Firstly this muvi camera is a real tasty piece of kit, so don't be put off by its size.I use all sorts of high tech equipment in the course of my work on a regular day to day basis. The options for use of the muvi are endless and only limited to you own imagination? If you intend to use this camera whilst on the move, like say walking or running it will as you would expect be somewhat jerky, but I cannot fault the quality in fact I would say it is comparable with most mini dv tape camcorders for quality, if like me you need to use it on the move in high speed situations like say a motorcycle then I would recommend you also purchase the extreme sports pack that is made to work with the muvi inall situations and this kit makes a point for all possibilities.Since I have bought mine I have 3 friends that have seen mine and its quality of manufacture and are now in the process of purchasing.Make no mistake on its size?? Its quite heavy and solid for the demure stature. It will also take an upgraded micro SD memory card up to 8gb, although I used the high capacity version.( micro SDHC)One of its best functions is the (vox) switch, which means you can leave it on a shelf in a room with the vox switch on and it will detect voices or sounds above 65db and automatically start recording and stop when all is quiet,The lens of the muvi is very sensitive and will adjust to all lighting conditions from the darkness of street lighting to the bright lights of a shop in an instant. The microphone is also very good too, in fact if you wanted to you could use the muvi as a bugging device in a covert situation and record conversations in secret. The extreme sports pack has extra brackets for mounting onto motorcycles, cars, crash helmets, there's even a Velcro armband, and an extra neckstrap, a camera pocket clip, in fact well worth the extra investment as its made to work with the muvi camera.Prior to purchase of the veho muvi camera I checked out the reviews here on amazon and I must admit I may have been somewhat sceptical as the reviews didn't seem to be so positive but I had the advantage of the extreme sports pack with the muvi and my 40 years of surveillance experience to take full advantage of all the muvi's functions.Make no mistake if you do your homework first? Keep it fully charged via its USB cable and always have it handy in your pocket like me you will never be disappointed. The first full use I gave the muvi was to film a charity motorcycle toyrun here Manchester on the 7th November with its standard 2gb memory card installed and it took care of that job admirably with a full 90 mins record time.Result is: I am well satisfied and may well purchase a 2nd muvi very soon.Always remember, practice makes perfect.

This was a replacement for the same product - the previous camera would stop recording after a few minutes without warning, so I obtained a refund and ordered another unit, which was delivered fairly promptly. The GOOD points about this device are -1) Reasonably good battery life and re-charge time2) Images, although not HD and 4:3 are surprisingly clear for such a small device3) The supplied clip is strong enough to attach to a jacket breast pocket if needed, not to a shirt though - the unit is too heavy4) Pro version (which this is) is around 30FPS and relatively smooth in playback5) Nice big button on the top to start recording, easy to use.The POOR points about this device are -1)Sound has a constant background noise, like static. You can still hear things clearly, but it is noticeable if used in a quiet room, or to record a conversation.2) Slow throughput of recorded files to HDD using USB. If you have an SD / Micro SD convertor, I recommend plugging that into your laptop instead of copying over from the supplied lead. Takes about ten minutes to transfer 1GB through supplied lead.3) The camera time and date stamps all videos, in a luminous green font, and this can't be switched off.4) Would be nice to have a small audio confirmation of recording starting / stopping. Unless you look at the top of the device, you can't tell if it is recording on not.5) This replacement is not fit for purpose; the images are completely blurred and out-of-focus compared to my previous model. Yes - I have removed the lens shipping cover!I bought this device together with the extreme mounting kit, to use clipped to my cycling helmet, and it works perfectly for that. Straps easily to my helmet using Velcro in the additional mounting kit, and in good daylight, the images are clear, bright and fairly smooth when playing them back. Overall I am impressed for the amount I paid, and would recommend this device if you want a low-cost, non-HD camera. I recommend buying the separate mounting kit as it only comes with a lanyard and single breast pocket clip in the box. Unfortunately, this replacement is not recording clearly, so I will have to return it - but I do intend to order another one.RegardsSkybird

Great little camera. Very small about the length and with of a average man or woman's thumb. Picture quality is very good for only a 2 mega pixel camera. Microphone is very good picks up 64 db i had the radio playing at a comfortable volume and standing around 20 - 30 foot away from it the microphone still picked it up. can clip on to a piece of clothing with the supplied mount and can also rotate 360 degrees on said mount. Very easy to use switch it on LED light on to of camera is blue for fully charged give it a second or two then press the record button next to the LED light on top of the camera the LED then slowly flashes green for recording. All is explained clearly inside the user manual. The sound is on and recording all the time without anyway to turn the microphone off (that I know off). There is a function on the opposite side of the power button called "VOX" I have been told by the manufacturer that this is for when the camera is in standby mode (switched on for 2 mins without detecting movement) the microphone will pick up sound and start recording this can be switched on or off. It will take up to 8GB micro sd card but supplied with a 4GB micro SD card which gives around 2hrs recording. To charge the battery just connect it to the laptop. It can also be used as a web camera which is handy if you don't already have one. Because its not water proof I also bought Veho VCC-A002-WPC Waterproof Case for Muvi Micro Camcorder It doesn't seem to blur the picture which is good but it is slightly bulky. The camera has to be switched on the inserted into the case as there is only a record button on the casing. The casing also comes with a arm strap that stretches and another clip that also rotates 360 degrees. For the price of the camera its very impressive.

I was looking for a small video camera for a very specific need. I wanted it to have it on my person so that I could discretely film someone for public disorder purposes. I hunted around trying to find something as small as possible (think button hole style) and after reviewing the endless Chinese tat eventually settled on this, not really sure whether it'd do the trick.First thing is that it is really very small height-wise - no more than 1.5" in height. It comes with a range of accessories (including clips, straps etc.) that mean you can position it very neatly on your person. It's a bit of fiddle but this is probably more due to clothing rather than anything else. It's not invisible,by any means, but that's probably not entirely a bad thing.Controls are quite neat, and the build quality feels good enough. It can be a little temperamental to start and stop recording, but i suspect this is more due to the auto-standby mode (a good feature to conserve battery life). The voice control works - sort of, I mean you can tell it to stop, but I haven't worked out how you tell it to stop (if that's even possible.)The main though is sound and video quality. The reality is - it isn't great - about average. On a nice bright day and if you're close enough to the subject you can capture good video and sound, certainly enough to see what's going on, but this is not HD GoPro style quality, and in low light (think dusk onwards) it struggles. It certainly wouldn't warrant its £80 RRP, but but for the price I paid (mid £20 ish) + a few quid for an extra micro SD card, I don't think you can argue in any way, hence the 4* rating. I've since started using it for more things - just taking the dogs out to the beach etc. clip it on, start recording and forget about it.

Great item, but you have to manually code the correct time and date, otherwise your timestamp says 1980 (!). Here's how:To change the date and time stamp on a Windows computer follow these instructions.1. Connect your Muvi to your computer and turn the power switch on (VOX switch off) so that the Muvi appears as a removable disc on the Desktop.2. Open Notepad (located in Start Menu, Accessories).3. Type in the current date and time in the following format: YYYY.MM.DD HH:MM:SS i.e. 25th November 2011 at 6.05pm and 40 seconds would read 2011.11.25 18:05:404. Select File from the toolbar and then select Save As.5. Call the file "time" and then save the file in the first general open directory in the Muvi file system.6.Unmount the Muvi and immediately turn it off and on.7. The file should be consumed and the time should be now set.To change the date and time stamp on a Mac computer follow these instructions.1. Connect your Muvi to your computer and turn the power switch on (VOX switch off) so that the Muvi Atom appears as a removable disc on the Desktop.2. Open TextEdit (located in Macintosh HD, Applications).3. Select Format from the toolbar and then select Make Plain Text. If this option is not there, but instead says Make Rich Text, ignore this step.4. Type in the current date and time in the following format: YYYY.MM.DD HH:MM:SS i.e. 25th November 2011 at 6.05pm and 40 seconds would read 2011.11.25 18:05:405. Select File from the toolbar and then select Save As.6. Call the file time and then save the file in the first general open directory in the Muvi file system.7. Unmount the Muvi and immediately turn it off and on.8. The file should be consumed and the time should be now set.

I bought this after it appeared from all reviews to be the best, most durable and easiest to use at the price, now that the pro version is cheaper (Feb 2012), with adjustable frame rate, I'd buy that. The camera is excellent with a metal as opposed to plastic body and is easy to use; no multi multi multiple function buttons to confuse, you switch it on, press record to start, press record to finish and switch it off, very easy and also has a 'sound operated' standby button, again a seperate button. Even I was using it straight from the box. A well designed metal clip is supplied that hasn't yet broken, in a lot of use, as other reviewers complained of happening, and the manual is fine,it's all very simple because the camera is so simple to use.Recording quality is excellent, sound is very good as well, upload times are not as long as other reviews made me think they might be, my only wish is for a longer battery life as with the 8GB card I've just bought for around £5 on Amazon (apparently a class 6 card is the optimal card spec) the battery would run out long before the card was full. The only reason I'd buy anything else would be for longer battery life, and maybe an in-built screen, but otherwise this is an excellent camera

For the price this camera is excellent. I bought it last summer for whenever I was out on my road bike really as a protection against some of the idiots out on the road on 4 wheels or more after I was knocked off my bike by an idiot of a driver and having to undergo surgery to repair the damage and endure 4 months off work.Anyway I would urge anyone thinking of getting this to get the sports kit also which will allow you to fit it pretty much anywhere although I have mine on top of my cycle helmet and it picks up everything. I also ordered the extra memory card up to 8gb and find that I need that for most of my rides which last from 1.5 to 2.5 hours - it covers them no problem. The biggest issue maybe the length of time the battery of the camera lasts - it pretty much needs to be plugged in for charging after each race/cycle but so far it hasn't missed a beat.I checked out all sorts of cameras and have to say that this one, for the price and so far it's ease of use, is brilliant, you won't be disappointed. One thing to be aware of is it records in 30 minute segments and if you do not have the vox setting to "on" it will then stop recording after the first 30 minute segment.

Nice piece of equipment and easy to set up with PC. Considering it is SD quality the videos are good and the lens/sensor copes well with changes in lighting conditions etc.The instruction booklet is clear (but see below*)WIndows Media (Windows 8) refused to play files - making reference to the audio part of the recording being the problem. Downloaded Real Player which plays without trouble.I find the record button very annoying. When I switch Power ON the blue light appears next to the record button. On my camera it is then VERY fiddly to get it recording (green pulsing light). Press the button and release - nothing happens. Press for more than a few seconds and blue light goes out - then nothing!Pressing the record button for just the right amount of time is tricky and has meant that I have missed a few recordings when I have had the camera attached to clothing. I have to be looking directly at the light to make sure it is pulsing green before attaching it to clothing. Makes for extra editing at start of recording! Have I mis- read instrucitons? * Overall still pleased but could do without the fiddly Record set up.

This is a great bit of kit!...It was bought for a specific purpose, to secure evidence. For that it is absolutely great. It is very discrete unless someone knew what it was. It seems very robust, made of metal with a spring clip for attatchment but better used with the lanyard also to avoid loss. The sound and picture quality is really good and so simple to use. One button, one press, to record/stop.It also has a voice/sound activation feature that records automatically anything above 65Db and then goes to standby if no noise is detected until the next event. This saves memory and battery life. The 2Gb micro SD card supplied, gives about 1 hour and 15 mins recording time.Charging via usb connection and viewing on a Pc, so it will be trial and error to get the best picture. There could be so many uses for this...At work for interviews, Inspections. Evidence gathering.Or just to record your sporting activity.I don't think it would be waterproof so any amount of rain would not do it any good.As stated, this really is great! So simple. No adjustments. No setup. But you do need a Pc or access to one.

After having my fingers burned with a non brand chinese camera from ebay,i bought this for my sons christmas and can honestly say its an outstanding little camera for the money.Firstly ,its a brand name with UK backup should something go wrong.Secondly ,it has a clever little feature like voice activation which is realy great as the camera is so small it can be clipped onto a shirt collar .,the field of view is just as large as a camera much larger and the recording quality is very ,very good which realy surprised me.Its very small and very well made ,but dont let the size be off putting as it can be beneficial too.The only downside if there is one is you have to buy the action kit for helmets etc seperately, but it isnt expensive.Importantly battery life is excellent, you can record different scenarios for ages before the battery goes flat.Seriously very pleased with it and can thoroughly recommend one,it comes with a 4gb memory card but i bought an 8gb which makes a great difference in recording time and quality.

This was bought in feb 2011. Excellent camera, great in every way. Stopped working suddenly in September 2011. Blue light works, green light comes on, but doesn't flash and record any more. Cards are fine. I've checked every web site, and tried every solution. seemes that this is a common failure. I'm devastated. This is a fantastic product, and I used it everywhere. Carried in my jacket unnoticed, in meetings, holidays - brilliant. A tiny , light, "emergency" video camera that gave great qualty images and ok sound. Pity it only lasted about 18 months. Check Muvi Vehu sites to confirm what I've said.UPDATE November 2012: as I missed the thing so much, I revisited the problem.I wanted to double check again,as I was on the verge of buying another! Went step by step through all the scenarios, and re-formatted the card (AGAIN) just to be sure. Due to some miracle, the camera came back to life after reformatting. BEWARE: I'd reformatted the card before a few times, but this time it worked. So chuffed.

I purchased one of these cameras in june through Amazon along with the 8 gig card, as well as the extreme sports mounting kit.I mounted the camera to my helmet and used it on the London to Brighton bike ride, due to limited battery time, only filmed start and end.For its size I am impressed with the video quality, I was a bit nonplussed when I found it set file size to 26 minutes and each of these was 1.25 gig in size.I recently bought a class 10 card for the camera and then the camera really shines.Absolutely no skipped frames and a 30 minute clip is 700 meg in size, total capacity 268 minutes. An also essential purchase is the Pebble as you can charge on the go as well as the handlebar mountas helmet mount means lots of bobbing and the all at sea perspective.I will be purchasing a second camera so in future on long rides I can use one to film while the other is charging.I can see no reason for complaint for a camera of this quality and price.

I purchased this camera for my boyfriend after reading reviews for a lot of items similar to this and deciding this sounded the best. He's used it quite a few times now and we are both extremely impressed. The video quality is very good, even in fairly low light conditions. The sound is also really good. The camera itself is very small, which obviously is a really good feature as it does not intrude on the rider. It is also very well made.Cannot recommend this highly enough. It is an absolute bargain for the price, if someone had shown it me and asked me to guess how much it cost, I would have said in the hundreds. The only thing I would recommend is buying a micro SD card as the memory that comes with the camera does not record very long. Also since buying it, my boyfriend has purchased the sport kit for it, for easier mounting of the camera, but as these items are both very cheap too I wouldn't consider it a problem.

When I first saw its size I was a little disappointed. Nothing that small could be any good. How wrong can you get, eh?I first tried it at work, on night shift, in varying artificial light conditions. It adapted well at walking pace. The next trial was from my motorbike and I got good, clear video. After a few teething troubles ( me not charging the battery enough) I decided to use it continuously . A 4 meg card (I bought a separate high performance card) lasted 1 hour 45 minutes and took 3.75 meg of video. The battery didn't falter. The image was clear and coped well with changing light conditions. The sports pack is a bit naff but any half decent diy bloke could adapt/modify the kit to just about anything. One tip.Use the webcam software to try it out before using it in anger. You'll get a good idea where best to wear it and at what angle. All in all a brill little toy

We bought this for making ski videos. It's brilliant for the money, and tiny. You need the extreme sports pack to mount it to a helmet, and in most other applications. I've only given it 4 stars because the mounting kit was not that good for helmet mounting, and it required a bit of work to fix the camera solidly. A bit of experimentation is all it takes to get the thing set at the best angle, and once you've worked things out you can produce video that's easily good enough quality for YouTube etc. It's easy to use, so small you can forget it's on your head, good video quality, battery life and memory as supplied were fine for us though possibly need to take care in very cold conditions.I'm considering a faster memory card as recommended by other reviewers. It's great fun, affordable, and I'd recommend it to anyone wishing to take a first step making sports videos.
