and reminds one of a warm log fire. This is certainly a gentle but worthwhile introduction to Islay whisky that won't make you shy away from exploring the island's (more powerful) offerings further. -1 star for the obvious use of caramel and chill filtering, otherwise very nice dram!

Beautiful. This is a complex, rounded and satisfying whisky. Whilst at the same time it is not too complex but it has a satisfying amount and a intense smokiness. On the palate, the coastal smokiness, honey sweetness , peatiness and ash flavours that are so typical in Islay whiskies come shining through. The only drawback is some slight dryness in the aftertaste, but you get that with most scotch single malt whiskies I find.

One of my definite favourites. If you like smoky/peaty Islay-style whiskys, then this is something you have to try. It's smooth and very tasty. It complitment well my other favourites such as Laphroaig 10, Highland Park 12, Ardbeg 10 and Lagavulin 16.I'd definitely recomment it to any whisky lovers.Amazon is (as always) great and getting this lovely whisky on a lighning deal is always a pleasant bonus :)

A really really good tasting whisky - I am relatively new to whisky, and have had a few bottles (other brands) that have made me think that whisky maybe isn't really for me - However, I took a punt and bought the 12 year when it was on offer for £25, and am i glad i did. I cant tell you what is taste like because I don't actually know, all i know is, it tastes good, really good. Buy it.

A good tasting whisky that's milder than some of the other more heavily peated Islay whiskeys. This is better than the No 1 and worth the extra money if you enjoy taking time to sip and appreciate the taste. I'd say that the manufacturer's tasting notes are accurate but you might discover more flavours. With quality whisky I find I experience it differently at different times.
