I managed to find this while scouring the bargain bins of a gamestation for about £7, and being the big Star-Trek fan that I am, made sure that I bought it.The game plays out like a strategy game: You have a map where you can see (or not, if fog of war is on) all the planets of the galaxy. You can have up to 3 fleets at a time and you must go around conquering planets, fighting native races (e.g. ferengi) and other factions (there are 5 overall) in a bid to take over the galaxy. There are various strategic points of interest (Deep Space 9, etc) that are worth taking.When running into an enemy fleet, you can choose to either see the battle played out determined by the computer (based on the number of ships /commander's rank, etc) or go and fight the battle yourself. While most of the time I simply had the computer do it for me, if you chose to do it yourself, you'd engage in an aerial dogfight on a (basically) 2D map (3D graphics, 2D moving) which could be very interesting at times.Conquest mode, although pretty short and repetative once you've done it once or twice, was nonetheless very fun to play. Once you complete this you can also unlock other races to play in the battle mode (including some of my favourites) which was fairly interesting too.This isn't a genre-changing game, but it's very solid and fun to play for quite a while. Like the title of the review said, if you can find it cheap, and especially if you're a star trek fan, it can be a lot of fun to play.

The game itself, is a pretty good game, surprisingly. There is no storyline to speak of, which i found disappointing, but i'll go more into that in the bad pointsGood Points- It's fun: The game is fun to play, you find destroying the Klingon Empire, the Confederacy and others rather enjoyable.- You need to use your brain: It requires logic and using your brain to win on this. If you don't have that, you'll struggle.- Six different races: I find this an important thing, the fact there are six different races you can choose from with difference advantages and disadvantages. Can't hurt to have choices, can it?- Decent Graphics/layout: The Graphics is nothing special, but it's decent enough,and the ships look like the ships, etc. The display is laid out well and the controls are easy enoughBad Points- Lack of Storyline: For this time of game, it works not having a Storyline, but I personally don't like that- Ship movement: Ship movement is awkward at best. I am aware that it is meant to be like real space, and it is supposed to control like that, but it doesn't take away from the fact that the ship you control always seems to be sluggish and the others don't.

Ok, so its Star Trek. Ok, so that means that there are some characters, races, storylines etc that will get fans of the genre going, and thats good.The main thing I want to put across is that its just as much a strategy space fighting game that happens to be called Star Trek.Its probably fair to say its 70% arcade space battles and 30% strategy simulation, mainly because any lack of ability in the strategy side is easily outweighed by your ability to create havoc for your enemies in the arcade sim section.A game doesnt take days to complete either, as an example you can select how many races you battle at a time, with the easy mode selected but all the races (i.e. hardest sub level within the easy mode)you can complete it in a few hours. The good thing is that keeps you going as you can then start a new game as a different race.The pointer on the Wii remote is the only aspect you get to use rather than any of the tilt abilities, but this is plenty enough and is a cracking improvement on directing shots with a normal controller.

Having been brought up with Star Trek and new to the Wii I could see the potential for this game especially with the type of game control the Wii has but a lot of the reviews seems to make it mediocre. Nothing of the sort as it is totally addictive if a little simple. You have two levels of action as you can sit back and allow rt3 computer to work out the outcome of battles but still have the ability to retreat if you want. But you can also fly a Star ship in battle and directly act in the battle to win or loose.It is simple but interesting and my two grandson have now been corrupted into the Star Trek world as they love it was well.Not for your action gamer but good for an armchair captainlike me.

Great game=========I played this game as Dominion against the Federation to see how the game treats the Dominion and the Dominion won but this was fictional; I am not against any Star Trek race - I love them all - Borg included! I even love the Breen, Kling-ons, Romulans and especially the Cardassians - they ALL can come to my virtual Star Trek party! I even love the Ferengi!

This was a gift for my husband, he had this game before on the ps but it broke so i was very pleased i cud buy it him again. He has played it everyday since recieving it and i do also enjoy watching him play the game. A great buy.

This is actually quite a good game.For those people who might not know it, there is a save game option available on the Infrastructure screen, bottom left.
