Let's be frank here - you can pick up a cheap thermos these days from your local supermarket for peanuts. They don't even tend to be the plastic 80's style ones anymore (with the two cups in the lid, remember those?), and you can get something that looks quite smart and does the job for less.So why would you pay for the 'name' on the Stanley flask?Well, aside from the quite cool information on the label that these bottles have survived being run over by heavy machinery and have been used as emergency car jacks, it is a very good product. The label leaves you in no doubt that this is being marketed to men - especially rugged outdoor working type men who might need some hot coffee or soup during a cold day to keep their manliness levels up.However, I found that it served my purpose very well when I tested it out - we were off for a bank holiday weekend of camping, and knowing that arrival time and set up time were going to take us well past lunch, I opted to flask up some soup before we left. Even with traffic delays which meant we arrived later than I had planned, the soup inside was still piping hot, and on a chilly day was well received! It is quite a big beastie, so not so great for those with limited cupboard/storage space, and I doubt I would be taking a single lunch serving of soup to work in it, but for those weekends away - just the job.

In this internet and mobile devices age, everything seems to be computerised and has some LEDs, electric meters, the Wi-Fi connection and so on, but this bottle has nothing like that, and I love it, simply because it works best! You pour up to 1L of hot water, tea, coffee, soup or anything you like, then you go out, and open it at the lunch time or even later than that, your drink will be still hot. I remember from my childhood experience, despite the size and the weight, only a tiny bit of hot water could be put into vacuum bottles, but this one can hold up to 1L, which will be more than enough for 2-3 people to enjoy tea outdoor. OK, the colour might be a bit militaristic, but I like its retro image. The handle next to it and the whole design is quite old but nice, and it makes me smile. But if Stanley could create more variations in colours, such as dark blue or red for example, it might appeal to wider generations from all walks of life?Actually, I suddenly thought I don't know what happens if I put some icy cold drink in it - will it keep the cold temperature as well? Say if you go to Wimbledon or Lord's with this bottle with cold apple juice in it, will it still be cold a few hours later? I think I'll give it a try and will let you know.Anyway, I like it very much, and I hope you will too!

This is the 4th year I have had this flask, having had it with me pretty much every day on walks, out on my job as a Ranger and for overnight camping, I feel I can give this a good review.Firstly, the best thing I have found about it. If you put boiling water in it, and leave it sealed. 24 hours later it will still be warm enough for coffee. Sounds too good to be true doesn't it, considering we've tested this multiple times... It works. Even better. Boil water at the end of the day, by morning, still have hot water. Perfect for shoehorning yourself out of bed with.Cold water stays very cold. In fact, I put ice in, and got so annoyed at the ice clanking around in it, in my rucksack, all day.I topped up the water and the ice was still there, albeit a bit smaller, the next day! It's tough, I dropped it and ran over it off the tractor. Gave me a shaking, my tea was intact. Though I fear if I'd have gone over the cup it'd have been game over.Considering I paid for this to use on a Hedgelaying contract mid-winter, not expecting much but to hold the hot water I boiled off the fires at dinner, long enough for the warm up before the walk off. Now using it as a way to cook porridge the day after I filled it. That should say something about this.

I have read a lot of reviews on these flasks and I wanted to clear up a couple of issues I have noticedPeople are complaining about the handle being poorly attached one review even referred to the weld as "bird ddropping" however it's not a standard weld it's a spot weld as anyone with an ounce of knowledge would know. If it has a visible weld on the handles bracket it's a fake. The flask leaking after time. The flask has a Rubery seal which is removable. Ifor you put the cap through the dish washer a lot or don't clean properly it will deteriorate. Just look after it.Doesn't keep drink hot for long. If you have bought a Jenkins one then you are doing something seriously wrong with the flask to make this the case.I'm an engineer and work long hours I have the 2ltr version of this flask (I have also purchased the 1ltr version for my grandfather.) And I have in the past made coffee at 6am before and it has still been hot enough that I have to let it stand to cool down before drinking at 9pm the same day. Even though I'm opening it at regular intervals throughout the day.In summary the problems people are moaning about are either down to buying fakes or not looking after it. Best flask I've ever owned and I've gotten through dozens.

I've read reviews of this which muse about the classic feel or look of this thermos but I'm not much of a thermos affecado really. What I can say is that this is a great thermos, it keeps hot drinks not or cold drinks cold when full to capacity or half full or a quarter full as the case or need may be.The lid screws off and can serve as a cup, I am not sure what sets this apart from other thermos or makes it legendary in particular but it holds a good volume and keeps it at the desired temperature. The handle has a set of small metal connecting parts which can be fiddly and a nuisance but the aim of which is to permit a folding mechanism to operate and bring the handle in next to the body of the flask for storage. That is the only minor complaint I think it would be possible to have with this flask. It is much bigger than many of the smaller flasks available and so I would conclude it is intended for a picnic or similar market, you could easily fill this with sufficient liquid for it to provide drinks all day long if you are going to a spectator event or for more than one person if you are going to a gathering.

After reading some of the reviews of these flasks I have to say I'm puzzled in the extreme......... Reviewers seem to say that they're tatty, poorly made and don't work, which is anything BUT my experience. These flasks are the most robust, well put together, eminently practical and reliable flasks I've ever owned..........and I've owned several over the years and never noticed any drop in quality when production moved to China. And if there is a problem, Stanley have a no quibble returns policy..........added to which, spare stoppers and cups are readily availableunlike many other makes.Don't be put off by the odd bad review......I really don't know what motivated them but they're absolutely NOT my experience. You gets what you pays for as far as I'm concerned, and these cost a bit more but then they keep stuff twice as hot for three times as long and won't break while they're doing it. What more do you want? Maybe a whistle and bells? These flasks are the bee's doodahs and the dog's knees! You won't regret buying it!

I felt compelled to write a review of this flask. I have had it for about 6 weeks and have been using it daily. Yesterday I filled it at 10am having warmed it first for 5 minutes with hot water I then put 2 teabags in filled it with boiling water & left to brew without adding milk for 10 minutes sealed. I then added my milk & resealed. So over the course of the day I had 2 small cups of tea. The flask was left overnight in the van. I went out this afternoon with the dog for a walk and when I got back opened the flask to see if it was drinkable, expecting it to have cooled, low and behold a lovely warm cup of tea poured out. Not piping hot but perfectly acceptable and warming. This was at 6pm the following day, 31 hrs!! I would stress the importance of pre warming properly, but I have never had a flask last that long till now. I did read some negative reviews before I purchased saying Chinese not as god as the old USA made ones, but for me I couldn’t ask for better. If I ever need another it’s Stanly all the way for me.

Anyone looking for a Thermos/Flask to keep their tea, coffee or any form of liquid either hot or cold should definitely take a look at this. The product claims to keep your beverage either hot or cold for 24 hours. The truth is, it works a treat and lives up to my harsh standards! It can really keep your tea or coffee hot for 24 hours, if you're planning a long drive hike or trip then fill this up before you leave and you can enjoy it all day long. The casing isn't particularly fashionable in today's standards but is does have a very tough outer casing and it feels like it will last a long time before it starts to show any signs of use, so the product will probably out live any of the cheaper designs. The cap fits very snug with grooves cut out on both sides allowing you to pour your drink with a couple of turns on the cap. The cap itself is very deep which obviously helps to keep the heat in even when you are using it a lot.Overall a very well built product with a good price bracket to make it worthwhile.

This flask keeps drinks warm for 24 hours - we tested it with a full load of coffee and a pre-warm with hot water. During the day we took the occasional cup, and the evening cup was still piping hot; while next morning the final cup was warm and drinkable. It weighs 1873 grams (1.9 kilo) full of coffee, 0.8 kilo empty. It has no internal glass liner, as my wife remembers from the original version! That had to be replaced after big shocks or drops, while this steel version works just as well as the old one and is solid throughout. the weakest part would be the plastic stopper/pourer, but that is well-protected by the small plastic-lined steel cup that screws on top. You'll get six of these cups out of the flask.I wouldn't carry it in a backpack on a long walk, as it is too big and heavy for that; but it would be ideal for a long car trip, for camping, a whole day's fishing, or a picknick. It compares well to other quality products in price, too, so five stars it is.

As a professional dog walker, I'm out in all weathers all year round and always have a flask of coffee in the car for use throughout the day. Over the years, I've tried just about every flask on the market, some cheap, some expensive but always with the same out. It's hot for first break, warmish for lunchtime break, too cold to drink by mid afternoon break.I actually saw the Stanley flask in an American TV show (I'm in the UK) and thought I'd give it a try.....and I couldn't be happier with it! It's got a lovely traditional look, it's built to last, easy to clean and most importantly keeps my coffee piping hot ALL DAY! If I've got any left over when I get home from work,I just pour it into a mug and it's genuinely as hot and fresh as if I just made it at home! I've since bought another Stanley flask as a spare and can honestly say, I'll never go back to any other brand! Happy happy customer!

This vacuum bottle seems to have mixed reviews. 24% of the reviews (at the time of my review) give it one star and are critical of build quality, longevity and heat retention. At this stage having only had it a few days I can say that I found the heat retention to be excellent. The coffee I take to work remained hot all day, even though the vacuum was opened regularly as I had a refill from time to time. Build quality, based on visual inspection, seems to be very good. It certainly has a sturdy feel to it which suggests that it will endure rough treatment (not that I intend to subject it to such treatment). As for longevity I cannot yet comment on whether it will last - but if this proves to be a problem I will update this review. So,admittedly based upon early impressions, I am at the moment in the 5 star camp but that could change if I encounter the problems mentioned by other reviewers.

Finished in green speckle paint with a stainless steel inner, cup and base, this is a big, 1 litre flask which claims to be built for toughness. As soon as I received the flask, I filled it with boiling water, without any attempt to preheat. Twelve hours later, after being kept in an unheated room, the water inside was still extremely hot, certainly at least 60 degrees Centigrade - far too hot to drink. This is much better than I would expect of a glass walled flask. I was also surprised to find that the flask was lighter than I thought it would be.When my flask was unpacked, I discovered a label around its neck saying that it was "New and improved", which apparently includes a reduction in weight.I hope also that some of the issues, e.g. vacuum failure, reported in earlier reviews have been addressed. So far, so good with this one. I will report back if I find any problems.

pardon the pun! I really cannot praise this product highly enough, it is superb quality, solidly built and with a sturdy handle. It is primarily a flask for taking to work or for the great outdoors. That may sound silly, but so many flasks of inferior quality do not stand up to the rigours of an active life, and disintegrate after a few uses. Yet it is also surprisingly light to carry around. The best part was that my coffee was still as hot as when I made it several hours earlier, and also tasted like coffee with none of the usual tinny aftertaste you get with most flasks. And there's a lifetime guarantee... so I am planning to take my newly acquired flask on all manner of walks and picnics - now if only one could guarantee the weather!Really well worth the money, too, so do yourself a favour and get one of these, not a cheapo tacky alternative. Recommended!

The Stanley vacuum flask is very stylish in a kinda military/industrial kind of way.Although the handle looks a bit cheap and flimsy in comparison to the flask itself (which looks sturdy enough to survive a nuclear blast!), it does the job and is a useful feature lacking in a standard flask. The cup is also much nicer to drink from than one made solely from the plastic-type material common in standard flasks. This vacuum flask keeps water piping hot for a longer time than my standard vacuum flask. The water in the Stanley flask remained boiling hot after 24 hours and extremely hot after 36 hours, by which time the water in my previous flask was tepid at best. However,as most people only want a flask to keep liquids hot for less than 24 hours, I think this Stanley flask is a tad pricey compared to standard flasks and therefore I rate it 4*.

This is a smart-looking and useful flask that just works. I tested it out by putting in boiling water and 24 hours later the temperature of the water was still a lip-stinging 64.3 degrees Celsius. I was truly impressed! The build quality is top-notch, even the cup is stainless steel. And I liked how the handle could fold in easily for transport. In some other reviews some people have said that the older versions were of better quality, but I have not seen those before and I just have an ordinary Thermos flask to compare it to, so from my point of view this stainless steel flask is of a much better quality than a plastic one.I am a bit sceptical of the lifetime guarantee, but I can tell that the flask will last for ages and will probably age better than I will! Very pleased with this flask and would definitely recommend.
