The molding is a bit soft, and the recessed panel lines are wide and deep enough to hide a scale-sized squadron of Suliban, but once it gets layered up with paint using Aztec Dummy's masks, it shouldn't be too objectionable.There are clear parts for the engine nacelles, running lights, deflector dish, and impulse engines, so I anticipate a good result from the Brainstorm lighting kit I bought separately. If you want lighted portholes, prepare to do a lot of drilling.The decals include markings fro the Columbia and two ISS ships, but no aztec decals, hence, the masks, which I also bought separately.Don't try fitting the upper and lower shell halves together - the snap-fit pegs and holes fit

The plastic is thin and flimsy with a lot of slag bits in it. I had to do a few improvisons to get the model to fit together. I'd say 3.5/5. Quality lost it a star and the extra work I had to put in to make the kit fit together was the other 0.5.

The Polar Lights Star Trek NX-01 model kit is a great buy. Its very easy to assemble and easy to paint and add lights and sound. I did have a small problem with some water decals but was able to find some replacements online.

very small and parts do not fit together at all. had a lot of work to try and get pieces to match up. with all small parts need very small hands and fingerers to work with them.

It's a fun kit for beginners and up. I enjoyed prepping and building it. I chose the "refit" version to build and it came out pretty well. I would purchase this again for sure.

Absoloutely lovely model, so much variety on what you can do with it in terms of decal scheme and variations on the type of ship, couldent be better
