This was bought to spot clean rather than get the vacuum out for a few crumbs. However, this is so much quicker and lighter to use than the vacuum cleaner it gets used all round the house (except the stairs) and has reduced the need to vacuum so frequently.It does not quite clean to edges despite the corner brushes but still leaves the majority of carpet looking clean. We have found it works well on hard floors too.It does not really like soft or wet debris (eg chewed toast, cheese etc) but then neither does my vacuum..It comes with a little cleaning brush that fits on the handle and this is very effective in cleaning the rollers (it is worth doing regularly to help maintain pickup effectiveness

I’d like to start by saying Bissell seem to have addressed the issue with the handle falling apart when using the carpet sweeper as mentioned in previous posts. Each section of the handle connects using screw threads, once connected there is no way it will slip apart.Now, about the performance of the carpet sweeper. I bought this for my 79 year old mother to make her life easier. While it’s great to sit back and watch my mum lug the hover around, it got quite annoying not being able to hear the TV over the sound of the hover. This carpet sweeper solves all the problems. It’s very quiet to use and very light for my mum to push around. I tested the performance of the brushes picking up the dirt,

This device is brilliant - it gets up the fibres from my gym socks, flush from my mats etc. etc without me having to get out the hoover.Only drawback of design is the handle goes very narrow before fitting to the device, which in my mind could shred the thread. The other design flaw is when emptying it, if you rotate the bristles whil cleaning it scoops the fluff back onto the rollers - the emptying flaps dont stay open.BUT all this detracts from the point, im being picky, this device has taken the hassle out of cleaning my flat - the only worry i have now is i dont get the hoover out and do a proper job! at least it looks good for longer before needing a real vacuum of skirting boards,

A fantastically easy product to use. Very quite and effective. I use this every day to clear up my messy cats with their cat litter all over the floor and it is absolutely fantastic on either lino or carpet. It glides very easy and even does right up to the edge. The only fiddly part is when you empty it. You have to be careful not to end up with everything all over the floor again as the dustpans do tend to spring shut again. The comb provided is very easy to use and gets all the hair out of the brushes. The only negative part is the handle does tend to come apart easily if you have not pushed it together properly,

We bought this sweeper to replace a different manufacturer's unit which had finally gone to the big factory in the sky, after having given many years of faithful service. In the short time that we've had our new Bissell, it's been used daily, and we do not have any regrets about choosing it. We have two cats, and it is coping very well indeed with removing hairs from the carpets.The only adverse comment we have is that the handles occasionally seem to prefer reverting into their component sections, despite having been well "thumped" together. For me, that's only a minor problem to sort out on a permanent basis in due course, but it could be more difficult for some people to overcome.

Don't let the handle stop you from buying this sweeper. It's great and does the job of cleaning the floors extremely well. It would have scored 5 stars from me if it wasn't for the handle.The handle is in 3 or 4 sections that push together - if they were screw in that would have been fine. If you are happy to superglue the sections together as I did then you have yourself a super sweeper. If you aren't able to do this then perhaps this is not the purchase for you.I knew about the handle before I purchased this sweeper due to reading other reviews. Perhaps Bissell may take all these comments on board and update their product.

I think this little sweeper is brilliant. It does the job. It is perfect to do a quick clean whilst family members are asleep in the day due to shift work as it is nice and quiet. I have a long haired dog and this sweeper picks up the dog hairs no problem, you do have to go over the carpet a few times to get the desired result but I see that as no problem. You do have to bang the handle parts together quite hard to make them stick but once done no problems at all. Very easy to clean. Nice red colour with a plastic view part so you can see when sweeper needs to be emptied. All in all excellent value for money.

I bought this carpet sweeper as I was sick of getting my hoover out every time my black carpet needed a going over, which can be many times a day because of kids and dog. I'm that impressed with my sweeper that I use it more than the hoover now. I hoover twice a week and use this the rest of the time. It would amaze you what it picks up and its easy to clean out. If I need to buy a house warming present for anyway, this is going to be my purchase for them. Use it on carpet and wood surfaces - equally brilliant on both. Highly recommend this. Get brilliant exercise too using this!!

We have a dog who is scared of te vacuum and the house can get very messy very quickly. We've been through two vacuums now as they just don't seem to be able to keep up with us so I decided that I'd try an old fashioned sweeper for the day to day mess leaving me to only need to vacuum once a week. It's been perfect. It picks up everything big or small and with no electronic parts or filters to get clogged up means that you can empty it and carry on. A brilliant buy that I would really recommend. And as an added bonus it quiet enough that the dog hardly knows I'm using it!

I wasn't expecting the same performance as a vacum cleaner, but the effectiveness of this floor sweep did impress me.I have two long haired pets who shed their hair all year long!! The floor sweep picks up hair with ease on both carpeted and laminate floors. Doesn't get right into corners or skirting though, but not having to hoover everyday is reward enough!The comb on the side of the sweep is very good at removing the hair from the rollers and really easy to empty.This product will definitely pay for itself - would recommend to anyone.

This is a great product to use without hauling the hoover out. Picks up really well, including pet hairs and I was amazed at how effective it was at doing this. My only gripe is I wish the actually handle was longer, it's a little shorter than a sweeping brush so if you're bent over for a while really giving the floor a good go you can feel the ache when you bend up again. It's equally a great workout tool as well and a money saving product - saving those electricity bills. I'm sure it will pay for itself in the long run! :o)

My Grandma used the 60's version every day - it's an overlooked bit of green technology! Very effective, great to nip up and downstairs with as so light. Yes the handle is a design fault and the bits do come apart occasionally and have to be put back in. I recommend really taking the instructions seriously to give the assembled pieces of handle a REALLY HARD bash on the floor and make sure they are all stuck in well before you fix it to the base the first time. Otherwise a silver, sweepin dream...

Bought this to replace the silver version we have had for about ten yrs. We have a very big dog and this is used daily to save getting the hoover out all the time. It collects hairs no problem, its great that you can see the hairs collected in the little windows as well. I use this on carpet, lino and laminate and it collects from all floor types. The rubber rollers are better for cleaning compared the the brissel type rollers on the other version i had. This will be easier to clean/maintain

I have been very impressed with this purchase indeed. This carpet sweeper is the best one I have had. it picks ups crumbs and bits from the carpet as well as the kitchen floor. So much easier than getting the vacuum cleaner out all the time. Now I can run around with this and in a few minutes the carpets and floors look great. wish I had bought this one years ago. It does exactly what I wanted, so I highly recommend it. I had a voucher so I got £10 off so it was a total bargain! Thanks Argos.

This sweeper is easy to use and very effective. I've used it on carpet and a laminate hard floor and it picked up most bits with ease. Sometimes I needed to go over the area a few times. But with the Bissell being very lightweight it didn't feel like a chore. It's easy enough to empty and stands up in a small space when not in use. Overall I think this sweeper has kept my floors clean and tidy. A great sweeper at a great price. Well worth the money. Would highly recommend this Bissell sweeper
