First of all, I should say that I am believe a sweeper is useful. I have had 2 models before that and from the first time I used one, having first hoover the carpets, I knew this is a must. Before I start, let me tell you this is one of the tools you need to take care of, meaning you should sweep 20 times and clean once. The reason will become obvious when you use a manual sweeper once. The kind of dirt these manage to sweep is such that getting lot of it in the compartments will eventually come back to the floor as you sweep. My first Sweeper was the "BISSELL 2402E Sturdy Sweep". I had to move and left it behind, but it was THE most amazing tool in the house, and back then I had a cat. However, this model had an annoying rubber around the bottom that kept falling off now and then (eventually i removed it) and at times it would give back the dirt it had collected on the back movement. Last, hard floor was equally cleaned, but i believe these things prove they are good on carpets. It was a ggod buy and could not believe the service it delivered for the price (£12ish if i recall). After returning to a flat with carpets my first buy was a manual sweeper. This time was a Beldray LA024855. Before I share my experience, I will say I strongly believe that was a lemon, one out of a thousands maybe that had the issue it had, the brush start loosing strings from centre to edges. That rendered the sweeper useless within just a month. While it lasted it worked well, although was returning some "dirt on the reverse move but very rarely" and I liked the doors would lock open and allow easier cleaning than the previous Bissell that you need to hold the doors open and let the dirt go.So I look around and after considering electrics and even moving on to not have a manual sweeper, i decided i should stick to my belief in the particular tool idea. So I went for this Bissel the 92N0E.This model:There is only one bad point and lets get it out of the way: the two doors for the compartments will not stay open, you have to keep them open with you hands. The good:Construction: The most sturdy of all, and while in the picture you may think this is jsut a different presentation of the blue Bissell models this is not the case. Its a lot stronger and if you see the same price with 2402E (as i did) its an offer, this normally retails for £20+ and has a reason for it.Operation:This has a major difference from the others i used. It has two (2) brushes. One is the standard string you find to most models, the other is the concentrated boms you find on electric carpet cleaners. These two move on different directions and prevent any "dirt return" effect. On the corners it was curved small brushes and that allows you go against the wall and collect what is there as well (but be realistic, this is not a hoover). It is Silent. I knew from the previous models there was a certain noise coming when you sweep, but never bothered me, however I would not use it night in the flat. This one, is fine to use. The kind of noise I experienced with others was as if the cover of the sweeper acted like a bell for the rotating brush. The handle is at 119cm and its taller from the Beldray for who needs to know, quite a nice difference to me as i am on the tall side. The handle in this model is in the centre, but its very durable and when you leave it parked, there is a particularly strong clap position that will leave you confident it will not fall. The previous ones we not so reassuring, with Beldray being the worst as by design the handle only goes at one direction and when you park it you either hope it will balance or will leave it with the side that falls to the wall. 92N0E clamps and you will not worry. The area it covers, its size if you will, is bigger from the two previous i had. This is 25cm x 28cm.You can see the photo for some reference on the brushes, which compared to the previous ones are a bit bigger as well.I recommend this one for anyone with carpet who wants to see the floor clean in between hoover use.

Having already been through two of the cheaper Bissell carpet sweepers, I wanted one that would be a little more robust and last longer. The 1st thing that breaks on cheaper ones is the rubber around it comes off. Eventually the cog holding the brushes on broke. I have two springer spaniels, who's fur has cling on properties to my rugs. I mainly have wood flooring but a little bit of comfort from a rug is pleasing! The carpet sweeper has two collection sections. Front and back, but also has two brushes. One is more dense than the other. When I unpackaged it, it was amazed at the feel of quality. It picked up the dogs fur enough for me to not need to hoover every day.I do find its not so good at picking up to dirt of the wooden floors, but I sweep them anyway. Like all carpet sweepers, they need regular removal of the hair/ fur that congregates around the brushes. I use one of the dogs metal combes wirh a rubber band threaded through it, hold it over the bin and comb in one direction. Emptying this is not quite as easy as the cheaper smaller model, but after a bit of pratice I've worked it out. That little bit of extra hassle is worth it as it works so much better. Considering the price difference between the cheaper model and this one, for me, it's well worth the little bit extra.

I really had my doubts about buying one of these. 5 dogs and 1 bird plus various people in the house leaves a lot of mess and I honestly didn't think this little guy would make such a difference. I was sick and tired of hoovering everyday and developing OCD over the constant dog hair on the carpets and bird seed. Not to mention the epic waste if electricity.. Well.. I've had "thingy" for a week now and I have not hoovered once. This sweeper has made me strangely happy with its skills. It works better on carpets than on hard wood flooring however if you have a broom to do a quick run over the hard bits the just grab the thingy and go over your collected dirt. It scoops up husky hair! Honestly..And mine that I've been pulling out over the husky hair :) obviously it's not perfect. It feels rather cheap and plasticy and the handle needs assembly which makes it a bit wonky... I do wish it was more study. It makes getting weird angles a bit hard however.. For £12 I'm totally happy to put up with a few quirks. It also has two chambers to collect dirt so don't forget to empty after each run or you may find a few leaks springing up. Also it's not very big so fits nicely in a corner awaiting service :)

I can honestly say that it's very, very good. It does exactly what it's designed to do. It's one of my favourite housework tools and I wish I'd bought one years ago. I have been using my Bissell Natural Sweep for over a year and it's still as effective at picking up dog hair (I've got 3 dogs so it's a twice daily task), crumbs, lint, dust etc. The handle likes to try to unscrew itself part way up but I superglued mine together as I'll never need to dismantle it, and that solved the problem. It's lightweight, empties easily and does a better job on my lightweight rug than my vacuum cleaner does and I don't need to straddle it to stop it from being sucked up!It takes just a few minutes to go round my 3-bedroomed house compared to my vacuum cleaner, which I have to psyche myself up to get out more than once a week now as this carpet sweeper is very thorough so it's perfect for 6 days out of 7. You do need to do a proper vacuum once a week - to get all the fine dust up that settles into carpets and rugs. All in all, I love it and I bought one for a friend as a present and she loves hers too.

I'm not OCD really, not untill it comes to doing the vacuuming. The downstairs of my house is open plan and I have a plain carpet running through. Unfortunately it shows up every bit of fluff, dust, crumb, and cat hair, this is when my OCD sets in, I just have to vac! I really can't help myself, even if it's the slightest little bit, even if it is at 7 in the morning or getting on for midnight, up to 7 or 8 times a day, yes to the annoyance of my family. (not worried about the neighbours, I'm grateful for the 20 inch thick walls!!!!) so have to be reasonable now. To keep the peace I gave in and decided to buy this bissel carpet sweeper. So glad I did, it surprised me how good it really was,it picks up the visible stuff lovely and quickly to, really pleased, and its easy to empty, easy to store, it also reaches under the furniture that my vaccum doesn't. So now saving wear and tear on my vacuum, saving electric as only vacuuming once a day now and keeping the family happy. Win win.

Bought this to deal with new carpet shedding fluff and old dog moulting hair. Reasonably sturdy construction and decent length handle [6' user], but a much smaller waste-collector than I had expected. Quite efficient at picking up bits, but you have to empty it very frequently. Recommend having bin or sheet of newspaper in room for emptying. Use small levers to open collecting space one side then the other; then use knurled knobs to turn brushes around to get the trapped fluff/hair out. Easier than unclogging vacuum cleaner, but you still need to vac from time to time. Woollen carpet fluff and dog hair can be composted [you do have a compost bin/heap, don't you?]. Furthermore, you get a mini workout and it still works in a power-cut! Haven't tried it on kitchen lino - dog provides instant crumb-collecting service!

Great value for money. I have tried numerous carpet sweepers. I find them quick and easy to use, when you just want a quick clean of obvious dirt and crumbs etc. This is probably the best of the rest. The Bissell cleaner has 2 brushes and 2 openings to empty the cleaner. This cleaner glides over any surface and will pick up most dirt. The amount of dust etc that this cleaner manages to pick up is always a surprise. It is easy to assemble, just remember to screw the correct attachments together in the right order. I have only one issue and that is when emptying the sweeper. For best results both openings should be opened levelly as dust etc can slide one way or the other.I recommend this cleaner to anyone who doesn't want to get the vacuum cleaner out to quickly clean the floor.

Brilliant. With 4 kids and 2 Border Collies our hallway carpet has trodden in dog hair visible within a couple of hours of using the Hoover and it is a pain to unwind the cord, plug in the hoover and shove around a heavy vacuum every 2 hours. So, I wondered if an "old fashioned" carpet sweeper would help between vacuums. It definitely does! and brilliantly so.Even if the carpet looks clean, if you run this sweeper over it a few times and then check the contents, you can see that it's picked up hair you hadn't spotted.Quiet in use, eco friendly, no charging to worry about, no batteries to fail, no hoover belts to change, lightweight and easy to use and move, cheap to buy. What's not to like?Thoroughly recommended.

I bought this to replace my old one of the exact same style, I had had it for over 10 years so knew what to expect. It does have foibles like the difficulty emptying it without all the dust and bits going all over the place but it's a case of know your bin dimensions :-) My only criticism is the new handle is next to useless, I was please when I put the three sections together that it was longer than my old one and better for my height but it was just too weak to use so I attached my old one instead. Bissell need to read their product reviews as this is an issue a lot of people have had, go back to a strong metal two piece!

If you want to give your carpets or other floor surfaces a quick once over but dont want the hassle of a hoover here's an option. The whirling brushes are present and correct, whats missing is the suction. That said ours collects plenty of pet hairs and other detritus bought in by the dogs. Its a bit like an old push me, pull me lawnmower VS a FlyMo. Both do the job but one involves finding a socket, plugging it in and not mowing the cable. The other is ready to go as soon as you get it to the lawn.Sure its not as thorough as a hoover but its better for you, the exercise will do you good.

Had this thing for less than half an hour and I LOVE it. Can't believe how much it picked up after sweeping two rugs. Tried it briefly on a wooden floor and seems fine. Easy to put together, light, easy to clean and very easy to store.I felt very old buying this, (not seen one since the mid 80s) but having bought a cream rug, I needed something to give it a daily / twice daily going over and hauling the vac out that often was never going to happen. Quite surprised to see these things still on sale.

Small, light and surprisingly effective carpet sweeper. I bought it for my toddler and it is perfect for him due to having 3 part handle. By omitting one of parts you can create shorter handle, which is perfect for a child to use. Apart of this it does a great job on my thick carpets and it's very easy to empty. Seems a bit old fashioned choice, but if you have a big vacuum cleaner that you can't be bother to get out every day this is a perfect solution. Fits in a corner of the kitchen perfectly.

It's lightweight and easy to use so much so that my 2yr old goes round sweeping with it. I bought to replace a battery powered hoover we had in the kitchen that had broken. It's not the best on tiles tbh it works well enough on carpet and lino, we bought a Microfibre mop at the same time and tend to use this now in the kitchen and the sweep gets used on the carpets when we don't have time for the main hoover. Also the handles come apart after a week or two but easily fixed with superglue.

It should be made clear that this product is made in China. The handle has to be screwed together. The threads are far too fine which makes it unnecessarily difficult. A small dob of vaseline helped. It is light and worked well on carpet and hard floor. The dust trays need re-thinking. They do not detach so debris falls all over the place when emptying. That's not too much of a problem if the emptying can be done outside but if you live in a flat with no outside it's not a lot of fun.

Actually surprised at how well this works?Got it to "hoover" around my rabbit pen so I don't scare my bunnies with loud noise. The handle and the grey part of the sweep is all metal which I didn't expect. I am having some issue with the handle grip staying on though.Sweeps hair, dust, hay, small bits of foil and paper, even a few rabbit poops. I'm left wondering if this works this well and it's not electric, what exactly is my vacuum cleaner doing making all that noise.
