I'd like to preface this review by stating the following:1) I've been a photographer for a number of years now, and with photography equipment being notoriously expensive across the board, I've been keeping my eye on Apeman since they released their first Action Camera.2) This review is not endorsed by Apeman.3) It'll be honest and direct4)The Edited photos above were taken very quickly with little effort put into Composition - my reason being to test the camera in the hands of someone whose inexperienced.5) This is a first Impression - therefore, I've used it only a handful of times.6) I should note I'm in my very early 30's so it's not like I can just throw money around at this type of thing.**Purpose**I've wanted an Action Camera for two reasons:1)Underwater Photography & Cinematography2) Aerial Drone PhotographyIn recent years, especially the past 12 months, I've noticed a massive trend on Social Media that is Aerial Drone Photography. I recall the first drones being released but didnt pay it any mind as I was living abroad and working all the time. Many years later, I've been focusing on Photography ALOT, and sat myself down and decided how I was going to go about Drone Photography. I've little issue spending the €350 for a good quality drone by a recognizable manufacturer, but I also have to upgrade my Camera body and more importantly pay the costs of getting a fantasy Series published. Then you add the fact that I still have lenses to buy and a host of other tidbits, meaning - money isn't as available as I'd like. Thus, I came to the conclusion that I'll buy an action Camera, and find a drone to Mount it too.Now onto the Pro's and Con's:**PRO'S**-Apeman have labeled this, the A100 as "Professional," and it doesn't fall short. It allows you to shoot in RAW, or to be precise, .DNG files. Post Production plays a large part in Photography and it's in this, that I decided to actually buy the Action Camera.-The Lens is Ultra Wide and via Software has 3 Modes/Settings: Narrow, Middle, Wide. My preferred setting on the ground for Photos is Middle, with Wide having its place at higher altitudes such as on a Drone or in the mountains. From what I've gathered so far, albeit from little use is that there's no loss of picture quality between the 3 Modes.-The Smartphone Software allows you to seamlessly adjust the Camera settings and modes, so wether its 10 feet in the air on a drone, or in front of you on a Tri-pod, simply connect it to the Cameravia your phones wifi network and use that to capture Photos and Video. I'll also clarify that while the video might stutter on the app, the original does not. Also, if you dont have a 4K monitor on your Computer, than shooting in 2K or 4K is pointless.-The camera comes with a host of accessories and a second battery**CON'S**-Not many to list here, but as expected of an Action Camera, the Sound is average at best, and it goes without saying that once its in its protective waterproof housing, there's no sound at all. However, you dont buy an action camera for super high quality sound, and Post Production can and will make up for this.-A strange option I found is that it can be used as a Webcam, with the 4K quality, I can understand why one would want it - I'm having connectivity issues, but Support has gotten back to me Very Quickly and Suspect it's just a minor issue. I was a tech guy for a number of years. So if it's not a minor setting issue, a firmware update should fix it.No dual battery charger included [I speak more about this below]**Recommendations for both the "User" and "Apeman"**The A100:-It'd be nice if we could manually adjust the sensitivity of the Microphone for higher sound quality.-They advise you to buy a Class 10 large Micro SD card for it. Dont cheap out, buy the card as it'll effect the quality of your videos. Its like building a beautiful house and cheaping out on the Painter. (I bought a class 10 128Gb Card)-This doesnt come with a charger meaning batteries are charged via the Action Camera. Not a big deal as they offer an incentive if you review your "great shopping experience," you get the choice of 4 gifts, one of which is 2 extra batteries and a dual Charger for said batteries. Unsure how long this Marketing Campaign will go on for, so be mindful of a possible extra expense in the future.-If buying this action camera is your way of entering into the World of Amateur & Professional Photography with your personal goal of becoming one - then as a Professional grade Photographer, I'd advise you to save mroem oney and buy a proper DLSR. This Action Camera is amazing, but it's not a Professional grade DSLR. Its an Action Camera. Although I will state that this Action Camera needs to be part of your arsenal at some point.-Despite a lot of accessories being included and in large, everything you'll need. It doesnt hurt to buy one of those 53 in 1 Kits you see floating here on Amazon - if Apeman had offered such a kit, I'd have bought it.Drone Related:-a healthy endeavor for your company, Apeman, would be the release of a Series of Drones:-Series 1: a drone that allows your action camera's to be mounted to it and integrate with software on smartphones, but boosting the signal power by using a physical remote control.-Series 2: another series of drones with built in Camera's with the lower end having from stationary manually adjusted cameras and, higher end models possessing a Gimbal Arm for mid air Adjustments and upgraded camera's.-I'd love to see some of the Drone Company's get a good run for their money as there prices are outlandish.Final Opinion - First ImpressionThis is an outstanding piece of equipment and for the Price, it's absolutely worth it. It comes with a host of other settings such as "Slow Mo" video and Time Lapse, all of which I've yet to explore. Many of the extra functions I can do on my Nikon, and others I can't. So it's going to be nice to explore them.I compared the 4K video on the Action Camera with that of my Phone and what I can record on that and, the quality is much better. If you're on the fence, you're looking for something to have fun with when your out and about and travelling and dont want the hassle of Digital Camera or a DSLR, then this is right up your alley - just remember what I said above about the shooting quality of the videos. As well as branching into the world of Amateur/Professional photography.Other than that, you'd be foolish to hesitate. I dont spend money lightly on Photography related equipment.PS: This loses a star on battery life simply due to lack of use, nothing more.

After getting into mountain biking I decided I needed a new action camera. The camera i currently had only had one battery and replacements for that particular camera were difficult to find and expensive. After researching budget cameras under £100 i realised that the various models from apeman were looking very promising. I settled on the A100 TRAWO in the end as it had been reduced in price and with additional voucher added i Paid around £59 for mine. The camera arrived and i was well impressed with the selection of extras especially as the camera is supplied with two batteries. My intended use of the camera is to produce POV footage of mountain bike rides as well as other content for my outdoors YouTube channel.Ive so far only used on a couple of rides and a walk but am so far very pleased with the results. The main setting/resolution i use is 1080p @30fps lens set at wide and anti shake on. First thing i noticed is when the anti shake is on you do lose a little of the picture as the cameras software crops into the video to compensate for shaking. Image quality is generally good although when using anti shake some of the sharpness is lost and the image is softened very slightly. I feel this is acceptable on a budget camera and am not expecting the footage to compare to stabilised footage from a £300+ gopro. The Videos are nicely coloured and natural and not over saturated as some cameras can be, a few simple tweaks while editing can correct this if required. During my rides i fitted the camera to my chest mount using the waterproof housing for protection. I fitted the slotted back panel to the case as i did not require the camera to be fully waterproof. The slotted back has two benefits, first is it allows the mic to pick up on sound batter than the sealed back secondly it prevents the case fogging up as can happen in a fully sealed case. With the slotted case back fitted and the camera on my chest i tested how ell the camera picks up audio by talking while on my bike. Reviewing the footage i was very pleased with the audio quality a little quiet as expected but clear and easy to understand levels were very similar to that of any smartphone video. Battery life seems good, I have screen set to turn off at 1min and the camera to shut off after 5 if not in use. during a ride i was out for over two hours and recorded various segments footage to almost fill my 32gb sd card and still had plenty charge in the battery and a fully charged spare. Naturally if i had been using features like wifi battery life would be far less but i was more than happy with the battery life i achieved. So far I am very pleased with this camera and will be ordering additional batteries and SD cards for longer trips i have planned later in the year. I am also currently editing a review video for my YouTube channel (Steves Outdoors NE)

Review 1Ordered this camera and got it within 24hrs to my door on a Sunday!Initial findings after one hour.As a professional photographer never thought I buy an action camera that wasn’t listed as being ‘top of the range’. So finding that I needed one as a back-up for an interview recording where water may be involved and not wanting to send more than a £100.00, as I may never need it again, I spent far too long researching the best one to get. After reading a number of reviews I’ve made the right choice. Now with this and I believe ‘action cameras’ in general, you need to remember a number of points.Stills - Photography begin with light. No light source, no picture. So if you’re using it in bright lighting conditions you’ll get great results. That said, it performs well in low light but expect some noise. Next the most important thing on a camera is the lens, and here glass, quality and size matters. These factors will determine the quality of the image. This camera has a glass lens with x3 settings via software ‘narrow’, ‘medium’ and ‘wide’ and it’s really wide! The image quality is better than expected. Of course it can never compare to a 5D MK IV.The 20MP photo size – that can be adjusted to lower res – is quite good and the fact that it also records DNG, giving a (24MP closed) 34.3MP opened, is pretty impressive.Video - This also goes for the video. If you’re playing back on your file on the phone, the quality is great! If you’re playing back on the UHD 27” monitor full screen, it won’t give you the quality expected of 4K. The sensor and lens won’t match high end cameras, so be real. You will be blown away by the stabilisation. You don’t need any further kit.Sound – many action cameras don’t even offer sound, so I was really impressed the sound quality when using it outside the water proof case. (haven’t tried it using the case so far. One thing at a time).Functions – I really can’t go into the host of function this camera has, except to say you will not find it wanting and expect to be surprised…Will post a few pics to this review in a fortnight after the shoot.Dislike - come on people, put at least a 16GB SD card in the box with the camera, even if you've got to up the price by a fiver. No fun having to search around on a Sunday for one!Review 2Just used the camera on a paid shoot and am totally blow away by the image quality. Think it rivals even the much more expensive brands and models. Sorry I can't put any of the footage up - clients etc. The accessories kit that comes with this camera is also very useful. It might be useful however to buy an additional kit with a case. I got one from Newer. Will be going on a shoot abroad in couple of weeks and hope to put up some footage from that job. Stay tuned!

This is a review for the updated Apeman Trawo Action Camera - the 4k50fps one. I bought this camera for £65 and by far it is the best budget action camera I have come across. The 4k quality is amazing and does not stutter like other budget action cameras like the Akaso ones. The camera is not perfect and you cannot expect it to be as perfect as the £300+ GoPro but for the price it performs amazing. There is minimum stutter when recording on 4k and there are a few artifacts but that is because it does not have the best sensor (but it does have a very good sensor). The menus are informative and you can customise many things or leave them on auto if you prefer. The timelapse feature is very good and lets you film the timelapse in 4k.The slow motion is at 1080p60fps or 720p120fps and is very good and allows you to slow it down further on a computer. The camera feels well built though the lens does get quite dirty so needs to be wiped. It is easily mounted on a Gimbal for action cameras.Pros:Amazing recording qualityPacked full of featuresPriceAccessories that come in the box; there are lotsBattery life is decent and comes with 2 batteriesDecent stabilization (not hypersmooth like) but it is very goodConsThe app is truly atrociousIf you attach it to a gimbal you cannot use the up/down arrowsThe 1080p quality is not the best as the camera is optimised for 4kIf you are charging and you use anything which can transfer data (including a car USB port) then you cannot use the camera to record (only as mass storage device or webcam).I would buy this action camera as it is the best one for the price. Make sure you get the 4k50fps one.

This camera is pretty amazing. These product descriptions seem to be out of date. The updated A100 records at 4k/50 frames per second and at 120 frames at 720. By the time you read this, the description may have been corrected. This A100 Trawo is what I received through the post next day.Slo-mo is great, and available in 1080/60 and below . Stabilisation is better than on my any of my other gear, and the picture is very sharp.I do have two criticisms, but I won't let them affect my opinion of the actual camera. The first is the YutuPro App needs work. so far it hasn't worked for me on Android, but I am persevering. Second, I would love to have received a case like I did with my £30 cameras that I use on my drone. You really need a case to keep all the attachments together - 6 pounds from China and 15 pounds from England, as usual :)It would seem that you need a UHS3 (U3) SD card. A normal class 10 can't cope at maximum video resolution.I finally realised that this camera is a few millimetres taller that all my other cams. This is actually a problem for me and I have dropped a star for it. If I want to attach this to my drones I will have to cannibalise the mounts. Disappointing.

I was sent one of these A100 camera for review and testing from Apeman. I was pleasantly surprised with the packaging and included accessory kit. I like the camera, it's lightweight yet is built to a great standard! I have used this camera in many different situations and have found the image quality to be really rather good. I won't lie, the audio isn't the best but you get that issue from lots of action cameras. What is also very impressive is the battery life, I found my camera lasts a good 90 minutes when filming in 4k 50, and the built in WIFI works brilliantly. You can download the APP Yutupro and control the camera remotely. Overall not bad at all for the money, and the one thing I would mention is that you need to use a 4k compatible U3 micro SD card, such as the Sandisk Extreme series SD cards. Otherwise the card will not keep up with the write speed required for smooth recording at high frame rates. The stabilisation really works, and I found my footage to be buttery smooth! Great camera, a good choice if you're looking for something cheaper than a GOPRO. - Jake

This is an excellent action camera if you're on a budget. It does fall behind a GoPro on image and audio quality slightly but it's a quarter of the price so you'd expect that. I'd argue this is more than capable for the majority of people who buy action cameras. It comes with a good variety of starter accessories (although I did buy a case with a further bunch of fittings e.g. chest strap and floating handle etc.).The image stabilisation is good and the 4k shooting is good quality. Photos are decent enough although maybe lack a little bit of vibrancy and it can sometimes struggle with shadows. That's just me being picky though.I read that a few people have had issues with the app but this worked perfectly first time for me.It's a really easy way to control the camera (much easier than scrolling through the settings with the buttons on the side of the device) and an easy way to download videos and photos straight to your phone.Overall I'm very happy with this for the occasional use it will get and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Took this with my recently when going waterskiing with my niece and nephew. The camera is ideal as it comes with a waterproof case that is great for this kind of scenario as the water keeps splashing in over the side of the boat. The video came out really well, but just incase it gets compressed to a lower resolution I have also uploaded a couple of pictures for you to view. All in all very compact, but definitely higher resolution than I was expecting for the price paid. Theres a lot of accessories come with it too, not going to lie I don't know exactly what they area all for, but I'm assuming it's different ways of mounting the action camera.Great gift for christmas!

18.10.2019

Excellent value for money. The camera comes with two batteries and a lifetime of one battery is close to two hours. The video quality is good and anti-shake make the videos really nice and smooth. It comes with a ton of equipment for mounting including for rail, helmet, and edges. The equipment seems sturdy and looks like it will last quite a while..The only flaw I found was the fact that sometimes when restarting the camera it looses some of the settings, for example, I had to set it to 1080@60fps like 3 times before it got saved, and also I had to set the date and time twice for some reason. not sure why. It now seems to work correctly and this didn't happen again.

After spending so many hours on reading reviews and comparing different brands and different models, I finally chose Apeman Trawo as my first Action Cam to start with. The design of cam is decent in simplicity, quite easy to use and without touchscreen (kind of disadvantage but not bother me). The wifi connection to app is pretty good, though I found that the rating of app (YUTUPro) is quite low, I didn't experience any problem when I used it.I shotted some photos and videos, during the daytime when I cycled. I also shotted a time lapse of the sunset by the pier. Overall the quality is really good and great value for money. I am happy with it.

15.3.2020

The camera does the job. I mostly use it for underwater diving and it does a job. I then use the app Dive+ that can filter adjust the colours to give beautiful pictures and videos with natural colours.Apeman has finally released a decent downloading app for all pictures and videos; the app is comparable to the GoPro one.Only drawback to me is battery life that is less than 1 hour. I have bought several spare batteries for less than £20 to change in between dives and that does the job pretty well. The underwater housing works well.Great camera that does the job for a small price compared to a fully-fledged GoPro.

27.5.2020

I use the camera attached to my cycling helmet for when I'm out. The image is great quality, it picks up all the sounds even when you can't hear properly yourself due to wind noise. The accessories it comes with like the waterproof housing, and fitments are great and to top it all off the price was unbeleiveably low. I don't know why anyone would pay 4-5 times as much for a go pro. This camera does everything you need it to. I'd highly recommend it. Be nice to have a longer battery life but it just about lasted 2 hrs which is pretty good.

19.1.2020

I bought this for my wife as a Christmas present and i have to say i was very impressed with the quality of the item and the added extras and accessories which came along with it. The camera seems quite sturdy and robust and well manufactured and whilst we have just started experimenting with it, and are still vetting used to using it we are very pleased with the results thus far and look forward to using it on an upcoming holiday. The goods came extremely well packaged and arrived in very good time. Highly recommended.

29.5.2020

Bought this camera to capture my daughter as she grows up doing mountain biking. I have been really impressed with the videos about this product and when it arrived it didn’t disappoint. I’ve installed a 128gb sd card and as an added bonus I am using it as a dash cam. It’s great that this camera can be used for multiple uses as well as just not for sport. Looking forward to using it more. Great feature is the ability to flip the image upside down when mountain on a chest strap for mountain biking. I definitely recommend

Brought this action camera to take with us on our travels. No photography or video experts but knew we didn’t want to pay GoPro prices. We’ve used this action camera attached to our bike and during country walks to practice with and very happy with the footage. Although it isn’t touch screen, the button functions are easy to use and navigate.Found it easy to download the app and transfer videos and photos to our iPad.Very happy with the apeman trawo and looking forward to using it in our pending travel journeys.
