I had a bit of a false start getting these - I ordered what was listed as a UK 5.5 but I was sent an EU 34 which is actually a UK size 3.5-4 so too small! :o( However, the return was relatively easy and free and I ordered another, bigger pair. I suspected after this that the sizes given were in fact US not UK sizes so I plumped for what was listed as a 7.5-8. Glad to say, these fit my 5.5 size feet perfectly. So be warned, getting the right size can be a bit of a minefield (as a few other reviews have noted). Googling a shoe size conversion chart really helped! Now to the shoes. I have been looking for the right pair of thin-soled, lightweight running shoes for ages.I am a neutral forefoot runner and I find that most running shoes really make my mid-foot ache on a run, probably because most are designed for heel-strikers and are full of tech like torsion bars and sprung heels. The only pair of trainers I have (and I’ve tried loads which my bank balance didn’t thank me for and I’ve even been to a running shop to have a gait analysis/‘professional’ opinion which really didn’t help!) that don’t hurt my feet are a pair of speedwork/racing trainers but they’re now discontinued and very worn out.I’d seen Vibram Fivefingers around but didn’t immediately buy as they look funny (my friend calls them ‘monkey feet’!) and they have very mixed reviews generally - people either love them or hate them, like Marmite.Honestly, I wish I’d got a pair sooner. They’re very comfortable. They take a while to put on (so you won’t be chucking them on to put the bins out!) but they’re the lightest shoe ever, flexible, breathable and the grip is excellent. I haven’t run great distances in them (recovering from injury) but on a 5-6k I’ve had no problems, in fact my runs have improved and I’ve got a bit faster. FYI I’m a pavement runner so I can’t comment on rougher terrain. I do find they soak up some surface water if it’s been raining but that’s to be expected of a shoe with such a thin sole/sock construction. I have been using them with the Vibram Injijii socks which I would recommend. I’ve certainly not had any blisters like some reviews report. So in short, great but really research your size before buying and get the socks too. I’ve given four stars instead of five due to misleading sizes given otherwise I really love them, wish I’d taken the plunge and got them ages ago!

I originally ordered these in a size 9 based on multiple product reviews stating that these run small. This was my first pair of FiveFingers, so I went with the reviews rather than my actual measurements. I am a solid 7 1/2 in practically every shoe I own - I only size up for hiking shoes because my feet may swell after multiple days of long hikes. The size 9 was WAY too big - my heel wasn't cupped properly, and the toes were much too long for safe wear. The size 8 fits as I expected based on the fit of the size 9. My big toe fits tightly in the shoe, but not uncomfortable. I expect the shoes will stretch within a few wears so I am not particularly worried about that. My heel fits snugly in the shoe, but the other 4 toes are a bit long. I am keeping the shoes and am really happy with the fit. In fact, I will probably order multiple varieties of these shoes.I did not buy these for running; I bought these for general cross training in my home (I currently wear socks, so this is actually a step up in terms of stability), and to wear for water crossings and as camp shoes while I'm hiking/backpacking. For anyone who is interested in lightweight camp shoes, these definitely fit the bill! The size 8 pair weighs 6.8 ounces. So, I would recommend measuring your foot with a ruler and comparing against Vibram's website. If I had used my measurements I would have ordered the correct size the first time. It was no big deal as I had free shipping and returns, but for anyone who doesn't want to deal with the hassle, use a ruler!

I bought these as I thought I needed a gimmick to kickstart myself back into doing some exercise, and surprisingly it worked! I was a little concerned about running without cushioned running shoes, especially as I have fairly flat feet and have always seemed to twist my ankles easily.I am about to complete a couch to 5k training program (with the zombies run app, also highly recommended!), and I think that helped me avoid the issues I was worried about with these shoes, as the training program slowly increases allowing your running style and muscles to develop to a barefoot running style without pushing it too quickly resulting in injuries.I felt a little ankle tenderness in the second week or so of running, and ordered ankle supports as a precaution, but the twinges had gone before they arrived (through amazon prime!) and actually now that I am running 5km in them 3 times a week I can say that my ankles have never felt stronger. I feel like slowly training in these shoes has actually strengthened the joints rather than wearing shoes with ankle support that do nothing to actually improve the situation. (Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, these are just my personal feelings about running in these shoes!).These are definitely not for everyone but personally I love them. Worth a try, see what you think, but I think they key is to introduce them slowly and not overdo it!

I LOVE these. It took multiple attempts to get the right size because it is European sizing, but I am Women's size 10 regular and these fit like a charm. *Note: you need to buy the correct sizing for these types of shoes because if too big or too small you will damage your feet running in these.I noticed the first time I ran three miles in these how important it is to gradually get used to them BEFORE you run. The three miles I ran in these was on paved roads and my feet- especially my calves- hurt like crazy for two weeks. It is just like running barefoot- you still need to watch out for rocks (I also realized this half way through my run when I accidently stepped on a stone and bruised my heel).I recommend working up to running in these like walking around in them for a while each day then gradually- one mile at a time- running in these. These wash in the washer very well- but hang dry. They also drain very well if you are curious if you can go in a water source with these. It would not hurt them. You might be surprised how much your feet do *sweat in these when you run- because if you get the right size- toe socks are not an option. I find toe socks and these shoes to be quite irritating and annoying.Give these a try- you'll be happy you did!*The pictures were taken 2 months after regular use

As others have said, the sizes are wrong. The EU size is close but the UK and US sizes given are nonsense. I'm a UK 6.5, who usually wears size 7s for everyday use, (size 7 is EU 41). On the box, it says EU 41 UK 8-8.5, which is nonsense. For me, the EU 41 Vibrams are a snug fit, and I think that's how they're supposed to feel, but my toes feel very jammed in. A 42 might be more comfortable. I'd go by the EU size and go up a bit for the best chance of them fitting.I quite like them. I used them for Taichi last night. The grip wasn't great on the smooth floor, but other than that they were great. The one thing I hate is that stupid elasticated lace system with the lump of plastic flapping about at the end.It means I can't use these for padwork (ever tried a roundkick with a lump of plastic on top of your foot?) Silly design. I may need to try proper laces if I can find any thin enough.EDit - I'm not sure that I'd want to run far in these. The toes are fairly snug and after having them on for nearly two hours this week, doing taichi and then kungfu, my feet started to swell and the toes became VERY uncomfortable at that point. I wouldn't like that if I was doing a long run. I hope they'll stretch a bit over time.

Several years ago, I first saw these shoes on a guy jogging on the West Side Greenway in NYC. I thought it was just another crazy trend, like people who take boa constrictors on the subway. But now I'm a believer.Once I put them on (in the right size), I didn't want to take them off. Have been wearing them around the house and outside for dog walks. My toes are loving the extra grippyworkout and my soles, the pressure and flexibility. They're comfortable on concrete and dirt/gravel, but I've only walked on them, not run. I'm trying to rebuild my fitness slowly after an illness, and I think these shoes will help to get things moving again. Thanks to the reviews here, I sized up to a 39,although I also tried one on in 38, my usual size. I wear a standard 7M foot in women's, with a wide toe box. Being able to feel and grasp with my toes in shoes is a priority for me, and these Vibrams fulfill them perfectly. For reference, the 38's just felt too tight all around. My toes, which are not long, were right up against the end of the shoe. The Vibram Web site says don't go by the usual advice to leave 1/2 inch between toe and shoes. But that's what I did in buying the 39s, and it worked.

Five fingers are not for everyone. I just happen to love them. This is my fifth pair in eleven years. If you like five finger shoes, I think you will like these. They are not advertised as trainers on Amazon, but that’s what it says on the shoe. They’re super grippy and hold well to my feet. I’ve worn other five finger shoes for running, hiking, kayaking, snorkeling (under flippers), rock climbing, yoga, weight training, and military PT. These shoes I believe will be suitable for all of the above. One caveat— they run small. I wear a solid size 8 and have always worn 38-39 depending on the model of five finger shoe. This one required a size 40. The 39 was insanely small. Otherwise, great shoes. Some have the velcro straps which I dislike. These have no velcro straps (a tiny bit of velcro to secure the pull tab) and very breathable. The pull tab is to tighten the laces. Very well designed. Tip— if they get smelly, I wash in hot water with scented laundry beads or a sport additive like the ones made by Method. Dry in the sun. Peppermint foot spray is nice, too.

This is my first pair of FF. I was worried about the sizing as EVERYONE has commented on it! I took advantage of the free returns and ordered three pairs. From those I was able to select a pair that fit -but it wasn’t the size I would have gone for or the size suggested on the Vibram site! I wear a uk8/euro43 in saucony running trainers and I’m a size 7-7.5 in everyday footwear. The FF that fit are Euro 41/uk8-8.5-or so it says on the box. The Vibram size is 25 cm which is the same measurement from the heel to my longest toe on my biggest foot. This is how Vibram recommends working out your size but the conversion on the Vibram website says that a 25cm shoe is a Uk6/Eu40! On top of this on the boxes I ordered, both the 41 and 42 Euro sizes printed on the box also said uk 8-8.5/us9-9.5/25 cm. So in short, regarding size-order multiple pairs because the system is screwed :-) Regarding the shoes: they are good quality and comfortable around the house. I can’t wait to try them out outside!

Long review: I ordered the 38 size I wear 7.5 us regular shoes and 8 us for running as I needed more toe space. The 38 fit great. I waited to do several runs with these shoes before writing my review. I have painful arthritis in my feet and with all of my super supportive running shoes it was getting worse. So I figured if supportive shoes are not helping I would try barefoot running. I can be a bit extreme as you have probably figured out already. But the thought of not being able to run is just not acceptable. My first few runs I took it super easy. I was worried about creating new injuries and did 2-3 runs at a slower pace with walk/run intervals. Once I realized my feet were not sore I started to run as normal. My calves definitely felt the burn of my new running shoes but I am happy to say my feet are loving it so far. Only time will tell if they are better long term but for now they are giving me hope that I will be able to continue to run for several more years!

Love them love them love them.I should have bought the size I normally am (39) but I read reviews that said they came up small so I bought 40's. They are fine for me but my actual size would have fitted better. When I bought my mainstream running shoes (that hurt my knee) I was told your feet swell when you run anyway so you need a bigger size.I feel a bit self conscious in them but not much more than I normally do wobbling around the gym next to the skinny fit people. No one noticed them anyway. They are tricky to get on the first couple of times but you get used to it.I've not run any distance in them yet as I am getting used to them. I'm only doing 30 seconds HIIT on the treadmill.30 seconds in normal shoes hurt my knee, 30 seconds in Vibram FF do not hurt my knee.Learning to use them properly will take time but that is worth it if I can run again, it hurt too much in normal shoes. And they made a friend scream :-)

I had been contemplating purchasing these for a while. Finally bought them and they are perfect, exactly what I wanted.I have only worn them 3 times and have noticed a difference in the way I walk. You feel somewhat free. Unlike mediocre trainers that harness your feet.I like trainers that don't look like trainers, and these are them. Be prepared to stand out from the crowd.Be aware these trainers will emanate attention. The first time I wore these at the gym, I was constantly stopped and asked regarding them. I Also noticed individual just staring at my feet.I am a uk size 5 however after reading several reviews I decided to purchase a 1/2 bigger (5.5 uk size).I believe if I purchased the UK 5 size they would of fitted like a glove, the 5.5 size is slightly marginally bigger however I prefer this fit.If anyone is contemplating purchasing these, don't hesitate, you will not be disappointed.

Love these.I've always used Brooks Adrenaline until I had an injury that kept me out for a long time.Getting 'back to it' has taken an age and I started experiencing problems that I'd never had before in the guise of tight calves and numbness across the sole of my foot.I've been running barefoot on and off for a little while before these new issues so have a reasonable experience but wasn't really sure what to expect.Since buying a treadmill, I've been able to run completely barefoot and found all my injuries have, so far, faded away. The problem was always going to be moving outside so, I thought I'd give these a go.Yeah, they're not as good as completely barefoot but, they're as close as you will get if you want some protection.I'd say they come in a little small but, perhaps that's how they're supposed to be.I'm only 3 weeks in but, so far so good, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I cannot express how much I love running in these. I typically like to run barefoot on the beach but I am now training for a mud run and must wear shoes for the event so I ordered these. I got them this afternoon and immediately took them out for a run. Regular running shoes constrict my feet and do not allow them to move and flex over the terrain naturally resulting in my feet aching from about 50 steps in! I also ran a half marathon in my last pair of Vibrams, 4 years ago. Road running is very hard on my hips and knees so after that I discovered running in the sand suits me well and I get to ditch the shoes altogether that way.. I am very grateful for Vibram bridging the gap between barefoot running and shoes.I wear size 6 in flip flops and 7 to 7.5 in closed toed shoes because I have wide feet and the size 7US in these women's KSO Evo Cross trainers fits me like a perfect glove.

I got so lucky with the fit of these shoes! After reading reviews I ordered a size larger & it proved to be the best way to get a correct fit. Not all toes are created equal, 2nd toe longer than big toe, and no problem with the fit. I HAD TO BUY THESES SHOES after having had a bone spur removed from top big toe joint, once swelling subsided. My pod-doc offered NO physical therapy & only suggested we fuse the joint in the future! No way was that going to happen, instead I wear these shoes everywhere so I can continuously flex the toes that had become stiff from traditional footwear. I will buy another pair when these wear out -- anything to avoid surgery. Also buy socks to wear with them, you'll be happier!! And don't get frustrated with getting your toes to cooperate & move into the spaces, it takes some practice if your piggies don't go where they're suppose to at first.

I bought these as I care about my feet and looking after my toes; I like the idea of wearing footwear that allows my feet to work as naturally as possible, rather than contorting them into a pair of shoes with pointed toes or high heels. :) These definitely fit the bill. I've fairly rapidly accelerated through the 'getting used to them' period; wore them in the house for an evening or two; went for a walk outdoors in them, then around town; set out on a country walk and ended up jogging in them! Felt great even on compacted soil, although walking over sections of gravel on tarmacked roads reminded me of the sensitivity of my feet! Not too cool if you come into contact with puddles(!)but then they're not meant to be waterproof! All in all, I'm really pleased with them. Am considering running further than 5km in them, to see how I fare...
