There are not so many large twin walled containers that have the traditional glass liner on Amazon and it amazes me that people become obsessed with how long their water will remain hot whilst seeming not to consider what that water will taste like after several hours in contact with metal - albeit stainless steel. Steel pans work great for cooking over relatively short durations but IMHO there are only two materials which are suitable for storing water/wine/beer etc over a few hours, namely glass and porcelain/ceramic. I've not got the most discerning palate but I can without doubt detect that the hot water we use out of our steel lined thermos does not taste the same as when it went in several hours earlier. There are times obviously when steel is the only option as glass is quite fragile although saying that it is possible to get steel containers which have a layer of ceramic bonded onto their surface. I have not seen this technique used for a 'thermos' type flask but I have an insulated steel mug with a ceramic coating and also an electric mug, again ceramic on steel which you charge up and which will then keep your coffee hot for an hour+. Both of these came from Amazon USA and were not cheap. It was with some trepidation that I opened the large box that Amazon delivered here a couple of hours ago and to be fair there must have been some kind of instruction to take care with the packaging. I would score the resulting packing as 7/10 as three sides of the Thermos box were well cushioned with lots of the usual brown paper but for some reason the packer ignored the fourth side which ended up in direct contact with the outer box. It was now over to me however and I carefully lifted the box up and slid the flask out and yippee - it was intact !I have not even tried the thing yet but after reading so many detailed reviews (Amazon really is good for things like this) I am confident it will do what we want which is to keep us in hot drinks on a long car journey up to Scotland which used to take 5 hours but now will take 6 or 7 as we will have two longish stops to recharge the newish electric car. We also want to avoid spending much time buying stuff like coffee in motorway services as they strike me as a sort of ideal vector for a virus wishing to go forth and multiply. It is the first time for 18 months that we are making this journey (which we have done many times) and I am quite looking forward to the novelty of it and will have to turn a small area of the boot into a tea and coffee point with the flask as star attraction. The only other point I wish to make is the dimensions which I could not find - these are: H41cm H with lever up 48cm Dia 16cm.Thanks also for the advice received here to fill with boiling water and make drinks on demand rather than use pre-made coffee.

With regard to other reviewers experiences of the Thermos arriving already shattered -- I'm sure this happens, but on this occasion the Thermos arrived perfectly, and was very well (and spaciously) packaged. Amazon's customer service has in my experience generally been of a very high quality, and I would trust other customers' reviews that in the event that this does arrive already broken that Amazon will speedily dispatch a replacement. The Thermos itself: the pump action is satisfying and smooth (compare this to the push button operation of the smaller capacity models and it's a clear winner) and the swivel mechanism makes it very useful as a desktop accompaniment..Construction quality is very sturdy, like all Thermos products, and both the height of the dispenser and its capacity are impressive. For those concerned about BPA(that includes me), you can rely on Thermos' commitment not to use plastics containing it.As for the all-important heat retention: I'm currently drinking coffee that was brewed a full 24 hours ago: it's still warm, actually verging on hot, and is actually at the temperature that I prefer. I wouldn't recommend (for hygiene reasons) keeping hot beverages for longer than that, but it's convenient to know that the model has no problem holding heat for a whole day.I actually bought this just for myself: I drink 3-4 cups of coffee a day (~800ml -1litre), so this should hold enough coffee, at one time, to keep me happily caffeinated for two whole days, though more than likely this fairly gigantic unit will attract the attention of my co-workers for whom I'll be only too happy to offer some coffee! If coffee's not your thing this would make a nice dispensing unit for tea, soup, or - I believe - cold beer.Overall, I was extremely satisfied with this product and would unhesitatingly recommend.

Had this nearly a whole week now, having read all the reviews as you do, and are very impressed.Have found it keeps water hotter than any top rated flask we have had to date which includes the 1.8 litre jobs. There is no doubt in my opinion that the glass liner flasks do keep water hotter than aluminium units do, having tested many by taking the temperature readings over differing periods.Prior to testing we held Utitlity room temp at a steady 15.9c. Flask was then pre-heated with 100c water for five minutes.I used the DIGIFLEX Digital LCD Food Thermometer Cooking Probe which I also bough from Amazon recently - its a great tool too!1st test with flask full and not used:Hrs passed | Temp0 - - -- - - 98.8c5 - - - - - - 89.810 - - - - - 82.112 - - - - - 78.520 - - - - - 69.724 - - - - - 65.72nd test will hopefully give some real life idea of water temp to be expected with water drawn.0 - - - - - - 99.4cat 2 hours into test, 2 cups of water are drawn.5 - - - - - - 88at 9 hours into test, 2 cups of water are drawn - leaving 4 cups remaining in flask.10 - - - - - 79.120 - - - - - 60.624 - - - - - 55.6The pump is great, as is the build of the unit, but i guess we will have to wait and see how it performs over time.I'll give an update, if possible, in 3 month or so time.Worth the money and less expensive than many top flasks although i=this is on the large size and not suitable for the backpack. The rotating base is very easy and pleasing to use and the carry hanlde is a comfortable.Like others, we have been using this for hot water storage.Take advantage of the PV solar panels during the day, by boiling lots of water thus making efficient use of that free power and reducing our power bill at night by using the stored hot water instead of having to put the kettle on.Hope the above helps

I got this through Super Saver Delivery and it arrived in 2 days time. It was £[...] (sale price) so I it was a good deal.I previously had a 1.9 litre thermos flask but I dropped it and it gained an annoying looking dent so that's why I replaced it.The lever action on the flask makes it easy for anyone to fill up a mug with hot coffee/tea or cold soft drinks/squash. The flask having 2.5 litre capacity means that it is massive. Very big and it will be a struggle to put in any backpack. I was unhappy with this fact because I wanted it for travel. It belongs in a kitchen or on a tabletop for meetings and family use. It's not for personal use and putting in a backpack. There is a 1.9 litre version of this lever pump flask on Argos or Amazon (sold out on Amazon when I first checked though.) Apart from that it is excellent for home use. You can trust Thermos to keep your drinks hot or cold for a working day.

I use this as a way of keeping people out of the kitchen in our church rooms, they had a tendency to wander in and make tea using the kettle which when we are moving around with hot dishes from the oven isn't always safe.So fill this up and put it on a table in the function room means problem solved. This flask is glass and does say that it is intended for table top use, in this it has a swivel base which turns really easily, the lever action gives a good mug full on each push and is easy to control.I will trust other review for how long it stays hot, after a couple of hours it's still hot enough that we use the remaining water in the washing up bowl and it is steaming lots.

These flasks are great quality but Amazon really must sort out their packaging and marking to avoid the flask getting smashed in transit! Have ordered 6 so far and on 4 occasions they have arrived smashed to bits inside the flask. I now know to give the package a little shake on delivery and hand directly back to the courier if the tell tale rattle is present....... when they arrive intact they work really well - keep hot water and drinks piping for for 2-3 hours, much much better than the metal-lined equivalents. Pump very easy to remove and clean and the lever gives such an easy action, much better than the awful button-press types which never seem to work very well at all...

I bought 1 year ago this item for my parents that use it at the camping.Cold water remains cold for hours; the base can rotate 360° and it is very useful for who wants to serve himself.Other practical thing is the cover/pump, that you can remove completely (useful when you go to fill-in the thermos to the fountain and you don't know where to leave the cover). The only thing who has left me a bit worried is the chrome lever that is in plastic material and it flexes when you use it for serving I hope it will not break too early!

I have had 4 of these fabulous flasks over the last 10 years. A couple were accidentally broken! Hence so many! Great as I only drink hot water and coffee so I don't have to keep boiling the kettle! And I like my hot drinks! Plus I have disability with my arms so the lever is easy to use. Great idea for people living on their own! Bought one for an elderly friend Who had carers and it meant she was able to help herself to drinks inbetween their visits during the day and throughout the night! Great product!

14.1.2019

Got lever pump so it is easier for old people to use as it is easier to press down a lever rather than pressing down a button into the lid like many other models. The only downside so far is that the height between the dispenser and table level is a bit high so if the elder want to fill a mug then some water might splash around a bit, shouldn't be much of a issue if people are filling tall standing bottles. Could have included a small tube to attach to the nozzle to adjust dispensing height.

I ordered 4 of these flasks as I manage conferences and needed new ones. At 2.5L they hold plently and stay scalding hot for hours. They have an attractive steel finish and totally give the right impression to my clients. They arrived in only a few days and were packaged well. The only concern I have is that the pump action lever is silver coloured plastic and if a client was heavy handed it could snap. Apart from that I am very pleased with them.

I bought this as I like hot drinks throughout the day. It saves a lot of time and electricity boiling up the kettle umpteen times. One steady pump on the lever delivers a good mug ful of liquid. It certainly keeps the wayer hot enough for tea all day. I have no hesitation in recommending this big flask. When I bought it, it was cheaper than the smaller model! A great flask for the house though it may not travel well as the inner bit is glass.

Bought this for our office - we're not allowed to have kettles and our last flask broke after being dropped! We do have a couple of the cheaper 'steel only' versions, but they don't compare to this one for the length of time that the water stays hot. It's a really nice design and the lever is very easy to use and I've said, the water stays piping hot for hours - exactly what we wanted.Already considering buying another :)

Bought two of these Thermos Pumps for use in our Church, on the recomendation of a friend going to another Church They have proved to be just the job. Keeps water piping hot for hours and when we have a good gathering of people, it means that we're not carrying kettles of boiling water to refill the teapots. The size too is good in as much that they're not too heavy to handle. Very good buy, am happy to recoment them.

This pot has performed exactly as I had hoped by enabling me to fill with water at home, transport to our small day boat for teas & coffees. During hot days, I add ice cubes to allow us to drink cool water. Taking the price of bottled water I would have spent and the cost of the pot, after 15 uses it has paid for itself, as well as cutting out the need to recycle empty plastic bottles.

10.9.2013

I love this product for its sleek design as well as its function. It has come in very handy for kids parties and adults are able to help themselves to hot drinks on a table away from the kiddy action and enables mummies feet to not do too much running around everyone on such a busy day! It's hard work enough looking after the main event! now whilst you're at it, make me one ;) x
