As title says, I was very sceptical about this action camera. It’s one of them items that seems to be too cheap for what it is offering (in comparison with the GoPros competitor at £350+).After the many reviews I read it seems most of the negative ones were based around freezing / lagging or the 4k video not working at all. So I looked into this further and it seemed most of these were based on the ‘wrong’ micro SD card inserted. Now I did already have one of these ‘wrong’ SD cards so I bought the camera and tested it with my 16GB micro SD (which wasn’t category 10 rated). As I suspected the 4k, 2k and 1080p (60fps) video didn’t work, in fact I couldn’t even select it,the low quality videos worked and the pictures but none of the said worked and even the EZicam app you can install didn’t work to its full potential. So following the findings above, I bought the 32GB Micro SD car Sandisc cat 10 which arrived the next day. I inserted this card and everything now worked, perfect, no lagging issues could select all modes, so far so good. Now before I went on my walk I wanted to see how I could mount it on me with one of the many mounts supplied in the box, however when you’re not great at DIY like me, I wasn’t quite sure what I was meant to be doing with any of them. After about 5 mins I managed to put a couple of these mounts together and then just clip it on to my jacket. The Camera also comes with a remote and some Velcro attachments, so I put the remote on my wrist like a watch. So I finally put the camera to the test (recording/taking photos via the remote on my wrist which didn’t need any set up and worked very well), I took it out for over an hour walk taking pictures, videos in different quality levels, light levels etc until the battery finally died. It took roughly an hour I would say in constant use for the battery to die, however you are given two batteries with this camera and you also can charge it whilst in use, so if you have a portable charger it’s not too much of a problem. After transferring the pictures and videos from my camera to my phone through the EZicam app which isn’t the best app, actually it’s a terrible app, however it does transfer the files to my phone which is all I really wanted and needed it for. I was worried at first as when I looked at a couple of videos via the app, the audio was awful, however when you watch it on your phone it is all fine!So after looking at the videos and pictures on my phone I could tell the photo quality even on the small screen on my phone wasn’t great however the videos seemed to be really good. I then transferred these onto my PC and as suspected the photo quality was poor, OKish in a well-lit place in the open, and terrible in dark places. This is definitely not a 12MP camera, if I was to guess I would say it would be a 3MP max, I’m not quite sure how they can get away with advertising 12MP, I think they must upscale the picture. However saying this some of the pictures were OK, but If you have bought a mobile phone within the last 3-4 years your photo quality will almost definitely exceed the action cam one.In better news, the videos were good, they are all recorded as “.Mov” files, which is annoying as it’s not the best format and not supported by all, however I was pleasantly surprised by the quality for the price I paid, again the 4k isn’t 4k but it is decent and I wouldn’t say there is a massive difference between the 1080p(60fps) to the 4k so for the extra memory I will now just use the 1080p, unless I have a very short clip I want in the very best quality I can get. You get around 3 hours of recording space on the 32GB micro SD with the 1080p, again FYI the audio doesn’t work over whatsapp if you were to send videos via there, but do work if you view on your phone gallery. The Actioncam its self is small and light, and built ok, I wouldn’t think it is the sturdiest of cameras and would be worried about dropping it if it didn’t have a case. However, when the waterproof case is on it (which I have yet to test in water) it seems more solid and compact.Generally speaking I am happy so far with my purchase, however it only has been couple of days and will update my review in a few months.Summary:Overall very good, photo quality is poor, video quality is good and audio is good. You need to ensure you have a cat10 32gb or LESS micro SD card to use the camera, the app which you can download to transfer your files is very poor but you can just use the micro SD directly (quicker also). Not the most user friendly at start and there are always little issues you seem to come across, but easy to pick up, comes with lots of mounts etc, but no instructions and how or where to use.For someone like me who is just going to use it occasionally well worth the money.

Edited Review..... I received a replacement camera as the previous camera was faulty. Customer service was excellent and I received a replacement at my house within 2 days. The only fault I had with this camera was the audio as the video, build quality and accessories were already superb and far superior to my Go Pro as you'll see in my original review below. Now that's true for the audio as well. Audio quality is by far better than my Go Pro indoors, outdoors and at a distance. I use this camera to a professional level in numerous settings. It's just as good for an interview as it is strapped to a vehicle or used as a family camera.Further to my original review as I've used it for a while now I can highlight some more pro's.Charging this is a dream as it comes with two batteries. It's quicker to charge than it is at draining a battery so you'll always have one ready. It comes with a charger with two battery slots but you can also plug the camera in while you are still using it to charge continuously.Rear screen. The screen makes it so simple to navigate menu's, and it's bright and clear. I've lost count of the amount of times I've deleted footage from my Go Pro by accident because of the awful menu system. With this camera you can watch playback and delete bad footage thus saving a ton of memory space.Accessories. You get tons ! Free with the camera. Replacements are also extremely cheap. Not that I needed them, but I'm nosey so I googled them. You can do everything with this camera right out of the box.Remote with wrist strap. Brilliantly simple and it comes with the camera. Really robust and small enough that you don't look like a transformer. 2 buttons, start/stop recording, and take a picture, with a light that shows you when you are or aren't recording. Google the price for a remote for a Go Pro for a good laugh. The range of the remote is a lot further than stated and it still worked over 50 metres away from the camera.Phone app. Ios and Android. On the Go Pro the phone app is/was the bane of my life as it was the only way to interact with the camera remotely to any moderately successful degree, simply put if I didn't have my phone and spend eons waiting for it to connect wirelessly, I couldn't use my camera. The phone app with the Akaso is so much easier to navigate and to be honest the camera, remote, and rear screen are so user friendly, you'll hardly use it.It sounds like I'm bashing the Go Pro here but I'm not, my Go Pro is a good camera. But simply put my Akaso EK7000 is better by a mile. Even if they were the same price I'd choose the Akaso in every recording situation I've been in. It's easy to use and simply put, better than the market leader.Summary : Brilliant robust all round camera. Very worthwhile purchase.Original Review...The Akaso EK7000 is bitter sweet. If you want it purely for the video then it's amazing. So 5 out of 5 purely for the video side of things. If you want audio as well then it's simply unusable. I don't mean a bit bad, I mean the audio is completely distorted in and out of its case. 0 out of 5 for audio.Pro's :You get tons of accessories. (everything in the picture)Remote control comes with itVideo quality is fantastic. Both 1080p and 4k are awesomePhotos are great qualityHas a rear screen so you can playback your vids or check your shotsbattery life is pretty good (about 80 minutes @ 1080p)Very robust waterproof case with a spare door. You don't have to use software to convert the files before you export them like the leading brandsCons :Came with two batteries but one was faulty upon arrivalThe Audio is bad, I mean absolutely unusable, both in and out of the waterproof case. People have even made youtube videos tearing these down to put in their own microphones. Voices come out purely as distorted static both talking and shouting from a distance or close up. If you're in a car or on a bike it sounds like it's going to explode. Not great in low light.Summary : Purely as an action cam if you're going to edit it afterwards and add music it's amazing. Absolutely horrific audio so can't be used as a family cam or normal video camera.

I got this camera as a Christmas present this year - I'd never really thought about getting a sports/action camera before so it was a nice surprise for me. Straight away I was impressed by the amount of stuff that's included in the box - there's a wide variety of clips, attachments and mounts which I imagine can be used for various different things. I also liked the packaging as well, it felt solid and well designed and presents the product really nicely. The camera itself is really nice - I was worried that it would feel a bit cheap considering the price but the build quality feels quite robust, and the materials used in it's construction feel like they are good quality. The camera was relatively easy to set up - there was a slight wording issue in the instruction book that took a little but of figuring out but a bit of trial and error solved the problem without much fuss. There are a few various different settings you can adjust, such as the exposure, video quality and whether or not you want the date/time embedded in the video you take, but to be honest you could skip looking at those if you wanted as the camera works fine straight out of the box.In terms of usage it couldn't be simpler really - there's a power button, a shutter button and two buttons for cycling through the menu options, but for the most part it it really is just a point a click operation. This model is compatible with the companion app, which I would recommend trying as it allows you easier access to the various different features of the camera without having to scroll through all the menus. The only downside of using the app is that it pairs with the camera using a WIFI network rather than via Bluetooth, which means that you're unable to use the internet on your device whilst paired unless you have a data package available to you. The EK7000 also comes with a remote, which I haven't had the chance to trial yet, but it appears to just be a start/stop filming button that comes with a strap, presumably to mount to your arm or wrist. As far as performance goes I've been pretty happy with what the cameras been able to do. I've never used a GoPro or anything like that before so am unable to compare the two, but the video quality that the EK7000 captures is nice and sharp, and the audio clarity is not bad at all, given that the microphone on the camera is so small. It does have a slight fisheye effect on the video that is caused by the 170 degrees lens, so if that bothers you bear that in mind. The performance in low light is not amazing, to be honest, and I have found quite a lot of visual noise appearing in the video when using the camera in dimly lit environments. The battery life is pretty good - I was using a 32GB sd card in mine and I was able to fill it completely before the battery gave out, so that was probably around 3-4 hours of video. It came with a second battery in the box as well which is a good thing.Pros:- Great value- Easy to use- Decent quality video and audio capture- Comes with plenty of accessoriesCons:- Struggles in low light a bit.Overall, I would definitely recommend this camera for anyone who is looking for an entry level action camera that doesn't require too much setup. You won't be disappointed with the amount of accessories that come with it and for the price you pay the video quality is great. I really like the pairing ability with the app and the simplicity of the use - at my new years ever party I just left the camera out for people to pick up and use and everyone had a really positive reaction to it.

I bought this as a cheaper alternative to a GoPro, there are some even cheaper GoPro rip-off cameras but I didn't want to cheap out too much. I'm glad I picked this one as the 4K footage still looks good without having spent anywhere near as much as a genuine GoPro.The camera comes with all kinds of fittings and mounts for bikes, car dashboards, helmet camera mounts and more. It also comes with a remote clicker allowing you to start/stop the video and take photos from a distance and a spare battery. This is good because each battery can only record for 90 minutes each, so had it only come with one battery this would be a pathetic battery life.At any video resolution, the colours are accurate, the sky looks accurately blue. In the video I took the sea looks a little green (which could be seen as colour inaccuracy), but this is correct as the sea where I live is quite shallow and the windy day meant that the sand was washed around, making the sea appear green. I was quite impressed with the colour accuracy when set to 'auto'.The 4K footage is at 24/25fps, this doesn't make the smoothest video and is more suited to film than action shots. The video is okay but in some places there are compression artefacts, so don't expect perfectly crisp video at 4K.I personally think the '2.5K' footage looks better than the 4K footage, firstly it is at 30fps so looks much smoother, but there are also fewer compression artefacts, so despite running at a lower resolution the video actually ends up looking shaper! The 1080p 60fps footage is my favourite for action shots as it is at 60fps. This produces silky smooth footage while not compromising too much on quality. The image obviously isn't as sharp as 2.5K or 4K but is still quite good. I couldn't really see the point of 1080p 30fps recording when there is a 60fps option as the smoother 60fps recordings look far better. The camera is capable of recording at 120fps, which once slowed down 4x becomes 30fps slow-motion video. This looks smooth even slowed down, but the video quality is seriously reduced. The slow-motion effects are probably better from an iPhone than this camera.I think photos come out looking quite good for a 12MP camera. The camera is WiFi connected and an app called 'iSmart DV' can be used (iOS or Android only), press the 'Down' button on the camera to switch on the WiFi and on your smartphone connect to the WiFi hotspot named 'iCam-H9R_XXXXXX' with password '1234567890'. Once connected open the iSmart DV app. If you find that the camera doesn't connect properly it helps for me to switch my phone into Aeroplane mode, then switch the WiFi on (while leaving Aeroplane mode on) and connecting after this. This app allows you to see the camera's view on your phone and start/stop video and take photos. It also allows you to download recorded video and photos from the camera to your phone if you don't have a MicroSD Card reader on hand.Overall I'm quite pleased with this camera's performance. I was quite critical about the 4K video performance in my review but that was only being fussy and comparing it to a vastly more expensive GoPro branded action camera - if I consider the footage independently and relative to the £62 price it's rather good! The camera seemed to consistently take good photo and video and the auto white-balance worked well and produced accurate colours.I'd recommend this if you wanted a GoPro but are on a budget, but obviously don't expect exactly the same performance from it.

I think it's worth getting this out of the way first: this is not on par with a current-model GoPro. If you expect that, I think you'll be sorely disappointed. However, that isn't the point of this camera and I think the price point makes that clear. So for the camera itself. I am definitely happy with the quality. Whilst the camera does do 4k, I tend to stick to 1080p at 60fps for 720p at 120fps. At 1080p you get a nice picture and 60fps means the footage is smooth and you can even grab frames for photos if you want to. The 720p @ 120fps is great if you want something in slow motion, it is prefect.Operation of the menu and camera itself is very straight forward, with only four buttons to navigate and select menu options, even in direct sunlight or underwater I have had no issues operating it. One thing that took me a while to get used to is that when the camera goes to sleep, you have to press the button once to wake it and then again to start filming. This caught me out a couple of times because waking it up plays a beep, I wrongly assumed that meant it had started filming. Again, not a massive issue, just something to remember.Battery life seems very good, I haven't yet been using the camera during one session long enough for them to run out, as the camera comes with two batteries I tend to swap them when convenient rather than when one runs down too low.I found that you can't tell whether the case is on or off, it doesn't really make a massive difference to the quality of the image. Possibly the colours are a little bit flatter but if they are, not enough to spoil the footage. It does however effect the audio, being that it is more muffled but I would expect this and it's not ruined, just not crystal clear.I have one slight comment about the case and that is that the plastic that makes up the lens seems extremely soft. I unfortunately dropped the camera from about 50cm and even though it didn't land directly on the case lens, it bounced onto it and there's now a deep scratch. Luckily, it's out of the vision of the camera lens so it doesn't actually matter, but something to bear in mind. I think I might see if there's additional cases available. The accessories that come with the camera are great, there's almost everything you need to use the camera in any situation. Although I did also order one of those yellow, floating handles for surfing, coasteering and the like. Literally my only negative about the accessories is that the thumbscrew was so tightly screwed on, I had to use a pair of wrenches to loosen it initially! You can probably see from the photo, it was so tight the plastic had slightly deformed. I assume that they are tightened with a machine for speed and it was just slightly over tightened. Once I got it loose, no problems with the thread, it works perfectly.I bought this camera with the view that the footage would be "okay". I got more than that and I'm very happy wit the purchase, to the extent I am strongly considering purchasing a second. So overall, would I recommend this camera? Yes I would, with a couple of caveats:1) Don't expect professional grade footage, that just isn't fair at this price point2) This feels more like a "snapshot" quality camera, the kind of thing you might take with you phone's camera, but underwater. If it was for once-in-a-lifetime memories, I would be investing more money in a different camera. This is perfect for regular events.

Review price: £63Accessories and packagingWith the camera I received a waterproof case and a bunch of accessories, which are useful for the overall usability-factor of the camera.I like that you've got a lot of bundled extras - a nice touch! However, I would have liked to see an external battery charging holder within the packaging.I should note that the camera and the waterproof case comes with pre-applied screen protectors. I removed them all, as I didn't see the need of them being included. However, it comes with a great little carrying case, which is a a nice touch for travelling purposes. I also didn't understand why a US charger was included, when I'm in the UK.I should also mention that I love that there's a small remote, which allows you to quickly take a photo or video. This easy-to-use accessory is a good complimentary option to the camera's packaging.Build qualityThe build quality of the camera is really good and does remind me of a GoPro camera. On the bottom of the camera there's a battery compartment, which arguably is quite hard to get to with shortened nails. On the right side of the camera you'll find the Wi-Fi button and a "down" button, which allows you to scroll through options whilst using the camera (you'll need the app to access it).On the left side of the camera, you'll find a microUSB and miniHDMI input alongside a microSD card slot, where the camera will accept up to 32GB of space. As a note, you'll need a microSD card in order to use the device itself. Unfortunately, there's no microSD card included within the packaging. Despite cards being cheap, it would have been nice to have one included. At the top of the camera here's an "OK" button, which is used to record/take pictures and also be used within the camera's menu. There's also an on/off button found at the front of the camera, next to the lens.Overall the build quality of the camera is good.Recording qualityI was reasonably impressed with the overall recording quality of the camera - I sure don't expect the image to be crystal clear, however compared to other (cheaper) cameras and the size of the camera, I was left satisfied and felt that my short videos were great to look at. However, at its price, I wish the photos were a little better than the cheaper alternatives. The camera can record 4K at 25fps, 2K at 30fps, 1080P at 60- and 30fps. You'll be able to find its full specs on the Amazon listing. I am disappointed that it doesn't do 720p at 120fps, but that's a not a huge deal for me personally.I found the overall quality to be good, but found the picture quality to be sub-par. However, in comparison to the cameras, I feel you're paying double the price only for 2 and 4K support. If you're not too interested in 4K, like myself, then I would save yourself the money and get the 1080p version. Conclusion:I was happy with the overall presentation of the camera. I would have liked to have an additional battery charger included within the packaging, but the overall end-result was great nevertheless. Given its price of £63 - it's one of the cheapest 4K action cameras you'll come across. If however you're not into 4K, then I would suggest looking at other cameras out there, which are cheaper and provide better picture quality.I would definitely suggest it as a cheap GoPro. I don't feel it really can dethrone a GoPros recording quality, but does provide as a good alternative!

This is my first action-cam, which I picked for capturing my flying lessons following recommendations from aviation forums. Camera serves its primary functionality to all 5 stars by clear picture quality, automatic light exposure, and loud enough voice capture even while mounted on my baseball cap's bill. Remote start/stop controller is invaluable device too while being in the middle of actions requiring any serous focus. After trying it during flying lessons for couple of times, I started to invent other usages, like making virtual guided tours to my house and garden, or capturing my piano plays. It proved surprisingly good on stabilizing video image considering the great amount of shaking and vibrations in all those activities. Now,about the disadvantages causing me to assign 4 stars rating: While the camera is immaculate about its primary functionality, some other auxiliary functions, by which it's supposed to show off, are not operating very well, being either not developed enough or basically glitchy. So much touted WiFi functionality proved to be not practical, as there's simply no Android app supporting it seamlessly. Neither native Akaso's nor recommended in the manual iSmartDV app can make stable connections for file transfers, speed and latency of the connection is surprisingly poor even on next-to-each-other distance, and iSmartDV in general doesn't support it at all by the author claiming in Google Store that it even wasn't supposed to. Also, it proved to be impossible to keep mobile phone connected to outside internet while connecting to the camera. In the end, I discovered much better old-good way of connecting it by micro-USB cable and ditch the WiFi function as not really practical.Another issue is about practicality of 4K highest resolutions: it needs some longer explanation why. The camera encodes surprisingly large files (which later could be re-comressed later on computer by four times smaller with equal quality and resolution). I don't really need high resolutions (capturing at lowest available is good enough) and I mainly use 5-min lapse video mode while exercising my actions. Even then, each capture segment weighs of about 1Gb. This all would not be a problem if the underlying SD card format would not be FAT system having design limit for 2Gb files. That means, any 10+ min video on lower resolution or even same 5 min segment on just the next resolution won't fit 2Gb limit, so I've already seen people complaining that parts of their recordings silently lost because of that. I wonder how short would be the video in 4K format while suiting the 2Gb limit? I haven't tried inserting SD cards formatted by Windows using modern NTFS system, however, I know that the camera can only format it in FAT and the manual strictly instruct to format SD card by the camera itself before the first usage. To me, it implied that NTFS isn't supported and dreadful 2Gb limit is still in place. Both the CONs are firmware-dependent disadvantages, hence could be fixed in future by firmware update. Should it finally happen, the camera will deserve truly 5 star rating and I'm eagerly waiting for the updates.

I have already bought these type of sports cameras and they are brilliant for my sport activities. I have used this action camera for riding bike and this was an excellent experience. This is for security purposes because if you are riding a bike in the London you got to have a camera on your head so that it could capture all the incidents and anything which can save your life physically and financially.Box included, 1x AKASO EK7000 Camera, 1x 2.4G Remote Control, 2x 1050mAh Battery, 1x Waterproof Case, 1x Bicycle Stand, 7x Mount, 2x Clip, 1x Helmet Mounts, 1x Bandages, 5x Tethers, 1 x Protective Backdoor, 1x USB Cable, 1x Lens Cloth & 1x Manual. I love the fact that it comes with spare battery which is very rare. With bicycle bracket,it can be attached to your bike’s handle too and with helmet mounting kit, you can stick it to your helmet without any problem. I am using it on my helmet because it is more convenient to capture everything with the movement of your head. Additionally, with different support switches, you can use it anywhere, e.g. on selfie stick. It can also be attached to your trouser, jacket or on your belt with the help of back clip. The beauty of this product is that it comes with a remote which is really great feature for this product and my favorite one. You can record and stop via remote by just clicking one button. Even you can switch from video to photo burst with just one click which is great.it supports 4K video which is really amazing and remarkable. If you want to enjoy 4K video, then you must have 32GB or 64GB TF card so that you could save as many videos as you want otherwise you have to delete them after couple of days in order to save more. It depends how much you are using it, I am using it on daily basis so therefore I have to clean my card after every 3 to 4 days.It has 12 mega pixel cameras which is really amazing and I loved it, it also provides different photography options. I liked the fact that it has HDMI HD output function which is really great and gives freedom to play it on your any device which support HDMI HD option. I loved that it comes with the waterproof plastic cover which is really good quality. You can open it and take the camera out for recharging or for transferring the data. It’s cover has buttons so you don’t have to take the camera out to operate it. It has switch on button on the front, two up and down buttons at the side and then charging connector and SD card slot.I found really unique feature in this camera that it supports wifi and you can connect it with you mobile and you can play the video on your mobile which is really cool feature I believe. Also, it has really wide angle about 170 degrees which is again really good and covers a decent area in front of you. The only downside of this product is that when you ride and it is inside the plastic cover, mic does not really pick up clear voice, it is still understandable but slightly weak voice. Overall this product is really good and I would not hesitate in recommending this item to anyone.

I'll set the scene. It was a bits weekend away... I say boys, more middle aged men still trying to cling on to any semblance of our youth! There was mountain biking, kayaking and surfing planned, amongst the usual shenanigans! This is a yearly quest and only last year my friend invested in a top of a, range Go Pro complete with underwater casing... A fair few quid! However our excitement at being able to produce a 'Point Break 2' (kids ask your parents), where I was clearly going to be Patrick Swayze amongst my rotund, man boobed friends ended in disaster with the first wave knocking the Go Pro out of my friend's hands.... Never to be seen again (well actually probably in a pawn shop in Newquay).Tears were a plenty (laughter obviously), but it was indeed a lesson...... Fast forward to this year's jolly and I announced I was bringing my own action camera by Asako (more laughing) and at £35 even I thought I may have been diddles. You know those pics of the small cameras, but when it actually arrives its the size of a Warburtons loaf.I ordered the accessory kit as well, and when it all arrived I instantly went into smug mode. Here was a small camera, of what looked like excellent quality (including the packaging) with every mount possible you could throw at it! If you wanted to strap this to a head of a cat (I would just like to point out to PETA that is not my intent....) then there is a mount there that will enable you to do it!It even comes supplied with a waterproof housing... For £35!!A few hours later it had its innaugral testing in the 5ft waves at Harlyn Bay. I had taken the abuse, but was confident in the little cams ability. It was in its housing and attached to a bright yellow "floating" handle and wrist strap. The mockers were now showing a bit of interest! The first wave almost killed me, as I was setting up the camera. Didn't see it. I can only liken the experience to what it must be like to be trapped in a washing machine. I was thoroughly expecting to see condensation and water in the casing... But it was bone dry and still recording! I then continued to take video after video and photo after photo on its excellent battery (you get 2!!) and after playing them back on the TV in the bijou caravan that night everyone was taken aback at the quality. The photos look great, and the image quality of the video is even better! There was no mocking then... Only a reaching of phones to place their own order!Seriously you would spend more money on a decent takeaway so this is a no brainer.Yes, the stabilisation when on a bike (there was a mount for that too) is probably better on a Go Pro... But this is £35, and possibly one of the best purchases I have ever made!(No cats have been harmed since the camera arrived, although the Guinea pig cam was a success... There is a Guinea pig mount included)

I've quite fancied a Go Pro camera for quite some time but I've always found the cost to be prohibitive. I researched Go Pro alternatives and I couldn't quite find the sweet spot I was looking for... you generally get what you pay for. However, this camera ticks all the boxes, but with some caveats. The positive:Incredible value for money. You get a LOT here for your cash, including a bunch of go-pro compatible accessories to allow you to mount your camera on a tripod, a cycle helmet, your bike frame, you name it. You get an underwater housing kit as well. The device has been made to copy the look and feel of a real Go Pro so if you already have a Go Pro this is a ridiculously cheap way to get some more accessories for it.And you also get a camera!Speaking of the camera, it's small and light, just like a real Go Pro. The battery life is pretty reasonable, plus you get two batteries out of the box, plus a charger.Image quality is really good. It defaults to 1080p 60fps video - and I recommend you use the camera in this mode. The quality is great. Is it as good as a real Go Pro? Possibly not. But in 1080P mode it's about 95% there for a fraction of the price. You also get a wrist-strap that lets you start/stop recording without having to press a button on the camera. Finally, the camera has Wifi so you can view videos on the device using your mobile phone. The negative:There are 2 major negatives with this camera.1) It's not an actual 4K camera. Yes, it claims to be, and there's a big 4K sticker written on the camera but it's actually a 1080P camera that upscales to 4k. This means you're just pointlessly making the video files much bigger than they need to be, and you lose the 60fps option too. Also, the camera reportedly overheats in 4k mode. One final reason not to use 4k is the fact that the camera uses the Motion Jpeg codec rather than the superior h.264 codec and, to cut out the technicalities for a moment, that's not good. Stick to 1080P 60fps and you have a great camera.2) The sound. In the waterproof case the sound is almost unusable, and out of the case it's not brilliant. It's usable though, but if you want decent audio then use an external audio device. Conclusion:Even despite the camera's faults, this is still an absolute bargain. If you're buying this for your kids, or yourself, and if you're a casual user then this is a no-brainer. Buy it. It's great value for money. If you're a pro, or you want the best, buy a Go Pro. Go Pros have real 4K resolution as well as a near-Raw video style capture and will probably give you less hassle overall. But just ask yourself - is one Go Pro worth three of these?

I have never had a GoPro so I don't know how this compares with the very expensive brand.Putting this aside, I can say that this camera is good.It comes with a bunch of extras that allow you to set it up as you wish in order to capture the videos you want. The built of those extras is of good quality, they seem strong and stiff enough to perform well. The kit also includes a remote control which works very well, without the need of WiFi or Bluetooth. This makes it very versatile and it even has a strap to mount it on your arm for quick access. The camera itself appears to be shape-compatible with the GoPro 3/4/5, which means all the accessories are compatible too.In terms of its performance, the 4K only works at 25FPS but this is clearly the spec, and I have to warn people who never had a camera like this, given the fast paced nature of the videos you will record, 25FPS is not really cutting it. So you will find yourself shooting at 60FPS (1080p), even at 120FPS (720p). I sometimes think it's better to sacrifice quality to avoid the blur motion effect. In terms of the sensor, the camera works great in daylight but struggles in the dark with the picture quality quickly becoming grainy. Dynamic range is not perfect but it is ok.The white balance can be tripped off and a green hue may appear but only if a lot of colour (orange/reds) are in the frame. The lens does produce a lot of spherical aberration. Again, I do not know how this compares with a GoPro, I sure hope for the price difference the GoPro does a better job. Clearly with a 170degree field of view some aberration was expected, but 1/4 away from the image centre straight lines are gone. Outside this is not so much of an issue, but indoors shots are very badly distorted. Again, I presume all cameras of this type at this price range to suffer from this, and only hope the GoPro is better (but would not count on it).In terms of controls, the camera likes to reset to 1080p 60FPS everytime you turn it off, and that can be annoying. Other than that the camera controls are ok.The app for the phone is basic, it works and allows you to control the camera fairly well. Only problem is when you download files the app only saves them in internal memory, and there is no option to chose location (sd card) to avoid that. You can leave feedback with the app makers. Is it worth £60? I don't know. Given there are other similar kits for less than that, I hope this one is a bit better. But the support looks good and the fact that you get more kit when you review it is also a benefit. So overall quite pleased.

The AKASO EK7000 4K Sport Action Camera is an inexpensive camera in the style of a GoPro. It's great value, but don't kid yourself you are looking at a GoPro clone - you're not. It's superb value for the money, and for less than £60 it's worth a punt if you need a backup. My sports are scuba diving and road cycling. I already have a GoPro Hero4, which is a great camera, but I wanted a backup. For diving, the EK7000 will point back at me and my buddy whilst we dive; on the bike, it will point backwards from the saddle to give a rear view. I have no doubt it will be fine for these tasks.Having tried the camera out, I found the 1080/60 setting to be the sharpest of the options available.Image quality is good, and nice smooth moves worked really well. The sensor picked out detail both indoors and out, and colours were pretty realistic. The 2k7 images were OK, but didn't seem any sharper. This lead me to wonder whether some upscaling was going on inside the camera. 4k was big, but not really so sharp - what do you expect for the money? You're hardly likely to buy all the editing gear for 4k and then use a cheap camera, after all.The menu system on the camera offers basic control. There are a reasonable number of settings, but these are limited in scope; this isn't a bad thing and reduces complexity for non-technical users. Just don't expect Protune or similar. The Android App is pretty good, and allows control and preview remotely. The bundled remote is a handy tool, allowing simple control. Be aware it's only splashproof. The camera comes with many mounts, straps, tethers and so on, giving a lot of versatility for first time users. The bike mount is comical, use it at your peril, but there are many useful items and they are compatible with the GoPro mount system. I liked the clip to attach the open frame to a strap - that looks like a useful one. Just always use a separate tether - you will not notice a missing camera until it's too late. I know - another of my GoPros is somewhere in the Med.So, don't expect the world, but fantastic value for £57.EDIT: I just came back from scuba diving, where I took the EK7000 and my GoPro with me on every dive, down to 30m. The Akaso worked really well, providing a great backup. It suffered from not having the red filter I fitted to the GoPro, but the video was fine. It performed equally well on the bike I rented, providing some great downhill action.

I have always wanted an action camera, however wasn't sure which one to get. I nearly went for a Go-Pro, however, the price tag on them can be disconcerting to say the least. Having discovered the AKASO EK7000, I was astonished at the 4K resolution, for such a good price, with similar quality to a Go-Pro, for a fraction of the price. The camera arrives with a multitude of different mounts and brackets, as well as a plastic protective casing. The camera is fairly easy to operate, both with the casing on or off, however, I utilised YouTube to help with this, simply searching the camera make and model and there were helpful videos explaining how to operate the camera and an explanation of the mounts and brackets included.Having recently gone skiing, the camera provided a unique angle to capture memories for the holiday. I used the camera with a chest mount (sold separately), which recorded some great video footage of not only myself skiing, but other people on the trip. The camera is easily detachable from mounts, whilst remaining sturdy and in place when bracketed on. I didn't use the photo mode on the camera, as I bought the camera for videoing and take photos using my phone instead, so am unable to discuss this.Looking back at the video footage, the quality is amazing. It definitely brought a unique angle to record and make memories on the holiday.I used a 32GB Micro SD Card (sold separately), which gave approximately 1 hour and 8 minutes recording time. It is difficult to talk about the battery life, as the first time I used the camera was when skiing, in cold temperatures. Cold temperature has an effect on Lithium Ion batteries, so it would be unfair to discuss battery life. However, the camera has two batteries included, as well as a handy small charger, so if need be, a battery can be replaced or charged with a portable batter charger (sold separately), whilst out and about.I found however, that I only turned the camera on when I wanted to use it, in order to save battery and footage and it lasted the time we were skiing. After skiing, I would simply charge the batteries at the hotel and transferred the footage from the 32GB Micro SD Card (sold separately) off of the camera to a computer. In conclusion, I definitely recommend this camera, for both the price and the quality of footage.

Purchased this to take on a family holiday where I was expecting to be in the water and if it got broken or stolen I would not have been too upset based on the cost.I did not have high hopes based on the price, however I was very surprised by the quality of both the video and the photos. You do not have a zoom but all I wanted was to be able to capture reasonable images and videos with something I could stick in my pocket. This more than exceeded expectations overall.Battery life was not an issue for me but I was only taking short videos (In sea, on boats, tree surfing etc) and never got concerned, the spare battery out of the box did not charge but after a couple of goes worked and was fine.Took me a little while to use the connection from my phone but once i realised it was as simple as turn on the wifi on the camera, connect to it on your phone (you need the app), default password for me was 1234567890, then I was easily able to download pictures and videos to my phone and upload to whatsapp/facebook etc after i reconnected to a different wifiAccessories were good for swimming etc, have yet to use on bike etc, I have also just purchased an accessories pack for head straps and sticks, I am not normally bothered by getting lots of pictures and videos but I felt this was non obtrusive to carry around and did a good enough job. Once I saw the 4k quality on your PC and not just the screen on the unit I was impressed. Not the easiest gadget I have used but after a bit of trial and error it was soon easy to use. I would recommend spending time learning switching between video (default) to camera and learning how to get media onto your phone before you go on holiday if you are getting one just for a tripI have nothing bad to say about it other than it did take a bit of getting used too, I found the user guide not particularly helpful but started me offI will use it again and family enjoyed messing about with it tooI have a uploaded on picture and a short video taken just holding the cameraOverall if you are thinking of getting one and do not want to spend the earth I would recommend this product (and I paid the full amount for it)Updated: Noticed the video quality is dreadful on this site, the actual quality on playback on your own PC or phone is excellent

This is a good versatile camera, I have used it in UK mounted when cycling, used in Egypt Snorkelling, Water parks and in the desert.Overall A good quality camera for a very reasonable price. The camera is compact with sharp colours, multiple mounts are proved by the supplier and a handy wrist attachment can be used to record when the camera is mounted on your head or away from reach, only issue is the time stamp resets once the battery is removed.Colours and lighting:-Recorded in 1080p and 4k and the quality was exceptional and still photos came out very sharp too.The colours are sharp with the camera detecting differing light conditions underwater and above water. When going through aqua park slides which are pitch black to the naked eye, the camera is can detect light (and people) and records well.Works well indoors but better when natural light is available and when outdoors.Wide angle camera works well, but to get quality close shots, such as marine life, you have to get close to subjects, otherwise human shots are good with colours and capacity good.Capacity:-The camera does not come with a micro memory card. The capacity states 64gb, but I used SanDisk Extreme PRO 128G GB microSDXC Memory Card up to 100 MB/s, Class 10, U3, V30, A1. This worked very well. The memory card used makes a big impact on the write ability of the camera. Cheaper cards may not write fast enough resulting in still type shots as opposed to continues frames and picture.Playback is very good, this is done on the camera or App for the phone.Sound:-Sound is very good and clear. The waterproof case did not hinder the sound quality.Other items:-Two batteries provided are very handy.Lots of attachments, making connecting this very easy with online videos providing good guides.Potential Issues:-The time stamp is reset once the battery is taken out of the camera to charge in the provided cradle or when replacing the battery, the time stamp requires reconfiguration in the settings menu prior to use.The camera is not waterproof unless used in the supplied case, which isn’t a problem and all mounts require the case.Recording for long lengths of time in the desert make the camera warm when in the case (probably understandable).
