The box this comes in - by which I mean the case it is stored in when not in use - must be twenty times the size of the camera itself which some might feel is inconvenient, even if that case is very durable and offers a high level of protection. The camera itself is a wonderful fusion of technology and simplicity. For anyone who knows or remembers what a box of matches looks like, the camera is roughly that size. Most of the rear side is taken up by the screen which doubles as a touch screen in a vaguely similar way as a smartphone. Six pieces of information are displayed: mode (video or camera), hours/minutes/seconds, battery strength, definition, menu, and time lapsed.A protective film covers the screen which I have yet to remove, as it doesn't seem to affect or interfere with operation at all. On the right side (looking from the back) is a manual button for the menu, on the opposite side is a flap underneath which are slots for a MicroSD card, the Micro USB plug, and Micro HDMI plug. On the front is the on-off button and the camera lens, along with two indicator lights: a green for go light, and a blue for wifi light. On the top are two buttons, one to stop recording, the other is a shutter button, and the microphone is located on top as well. Underneath is a slide to access and remove/replace the lithium polymer battery. It's quite extraordinary much has been squeezed into such a small device. It's highly impressive. As yet I have only used the camera indoors, so I can't comment on its abilities to cope with its No.1 purpose: Action video recording. The MicroSD card (not supplied) needs to be U3 Speed Class 3 minimum. The one I've been using is a SanDisk Ultra with a Class 10 transfer rate, so no problems there. The instruction book is pretty good and is probably necessarily so for anyone new to these mini action cameras (e.g. me). I couldn't really call this a camera that can be used intuitively without any reference to the instructions, so they need to be clear and simple - which they are.Of the various recordings I have made and played back on my laptop, I have been satisfied with the quality of the video results but the sound quality wasn't as good as I had hoped. I guess you can't have everything. As for the Muvi app, which I have installed in an iPhone, it's not that great to be honest. Unless I'm missing something, I can't seem to download videos to the phone, which is the main thing I wanted to do. Maybe I need to do more research. For the moment I cannot recommend the app.Another issue I have is the 1050 mAh battery doesn't seem to last that long, even though Muvi don't make any grand claims about it anyway. Expect 3 hours max. You can buy back-up batteries for about £10.The bottom line is that this is as good, I reckon, as the market-leading GoPro but at about half the price or less.

Unlike many action cameras which supply no extras and which have to be purchased separately, with this you get a good 'starter pack' with several bits and pieces (two sticky mounting bases plus a frame mount and waterproof case mount). It's good that you get a hard carry case with it, but the case is rather on the large side - nearly half of it is taken up by an unnecessarily large foam block to hold the camera, and there is quite a thick foam surround in the bottom half and thick padding in the lid, all of which could have been much smaller and thinner allowing the case to be more compact. You need to supply your own micro SD card (it will take up to 64GB). Charging is via the supplied USB to USB Micro B cable. There is an access panel for inserting and removing the battery; I assume you can purchase extra batteries to replace when you are out in the field. (Don't make the mistake I nearly did of very nearly pulling the tape off the battery thinking it was a protective strip that needed to be removed before use - will teach me to RTFM first.)Video and image quality seems quite good. Sound quality (if you choose to record this with your video) is not great but then that seems as far as I can tell to be a bit of an issue in general with these kind of compact action cameras. The set of instructions is quite good and clear, and it's generally simple and easy to understand (though I do find it a bit odd that the on/off button on the front doubles as the start recording button and there is a separate stop recording button on the top). There is a very useful mobile app which connects to the camera via wi-fi so you can control it remotely and even use it to send images and video straight from the camera to social networks.

First off the camera comes in its own hard carry case. That is designed perfectly to fit the camera and all its accessories. Unlike the Go-Pro you definitely get more for your money and just as good in quality. The camera is quite easy to use once you know what buttons to press. The basic clip is not the same as a Go-Pro but you can easily attach your Muvi KX-1 camera into a Go-Pro clip by just sliding it in and tightening it with the large screw. Its great that you can see what your filming with the screen on the back. You do have to open the waterproof cases to accesses the menu. The buttons on the outside do work while in the waterproof case. The quality is fantastic. You really could compare this with the Go-Pro Hero 7. Its the same size and has all the same features. One thing which I though was fantastic is that you download the Veho Muvi app and connect your phone and control the camera from your phone. Take Photos, video, you see exactly on you phone what the camera can see. This is great if you have your camera on your helmet so not only can you possession it perfectly its easier to use. But it did not connect all the times. I connected it via wifi and took me around 3 to 4 attempts for my iPhone 6S to find the camera. Which was a pain. Once it was connected it was fantastic. Also it does have bluetooth but I could not connect my phone to the camera, it never found it. One thing did notice that it does not like the cold. You find that not only your camera battery go down fast but also your mobile phone. All in all I would say for the price, what your get and how good the camera is its worth looking at instead of buying a Go-Pro.

This action camera comes with an impressive hard carry case, big enough to carry the camera, all accessories and camera mounts. However, while it provides very good protection, it is a bit overkill. Action cameras are generally purchased to perform a particular purpose for a user and therefore would not normally require all accessories to be carried. No problem if it’s in the boot of a car but impractical in a backpack or such. The camera itself is a study little thing, measuring 5 x 4 x 2.5 cm and weighs in at just 69g. It uses a microSD class 3 card but this doesn’t come supplied with the camera. The camera is pitched as having a resolution of 4K. While this is true, it is only 4K at 10 fps,2.7K at 15fps but produces better footage at 1440p and 1080p which have much better frame rates. 30fps and 60fps respectively. More suitable for capturing the “action”.It shoots stills photographs at a high resolution of 16mp but this can be reduced to 12mp or 8mp.A minor niggle for me is that the camera operation is not very intuitive. Strangely the power button doubles as video recording start with a dedicated stop button on the top of the camera. The instruction book is decent. Operation and settings are easy to understand. The free downloadable smartphone app worked great for me and enables control of the camera via wifi. Useful for operating a mounted camera where the buttons aren’t easily accessible. All-in-all I’m happy with this camera. It functions well and comparative to the big-name alternatives. Unless you particularly need or want a GoPro this camera will do as good a job for a much reduced cost.

First impressions - Unlike any other action camera that I have looked at this comes housed in a sturdy case with a pre-cut foam inside to keep all the bits and bobs safe. The camera itself feels and looks well made. 5 star first impression. This comes with the minimum of accessories required to get you going: camera, waterproof case, and a couple of mounts with adhesive pads. It was intuitive, quick and easy to get started. The optics are amazing. You can shoot stills at 12 MP or video at 4 K (at 30 fps or up to 60 fps with a lower resolution). I have used it for both and have found the results superb. And so easy to use. I simply uploaded the app, connected it up (a very simple process)then used the app to remotely control the camera. I am told you can use the app to upload to various social media directly but have not tried this. The camera has a rechargeable battery, and spares are available so you can quickly change if you run out of charge. It should be good for 3 hours, I have had about 3.5 out of mine before it cut out. battery is recharged using the included USB cable. The unit has a touch screen which is sensitive and works well. It can record in low light, which is great for me as it has enabled me to record bike rides in the early evening or even at night. This is my main use as I like to have a camera record in case anything goes wrong. Particularly useful is the g sensor - this allows me to start recording using a simple motion of the camera. Superb. I love it.All in all I love this camera. 5 stars.

I've had a few 4K action cams over the past few years and all of them have felt flimsy and mercenary. They are designed to be put through a lot of punishment yet stop working so easily. I must also warn you against the action cams sold in holiday resorts as they are often assembled from cheap parts that are over 10 years old and cut to look like modern action cams. One look at the photocopied box art ought to set the alarm bells ringing. So far I am quite skeptical and cynical about the action cam market and it's hard to figure out which manafacturer is legit. As with any hardware, you pay for what you get. If a camera seems like a steal at £40 then £40 will surely be stolen.I'm happy to report that I am so far quite impressed with this Veho action camera.Anything less than 4K resolution, no matter what kind of camera you have, is just not worth the investment these days. The footage is crisp and colorful, with a wide range of colors and good contrast. The package comes in a sturdy tool box with a small amount of accessories for mounting on handlebars, helmets, dashboards, etc. as well as waterproof casing for those of you venturing into swamps, sludge pits, and the Thames estuary. The stills camera is a bit grainy though. I won't be using it for that anyway, but it is something to keep in mind. Of the three action cams I now own I can see myself getting the most use out of this one.

This is the first camera of this type that I have used and I'm impressed. Setiup and use is dead easy, and there is a god selection of fittings that allow you to quickly fit it to your bike, car (as a dashcam), boat or whatever. There is a waterproof casing that is pretty rugged and effective at its job (I used it on a pole to video fish in our local canal - no ill effects). The picture quality is extremely good. I was expecting something grainy but I was extremely pleasantly surprised, very sharp, clear videos indeed. Finally the camera comes in a stout case for safe and effective storage. As my first foray into the action camera market I have been extremely impressed with this camera.

We have been using this action camera for a while and sharing it with the family. The children have really enjoyed using it to make films and recording action shot and videos whilst on holiday and at home. The camera is compact and quite straight forward to use, with the images easily saved to the SD card, which can then be edited or the movies shown on the TV screen. The camera comes with a sturdy and stylish and compact case and a protective waterproof case for the action camera itself.

Small and lighter than my other action camera and half the price for the same qualityThe mounting point is the same so I can use all my existing accessories such as head strap, chest strap and flotation handle. My only small complaint is that I could not find an online manual. Fortunately the printed manual is up to the job.I have fitted it with a 32 GB class 10 microSD memory card. This gives over 3 hours of recording time.

This action camera is a decent entry level camera for those hoping to get into action filming - it's easy to use, sturdy and nicely designed, and is certain to provide an easy start for newcomers to this kind of thing, whether it be from documenting or creating Youtube content. Picture and sound quality are excellent as is the stabilisation feature.

26.12.2018

Pros: Excellent image quality, good hard case, large touch screenAgainst: Very little - interface slightly less intuitive than Go-Pro, but very useable.Overall, this is a great, well put together cameras, with enough extras to keep you going - recommended.

Excellent lightweight and easy to use, with good quality photos and videos. It was bought for underwater use when snorkelling and results are as good as more expensive cameras. Can be switched easily from photo to video mode when underwater.
