This is not a bad cleaning device for getting those crumbs and bits dropt by dog after eating his biscuits. Fed up of getting the Hoover out after his treats to remove crumbs I bought a small hand held ladybird brush shaped device but bending down to get crumbs up a killer on my back.Remembered these items from years back and thought maybe worth a try.Well it arrived and must say not as heavy as the ones from old at all, and not solidly built either. More plastic than metal but does the job. However if thinking of the older ones you might have remembered from a kid if of a certain age you might be a bit disappointed.The handle comes in three parts and easy to thread onto each part,

It's important to know that this isn't going to do the job of a vacuum cleaner. Think of this as a quicker easy dust-pan and brush and you'll be about right. The 'head' contains four larger rubber wheels (one in each corner) that rotate a full width brush quicker than you're pushing it. This in turn flicks items up into two fairly large pans, one front, one back. The brush when spinning like this will sweep up like a dust-pan and brush and very effective it is too. Despite a review saying you can't, you can use this in forward or backward motion (the design of the brush and pans allows for this)

I bought this for my elderly father who lives alone and likes to keep his house looking spruce. He has had very old carpet sweeper for a number of years but it finally broke and he was worried that he wouldn't be able to find a manual replacement in this day and age of complicated gadgetry.Because he has difficulty bending and moving around getting the hoover out and plugging it in etc is a struggle for him. This sweeper is small and light and that is the point. Because of its mobility and his lack of it the combination is perfect because he uses it on a daily basis. He has light coloured carpets and it upsets him not to be able to keep them looking clean, especially in the hallway when people arrive.

I am so thrilled with me Ewbank carpet sweeper, I just wish I had bought one years ago! It picks up so much dust and bits from the carpet, I run mine round every other day and it is so fast and fills up each time I'm amazed wear does all that come from I can't see anything on the floor and it doesn't look like it needs doing !I find it hard to use the vacuum cleaner much now so this is light little Ewbank is perfect.I remember my mother had a Ewbank carpet sweeper which is what made me go for this brand, she used it regularly too when I was a little girl and loved hers too.And a bonus I have noticed my breathing has improved since using it which is just '"well I can't express how wonderful it

Bought myself TWO. ONE for upstairs. ONE for downstairs.Two osteoarthritis hips. One knee problem caused by hips. One old war wound spine problem that might have started it all.Husband with PROSTATE CANCER - no hip op for me then! His need is greater. Not sure if youger age groups would agree. But at 83 and 79 that's my view. Cancer isn't King but can kill.OA is vile. Painful. Can't walk. Housebound. But it won't kill me. And there's no cure really for the 24/7 pain except surgery, which I doubt I'd survive anyway. I take the maximum number of two pain killers over 24 hours, with very little - if any - effect!!These Ewbanks are helpful. And yes I have an upright. A cylinder. A Gtech.

The item arrived promptly and was as expected.First use brought back memories from a very long time ago, but once the nostalgia had passed - how did it perform?In fact, surprisingly well. However, it does not (and is not intended to) compete with a vacuum cleaner. It picks up crumbs and specks pretty well, but can need several passes to get them all. A few things it refuses to pick up at all! My advice is - if you have run over it three times and it is still there - intervene manually (or decide that Life is too short to worry about it, and leave it!).By and large we are very pleased with the product, being easy and light to use,

I have a now 2 year old who is phobic of the noise our Dyson makes! Had to use something to clear those kiddy crumbs. This does the trick, food crumbs & pet fluff lifted in a couple of easy motions. Occasionally leaves some behind on textured rug (uneven surface) & a shame it doesn't work on the backwards pull, as it sometimes feels difficult to draw back, but, I wouldn't be without it. It's easy to empty quickly & you'll be amazed at the amount it picks up. Because it's so quiet I can even use it when little one is napping/sleeping & keeps the cleaning under a bit if better control in the house (shame there's not a quick way to dust!). I would buy it again at this price,

Ewbank have been around for decades and, to be honest, the basic design has not really changed that much. The colours and materials have changed since my first one in the early 1960s, but the modern ones still work wellThe sweeper is very lightweight and the main body is made from plastic. The handle is made of metal and is a good Length. The handle is made of three pieces which fit together easily.The brush roller has a stiff nylon brush on it which picks up well on shorter piled carpets.It empties easilyA cost effective way of getting crumbs and those annoying bits of fluff of of your carpets without the need of getting the vacuum cleaner out.

This lightweight product is just handy to use instead of getting the hoover out, ideal for those crumbs on the carpet, when you don't want to get out the hoover. Especially when you have to unravel the cable, plug the hoover in and make a noise, when someone is watching TV! It won't replace the hoover, but it will cut down the work the powered job has to do. So if you think about it could save you money on the electric bill!It's easy to empty, you take it the bin press the plate and the stuff falls out! The handle is detachable, it actually comes in sections. It's therefore easy to store away when not in use.I can think of no bad sides to it.

Oh so easy to use, very efficient and really simple to empty/clean. I use it to help clean up after my two messy budgies and it does pick up the millet seed and husks that the seem to chuck out of the cage, okay I accept this is asking a lot of it and it does not pick up every thing but is pretty darn good and I am well chuffed with it.A real time saver too as I can sweep away in a couple of minutes instead of getting my mains vacuum cleaner out. I have a battery vacuum cleaner for those places inaccessible to the Ewbank and the two work in harmony together.I thoroughly recommend this carpet sweeper

I purchased this on behalf of my mother who is in her eighties, to replace her old one which she has used for the last 40 years. As with most things nowadays, the build quality isn't a patch on the old one. However, it is MUCH lighter so she can carry it up and downstairs easily and it picks up light carpet debris brilliantly . It is very easy and quick to empty and great value for money. In this age of technology it is easy to overlook the old methods which have been around for decades. I am so impressed I am considering ordering one for myself.

The amount of dust picked up is amazing when you think it's just a circular brush being rolled across the floor with no suction. Light and easy and quiet to use. Much less hassle then getting the hoover out, plus you are not using any electricity! Seeing how much dust you've picked up in each room is addictive! The only slight drawback is I found it fiddly to empty; you have to really take it outside and empty it into the dustbin. I tried emptying it into my kitchen bin but the bin wasn't wide enough. Definitely worth buying though.

I bought a small Ewbank carpet Sweeper for £16.80 to save on the wear of my carpets by a vacuum cleaner.For a small lightweight carpet sweeper this has been a revelation. It is light, very efficient, extremely good at lifting crumbs and has not the drawback of trailing wires. It gets round the carpets so quickly and easily. I had forgotten how good these sweepers were and I am thoroughly delighted with my purchasa and I must add how speedily the delivery was. I am very pleased with my delivery from Amazon
