I wanted a camera for my bicycle helmet so I could record my journeys. Not because I like to sit at home after cycling home from work and experience my journey over again on my PC, but it's mainly for capturing evidence in case I am the victim of crime or an accident, (yes I look like a bit of a nerd with it stuck on the front on my cycle helmet, but hey >.<). I actually brought a Hero 1 from Argos (sorry Amazon), a couple of weeks ago to see what I thought. I was so impressed that I ordered this Hero4 Silver Edition from Amazon, and gave the Hero1 to my 14-year-old nephew for his "penny boarding" and "free running" that he like to do.If I was impressed with the Hero1 then I am blown away by the Hero4.The recording quality on the Hero1 was vary good (at 1080) but this one is awesome with its 1080, 1440, 2.7K and 4K recording. I tend not to use the 4K resolution as I have no TV or computer screen that will play it back in all its glory, so I tend to stick with 2.7K. The battery life is quite good (a little under three hours) and the sound quality is good, though it's generally the wind rushing over the camera that I hear as I cycle - and my blowing out of my backside as I'm so unfit >.<)I have attached the camera to my cycle helmet using the hand strap for the camera (which I had to buy separately), rather than using the sticky pad provided; I just didn't trust it.What I particularly liked was that I can download the Go Pro app on my iPhone and pair it with this device. This means I can turn the camera on and off, mess with the settings, stop and start recording, take photos and playback footage on the camera without having to take of my cycle helmet and playing with the camera. I can do it all remotely with my iPhone. This also allows me to see what I am recording as a live link is shown on the iPhone.I note that when viewing the clips on my PC they tend to have a little fish eye effect at the edges in that objects are slightly concave. For example, a lamppost at the extremities of the screen was curved. I guess this is due to the how the lens is made in order to get the 120* field of vision. Fortunately it's only the edges of the clip that is affected. The Go Pro Studio software that you can download onto your PC is awful. Garbage! It's slow, clumsy and a royal pain in the backside. Well, perhaps that's a bit unfair as it does allow you to take clips out of your videos so you can keep the interesting parts and get rid of the unwanted. Proplem is that I use Cyberlink Power Director 14 to edit my videos, but it doesn't seem to like the 2.7K resolution clips the camera captures.Other little things on the camera that you can adjust is whether you want a red LED light blinking on and off on the camera whilst it is recording. You can select between 4 lights (front, back, underneath and .. somewhere else, not sure), two lights (front and back) and off. I guess the light on the front is good if you want people to know you are recording. It takes up to a 64 GB SD micro card thingy. The camera doesn't come with a micro card at all, you have to buy it separately, which is a bit tight of Go Pro as without it the camera is useless. You charge the camera by linking it to your PC via a USB lead (supplied) or by attaching the USB lead into an iPhone plug.I tried attaching this to my bicycle handlebars but the vibrations from the cycle made viewing the clip almost impossible unless I was on a vary smooth road or I crept along at a snail’s pace. On the cycle helmet is much better. If you use it on, say, a motorcycle helmet and you get stopped by the police, I advise you to let them know it is recording. They have to let you know if they have a body camera on them which is recording, so you should do the same. They cannot tell you to turn it off, just as you can’t tell them to turn theirs off.So, Pros/Cons ...Pros:Fantastic quality clips and photos (12MP for photos)Easy to useWaterproof if kept in the plastic caseCamera is removable from the case (unlike Hero1)Able to pair to and control from your iPhone/iPad (unlike Hero1)Battery life - not too bad at just under three hoursRemovable battery for easy replacement (unlike the Hero1)Has little screen on back with touch screen option (unlike Hero1)Good price from Amazon!Cons:Doesn't come with many attachments apart from awful sticky pads.Doesn't come with essential SD micro cardAll in all this was a great purchase and I strongly recommend it.

Didn't buy on Amazon but it is definitely as cheap on here as anywhere but writing this review here because I purchased primarily based on reviews on here. Many, many reviews put this camera above the Hero 4 Black because of the screen on the Back. I have to say this is the reason I bought it and I am glad I did - The back screen means this now is my go-to camera - as expected, excellent for all the action shots, but now also good as a tiny general camera.I was expecting the battery to be a problem and so bough two spare ones but, honestly, even after a whole day of on-off filming and shooting at a lido with my kids, the battery was still half full. Expect, in colder temperatures, for the battery to last less time....but I have not had a problem. Spare batteries are cheap - I get OEM ones and am glad I have - for £15 they are great.Remember you will need a BIG Micro SD card (recommend Sandisk Extreme or equivalent) - don't skimp on this - High quality images come at a cost - they use a lot of card space and they need VERY FAST transfer rates. If you are going to spend £250 on a camera the size of a matchbox don't ruin your experience with a cheap SD card - they will not work well (many people then go on to blame the camera for skipping images - 'tis a low quality card, not the camera!)This is the first GoPro I have bought, it is the first one that I think truly represents value for money. Photo quality is excellent (12MP), Video Quality is Outstanding - better than any video camera I have used before. Colours are fantastic.VERY easy to use, especially with the back screen (which does not seem to adversely affect battery life - lots of reviews say silver lasts longer than the black - higher demand due to 4K)Why did I not get the Black Edition?:- £100 more, and if I have £100 to spend I still would not get the Black edition - I like the screen- No Back Screen- Black Films 4K but only at 30fps (if I do want 4K I'll wait until at least 60fps available so I can slow down) - 1080p at 60fps is good enough for all of my requirements. Sliver does do 4K but only at 15fps - I will never use this function (pointless).- 1080p is Excellent but munches through a 64GB Micro SD in around 2h-3h, 4K will eat much more memory card space (4x 1080p I think) - so less recording time.Recommended Essential Accessories for general use:- Spare Battery(s) £15 OEM- Wrist/Hand Mound £7 non OEM (Mudder 360 is good)- GoPro 3 way selfie stick - a truly excellent product- Any other accessories depending on what you want to use it for (diving, skydiving etc)- Rain X - applying a little of this to the casing lens cover will stop water droplets ruining your shotI primarily bought this for filming the Kids on holiday but one lovely thing is that, once in the case, the camera is virtually indestructible. This means I can give it to the kids to play with (even at 8 & 10 they know what a GoPro is used for) and we get the most entertaining "Kids eye views" of their world - PRICELESS.Surprisingly the kids tend to use the buttons for shot selection (old GoPro fashion) rather than the back screen - my wife prefers the touch screen - I tend to use the buttons.Chuck it in your pocket and its ready for all those "wish I had a camera for that" moments. I tend to set it up to record 1080p video for the "Quick On" shots and then extract pictures from that - these are good enough to print at A4+ size, but you can set it up to take any kind of shot (including video AND photos at the same time) - read the instruction manual! Please be aware: to get maximum benefit from this camera you will need to:1) Read the instruction manual2) Watch some youtube "How to" videos3) Post Capture Edit - go pros free software is good, but most video editing software can be used4) Be prepared to throw away any captures that are not useful (most captures contain good shots but a lot you will not use) - if you do not so this you will very quickly fill up all your storage5) Ensure you keep the lens clean - so many you tube uploads are ruined because this simple advice was not followed!I did a lot of research before purchasing this and do not regret it for one single second - highly recommended. The ONLY minor quibble I have is that the time from pressing "ON" to starting filming is about 2-3s. It is recording very high quality images so I can live with that, its still faster than my SLRBuy It, Enjoy It

I've had this Hero 4 Silver for 9 months now, it has been used almost daily as a helmet cam while riding my motorbike. I will say now, that after 5 months trouble-free, i began to suffer freezing, lockups and sd error/file corrupt issues. I use a Lexar 633x 64Gb card as recommended by GoPro. Contacting GoPro it seemed that the fault was the memory card, so purchased another and the problems seemed to be much less. No more Sd error but the odd freezing etc i can live with.8 months on, same things happening again but ontop of this now i was unable to connect it to my pc(it wasn't not being recognised when plugging in the GoPro usb lead into the camera and pc).Contacting GoPro they promptly issued a returns label with instructions and i sent the faulty action cam via courier back to them in the Netherlands. 7 working days later i've just received a new warranty replacement from them delivered by courier which so far seems to be working great. Not been used except to test its ok, wireless works and plug into pc etc. I will start using it properly tomorrow!I cannot fault their handling of the warranty claim, it's been dealt with very swiftly and professionally, and to make it easy for me i got it delivered to my work address with no issues at all. And as a final praise they also included a brand new GoPro battery in the box!Anyway, on to the camera.I ended up mounting it ontop of my motorbike helmet using their curved mount. Its survived 3-figure speeds and 8 months of wind, rain and sun without budging! The quality of the recorded footage is amazing, freeze framing using vlc media player you can clearly see every car numberplate during the day. Nightime use is also impressive, 100x better than my Contour ROAM 2 was. The quick start is useful as it uses just a single press of the button to start and stop/switch off the camera.Battery life on 1080p 24fps medium i get about 1hr 25min +/-5mins, and a 64gb card has 4hrs 6mins of recording time. The waterproof case has resisted scratches although i am careful, and i've never suffered any misting inside it or water getting in.I wish the design wasn't so boxy as hemlet mounting is al,ost limited to ontop or on the side, the latter can make the motorbike helmet twist at speeds over 60mph tho so that is why i mounted it ontop.Wifi with my old old one worked ok but if i disconnected my iphone then tried to reconnect it didn't like it! This replacement one seems to connect fine every time and i can control everything using my iphone and the GoPro app. Tbh i hardly use this feature as my primary use is commuting on motorbike and the quick start/stop button is all i need for that.At the start i tried a class 6 32gb card but it was suffering playback stutter as the data transfer speed wasn't fast enough, the Lexar 633x is one of the fastest and i've had no issues except when my cam started playing up after 5 months....Overall it is a decent and easy to use action cam with high quality video footage(audio is awful in the waterproof case but there's no means to plug in a mic unless it's out of the case), there's plenty of sellers offering extra batteries and mounts, i spent a small fortune on all these when i first bought my Hero 4 Silver, but after 8 months most of the stuff like carry case, j mounts, goose neck etc i hardly use except for spare batteries and the charger and a small toggle bag to store the camera(in its waterproof case) when taken off the helmet.Reliability was flawless for the first 4 months, i'm hoping the replacement gives me at least a year or more without any issues.Would i buy again? I think i would say no. The reason being that i got nearly 2 years daily use out a Contour ROAM 2 that was less than half the price and endured everything the british weather could throw at it, whereas the GoPro went wrong after just 5 months. It's knocked my confidence in it being reliable which is important to me. I have thought about the 60 quid chinese ones on the market nowadays, but i know i will miss the quality of the GoPro. I will update this review in a few more months of use with the replacement GoPro.

I've been looking to buy a GoPro for a long time, and by chance I found a great deal when travelling abroad and had to get one to capture the rest of my holiday, and I'm glad I did.The build quality of the camera is extremely good, it feels well made and robust. The slight rubbery texture allows the camera to be comfortably held (when not using the housing). The waterproof housing is constructed well and feels sturdy enough for action filming and of course works great underwater. The camera itself is small, so the display is tiny but it's high quality. It's also a capacitive touch display which is a joy to use. The touchscreen doesn't work whilst in the housing, but the camera is fully operation using 3 external buttons on the housing, although it takes some getting used to trying to navigate through the menus. This camera includes wireless, so it can be paired with a smartphone. I use Android, so downloaded the GoPro app from the Play store. The app works as a remote for the camera and it works really well. Battery life is good and it will last a good day of shooting, but make sure Wifi is switched off when not in use at it will drain the battery fast. This charges via Mini USB, not sure why GoPro didn't opt for Micro USB. There's also a Micro HDMI port to play footage back directly on the Television. One of the most useful features is the quick capture function, which allows the camera to switch on AND start recording as soon as the shutter button is pressed. In terms of video, there's an option for NTSC or PAL. I don't think there's too much problem using either if you're simply making Youtube videos. I decided to use PAL (for regions sake) which gives slightly lower FPS. I did test NTSC and there's not a huge amount of difference. Both work fine when playing back and editing on a computer.Resolution: I initially tried 4K video, but at such a low 12.5 FPS, motion isn't smooth and it's really not worth using, so I quickly switched to 2.7K @ 25 FPS (Ultra Wide) which works well for general shooting giving cinema like results with excellent colour and clarity. I sometimes switch to 1080p @ 50 FPS or 720p @ 100 FPS if I'm intending to some slow down the footage later. 1440p is also available, but I'm not a fan of 4:3 video so don't use it. The camera features a Low light function which works to an extent, but image quality can get quite grainy the darker it is.Photo quality is reasonably decent at 12MP and looks similar to a high quality phone camera, good for selfies or quick snaps.Multi shot mode allows the camera to either take 30 photo's in 1 second (burst), capture a series of photos at specified intervals (time-lapse) or capture a series of photos at specified intervals and exposure times (night-lapse). I've always loved timelapse (& night-lapse) and have taken some great footage. One thing to note: GoPro have a list of recommended MicroSD cards on their website which list cards upto 128GB. The manual states support upto 64GB. I used up a 64GB quite quick but luckily I'd already bought along an empty SanDisk Ultra 200GB microSDXC Memory Card (90 MB/s, Class 10) which was supposed to be used for backing up my huge amount of RAW DSLR photos & 1080p videos. The card works fine in the GoPro and gives around 9 hours of footage. There's loads of accessories for this camera, both from GoPro themselves and loads of chinese sellers. I have a the official GoPro Roll cage mount which is strong but too expensive really for what it is, the screw can also be a pain to get in sometimes. I bought a cheap Vanwalk 20-in-1 Accessories Kit which is surprisingly good and has all the accessories needed for an array of activities.Overall, I'm extremely impressed with this camera. It is expensive, but I think it's worth every penny considering the amount of priceless memories I've already captured from all sorts of places that a normal camera couldn't go.

Bought on amazon as was one of the cheapest places i could find it. The delivery was quick and unboxing it was a lot of fun. The box it comes in looks really cool, it is smart, well thought out and i immediately knew i had made the right decision. I bought it a week before heading off with my family to the south of France, i knew we would have some cool adventures so wanted to get a good camera to document it all. I turned to the GoPro and have not been disappointed. We filmed time-lapses and various clips on our journey and the wide angle was super for getting everyone in and no needing a big selfie sick. When we got to the house we were straight out to the pool.I was very nervous putting the camera in the water so it was a tense few moments as i first put it in..there was nothing to be worried about.Along with the camera i bought a few spare batteries, (the SMA pack of three and charger). Although the GoPro battery is really good, i didn't want it to die and then not be able to film any more for the day. On-off filming is fine, it's lasted the whole day, which was perfect when we went to the beach and had it in the waves with us. (i bought one of the accessory packs with the "grenade" floaty thing in. although i had it strapped around my wrist, having the float meant that if it did come off, we would've seen the yellow float bobby around which added a level of comfort) ... One of the big outings we did was to the Indian Forest, which we filmed the high ropes course and then a big water jump park. After two hours of continuous filming it was down to one bar, so i easily changed the battery and we had fully charge which lasted for the two hours of on-off water jump footage and the rest of the day. Defiantly worth spending an extra £20 on spare batteries if your wanting to do continuous filming! This was my first GoPro, and i got the SanDisk extreme SD card with it. perfect amount of storage, and each time i connect to my computer to do some editing, it transfers my files to the computer and takes them off the camera so it's ready for the next day of adventure. I'm super impressed with he quality of the photos/videos. It is insane, and watching it back on the computer on a bigger screen is awesome, you can see every splash, every detail and the final film that i'll be making at the end of the holiday will be even better because of this quality.the instruction manual and quick start guid comes in the box and it is very straight forward to get going. there are only a few buttons around the camera making it easy to use and very quick to change between different modes. I watched some you tube videos whilst unboxing and before i bought the GoPro to see different set-ups and different ways of using the camera. Which was very helpful as whilst i got the camera, watching the videos back i could follow along and learn very quickly how to get the most out of the camera.Being a student, shelling out over £270 on a camera ... plus accessories/spare batteries pushing it over £300, was not a small thing, but i've been toying with the idea for a while and i'm so happy that i've now got one. Will be able to use it next year with my sport and have got lots of plans for the up coming months. was well worth the money!!!I would highly recommend it to anyone!GO for it!!!!

This is a review of the 4 Black as I can't seem to post a review directly on that camera's pageThis is the camera the 3+ should really have been. Now with the 4 Black we finally have usable 4K (actually UHD) frame rates, although as usual you don't get something for nothing.Set to UHD resolution in good light this camera does give stunningly good pictures, on more than one occasion when showing these pictures to friends on a 55 inch UHD Samsung TV they've said, "is that that really a GoPro?. Nice and sharp without too much edge enhancement and also nice deep depth of field. It doesn't seem to suffer from the focus shift that earlier versions of the 3 did.You still don't get proper manual control of exposure as there is no control of the shutter speed. The iris remains fixed as usual.I have used this in ProTune mode with the camera set to limit the ISO to 1600, low Saturation and GoPro Color. The colour is a little too vivid set like this for a purist but a lot of people will like it. Set this way at night there is little in terms of shadow detail, pushing the ISO up to 6400 starts to reveal too much noise. Rolling shutter doesn't seem to be an issue.GoPro have improved the responsiveness of the UI built into the camera, with the older cameras I found that it was quite easy to get into the wrong menu, mainly down to the fact that there was a little lag between pressing the buttons on the camera to select the various options and the camera actually responding, so I'd end up pressing the button more than once. I prefer to use the App to control and adjust the camera as you don't need to drill down into menus and it's easier to see on a phone screen what the options are. The camera screen is small and sometimes it can be awkward to tell what the icons and abbreviations refer to.WiFi range for control and video streaming is excellent, at least 50m indoors! The battery life isn't great, unfortunately it's worse even in 1080 mode than the 3+ with the updated higher capacity internal battery. You get 90 mins in 1080 25p mode with WiFi Off and ProTune on. 70 mins in UHD mode with Protune on and WiFi on. Also note that this is a brand new battery so no longer can you use the older 3 and 3+ batteries and charger. Also you do not get the remote control in the box.In UHD mode with ProTune on you get about 16 mins on a 32GB card, about 60Mb/s.They have also changed the WiFi power consumption quite a bit by adding a hybrid low power mode which uses bluetooth sniffing to save WiFi power. The WiFi shuts down after 5 mins to save power and then wakes up when the bluetooth detects that the App is being used. Very clever. When the battery gets very near the end it will stop sending video to the app but the app continues to function.Overall very good, over to the competition now to catch up.Oh and all the older GoPro 3 and 3+ accessories work with this camera (except the battery system). There is a new Smart Remote available but it still works with the old remote. There's also a new LCD screen which includes gesture support but I'm not sure how much of a must have that is. The old screen also works.

I bought this after a mate had one skiing and I got serious tech envy. I was going on holiday where the hotel had a water park. That and the fact that the resort had good coral sealed the deal. Ordered and received very promptly.Pro's- Picture/Video quality is excellent. When the light's right, this baby will capture anything you throw at it at any speed without blurring.- The touch screen. Or more importantly... The screen. It's perfect for changing the settings, and seeing what you're actually shooting. Those with the Black edition are stuck with the tiny LCD screen at the front or having to pair up with the laggy GoPro app (or I suppose fork out for the remote control... Urrggh).I found that I was keeping the camera inside the waterproof housing most of the time, so ended up getting very used to using the buttons rather than the touch/swipes on the screen.Cons- Changing between wide/medium/narrow is a pain and something I found myself having to do too often. Closer shots (eg of family) simply have to be put in narrow mode. EDIT - Double tap the screen. Simple!- Every now and then it would freeze for a while. Hopefully a firmware issue. EDIT - Haven't seen this for ages.- I noticed it got a little hot when filming. I don't like that at all. EDIT - Still hot!- The GoPro phone app is very good for camera setup/config, but for me it was a good 4-5 seconds behind on the video. This made it really tricky to line up what I was doing when I couldn't see the camera (eg when it was on my head!). EDIT - I noticed that this is only on my Windows phone. The Android phone is more like half a second.- Quick Capture - what a joke! It really should be renamed "Easy Capture", because one thing it isn't is "quick". As far as I can tell, it's nearly as quick to press the "on" button, then "record".- Highlight tags are a very good idea. However, on occasion I would inadvertently press the highlight button while recording (perhaps meaning to switch it off !). There doesn't seem to be a way to remove the tags.- The instructions could do with some polish. There's a quick start guide that in my opinion is more complicated than the user manual! But it's not so difficult and after a couple of hours of tinkering you'll be shooting like a pro.The Con's are mostly small gripes that can mostly be overlooked once you get used to them. I don't know if GoPro read these reviews, but I would absolutely love to have "presets". Eg Preset 1 = 1080p wide 60fps , pro tune on. Preset 2 = 720p medium 120fps protune off. Heck, even have settings presets. My wife loved to have the screen on all the time when recording, whereas I wasn't bothered. So let's have a wife and husband preset!Overall, I'm thrilled and looking for various ways to create some interesting footage. I can tell you that my run home from work makes for very dull viewing. As does my "look out of the train". So I suppose the next thing will be to base jump off Canada Tower.... It was nice knowing you!

GoPro HERO4 SILVERCameras ( still and video) have never really mixed well with water ( rain or salt) - even with housings - and are often bulky when used in sports situations. Enter the waterproof , small , simple camera/video units for the underwater and outdoor types – the GoProThis is the latest in a long series of GoPro Cameras ( many of which have been copies/ cloned by others – I had an early version of one of these – adequate but fussy to set up - but promised myself the real thing when I could afford it) .Bought the Silver GoPro 4 onboard a cruise ship with onboard credit , ( only model available) it certainly appears to be the best choice – even though the black model is marginally more powerful (but more expensive) .The silver version not only has an LCD viewer but a touch screen operation it has a touch screen for the waterproof housing ( touch screen doesn’t work underwater) – main housing good to 40 m ; touchscreen back good to 10m – ie snorkelling)A very wide angle ( can be varied) simple point and shoot “ go anywhere” camera with its own protective casing - Video up to 4k resolution , stills 12MP , touch screen operation ( or Wi-Fi). There is an app – downloadable to your smartphone , to allow control of the camera via Wi-Fi – there is a delay however. You can set the camera for fast start video or still using the settings/tag button on the sideTo get the best out of it1) Download and RTFM2) Check if you can use the downloadable app – i had difficulties with the laptop version – the technical staff are very helpful however.3) Check out any U tube videosSo is it perfect? The camera is great BUT there are niggles with the total package contents as received ( DO read Caruccis GoPro for Dummies and download the manual) . You will require a micro SD card – buy a class 10 - 32 or 64GB top grade card (Sandisc) separately , batteries need to be charged in camera via a USB lead to a laptop – OR use a USB power adaptor as on an iPad – charges faster OR get separate batteries and a separate charger. There are some limited attachments with the camera – basically sticky pads for curved or flat surfaces but you can find ( private label) cheap accessory packs for head or chest harnesses , selfie stick , monopod , carrying case ( £20) and batteries/chargers (£15) – budget ca £50 for the lot including the card. This separate pack should include an attachment ( screw socket) to a tripod or monopod - which is sadly lacking in the original package! Nearly deducted one star for this as using a tripod is essential with the time lapse or night modes You CAN use part of the packaging box as a plate to stand the camera on a flat surface.Useful for adults AND kids – in or out of the surf , snow etcSo – ratings – 5 star for the camera ; 4 star for the total package as received

I finally upgraded from the Hero 2 and am really pleased I did. There are loads of reviews out there that go into tonnes of detail about the settings, possibilities etc, but here are my main takeaways for those upgrading that those just starting out fwiw:Upgrading:- The menus are infinitely better. This is no minor point as previous models could sometimes be a real hassle to quickly dial in the settings you want. The screen takes this another stage further allowing just a few presses to switch between options. You can set and forget if you're just going to video, but you'd be missing out as there's so much potential with a few tweaks. Watch some of the GoPro made guides on YouTube for how the different settings (fps,wide/narrow, resolution etc) are useful in different situations if you're not sure. They really helped me a lot.- Video & Photo mode is great. This was available in the 3 I think, but it's a great option to be able to record video and take photos at regular intervals at the same time. Although the GoPro isn't really made with photos in mind, I've got some fantastic snaps that I'm really pleased with and that I wouldn't have otherwise had.- There's a new night-lapse setting that I tried out but failed to get decent results from. The night conditions themselves could have been better (lighter with less cloud cover) but I'm not quite sold on how usable it is for night time-lapses just yet.In upgrade terms, I'd therefore certainly recommend it over the Hero 2 and 3 - well worth the extra outlay. I havent actually used the 3+, so couldnt really comment on anything other than spec differences.Starting out:If you're shopping for your first one and are just looking for capturing a few random vids/pics, I might recommend getting the Hero3+ on eBay instead if money is an object (which is usually is!). Yes, the menus won't be as good, but it's still usable and the video results will still be great. I've come across several people who have bought a GoPro and somewhat regretted it as they weren't really willing to put the time in to go through the editing process afterwards. It takes a bit of getting used to, but does get better with even a small amount of time - both from the actual editing process, but also from thinking more about the final video when you're actually recording footage. If you're like me, you'll probably think, ah what the hell you only live once - lets just dive right in.. and I couldnt blame you.Enjoy!

First, the downside.... for those who never had a dash or action camera before, a price of about £250 might look fair enough. But only to realize that the camera is not what you only need. As the pack does not include the much needed selfie stick, you have to purchase it separately. Then depending of what outdoor adventure you are into, you will also realize that you need additional accessories as well. For example, if you're into swimming, you might need a floater/bobber to make sure your camera doesn't get lost in the water. Or that you need appropriate mounts for helmets, bikes, surf board, etc. And more, that you have to purchase a remote control or you will not enjoy your camera on it's own.So by the time you realize it, you have spend around £500 or more in total before you can enjoy using your GoPro. Which is just about the price of a decent DSLR camera if you think about it.But if you already have all the necessary accessories, that's when the fun beings.I prefer the silver hero4 even if experts says that the black hero4 has faster frame rate. Honestly, I have no complaints with regards to that as the camera delivers perfect picture and videos for me. What I like in the silver, aside from being a wee bit cheaper than the black of course, is that it has a touch screen which is perfect for viewing your shots right away. Of course, there's an app for your smart phone where you can view and edit your shots. But the screen is quite handy when you are in the water and you cannot have access to your smart phone right away. Which is far more sensible, than getting your smart phone to view your pictures, then go back in using your GoPro. Isn't it? The camera which of course designed to withstand rough use had proven itself to be really tough. And the 12MP that goes with it, even the underwater shots is quite clear. I have tried an underwater shot in murky water and it still turns out good. Considering that the shots were taken when the sun is down and with no extra lighting from the camera as well. I'm not an expert photographer not even close to being an amteur, but I do like my gadget to be like a pro, and the silver hero4 gives me that satisfaction!

There's a reason the Gopro action cameras are priced at the top end of the market, their beautifully made, can handle video in 4k, and can go places that the larger Digital SLRs simply cannot entertain. The GoPro Silver has an incredibly wide angle lens, allowing the use of light to take superb images for a camera so small.Even though the set up menu, looks complicated to start, you soon realise how straight forward it is, and with this Hero 4 Silver model having an inbuilt LCD screen, adjusting the settings and viewing your pictures is very straight forward.I was convinced into buying one, when i was blown away by the simply amazing sports candid shots, granted these videos are taken by experts who know how to use a video camera, but there have been many instances where i would love to have been in posession of a still camera, but because of the weather, i was afraid to use one.Keep this GoPro in it's high impact quality plastic housing, and you have a camera able to take both photographs and videos, under water, to a depth of around 120ft, and in salt water as well. Not that your average photographer would use that facility very often, but in the Uks very damp climate, being able to utilise this video camera in any weather imaginable, is a big bonus.Photographs taken in 4k are incredibly detailed, and as long as you use a very high quality micro sd card, such as Sandisks Extreme range, the photographs and video can equal that taken by some larger SLR cameras.Even though the huge array of accessories are not cheap, every product is manufactured to very high standards, and the suction cup that you can mount on top of your car or other moving vehicle, is one of the best accessories.Maybe the GoPro range of cameras are not bargains, but in daily use, they are able to carry out functions that any other digital camera, could never dream about.Their expensive, because their rather good at what they do, and when something is good to use, and produces great results, sometimes it's worth paying for that pleasure.

Out of the box;GoPro 4 Silver is visually not a real change to any of its predecessors boasting its same small form factor. One instantly noticeable improvement is the addition of a much needed internal screen. Although the smartphone app served its purpose I found it a frustrating experience and one that would leave me a little disappointed that an internal screen hadn’t been included in the past.First power up;I really enjoyed how effortless and quick the GoPro was to get going. Although the user interface wasn’t like anything I had used before, once I cracked the basics of it I found it very simple to use. Within a matter of seconds I was recording, taking pictures and time lapsing with a few simple clicks. The GoPro has maintained its external buttons which I liked given the additional strain the screen will add to the battery. There were a few things that GoPro let pass it by, the very slippery tab on the battery, making it almost impossible to remove the battery without any real force and the lack of a hinge on the cover for the SD card slot making certain you lose it within a matter of days.ConclusionGoPro isn’t attempting anything ground breaking with the GoPro 4 but rather improving on its already solid GoPro line. The addition of 4K video (albeit 15 FPS on the silver) was a nice addition, however the rate in which storage disappears in this mode it’s perhaps a peek into the future rather than a real world solution. I find it difficult to find any personal major improvements needed in the GoPro whilst maintaining its tiny form factor. I think a few minor tweaks and a more manageable storage rate on the 4K video would be welcome in the future but for a waterproof (with case) portable camera I find it difficult to see a competitor better.Overall, it’s easy to recommend a GoPro to anyone looking for a high quality camera within a very small package. The GoPro continues to amaze me as I find new uses every day.Brett ParkerDefective Gaming

I bought this camera around 3 months ago, and decided to get this one over the more expensive black edition. Previously I owned the GoPro hero 2014 edition, which was good but I needed more, therefore turning to this model. I have no regrets. The camera is very small and light, which is very useful for travelling and fitting into smaller spaces, and less of a pain to carry round. I used it a lot when skiing by mounting it to the top of my helmet using one of the provided adhesive mounts, and barely noticed it was there. You can pretty much mount this camera wherever you want, as there are plenty of mounting accessories around on the web, making it so versatile and useful. The quality of the video is second to none. The picture is amazing, it's life like. You can customise the picture settings using the incredibly handy lcd touch screen located at the back of the camera, to make adjustments to white balance etc... The camera has plenty more modes, including burst mode, time lapse, night lapse and many more. It also packs plenty of resolutions, my favourite being the 1080p x 60fps, which provides a stunning picture and allows for liquid smooth videos. However, I feel the battery quality is somewhat under my expectations. I can sometimes get a whole day out of it, and sometimes few hours. I feel it plays up sometimes, maybe it's down to the lcd screen draining the battery, I'm not sure.I would recommend this product to anyone willing to pay triple figures for an action camera, and who has a decent laptop or pc to edit the clips on, as this will really increase the usefulness of the GoPro. I would say this is the best GoPro action camera on the market, as the built-in lcd screen wins it over the black edition.

I love it. I'm really happy with my purchase five months in. I got the GoPro for a hiking holiday and a cycling trip and it provided great footage of both. One thing I'd be aware of is that you need to factor in the cost of accessories. They soon mount (no pun intended) up. I now own the following accessories:GoPro Chest Mount Harness for HERO Cameras - great, but you look like a real geek wearing it :-)GoPro Dual Battery Charger for HERO4 - essential - the battery will run out before your 64GB memory card - be warned it only comes with one additional battery, hence the need for:GoPro Rechargeable Battery for Hero 4 - Black/Silver - so you can charge two batteries while using the thirdAthena Evolution POV Dive Buoy - camera kits (Black,Orange) - great for taking your GoPro in the sea with - unofficial but can't see how an official version would be any betterGoPro Handlebar/Seatpost/Pole Mount for Camera - quite expensive for what it is, but works greatGoPro The Frame Mount for Camera - bought as a lower profile case to use when cycling - probably the accessory that has had the least use, it's not waterproof so need to be confident in the weather if taking out on a bike ride!Smatree Full Aluminum Tripod Screw to DSLR Camera Flash Hot Shoe Mount Adapter for GoPro Session, Hero 5, 4, 3+, 3, 2, 1 - great for attaching the GoPro to any DSLR (works perfectly with our Panasonic Lumix G7)Manfrotto PIXI Mini Tripod - Black - this is an awesome mini-tripod that can be used for either your DSLR or a GoPro. Love it!

This is a fantastic little camera. Had wanted one for a while, and finally took the plunge last week. The camera itself is very small, but feels completely study and durable, which is something I was worried about before had. The casing is as you would want it to be, protecting the camera but still able to use the touch screen on the back (comes with another casing to cover the screen to, making it waterproof). There are a surprising amount of settings on the camera, and I have been having fun finding out what they all do! It does much more than just taking photos or videos, there are so many options for the photos and videos you take, you really can make it your own and do so much with it.I really liked the idea of having the app on my iphone, and using it to take the photos when the camera isnt in my had. Also, love the fact you can take the pictures straight off the camera to your phone without having to sync the camera with a pc. The only issue, currently, is that the GoPro app doesn't work with my iPhone 6. It is not just me that is having this issue, the app opens and the screen just freezes and wont let you sync your camera. I have googled this and it is apparently affecting users with iPhone 6 or above. My partner has an iPhone 5S, and I installed the app on his phone, and it is great, so even though I currently can't actually use the app (which is the main reason I purchased the camera!!) I am holding out until the fix the app, as trust me, you will not regret buying a GoPro!
