Let me be honest from the start – I am an action camera junkie! I have owned pretty much every action sports camera made from the most recent Go Pro models (currently a Hero 4 Silver and below) through to the god awful Drift Ghost as well as the Veho HD10 NPNG. Why have I owned so many? Because I do a lot of fun stuff that I like to film or timelapse – this sometimes leads to cameras M.I.A. I also enjoy owning gadgets - with the exception of the Hero 4 Black which I think is totally overkill for what I need. I do not film or edit in 4k. I don’t want to have to buy a new computer, software, additional storage for large 4k rushes and a 4k TV to be able to handle and watch back my content – it is a totally pro-sumer level camera. Also other than the 4k and RAW photos it is not a huge advance on the Hero 3 Black which I own – so the way I look at I have saved myself £400.The Muvi K2 NPNG is not the first Veho product I purchased (and reviewed a Veho HD10 NPNG here on Amazon). What Veho seem to be able to do is produce really great cameras with a load of added value extras at a really great price. I learned this lesson when I bought the HD10 NPNG, as I previously thought if it was the most expensive it was the best – think Stella Artois and it being reassuringly expensive – well it just isn’t true. What you are actually paying for is the huge marketing campaign that sold it to you in the first place – after all they are pretty impressive videos! ;) And then every single one of their athletes etc etc – you get the idea!So the K2 NPNG – simply a fantastic camera and a huge step up on the HD10 that I still own (flipping thing won’t die!). The Muvi K2 is better than my Go Pro Hero 3 Black+ in almost every area and it is certainly a match for my new Go Pro Hero 4 Silver (come back to this bit!). Low light – the Muvi K2 wins. Bright light – the Muvi K2 wins. Fast moving action – Muvi K2 wins. Whatever I have thrown at it, it beats a Go Pro at every turn. I have posted some stills from my Muvi K2 alongside this review – they are completely unedited and straight from the camera – seriously impressive. The other thing the Muvi K2 does which is unique to them is that the timelapse feature actually builds you a finished movie – massively helpful and never thought something so simply would be so pleasing. Muvi have kept the stand by feature from the HD10 – I love this as it means you don’t have to turn it off. It also has a G sensor which will turn the camera on and set it off recording when it detects movement – fantastic when trying to manage batteries. Now for that ‘almost every area’ bit – the Muvi K2 does not shoot 4k or 2.7k like my Hero 3 Black+. Now personally, what I do is for fun. I do not work for a TV production company nor do I own a 4k TV (which I think is probably 99% of the people that buy this type of camera) so 4k is not of any interest. If you want 4k then look elsewhere, in fact I wouldn’t even bother with the Hero 3 Black+ – 4k with 15fps is only good for slow moving stuff. You need to be looking at spending almost double the price of a Muvi K2 NPNG to get a Go Pro Hero 4 Black Edition which does 4k @30fps.Quality of the images aside, the Muvi K2 NPNG also wins for me in three other important areas –Battery lifeWhat’s in the boxAnd value for moneyThe battery capacity of the Muvi K2 is almost 30% larger than a Go Pro. It lasts an incredibly long time. Now the K2 does have wifi like the Go Pro but it does not eat battery anywhere near as much as a Go Pro does. A big step up for the K2 over the Muvi HD10 is also that the K2’s battery is removable. If you are planning on using any actions sports camera over the course of a day out for example then you want a removable battery (for me this is why I won’t purchase Go Pro’s £100 Hero – bonkers decision on their part). Also why wifi? Well both Muvi and Go Pro have their own free app – the apps are pretty much like for like and allow you to control their respective cameras equally. The Muvi K2 (and K1) were out for a little while but I had heard the NPNG bundle was coming so I decided to wait before I jumped in (must be getting old!). I am glad I did – as with previous my previous Muvi purchase the NPNG bundle is the one to go for! The amount of extra kit you get is fantastic and now it all comes in a reusable storage case which on its own I would pay expect to pay £25 for. Once you accept that both the Muvi K2 NPNG and the Go Pro Hero 4 Silver film / photograph to the same standard and then start to compare what you get in a Muvi K2 NPNG box for £240 against a Go Pro Hero 4 Silver for £280 - saving £40 is not the only area where you win! You get mounts galore and a removable button clickable with the Muvi K2 NPNG and not the painful touch screen on the Go Pro Silver. I reckon there is probably in Go Pro pounds (their accessories are expensive!) about £100 worth of extras that come in the Muvi NPNG bundle that don’t come with a Go Pro Hero 4 Silver. So you are in fact saving £140 (you even get a class 10 SD card!). Which kind of is my value you for money point.I do have a couple of niggles about the Muvi K2. The menus are simply new and different. Think of it like owning a Nokia mobile phone and then changing to Blackberry – it takes time to adjust. Even then it is a bit clunky compared to the Muvi HD10 - which probably still has the easiest menu set up of any action sports camera ever made! The biggest thing to remember is that to adjust photo settings the camera has to be in photo mode and the video in video mode – get this down and you will be fine. The other niggle is size. While the form factor of the Muvi has changed from the HD10 to a Go Pro like form the camera is still a little larger than a Go Pro. While no great shakes once you put each camera into their respective waterproof housings (they won’t fit each others) the Muvi is much larger. In fact I can almost hear my Go Pro’s bullying it for being the fat kid at school! Muvi make a big thing about the K2 being able to go to 100m deep (Go Pro does 60m) but the recreational dive limit is 40m – so who cares. I for one would much rather my Muvi K2’s waterproof housing go on a diet and stay in the shallow end of the pool. Finally my only other niggle is mounts and owning multiple camera platforms. While the vast majority of ‘male/female’ couplings are compatible with each other, the clickable slide mounts do not work together. I guess it is some copyright patent issue but if there was an industry standard it would be easier. In short; if you can get your head around the fact that Go Pro are not the only player in the action camera market, don’t need 4k and like the idea of saving yourself about £150 without having to compromise on quality of content then go and buy a Muvi K2 NPNG.

WHY I PURCHASED THE VEHO?:-research revealed the VEHO MUVI K2 pro is a good option to buy for a first action cam-nearly a quarter of the price of the other popular action-cam-a good starting point for an action cam - you can ‘cut your teeth’ on the Veho ProINITIAL FINDINGS:-micro-sim card required (not included with the PRO package)-quick guide operating instructions are very basic & appear not to be for the PRO model-I didn’t use the operating instructions on the mini-disc included BUT found the menu on the interactive screen intuitive enough to set-up-I noticed a couple of the settings are only selectable when the camera is returned to default - not a big issue-cam wi fi switches on immediately when the resolution is set to 1080-if the cam resolution is set higher, the wi fi takes a long time to switch on & then resets to 1080-the plastic stretch type protective cover is less than ideal, extremely awkward to put on & mine tore in half and is now unusable. (I wasn’t going to use it anyway-as it would considerably reduce contact with the camera controls & touch screen)-a lens cap may have been useful in the package - a far better addition than the plastic stretch cover!EARLY DAYS:-easy to use-menu easily navigated by touch screen-many useful accessories - some I may not use-MUVI app very easy to download, set up & use from smart phone-tripod thread on base is ideal to attach a mini tripod I already had-my main use will be using this tripod as a carrying stalk when on the move & using the tripod extended for desk top interviews-RESOLUTION SETTING NOTES:-4K 15fps -ideal for stationary/slow moving subjects-maybe when cam is on tripod (during an interview scenario)-if mobile, videos appear ‘jerky’ obviously because fps is low-2K 25 fps -reproduces ‘smoother’ videos-1080 50 fps -ideal for filming fast moving objects - or when on the move yourself-appears to be a good general/all round resolution settingMY USE SO FAR:-general filming with my mini-tripod as carrying stalk-desk-top interview scenarios with tri-pod extended-downloads completed-with no problems:-direct to computer-using app & downloading to smart phoneTHE FINAL ANALYSIS!:-a shrewd purchase if your first action cam-very easy to use and download movie clips, either directly from camera via USB cable or card reading device to your computer, OR, using the app to control the camera & then downloading & saving directly to your phone.-I bought the VEHO MUVI Pro as a ‘trial toy’ with the understanding that if I didn’t use it or didn’t find this style of movie capture useful, I hadn’t spent 4 times as much on an alternative expensive action cam-I could already shoot movies with my compact system camera & smart phone before this purchase - but the VEHO MUVI PRO gives that extra compact flexibility-I am by no means an action cam expert-such as maybe an extreme (wet or dry!) sports-person, however, I’m reasonably ‘device savvy’ and the VEHO MUVI Pro is a useful addition to my media options.

Purchased this camera in 2016 for our honeymoon to St Lucia as I wanted record the thrilling activities we had like Treetop Adventure park with the zip lines through the jungle canopy or snorkelling at different location in the Caribbean Sea, etc. It worked fine for the first couple of occasions then when we had a snorkelling tour at the Lovers` Arch (where one of the scenes of The Pirates of the Caribbean with Johnny Depp was recorded) the waterproof case leaked and fried the camera and the micro sim. I was extremely angry as the following day we were going on a Sea Trek Adventure Helmet Diving Tour.We contacted Veho and they were absolutely amazing! Their customer services are one I`ve never dealt with before! They were extremely helpful and understanding. They offered me a full refund and a new camera.I tested the new camera last week during a family holiday to Tenerife. I used the camera both for snorkelling and scuba diving. The footage the camera recorded is stunning! Crystal clear picture and with a new anti-mist pad (included in the box) it`s not misting up at all! I was absolutely amazed with the quality of the product! The only tiny negative about it is this: 1080 @ 60 fps recording is a bit juddery. To overcome the issue: all I had to do is to reduce it down to 1080 @ 30 fps and, as I mentioned it already, the quality of the recording is just amazing!Underwater stills: @ 12M the pictures are stunning! That`s all I can say about this. Stunning.Software/application: simple to use, easy to connect to my iPhone. Brilliant! This was my first action cam and was thinking/researching for a long time whether to buy a GoPro or a Muvi K-2 NPNG. For much cheaper price this product offers a far superior quality. Plus if anyone reads up comments on the very poor GoPro after-sales...well, Veho is far superior again!I can`t praise the product and the customer services enough. I do very highly recommend this product to anyone having the same dilemma of which action cam to buy.

I was a little hesitant about veering away from the ever more expensive "brand leader" but the price difference in comparison with quality, spec and what you get in the box makes the Muvi K2 Pro an absolute no brainier! All I could hope is that the performance of this camera could live up to the impressive list of highlights! To say I was not disappointed is a massive understatement, in fact I am thoroughly delighted and pleasantly surprised at how well this camera performs! To begin with, the presentation is superb, it comes in a hard plastic carry case that's padded inside for extra protection, the accessories that you get with the camera improve this already great value for money package! In particular the silicon case is a great accessory, perfect for making the unit weather/splash proof making it great for bike rides, beach trips etc.... using the K2 Pro is also very straight forward, although I do love a camera, I'm not the most techy of people, so I was over the moon with how easy this camera was to use, the touch screen LCD is also a much better addition than I first imagined it would be. The test run came when I went on holiday with the family, we used the camera pretty much every day and the footage that we got was incredible!! I've had cameras before that work well outdoors in full daylight, but once you move into low light situations the camera struggles and you end up with a very grainy picture, but I have to say the picture quality that I have had so far has been faultless! All in all, as you can probably can tell, I am very happy with my purchase, I have just bought the waterproof case, so I will be testing that out once it comes through and will update once I've tried it! Highly recommended, an exceptional value for money, high quality action camera :)Read full review...

This is a great camera, fantastic value for money.I ordered this after doing some research into what would be the best action cam that wouldn't cost a fortune. I use it mostly for recording mountain bike videos and this is ideal for that. It records full 1080p and the picture quality is very good. it can also record in lower resolutions if you want to keep the file size down. What I really like about this camera is the removable lcd screen, it clips on and off easily and allows full access to the settings when on. it a bit easier to navigate than the small screen on the top of the camera.I also like that it has a dedicated button to start recording and one to stop. Also another button for a still photo. This does away with the problem of not being sure what your button push is doing and what happens if you press it twice by mistake (easy to do with gloves on).It came in a sturdy carry case and was supplied with a 16gb car despite the listing saying 8gb.when i got it i noticed it would only record at a max of 100 fps, not 120 as advertised. Turns out the firmware installed isn't the latest. Quick update and now able to record at 120fps for the slo mo shots. Its a bit bigger and heavier than a go pro but I doubt you would notice and some of the mounts are not compatible. e.g. it won't fit on my existing sheet strap as the centre groove in the K2 mounts is slightly narrower than than the go pro ones.Overall I'm very happy with camera and can see me using it more for photos also as it responds very fast when the shutter button is pressed.

A great camera to rival the likes of GoPro etc. Films at 1080p which is what most people will be using as 4k is not used hardly at the moment. very good value with the npng set which gives you a cool carry case, with accessories such as an lcd screen, waterproof case and a few mounts to go with it. Also it worth saying the mounts for this camera that you buy etc such as suction mounts and body harnesses's etc are much cheaper than that of some other brands (you know the one) so overall it is a good investment in the long run. the camera is easy to operate and has been very robust for me with the waterproof case seeming nearly bombproof so to speak. All the little extras provided such as sitckers etc make it a great bundle for the money with a camera that can seriously challenge other well known brands for a fraction of the price. it may not compete with the absolute top of the range action cameras but it doesn't need to when 1080p is all i need. the wifi app is also very useful although this does drain the battery a bit which is generally quite good on normal usage. Furthermore the battery is removable which is good if you want to change batteries over and keep shooting. Overall the quality of the footage is very good, the quality of the camera is very good and the value is incredible for the price. definitely worth a look if your not sold on the main competitor in the market

I've had my camera since May 2017 and its worked really quite well apart from; using it in the waterproof case is very problematic. the case fogs up even with the use of the small moisture absorbent paper tabs provided and you have to switch the camera on before enclosing it in its case and it stays switched on until the battery dies or you open the case and switch it off your self. You can stop/start recording while its enclosed but not switch off. This is really pretty lame, I've no idea how other similar cameras compare in this respect but regardless, it's a definite negative in my book. Then again,The case is very definitely waterproof mind you,I've used it to about 10 meters down, you just can't see anything through the fog!Only other issue so far has been an odd issue (to me anyway) whereby the camera was recording for only a few minutes and then stopping recording, in spite of a full battery and empty sd card. I tried formatting the card but the problem persisted. I thought the camera was goosed but about 5 mins online chat to amazons tech support appears to have sorted it out with a simple reset to factory settings, as suggested by the Amazon tech advisor. So 5 stars for Amazons tech support but only 4 for the camera or specifically; the waterproof case!

Mention 'action cams' and most people will bang on about GoPro. I took a gamble on this camera and I must confess I was/am amazed. The picture quality in both video and still mode is fantastic and it is easy to set up and operate. The remote (to my iphone) works well and the waterproof case is quick and easy to fit when needed. As a bonus, it also fits most Go Pro attachments making it just as flexible to use.On the downside, I had to return my first camera as it wouldn't screw properly to the mount (the female screw thread was recessed too far into the camera body) but Amazon were, as always, fantastic. However,I can't say the same about the Veho customer support who failed to even acknowledge my email requesting advice.Time will tell how well it survives the conditions while sailing coastal Europe but.....it'll be a pleasure finding out!

The best sports camera I have ever used! This 4K camera is absolutely amazing. The image and video quality is second to none.Firstly, lets start off with looks. The camera look really professional and amazing. I love the dark colours of black and grey with some lighter colours such as blue and red also making an appearance on the camera body. It is small and easy enough to hold, attach to a helmet, bike or even your wrist. it is very portable.Next, lets get to the image quality. This camera can output many image and video qualities, but I prefer to set it to the 4K mode as I like to get the most out of each product. The image quality is crisp and the video quality is smooth.I absolutely recommend this camera to anyone looking for a relatively economical 4K camera that offers everything you need.

I own 2 of these and use them a lot for my film business. I find their low light capability very good. Day light can be a little over exposed but as the colour is very natural and not over saturated like a Gopro, this can be edited post. The included lcd screen is a little slow to respond sometimes and is only good as a reference for framing but when the camera is connected to a Blackmagic 4K video assist via hdmi, the picture quality is superb. Well made camera, WiFi is usable, even more so now that the app has been updated and battery life is over 3hrs.Have just ordered a Muvi KX-1 too to add to my camera collection.Yes reviews are a little thin on the ground but don't let that put you off.

This is an excellent action cam. With the NPNG bundle overall for value and quality it surely beats the GoPro. K2 uses the same mounts as the also excellent HD10; so if you have both (like me) you won't be running out of mounting options anytime soon. So why the 4 star review? Well, one of the big selling points, the built in Wifi- the android app downloadable from the Play store, isn't compatible with my phone. As I'm using a 2nd gen Moto G (not an obsolete handset, at the time of writing only 7 months since it's release) I'm somewhat disappointed here.Otherwise no complaints, and additionally Veho tech support are also very good.

GREAT BUY! I won't be using it much but I have used it for climbing, kayaking and general beach sports. Great little camera for the price. After some use I have managed to get extra storage into it, along with some 3rd party accessories I have been able to use it while kayaking and during other sports such as axe throwing, it has also sustained some hits without the damage and the cmos protector provided does a wondrous job of covering the lens.In addition I have bought a tripod for this, I was worried that the screw fitting was going to shear but nope, perfectly fine!

13.1.2016

Got for a bargain price at £167. Compared to GoPro it's slightly bigger when in the housing, but overall quality is great and video footage to date has been good. Housing steams up a little even with humi tabs as the camera get pretty warm. The LCD screen is a great addition for this and worth getting the NPNG version for. Still early days, so will update after a few months use.Veho don't provide any form of editing software for the MUVI, so you either use WLMM or purchase something. This has been the only little let down (GoPro provide a basic editing suite for free!)
