This USB C to Lightning cable is of the high quality we've come to expect from Belkin. Arriving in their attractive green white and black signature packaging it carries the Made For iPhone and iPad logo that implies authorisation by Apple. On the back of the box Belkin make a big thing about the cable's support for fast charging on iPhone 8 or later, giving 50% within half an hour. Whether a cable can actually make such a difference I don't know, I would have thought it's more to do with the power supply it's plugged into but I'm not an expert.Helpfully this cable is 1.2 metres long, rather than the slightly more common 0.9 metres. This makes all the difference when I'm using my phone in bed while it's plugged in on the powerstrip resting on the floor.Rather sadly, while this cable comes in a cardboard box which it would be reasonable to assume is recyclable, it is held in place within the box by an 11 gram moulded piece of white PET plastic. There are also two plastic covered metal cable tidiers, but just like the white plastic tray, these three items are all most likely to be single use plastic that are discarded upon purchase.I would really like Belkin to show some thought leadership and package their products entirely in easy to recycled packaging, and to eradicate their reliance on single-use plastic which I am fairly certain the public does not want or need.

The Boost Charge USB-C to Lightning cable maintains Belkin’s usual cable quality standards and as usual they’re just about the only range to match (or better) the quality of Apple’s originals. Less fortunately they’re just about the only range to match the inflated price levels of Apple’s and this one is no exception. For your money you get a MFi-accredited cable that’s a decent 1.2m length and flexible enough to wind up into a small easily-carried coil. It’s an unusual combo of connectors but if you’ve got the requisite devices it’s really handy and lets you sync your iPad or iPhone with your MacBook while topping up the battery too. Of course you can sync wirelessly too but sometimes a cable is faster.More usefully it lets you share a single MacBook Air charger (with its USB-C port) with your iPad so you’ve got one less mains adaptor to carry with you on your travels. So far it’s worked flawlessly for me and has charged as fast as Apple’s own cables, something that’s not always the case. I suspect the difference in charge speeds is as much to do with the licensed gateway chip Apple specify for Lightning connectors, but who knows? It works and it’s good quality but it’s a shame we have to spend this much to get a good cable.

Given that Apple continue to insist on using a lightning connector for charging iPhones, there is always going to be a market for a range of different cables, so that the iPhones/iPads can be connected to a range of different devices. Given the significant advancements in USB technology and in particular, the creation of USB C type connectors, yet another new cable has had to be developed. The benefit of USB C is that the connector is reversible and is also much smaller and has very quickly become the standard connector type for connecting devices to laptops and desktops, as it enables much thinner devices to be manufactured. The cable is perfectly functional and works well but it is very expensive - £19.99 at the time of writing.Having said that, given the huge influx of fake and dangerous cables which are currently on the market (even on Amazon), I would prefer to pay a premium price and have a cable that I knew was safe and from a recognised brand, rather than risk a fire or electrocution.

While I disagree that any of these wires last as long as the braided ones I am pleased to see a company like Belkin who I have had great dealings with in the past now does lightning USB C cables. Not only does this allow me to charge my iPhone at my laptop and freeing up one of the standard USB slots but my work has placed USB charging points at every desk. So this is extremely handy for myself. I just prefer the USB C it's faster and like the lightning cable it doesn't matter which way in you plug it.If only Apple would move to USB-C for their devices, I am all for the standard USB slot to be updated even if it means replacing some of my stuff. My official apple cables have all died around where the connections go and looking closely at this one it seems in time it may break. I wont reduce any stars just yet but personally I do prefer braided cables which take a lot more play.

I own the Anker and Belkin usb c to lightning cables. Both are excellent. The Belkin is longer at 130cm rather than 95cm for the Anker. Both charge my iphone 8 plus quickly. Both work with a Crave or Anker USB wall charger with PD. The Anker cable comes with a velcro cable tie, the Belkin does not. The choice comes down to whether you want a longer USb c to lightning cable and want to pay slightly more . Or in my case the Belkin was taking a long time to come into stock. So I bought two Anker cables and now the Belkin has arrived. All are excellent. Both brands are a sturdy alternative to the Apple official cable. I cannot comment on the data speed. It is not something I have looked into or will ever.

I'm frankly amazed that Apple still chooses not to ship their iPhones with a USB-C cable, given that this is common practice for premium smartphones. This isn't to say that charging through USB-A is unliveable, but there's also no excuse not to.This new cable from Belkin is much more versatile. Not only does it allow for significantly faster charging, but you can plug it into a great range of devices and continue to chaise-chain from them. It's one of the greatest benefits of USB-C, and the sooner it becomes a standard the better. As usual, the cable lives up to Belkin's quality and is reasonably priced when the official cable is taken into account.

Belkin tend to produce some very high-quality gear (which I use for my iPhone). This cable works absolutely perfectly, and I'd expect no less from them. As long as you're using the USB3 port or a power booster charger, then you'll charge 50% of your phone in 30mins.It's a minor gripe but I'm disappointed that the sheath is rubber (thicker than the standard Apple sheaths that comes with their standard cabling). Other high-level cables from Belkin have comes in a lightweight metal, multi-flex sheaths that is far more durable and hard-wearing... and generally in the same price bracket.Despite by grumble, you won't go wrong with buying this.

I find the wire to be of the usual high quality you expect from Belkin. However, I can only get 35% charge in 30 mins for my iPhone 6S, using a ESR brand wall adapter (from Amazon).Using my MacBook Air’s USB-C connector I get 30% charge into my iPhone 6S in 30 mins, presumably due to the lower power on offer. It’s a little bit costly for one wire but it’s good quality you can trust, so I’d rather pay a bit more to safely use something decent than risk dodgy connections and fire hazards from cheap poorly made wires.I wonder whether faster phones can get a faster charge? So for that reason I won’t rate it too harshly.

Since Apple allowed 3rd parties to make and release MFI USB-C to lightning cables, there have been a few takers. Belkin is one of those and their version is rather nice.USB-C allows for the use of Power Delivery chargers that mean less time on charge. When activated, you get a double tone on plugging in. Your handset/tablet will then charge much quicker. At 4ft long, this cable is some 30% longer than a standard Apple cable, giving greater flexibility when plugged in. USB-C also allows you to charge via a Thunderbolt 3 port.A well thought out product that is worth a look.If you have a

Using USB-C to charge Apple products can be a great way to fast-charge with a suitable charger or device port. I paired it with a global travel adaptor that has a USB-C port and it's proven ideal for a rapid charge top-up. Perhaps not great for the battery lifespan but helpful if you're pressed for time. This cable - like pretty much all I've used from Belkin - is both well made and slightly more expensive than I think it should be! It's well made, has strain relief on the ports which should make it last longer and both USB-C and Lightning ends fit reassuringly well. Quality at a price.

Having been used to the charging speeds of the cable that comes bundled with my iPhones over the years I was blown away at how fast this manages to deliver power to my XS. I've got this hooked up to the USB-C port on my iMac, making it easily accessible and very useful for my iPhone, keyboard and mouse. It's just very quick.Slight downside is that it's not a braided or otherwise toughened construction - which may be an issue for those looking for a super-durable cable - but I have to say it looks suitably well-built and in my sedate desk environment it won't really be stress-tested.

Currently using this for my iPad and I’m impressed with the quality of it. Just about the right length for my needs and doesn’t seem to be kinking at the end like some have in the past over a period of time. This cable is black in colouring myself would prefer white and find it easier then to make sure I grab the right one for charging my device and not another family members charger for their devices. A bit higher priced than some makes but these do seem to last longer I’ve found and not bend at the end like some have done when using my iPad in bed and slightly having it at an angle.

USB-C is a huge improvement over the combination of USB-A, Ethernet, Thunderbolt and Power cables that Macs used to have, because you can run everything through them. But if you have old devices, like my iPhone 6S, and cables for your old Mac, then you're suddenly left either needing adapters for everything, or else new cables.Belkin to the rescue with a simple USB-C to Lightning connector. It's reasonably sturdy, but not like the braided cables you see a lot of now. It solves my problem, and, as a Belkin, it will probably last longer the devices it's connecting.

Let’s start with what’s the deal with most decent quality USB-C to lightning cables only being 3ft or 1m? I needed a bit extra length to work with my setup, so this being 4ft just works for me. I do wish the lightning connector was 90°, but I haven’t seen any USB-C to lightning cables I’d spend money on with this option. I use an Apple 2m USB-C to lightning cable at home, but I didn’t want an expensive/delicate cable in the car. This fits my needs nicely and hopefully it has a good service life.

25.4.2019

I have used and tested a variety of cables and Belkin can always be relied on to produce top quality cables. This USB-C to Lightning connector is no exception, being made to a high standard and performing to an equally high level. This cable allows you to charge and sync an Apple device from a USB-C port, which are now commonplace in most laptops and are becoming the new standard USB interface. It has the added benefit of allowing faster charging and data transfer than the old USB-A interface.
