With much anticipation, I opened my new copy of Wii Sports Resort. I ran through all of the games and I am satisfied overall. If you enjoyed Wii Sports and find yourself popping it in your Wii every now and then, you will certainly like Sports Resort. These games are great when you have a few people around and you just want to pass the Wiimote around and give everyone a chance to have fun. The game lengths are kept short so you can play several games of each type. The Wiimotion add on does improve the accuracy of the Wiimote but you will have to experiment a little to notice it. Once you do, you will like it. I noticed quite a bit of diffence in the new bowling game.I twisted my wrist slightly to simulate a spin and this translated fantastically using the Wiimotion remote add on. Another great use of the Wiimotion add on is in the Jet Ski game. If you hold the wiimote like it's a handlebar on a motorcycle, it allows you to throttle the jet ski just as you would a motorcycle by twisting the right handle. That worked great. Other stand out games include frisbee throwing which was quite accurate with wiimotion, 3-point basketball, and canoeing. I didn't see how the canoeing event used the wiimotion but it was a good game nonetheless. The basketball free throwing for points is like being at an amusement park where you go from station to station and each station has 5 balls you shoot within a certain time limit. This was a great crowd pleaser.Like a previous review mentioned. I do wish there were more variety in the games. Not more games, but just more courses and more events withing each game but don't let that stop you from picking up a copy. I predict a lot of wiimotion games will soon be out and Wii Sports is a great start.Update!!! 8/3/09...Ok, I've had Wii Sports Resort for over a week now and wanted to give some more insight into a few games since I have played them for awhile. I'm listing pros and cons but I still stand on my initial review that Wii Sports Resort is a great addition to my library of games.SWORDFIGHTING: I like this game but for newbees on the wii, it appears that it is difficult to understand that this game isn't all about slashing your opponent as fast as you can. Blocking plays a key role and if you don't get that then the game isn't nearly as interesting. Just imaging boxing where you just keep swinging the remote with no finesse just blow after blow. Not really fun but good exercise. The blocking in swordfighting, if done right by both participants, eliminates the frenzied movement of the wiimote to slash your opponent and makes the game a little more strategic. It's difficult to train a newbee not to just want to attack attack attack and they end up losing and don't even know why.WATERSPORTS: The jetski games is good and takes practice to ride your jetski through the rings. However, the water ski game just didn't stay on the screen long as it is only fun for a short time. The type of tricks you can do on the water ski are limited and repetitive. With better courses this may have been a stand out game such as dodging obstacles or jumping over ramps.BASKETBALL: Both the free throw and 3-on-3 pickup games are good. This will be played alot the 3-on-3 games has blocking capabilities that generates a lot of laughs. One improvement here would be that if a ball is blocked that the blocker shouldn't automatically get the ball but it should be a free for all and given to the first player who can get to it.ARCHERY: I love the potential of this game the most but feel it also needs a lot of improvements that could have made this THE standout game. First, the controls are a bit awkward. The wiimote simulates the bow and the nunchuck simulates the string. Not sure why but quite often once you have the string pulled all of the way back and try to aim the bow at your target, the wiimote is pointing in some obscure way like way to the left or almost pointed to the floor when you are directly aimed at the target. With practice this can be controlled but it seems like this could have been improved. Re-calibrating the wiimote did not help. I believe the game picks up the target when you pull the string back with the nunchuck regardless of where your wiimote is and then when you move your wiimote around to aim at the target it is usually not facing the tv. I also believe this game needs a little more variety. It's fun shooting at the targets from further distances but it needs more. How about baloons on the target that have to be popped in order to score points. The targets move in later stages but almost so slow that it isn't any more challenging than if they are still targets.FRISBEE: Both the toss game where you pop baloons and land on a target and the frisbee golf are good. I found that after playing frisbee golf this is one of the standout games if not THE standout game of the bunch. You play on regular golf courses and there are situations where trees are in the way and you can toss the frisbee in a forced curve to go around the trees. This is much easier and translates better then trying to do this using a golf club. Just tilt the frisbee like would do on a real one and toss away. It's really something to see the frisbee curve (and I mean curve) around a group of trees and move up the course to make par.BICYCLING: Very good game. More fun than I thought and quite challenging. This is one game that is just plain fun to cycle around the Island on a rather long course. It gives everone a fair chance to win even if they get behind. I lost to a complete newbee even after being in first place because my character got exhausted towards the end and when he stopped (as it will do automatically) I was passed by several bikes to lose the race. The drafting behind other bicyclists to conserve energy works well. This is a great party game.TABLE TENNIS: I love playing table tennis (ping-pong) on a real table and must say that the game translates well on the wii sports resort. The games are short but always exciting. I love that you can actually put top spin on the ball by flicking the wiimote just as you hit the ball and it translates well on the game as the ball goes to your oppononent with an actually spin that is more difficult to return. The only thing I couldn't get the ball to do was to lob in the air. Not sure why but I'll keep at it. It seems that lobbing the ball so it arcs up in the air just translates as a regular hit and the ball goes just above the net. Placing the ball where you want it to doesn't work so well either. It works but could you a little polishing.CANOEING: This is where the games get weak. I don't see this one played much because it's too difficult to control. You will constantly run into the side barriers because the controls don't track well on this game. Often times when you paddle on the left, the character on screen paddles to the right and wham! you're into the side barrier. Not much fun unless the courses were more open and more varied. The instructions say to paddle wide to get more power in your paddle but that didn't seem to make much of a difference.AIRPLANE: This is the most disappointing. This game had the greatest potential for being fun but unfortunately it comes up short. The biggest problem is that you spend most of your time trying to find the other player in the dog-fight episode and without a radar you cannot find them that easily and spend most of your time just flying around. The controls on the game respond well and it is fun to fly around the island. Better than other flight games I've owned on other platforms but without much to do it gets old real fast. I'm really disappointed in the airplane because of it's lost potential. Maybe they'll come out with a game that has both players flying through an obstacle course to see can control the plane the best. The dog-fighting just didn't cut it without a radar and even with it, it needs help.

This is just more of a quick going over review then a full review and also only played as a single player and not multi which is where this game would shine. You start by skydiving down from an airplane getting you used to the wiimote and motion plus. Controls are easy, you hold the mote out and move it down to travel faster straight to glide etc etc, everything is easy to pick up and has instructions which you can skip, apart from the first 3 minute video you have to watch to show you how to connect and disconnect the motion plus. The menu system is easy to follow like the first, you click on what you want to do then it opens up the options for the game you clicked on.As you progress through the game there are stamps to collect, some you will just get by playing through everything and the other will take a little more work. I will briefly go through all of the games available, all which are open from the start but you have to play through some to open up more locations, courses or levels.Swordplay - You use the wiimote only on this one, I have opened up three different games, first is you vs. a computer (or friend if you are playing multi), three rounds and it's whoever knocks the opponent off the middle cycle into the water below. Best of three, and if both of you are standing once the time runs down then it's a draw no matter how many times you hit your opponent. You hold the wiimote with both hands, use B to block and move the mote in every direction you can think of to attack. It's quite fun but I can see it getting boring fast. The second section puts you against an opponent and chucks items at you with an arrow directing you which way to slice it. This section is all about direction and speed and its first person who slices their objects correct and fastest who gets the point. The third section is the best, this puts you against loads of opponents and it's up to you to fight your way through it to the boss without losing 3 lives. Duel is 1-2 players, Speed Slice is 1-2 players but Showdown is only 1 player.Wakeboarding - You hold the wiimote straight in front of you like one bar, you are tied to a boat and move left and right to glide along the water. You use the ripples and waves created by the boat to jump and do tricks while in the air and it's up to you to land straight to get the points. More impressive the trick the higher the score. Up to 4 players for this sport.Frisbee so far is my favourite, using the wiimote you chuck your Frisbee as you would a real one and try and land it on the marker shown where your cute dog will catch it. Closer to the marker the bigger the score and the last 4 throws will also have a balloon you can pop for extra points. The motion plus works well here and you can see how the Frisbee tilts at the slightest throw and curve. The second game is Golf with a Frisbee, this is ok and made easier at the end as you only have to get the Frisbee through the area at the end and not land there. The Frisbee will throw like you would so if you have a curve when you throw this could prove hard for you. 1-4 players on both games.Archery - One of the few games which uses the nuchuck. You use the wiimote and nunchuck to aim your bow and shoot arrows at a board. The wiimote acts as the bow itself and you use the nunchuck as the wire. You aim then hold down A then Z once you think you have the correct position you let go of A and an arrow will shoot out. Points range from 10 down to 1 depending on where you hit. The distance and wind will affect your shots. Up to 4 players on this sport.Basketball - The 1 player mode was better than 3 on 3 imo. Controls are really easy to use, just use the wiimote in your throwing arm holding down B then as you would throw a ball let go of B and aim when you think it's right. Only thing they can't imitate is the weight of the ball. 3 on 3 lets you pass the ball with A or the Dpad then you throw when you think its right. Dribbling requires you to bounce the wiimote up and down to simulate a dribble and if you get close enough you can go for a dunk. The 3 point Contest is up to 4 players but 3 on 3 is 1-2.Bowling - feels the same but it's easier to spin the ball with the use of the motion plus. The second game lets you have a go at striking down 100 pins and the third option adds barriers in the way of your pins, some of them moving. Like before up to 4 players can participate.Table Tennis - feels like tennis did but again your movements are more accurate. You have a match option or a Return Challenge which lets you hit back balls served to you until you miss or hit one off the table. Items will be places for you to hit to gain more points. Match games have 1-2 players but up to 4 for Return ChallengeGolf - Again this is much like the first, all original courses are back and 3 new ones. You can tell the difference having the motion plus but the game is more or less the same. Like before you can have up to 4 players.Power Cruising - another game which uses both wiimote and nunchuck, using both like handles to a bike. I would have liked to use the wiimote as a throttle to go faster instead you just hold down A or B which can be tricky and use the mote itself for turning and a sharp twist will give you a burst. You have the options of a Slalom Course or VS mode which would be better with two human players.Canoeing - Using the mote alone move it from side to side of your body like you would, great fun to do and the course has bends which lets you understand how your movements can affect your direction. Both Speed Challenge and vs. are 1-4 players.Cycling - Using both mote and nunchuck you move them up and down to speed up, and side to side to steer, Fun for about 3 minutes then gets old. You tire very fast and have to then stop peddling to gain your breath. You will start last and have to work your way around everyone. It reminds me of jogging on the wii fit but less fun. Both Road Race and vs. are 1-2 playerAir Sports - the last game you can play consists of Skydiving like at the start of the game which is only a one player game to catch as many of your wii's during your fall. Island Flyover which lets you fly over the island collecting as many Info points as possible, this was a good play through and you can choose the time of day. Dogfight lets you try and pop your opponent's balloons and whoever has the most left at the end wins, up to 2 players can play this but I felt that shooting each other would have been more fun.

Had it since christmas, bundled with my black wii. Here's a review of it. And MP.Overall:Great game. It is very sensitive thanks to motion plus but those who have 4 remotes will have to go to a fortune. But it still makes a big difference. Some The games are good remakes of Wii sports, others a bit sticky or gimmicky, or maybe thats how much i like wii fit and wii sports.Table tennisBy far my favourite game. Always listed on the screen as 'most popular'. You can even tilt the racket to make the ball go in awkward directions (and out at the same time). You do have to train yourself not to wack the wii remote everywhere like WS tennis. The remote is sensitive and a flick of the wrist is enough for a good shot.Replays, as usual, are LOL when you see you fall over/look for the ball. The wii remote tracks even slow movements through air, something that WS stuggled with in some parts.20/10Archery:Makes great use of motionplus and the nunchuck. However it's easy to release A instead of Z.But don't fret. There are 3 different levels with many stages, and it does requite lots of practise. I'm sure you'll never get bored of this one. The wii remote is accurate to a hair of movement, but just like 3D technology, its because it made good use of it. Very fun and challenging.20/10Frizbee.Annoying at first, but takes getting used to. I still find it a bit nigh on impossible in some parts, but its just like table tennis, a flick of the wrist. For making it go up/down, twist your wrist as usual. This one takes practise!!! Once you get experience with Frisbee dog, try the frizbee golf,,, its all in the name!!!7/10Bowling:Disappointing copy of WS bowling, but worse. The ball ALWAYS curves to the right all the time. Making it impossible to get proper spares/strikes. To overcome this (right handed) you have to move to the left extremely, then it will pointlessly curve into the middle ball, and a chance of strike. The 100 pin mode is much better and hides the pointless curving a bit more, throw it slowly and you get a satisfying domino style. Throw it fast, and get like 99 pins down, or all, with a pinch of domino. You can even use the left-right buttons and throw the ball towards the skirting boards in 100 pin, as there's no 'gutter'.Overall, if you want a DECENT, realistic 10 pin game, get your wii sports disc out.10 pin: 4/10100 pin mode: 7/10Canoeing:This one is always listed on the screen as 'Recommended' after getting frustrated with the problem:The paddle is always on the wrong side, all the time. Even putting the remote on the table thingy still doesnt help. Sometimes i can get it on the right side, but it doesn't go through the water well. Someone help me!1/10 Doesnt work.Cycling:This one does take some good wrist action and uses the wiimote and nunchuck as the pedal and handlebar. Bit weird, but very fun. The graphics are good too. When you slow down, and get lazy, like wii fit, he encourages you to work those arm muscles ;)8/10: Clever idea.Power cruising:This one aches your arms after a while!Very good, and nice touch of turning your wrist for that power boost. IMO, there was no need for the nunchuck in this game, it doesnt do anything. You have to go through the slaloms, and AQAP! Using the turbo boost.7/10Wakeboarding:Not bad, you have to jump over the waves. And tilt the wii remote to land flat. You can make tricks in mid air, and cant stop giggling to yourself at the commentator every time you make a perfect jump.7/10Swordplay:Makes ever so good use of MP. Duel mode is good. It's funny when you/or the opponent fall into the water. Some may say you just whack the remote randomly, but if they guard, you can trip, so you guard too!!! by pressing B.Speed slice, another mode, makes even better use where you have to slice objects thrown at you quickly and accurately (follow the arrows)7/10Golf:Same as WS, but with an extra button to press! Why?The extra sensitivity is noticed on putting. Massive improvement over WS, which was a bit sticky and unresponsive for golf.7/10Basketball:Cool game, you have to pick the ball and flick it, into the basket. This one is rather reastic. It is challenging as you are timed. Some says it's all down to luck for that one, just flick it randomly. But i do have a trick.7/10Air sports:Not very sporty, but fun and relaxing in some way :D. But again shows off the MP.Skydiving: Join up with lots of people in the sky. I don't know how to go forward!!! The most i can do is 3. Well at least you can do it on the sofa:devil:Flyover: Fly the plane through i points. I find it quite tricky to get the low ones eg tennis court. It's impossible to suddenly go straight again. Might need some practise.Overall:My BIGGEST gripe out of all is lack of tennis. Nintendo obviously want to make more money out of the EA grand slam tennis game, which I havent seen many reviews on. So if you want tennis, spend an extra £23 :(If WSR had tennis, it would have been a great spin off, just like the golf and er bowling... no. Just golf.J.J.

There are 12 different sports games to enjoy on Wii Sports Resort. The first one is Swordplay and you hold the Wii Remote in both hands as though it were a sword, with the buttons facing you. When attacking with your sword the wider you swing your Wii Remote movements, the more powerful your blow will be and if you are lucky you might hit your opponent off the edge into the water which is great fun. For defending hold your Wii Remote at a angle whilst holding the B Button to block your opponent's attack and knock them off balance.Wakeboarding is good fun as you try to score as many points as possible by performing acrobatic jumps on the water. For Wakeboarding you hold the Wii Remote with both hands as if you were gripping the handle of a tow rope. You tilt the Wii Remote left and right which tilts your board for the steering and flick the Wii Remote for jumping over the boats wake.Next we have Frisbee in which you can play with a dog or play Frisbee Golf which is a bit odd. For throwing the Frisbee you need to hold the Wii Remote at chest height whilst holding the B Button and swing it in an arc at the direction of your target, then release B to let the Frisbee fly.One of my favourites sports is Archery but it is a bit tricky to master. With Archery you use your Wii Remote and Nunchuk. To shoot an arrow you hold your Wii Remote upright whilst hold the A Button. Then on your Nunchuk hold the Z or C Button and draw your Nunchuk backwards whilst taking aim and release your Nunchuk button to shoot your arrow.I'm not so keen on the Basketball game but it is still fun especially in multiplayer. To pick up and shoot the Basketball you tilt the Wii Remote inwards and press the B Button to pick up the ball then, swing your Wii Remote over your head and give it a flick to throw your ball. The Table Tennis game works ten time better then what it did in Wii Play and is great fun. With the Golf and the Bowling you have more control with your aiming but the improvement isn't as great because they worked good on Wii Sports. The Power Cruising reminds me of a great game I had on the N64 called Waverace which was ace. You hold your Wii Remote and Nunchuk as if you were holding the handle bars of a bike. For me this is the best sports game in Sports Resort and Nintendo really do need to give us an update of Waverace please.Canoeing is fun as you hold your Wii Remote with both hands and do paddling movements from left to right as you pass through checkpoints trying to beat other players.Cycling will make your arms ache a bit. You start at last place and you must try to overtake everybody to finish the race first. Using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk you move them up and down alternately which is ok but for me it's one of the weaker sports to play on offer here.I love Air Sports because the Skydiving and the flying of the plane remind me of the most excellent games I have for the SNES and N64 which is Pilotwings. For flying you hold your Wii Remote in your hand like you would a paper aeroplane. When do the Skydiving the Wii Remote represents your Mii's body!So there you have it Wii Sports Resort really shows you what Wii Motion Plus can do and is wonderful at the same time. If you have Wii you need this game in your collection because for me it's the most fun I have had with my friends and family since Mario Kart Wii!

I've been lucky enough to obtain Wii Sports Resort a week in advance, so have had a few days to try it out. Here's my first ever review! One sentence summary (if you're short on time): Resort gives you back 80-90% of that feeling you got when you first played Wii Sports. If you loved Wii Sports, you'll love this.As ever, two player action is far more fun, so you'll need a second motion plus unit. This does make the package over £50 in these tight economic times, so maybe birthday money should be used! The TechnologyHaving tried the Motion Plus unit with Grand Slam Tennis, I was slightly disappointed that it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. However, I'm now putting that down my inability to play tennis, rather than any failing in the device. For me, the Motion Plus is very good. Good enough that you quickly forget the technology behind it, and take the accuracy for granted. The GameplaySo far my children (age 6 & 10) and I have tried:Swordplay (great!) - The first on the menu, and an obvious one to gain appreciation of the motion plus enhancement. Initially there is a temptation to assume thrashing the Wii remote about is a winning strategy, but the use of blocks by your opponent disorientates your character which can then be counter attacked.Archery (excellent) - One you get the hang of the controls, they become intuitive, and the satisfaction of hearing the Arrow fly and 'thud' into the target is great.Frisbee (very good) - For realism, I'd say that my kids actual ability to throw a frisbee properly is reflected in the game version - fairly poor!Canoeing (fair)The Aeroplane one (fun)Bowling is pretty much a clone of the original, though the spin applied to the ball is more accurate. The Golf is similar enough to the original to be familiar, but has more courses (6 I think), and 18 holes per course. Golf was always my favourite on Wii Sports.Other DetailsAs ever, the attention to detail from Nintendo gives the game lots of endearing touches - At the main screen details of who has played the game recently appear, with their respective Mii's sitting or standing together tapping their feet to the music.'Stamps' are the equivalent of trophies on the PS3, although they are really just for your own satisfaction. There is a full soundtrack in the style of the original game.GripesIf only you could play on-line....SummaryOnce again, the selection of games might not have 30 hours of new content each, but most are more than just technology demonstrations. Resort, like the original has games that you can pick up and play when you have 15 minutes, and just want to have fun rather than intense action. Having said that 2 hours went far too quickly...I think Golf, Archery, and possibly Frisbee and Swordplay will have us coming back for months to come.Right now, my 6 year old wants to Swordfight again, and claims he is going to 'Take me down to Chinatown...'Enjoy!

I had my Sports Resort on Pre-Order and received it today! Like many people, I loved Wii Sports and it was the first game I tried on the Wii. I wasn't sure how this one would fair in comparison...Firstly regarding the motion plus accessory; I must admit that on first impressions I didn't think it was THAT great - I couldn't really see the difference in the game and it just made the remote heavier!:( However, when you are playing precision games (like sports - for example golf or bowling in this game), you definitely do notice the difference. In golf for example, the motion plus will detect the tiniest bit of movement when you are moving your golf club - this makes game play all the more realistic which in turn makes it more fun.The set also comes with a new longer remote jacket (I was actually thinking I was going to have to buy one separately!)Anyway secondly, the game itself is a lot of fun. There are 12 different sports to try out. Three of the 12 sports require the use of the nun chuck which I think is a great improvement - in the first Wii Sports, you only got to use the nunchuck for boxing! Also, this time round you get to use the Wii remote in a lot more ways so you're not just swinging your arm all the time. My favourite games so far have to be Canoeing (it's tricky but v.fun paddling around in the water doing races), Frisbee (looks so simple but takes skill to throw accurately) and Air Sports (you ski-dive out of a plane and try to catch other Mii's to get photographed with them!).You start out with one type of game per sport but as you progress, new games are unlocked so you can try out different games within the sport and different levels of difficulty. I've only been playing this for a day so no doubt there is lots more to uncover! There are very few downsides - I was a bit disappointed with the Golf and Bowling as they are pretty much the same as the Wii Sports version. The bowling does however feel different in terms of throwing the ball - it's been harder for me to get strikes so maybe this is the motion plus in action!! I also don't much enjoy table tennis but this is probably just a preference thing!SUMMARYOverall, this pack is pretty good value especially if you definitely want to get the motion plus anyway (it costs about £15-£25 to buy it on its own) - I didn't feel like it made too much difference but I am yet to try it out with other games. The Sports Resort game is a lot of fun - really well-designed for the Wii. You're in a sunny sports resort and as a result the games are all bright and fun with lots of sunny music to reinforce the beach atmosphere. The game is also a great one if you want to use the multiplayer option - I think adults and kids will both enjoy it and of course it's a lot of fun competing against each other! You will no doubt have hours of fun with Sports Resort if you enjoyed the original game!

Wii Sports Resort is essentially 'Wii Sports Version 2.0' and the chances are that if you enjoyed the original then you'll find much to like with this new version. If you didn't care for the old WS then I doubt there will be much in WS Resort to change your opinion. There are differences of course; the most obvious being the inclusion of the Wii Motion Plus unit. This little addition to the Wii Controller is intended to improve the sensitivity and responsiveness of the console interface and boost the playing experience and it really does work. On games such as Golf, Table Tennis and Ten Pin Bowling you can really feel the difference. Golf and Bowling, which are essentially expanded versions of the old WS versions, are especially improved and also made more challenging by the additional control offered by the MotionPlus. It takes a bit of getting used to but is a very worthwhile piece of additional hardware. My only complaint is that there is only one included with WS Resort. I would strongly recommend buying a second (or more) if you're planning two or more player gaming. The other key difference is that WS Resort is a far bigger game than the orginal WS. In addition to Golf, Table Tennis and Bowling there is Archery, Fencing, Canoeing, Jet Skiing, Cycling, Flying, Frisbee and others. As with the original WS some individual games work better than others. I particularly enjoy the Archery but struggle to see the point of the flying game, but I guess individual opinions will differ.Preferences will partly depend on whether you like energetic, physical games or enjoy something a little less adrenalin charged. Fencing, cycling and canoeing for example, require quite a lot of physical actvity (rather like boxing in original WS) whereas Archery & Golf are more relaxing. Some games are better played in groups too, whilst others lend themselves better to solo play.Graphics-wise WS Resort is a slight step up from original WS and more on a par with Wii Fit, but does not break the mould in terms of how it looks. The music and sound effects are along the same lines as those in the original WS.Overall WS Resort is yet another entertaining if lightweight offering from Nintendo that provides a decent showcase for the MotionPlus and offers hours of diverting entertainment that you can dip in and out of when you feel like it. If it doesn't quite have the same impact as the original WS that's probably because the novelty of the Wii Controller interface has worn off and WS Resort doesn't offer anything truly novel that rewrites the gaming rulebook.

As a big fan of Wii Sports I was looking forward to playing Wii Sports Resort as it was marketed as not so much a sequel - but an upgrade because of the Motion Plus add-on.The Motion Plus is impressive and I personally think that the movements are now very accurate whereas before they were just approximate (but still pretty good). This makes games such as Archery and Sword Fighting possible and instead of feeling a bit hit-and-miss (pardon the pun) you feel in full control of what is happening on screen.I'm not a big fan of all the games though, I found some such as Power Cruising to be very difficult to control, but in time I'm sure I'll get the knack of it.But with so many games and their unlockable variations there's bound to be something for everyone on there. Because the movements are more accurately reflected on screen the games require a bit more skill and practice - and that's fair enough but the truth is that a lot of people who have the Wii console are not big gamers. A lot of folk drag out the Wii every couple of weeks for a quick play and the console is fantastic for that because many games can be simply picked up and played. For those people (and I'm one of them) this may not be the best purchase for the Wii as some of the games need regular play and practise in order for you to become proficient at them. Wii Bowling is a good example - on 'classic' Wii Sports I'm not great at it but I get by and manage respectable scores, but with Wii Sports Resort Bowling I really need to stick at it and play more regularly to develop the skill level to be any good at it!But as this is a family orientated Nintendo product, it doesn't take itself too seriously and if you do end up having abysmal sessions on some of the games you don't mind too much - it's all very bright and it feels light hearted. The games really do get you involved, and both the cycling and canoeing games get you burning off energy, I enjoyed the physical aspects of those and was genuinely out of breath after playing them!In a nutshell: More serious gamers will no doubt quickly advance though these games and give some impressive performances, whereas casual gamers will love most of the games but perhaps get frustrated by some as they don't have the time to invest in perfecting their technique and may prefer the original Wii Sports. Either way though, Wii Sports Resort offers a good bunch of mini-games which can be enjoyed on your own - but are far more fun when you have someone to play against.

There are 12 games in this package (many of which have sub games). They are:AIR SPORTS- sky diving - link up with as many of the other skydivers and have your picture taken for extra points, or you can just skydive down and look at the island- island flyover - pilot your own plane round the island and collect the 80 "i" tokens and unlock extras- dog fight - the one problem with this game is that one person cannot play against an AI opponent, two people have to play - it is a shame as the game is great funARCHERY - hit the targets as close to the bull as you can - can you spot and hit the hidden targetsBASKET BALL- 3 point game - play alone or against friends - score as many baskets as you can-pickup game - play a game of 3 on 3 basket ballBOWLING - use the "motion plus" to add spin- 10 pin - try to get as many strikes as you can to rack up the perfect score- 100 pin - try to knock all the 100 pins down with one ball (I've fluked it once)- spin control - dodge the obstacles on the courseCANOEING- use the Wii remote to paddle your canoe - yes it is as boring as it sounds- speed challenge- verses - even the competition side of this game is extremely dullCYCLING - use the remote to peddle your canoe ... oops sorry, your bicycle round the island- road race- verses - as with the canoeing even competition can't make this any less tediousFRISBEE - use the wii remote to angle your frisbee- dog frisbee - hit the target and have your Wii pooch fetch your frisbee back- frisbee golf - play the Wuhu Island golf course with your frisbeeGOLF - play a number of holes on the islands golf coursePOWER CRUISING- use the Wii remote and nunchuk as handle bars to control the movement of your jet ski- slalom course- versesSWORD PLAY - your wii remote is your sword- duel - fight others- speed slicing - beat your opponent to the cut- showdown - use your skill to beat othersTABLE TENNIS - angle the Wii remote to add spin to the ball when you return it- match - play against a Wii opponent or a friend- return challenge - how many balls can you return before you missWAKEBOARDING - use your skill to perform stuntsThe solo play allows you to hone your skills for those days when you take on your family and friends. The main problem is that every player requires a Wii "Motion Plus" attached to their Wii remote - this is the only game I have (so far) that needs the "Motion Plus". So unless your friends bring their own or you buy multiple Wii "

Wii Sports is one of the most played games on our Nintendo Wii, which is good going for a game that came bundled with the console. Despite it's limitations and brevity, it's still a great example of a game that is always fun with friends and family. The sequel doesn't mess too much with a winning formula. It's Wii Sports, but bigger and better. There are now more sports to take part in (although some are dubious inclusions), stamps to earn, scenery to look at (the game is now set on Wuhu Island) and all new controls to master.Nintendo have made Wii Sports Resort MotionPlus required, so you get one MotionPlus attachment with the game. It clips on to your Wii Remote and works pretty well, although mine has had some major calibration issues; these seem to have calmed down now. You will need a MotionPlus attachment for each remote used in the game, at the best part of £20 each this can get expensive, but hopefully as more games support the new controls it will be a better investment.Frankly, not all of the sports require the level of precision that the MotionPlus provides. But others, such as Table Tennis, Swordplay, Skydiving, Bowling and Archery are made far more enjoyable by using it. You can slice and spin the ball in table tennis, for example. Some other sports, like Frisbee (especially the Golf variant) and Cycling, are arguably made a bit harder than they need to be with the MotionPlus, but then I guess practice makes perfect. Some of the sports are just not all that good, flying a plane around barely qualifies as a game and is more of a tech demo, the canoeing is very dull and the wakeboarding is far too repetitive to be fun for long. They are enlivened when multiple players are involved, but not by much.Generally though, Wii Sports Resort is great fun. There is a heck of a lot to do, and with stamps to earn (by completing certain feats in each sport, some of which are mind-bogglingly hard) and high scores to compete for with friends, it should keep you busy for some time. If you will mainly be playing the game solo, your interest may wane much faster. The overall presentation is cute and very slick, the controls are generally reliable and most of the sports work well. If you enjoyed Wii Sports and like a little (gentle) exercise to go with your gaming, book your trip to Wuhu Island right now.

A really well crafted flagship game for the Wii; this is what the console was made for. With a wonderful selection of mini-games Wii Sport Resort brings you high quality entertainment for all ages. My parents recently visited and to watch my 70 year old father sword fight my 60 year old mother was hilarious. My mother's a complete techno-phob and she couldn't get enough of it. Swordplay, Table Tennis, Archery and Frisbee were the favourites. The games are:Swordplay - Brilliant 1 or 2 player fun, worth the price on its own. In 1 player the opponents get tougher as you go, so there's always a challenge. Needs 2 Motion Plus controllers for 2 players.Wakeboarding - A giggle and simple.Only need one Motion Plus for 2 players (or more) as you take turns.Frisbee - With a dog catching it or frisbee golf. Tricky to master at first, but fun. Only need one Motion Plus for 2 players (or more) as you take turns.Archery - I had to use this to get my parents heart rates down. Only need one Motion Plus for 2 players (or more) as you take turns.Basketball - To be totally honest I haven't got round to this one, but what I've tried of it was ok. Needs 2 Motion Plus controllers for 2 players.Table Tennis - Excellent game, brings out the competitor in everyone. Needs 2 Motion Plus controllers for 2 players.Golf - Actually quite advanced for a mini-game; the putting is a bit simplified, but the game doesn't suffer for it. Only need one Motion Plus for 2 players (or more) as you take turns.Bowling - Better than the original Sports version (probably because of the Motion Plus). Only need one Motion Plus for 2 players (or more) as you take turns.Power Cruising - Nobody really got on with this game; oh well, one duffer's not bad. Needs 2 Motion Plus controllers for 2 players.Canoeing - You use the control as a paddle and this can absolutely exhaust you if you go for the full rowing action, good fun. Needs 2 Motion Plus controllers for 2 players.Cycling - A little weird, peddling with your hands using the remotes. Needs 2 Motion Plus controllers for 2 players.Air Sports - Harmless fun, skydiving, touring the island in a plane or Dog-fighting (2 player only). Needs 2 Motion Plus controllers for 2 players. One word of warning, the Motion Plus things `eat' batteries, so get a recharger if you haven't already.

WII SPORTS came free with the NINTENDO WII console and is one of the best-selling games of all time, introducing gaming to new audiences young and old, male and female and set new standards to how games are played using the innovative motion sensitive controls of the Wii remote and nunchuck . WII SPORTS RESORT is its sequel, showing off what Nintendo's new WII MOTIONPLUS can do (there is 1 included in the package). There are 12 sports included in this game, all of which have at least 2 or 3 different ways of playing (for example - bowling now has regular, 100-pin and spin master modes; air sports has flying where you find locations and pop balloons as well as dog fights ;basketball has free-throw challenge and 3-on-3),making this game literally endless fun. The sports included are:1 Bowling2 Table Tennis3 Canoeing4 Fencing5 Archery6 Cycling7 Golf8 Frisbee9 Basketball10 Air Sports11 Power Cruising12 WakeboardingIf you thought you were good at bowling or golf from the previous game, you'll need to learn it all again on this one as it is so much more accurate than before, making this game so realistic. Each sport is so much fun and with the MOTIONPLUS they all feel as if you are really playing the sport (especially golf, table tennis and Frisbee). As well as having a personal score for your Mii, you now have stamps that record your achievements. You can now also play team games on a lot of the games, making this more competitive on multiplayer. There are a few things that let this down such as no online play and also having to buy addition MOTIONPLUS units to play multiplayer (without having to share a remote) means that this can get expensive if you want to play with 4 players.Overall this is probably the best and most enjoyable game I have played on the Wii since the original WII SPORTS and there is just so much to learn and unlock so I can see myself playing this for years to come (I have literally only stopped playing the original - some 2 and a half years since I bought it - now because of this!) so this is money well spent. If you have a Wii then you HAVE to buy this!!

recieved this a day before it's official release which was a bonus.i read several reviews before playing this game, some were good others wern't so good. to be honest i wasn't expecting it to amazing i thought it would probally be the same or worse the the original wii sports, boy was i wrong this game is totally amazing. until i recieved this game i hardly ever played on my wii, i only ever really got it out for mario kart which is still a blast. but since recieving this game i get it out at every available moment which is annoying the hell out of my missus lol. it is just such fun and very addictive. alot of people say the motion plus is not very good and does not enhance the gameplay,i have to disagree totally, maybe in other games it's not been used to it's full potential but in wii sports resort it works a treat. there are 12 sports to choose from which is 6 more than the original.swordplay 10/10 very impressed with this one very acurate motion and a hell of lot of funbasketball 9/10 also very good love playing three on three.table tennis 10/10 this is my favourite buy a long shot. it's so addictive i just cant stop playing it. very accurate motion. you can slice put top spin on it and even smash.Frisbee 9/10 didn't think i would like this one but it's very good indeed. love popping the balloons.Golf 9/10 if you loved this on the original then you will love it even more on resort more courses and 18 holes.Archery 10/10 totally love playing this also very addictive.cycling 6/10 this is one of the weaker sports on this game, but it's ok.canoeing 8/10 quite fun but it's hard work and knackers you out.Air Sports 8/10 good fun. if you liked pilot wings on super nintendo then you will like this.Power Cruising 9/10 very good fun indeed.Bowling 9/10 almost indenical to the originalwakeboarding 7/10 not my favourite but it's ok.all in all this is a great package of sports and it really show of the motion plus and what it's capable of doing. worth every penny in my opinion. 9.5 / 10 on the whole. excelent.

Wii Resort is much, much better then wii sport, so if you have tried and liked that Im pretty certain your going to love this.I was told how good this was by my sister, she knows how much I like bowling, and told me that once you play a game of normal bowling you can unlock another game where by each o the 10 frames consists of 100pins, which was cool.So when it arrived today along with my new Wii (never had one before) I quickly took the disc out the box and loaded it into the WiiIt does seem to be a little slow to get into, especially as there is a 3minute tutorial at the beginning that shows you how to attach the Wii remote to the motion plus accessory, but once you have watched it once you don't have to sit through it again.Only thing I didn't like was the fact that (unless I missed it) it didn't seem to give clear enough instructions on how to best play each sport, but as there so easy to pick up, for me this was very minor. So far I have tried the sword fighting, which started off to easy for me, I thought it was boring at first because it was so easy, but how wrong I was, as you defeat more people it does get harder, and after the 4/5 game I was nearly knocked into the water. The only two other things I have tried so far, are the table tennis and bowling as there are so many games to choose from it can take a while to fully get through them all, but so far so good. The table tennis was more fun then I thought it would be, and whacking that ball passed my opponent was fun. The bowling for me is something I always enjoy. Tried it on Wii sport with my hubby, and its pretty similar to that. It doesn't matter how young, old, or good at real life bowling you are, you can still whoop people's bottoms on this, never having bowled once in your life.Over all I give this 4 out of 5 as it would have to be 100% perfect to get 5. But if its a rainy day or you just want to invite a friend over for some friendly fun, this is it. Simple to pick up with lots of variety.

Having played Grand Slam Tennis, I wasn't enthralled with the motion plus. It's a good game, but just isn't 1:1 motion. I later learned that GST wasn't meant to fully utilise the motion plus. It was designed superbly, then dumbed down right before release so that lazy people and idiots could still play. Learning that horrendous fact, I got my hopes up about motion plus again. This is, quite literally, the best game I've ever played. Wii Motion Plus is amazing. It's perfectly accurate, exceeding all my expectations and living up to my wildest hopes. The swordplay in this game is superb, and amidst the more energetic games are relaxing, equally fun games that allow you to catch your breath. The most exciting thing is that,as with Wii Sports, this game is not only great, but it's a taster of what the Wii can now do. (Someone said Wii Motion Plus isn't much of an improvement over the wiimote? Bull.) Accurate sword motion! Oh my God that's the best thing ever! Bring on Red Steel 2! Bring on a Samurai game!I implore you, this game demonstrates the future of gaming. I haven't stayed up until 4 in the morning playing a game since I was a teenager. This brought it all back, and with friends and girlfriend joined in. Sitting on my duff with a controller in hand just can't compare to leaping around my living room imagining sword combat and having the wiimote act like a real sword handle, the blade perfectly accurate to my movements.BRING ON A JEDI GAME! And please, when you do, let me use both wiimotes to fight with dual lightsabers! My recommendation is to view this game as a taster of the Wii's present capability. Viewed thus, it is very, very exciting. Even with that aside, this is the most fun game every produced.Bring on an action rpg! Engaging story + realistic combat + 1:1 sword movement = best game ever. Video games just got a whole lot cooler.
