Flask works as described, i had my doubts as some people gave bad reviews. Evidently they are wrong or they did not use it properly.I use it daily, and evry day my food is almost as i put it in there in the morning. Two things only to remeber, preheat with boiling water for like 1-2mins is enough for me and close the lid properly to seal it.To be specific:I use food either prepared before i go to work ( office) or the previous night and warm it in the morning before i put it in the flask. My times so that you can compare; i put the food in the flask at 7am, and i eat at 1pm. Thats 6 hours and the food is piping hot allways when i preheat the flask with boiled water from the kettel for a minute or two,and satisfyingly hot if i dont preheat. Basically if its soup, you want to preheat it as nothing beats a boiling soup. If its like veg, or meat you can eat it just warm so dont bother with preheating. My tried food is;Grilled pork chop, without preheating its still very warm its always steaming (i cut it into pieces and put it in the flask as the opening is only like 10cm wide) its also much easier to eat as i dont want to get my suit dirty whilst cutting up food.Boiled broccoli and other mixed veg, without preheating is eatable, but i prefer it boiling hot so i preheat it and its allways perfect.Rice without preheating is warm, but because its a dry food it doesnt hold much heat so if you prefer it boiling hot, preheat the flask and its fine.Mashed potatoes, with no preheat warm, with preheat, boiling.Grilled chicken, without preheat i dont recommend, with, perfectly boiling hot.Pasta, again because its a dry food, if you prefer it boiling you must preheat, but its ok for me without the preheat.Soup. Mentioned above. Also one more thing, i usually leave the flask in the car as its sealed properly (unlike others i tried) so it doesnt stink the car out. And its usually warm weather, but even now in the winter or some days i take it in the office with me and leave it on my desk, there is almost zero difference in the warmth of the food inside.Oh and a little guideline i believe applies, if you are not going to be filling the flask up say above 3/4 then the food obviously doesnt stay as worm as a lot of enthalpy (heat) is lost to the flask itself. So prefer the smaller sized one. Im a big hungry boy so the 0.8 l is more than enough. I dont manage to finish all my pasta, soup or rice as it fits too much. So if you dont eat that much think about what size suits you, as size matters :)

The tip about filling with boiling water and leaving to stand so heat warms the inner steel then discarding the hot water and putting in your soup or drink or whatever while the flask is still warm REALLY WORKS.I don't waste the discarded water I pour it into a handy couple of jugs and can put the discarded water back in the kettle.Having this huge flask is a real aide to me as I am partially disabled. I can walk but with a stick so I carry a lightweight shopping bag - like the £1-50 ones from Tesco or Sainsburys etc. in the other hand. These bags can fit a flat Sistema plate with lid on to carry a meal. The flask lies down in the bag AND DOES NOT LEAK while I carry it in to my lounge.I generally just use my 1.8L flask filled with just boiling hot water. My kettle holds 1.5L so sometimes I leave a little of the warming up the flask water in the flask and add the next 1.5L from my kettle. In my Lounge I have jar of coffee, sweetener and some dried milk in a jar. I have packets of instant soup. Coffee drinks. Herbal or ordinary teabags. Also sometimes Pot Noodles or similar. Also the fact I use only water in this huge flask makes it easy to keep clean. The flask side handle took a little getting used to as when you get hold of it gravity makes the flask move away from the handle. OK once you get used to this movement it is ok.The flask cup has a loose inner cup underneath it which is cream coloured plasticThe cup and the inner cup are wide across the top and are very shallowThe only thing I don't like about the flask is that the handle of the cup which is made of solid plastic with no identation for finger tips. This handle would be ok if it was same height as the cup but being small I can only grip it with a thumb and one finger.ngs.jbI feel a taller handle with hole for enabling safer holding or even indentations with grip of fingertips would improve. One last thing I thought pehaps this flask would fit in the Greenfield picnic wine cooler as the keep cool aspect would perhaps aid the keep warm aspect of the flask but even with the cup removed from the flask it does not fit in the zip up container in either of it's sides.

Purchased this as a replacement for my Son who was consistently trashing conventional glass bulb flasks in the course of running his business.Have known Thermos for many many years when they were based in Brentwood in Essex, and were very well known for producing top quality product. Nowadays all their product seems to be made in China, but don,t let that put you off because this still retains the quality Thermos reputation. Keeps hot drinks at a really good hot temp for up to 8 hours, although it is equally suitable for cold or hot food, we have not tried that as yet. Stainless materials with a pull out synthetic carry handle. Decent size outer stainless cup with smaller inner plastic cup.Sealing top plug and large sealing ring that can be removed when flask is filled with hot or cold food. Very easy to clean both inside and outside, although warning about total submersion in water, and no mention about putting in a dishwater, but I really would avoid that. Top tip would be to fill for a couple of inches with fresh boiled water and let it stand for around 5/10 mins, give it a swirl and tip that water out prior to filling flask with a hot drink. Have found that a pre-warmed flask keeps contents hotter for longer. Instruction leaflet pushed inside it is miniscule so you may need a mag glass to read it. Also do give this a wash in wash up liquid prior to first use, just to take off any factory treatment for shipment. All in all, very impressed with this flask, might be more expensive than some other similar type flasks, but this is Thermos quality.

I purchased this from Argos for much cheaper. The flask is excellent. I cooked chicken alfredo at around 6am in the morning and packed it into the thermos straight off the fire.My daughter did not have lunch until 1.30pm that same day and reported the food was steaming hot when she dug in.... so much so that the poor child ended up burning her tongue a bit because she was starving and just started shoveling everything into her mouth. She did see the steam but I guess the stomach was in control. I dont think we both realised the food would have remained so hot because we have never had a thermos that was so good. Normally food would fall warm after 4 hrs. Most reviews only cover liquid drinks or soups so I had no idea how cooked food would fare. This was a trial for us really. How it works is you load up your food, tighten the cap.... this looks like it really seals in the heat. Then you would screw on the cover. The top cover serves as an extra bowl really or cup.I will be purchasing another for my mom because she also takes home cooked meals to work and has had the same issue with food going barely warm after a few hours.I will experiment separating the food into containers to see how that works. Sometimes you dont want to walk with an all in one meal. The thermos holds a lot of food.

I found mine at a clearance store and they obviously had no idea what it was. I paid about 8$ for it and love it. It really is worth the 45-60$ I see online.I brew my chai tea early in the morning (between 6 and 7am) and it stays piping hot at my desk all day in it. It comes with a cup cover, a little white bowl inside the cover, an easy pour top that screws out, and the actual thermos cover. The seals are strong; I leave it sitting on the passenger seat laying down and have never had a spill (not even inside the cup cover).I've seen reviews saying it can be difficult to clean, but I beg to differ. The cover and bowl are very simple to clean by hand and the rest (topper, cover and main thermos)go in the dishwasher without problem. With all the activity it gets, mine still looks and functions like brand new.I've had thermoses in the past, but none of them have stood a chance against this one's ability to maintain its heat, be easy to clean and not make a mess when trying to pour. I am VERY satisfied with this product and would gladly have paid the retail price for it. If anything should ever happen to this one, I will definitely get a new one whatever the cost. I highly recommend this product to anyone who has a practical use for a thermos.

I've read some mixed reviews on websites about all of the flasks on offer so decided at least with the name Thermos i'd be getting a tried and tested brand.it seems to be a well make stainless steel flask, it can be used as a drinks flask for hot or cold with a conventional screw top or you can use it as a food flask and can remove a larger screw top which the conventional screw top fits into allowing you to spoon out more substantial food. The first time i used it it only kept the food lukewarm but i had opened it a couple of hours earlier to check if it was holding the heat and therefore broke the seal, the second time i left it till i needed it which was 10hrs after it had been filled and it was still hot,i did however follow others recommendations of heating it with boiling water for about 10mins before filling it which seems to be the key, if however you open it throughout the day it's going to get progressively colder. One negative is the handle, it doesn't come out far enough to comfortably get your fingers behind it and size wise i can also only get 3 fingers at best within the gap so when full it just doesn't feel safe to handle so i tend not to use it as the outside wall is cool to the touch anyway.

A superb flask. We bought this flask for when we're out and about with our twin toddlers and fill it with thick soup, baked beans, spaghetti hoops or chilli and rice etc as they aren't into bread yet so purchasing the likes of a sandwich for them doesn't work. We previously used a narrow necked flask but upgraded to this wide, food specific flask when the seal broke on the old one.Whether we put in luke warm baked beans (ready to eat straight away) or piping hot chilli and rice it maintains the temperature completely for most of the day so its always perfect. With it being wide necked its easy to pour or scoop out the food and its also perfect for washing as unless you're Geoff Capes or a Jolly Green Giant you can get your hand in it completely to give it a proper wash inside. It cleans very easily if you do it straight away. If you leave it with the lid off and the contents dry on it requires a bit more work. I wouldn't advise leaving it submerged in a bowl of water as my husband found out the base fills with water... It dried out eventually and has not been detrimental to its functioning. However there's no issue if you fill it with water and leave it to soak that way.

Multiple reasons for buying this size of flask and not one of the larger ones, but mainly that cafetiere coffee (which is what I use it for) doesnt keep well and 3 cups is just about the limit. Plus I have another one the same size which, during winter, I use for homemade soups....and on one or two occasions a chicken curry for my lunch! (and yes it does keep it hot - the trick is to use really boiling water to warm the flask for about 4-5 mins before putting in the curry...make sure curry is very hot too). Anyway, I keep one for food stuff and one for coffee.Overall the quality of the flask is nice too....there are two cups, though the one inside the main cup isnt exactly huge, but its actually mroe comfortable to hold than the big one.My only [small] criticism is the carry strap is a bit cheaply made and the lack of a finger hole on the large cup makes holding it not the best, but its still the best flask on the market at this size and price....and this is my second so illustrates just how good they are.

I've had this before from argos but they stopped selling it so when I dropped it multiple times and eventually broke the lid I got a replacement from amazon. Love being able to have hot food at work without having to resort to expensive stuff from the canteen which is never as good as mine. The seal is better on this one than the original I bought 6 years ago and it has an extra bowl. Easy to clean as I have small hands and can push a sponge inside although I do have washing up brushes which would do the job if my hands didn't fit. I preheat it with hot water before filling with whatever food I fancy for the day. The more sauce it has the longer it stays hot,I've burned my mouth 6 hours after it was filled with vegetable soup. I can put enough in to cover 2 meals if necessary and it fits nicely in my lunch bag or hangs off my rucksack with the strap. Brilliant piece of kit ??

Originally I was going to write a really bad review of this. I tried the flask, it leaked BADLY on day 1 and then when I was filing it in a cupboard and vowing never to buy another Thermos product I happened to look at the inside of the big lid.You see the flask is clearly designed to have 2 rubber seals, and one of them was not actually connected to the lid (but I could see the the retention indent for it). For whatever reason it was in the packaging, loose along with the carry strap. Maybe my flask was a friday evening special, but funnily enough once I attached the seal to the lid properly and sealed it, the tendency to leak was gone. Now - the flask is working well and is leakless,I can give a positive review: it's a good leakless flask, keeps tea warm for a good 8 hr day (maybe longer) - hopefully yours comes a little more pre-assembled than mine did!

These Thermos flasks are lightweight, so easy to clean, have an extra suction cap so that you can use the flask with either tea/coffee or with chunky soup. I have only used them for up to 8 hours at a time so far, and they have lost hardly any heat at all and still being able to pour a very hot cup of coffee I got fed up replacing my normal flasks with the glass inners because I was constantly dropping them as I have bad hands with very little grip. They also come with an extra carry strap that you can attach. You can use this strap over your shoulder or use it to attach to your backpack. These have been an excellent choice regarding value for money. They were delivered well packaged and came with instructions on how to use.

I've been using mine daily for a few weeks now and am very pleased with it. I make tea with milk first thing in the morning and it's still hot after 6 hours. The wider opening is good for adding and removing the tea bags (and for washing) and the smaller opening is perfect for pouring. Mine get's opened for pouring four or five times during the 6 hours but the tea is still hot until the end (should have got the next size up as I run out of tea before the end of the day!).Do the lid up nice and tight and it doesn't leak even when it's on it's side. Remember to heat it up with hot water for a few minutes before use as per the instructions. Easy to clean. I'd recommend!

*Overall good design and good value for money.*Doesn't leak at all.*For the price I paid £12.70 it's good value for money! Can't complain.* Seems like it's made of good quality stainless steel however, it doesn't say it's BPA free 18/8 grading on Thermos website so I'd say it isn't?*Don't like how an extra plastic cup sits between stopper and top lid/cup. Plastic cups doesn't seem to be made of good quality!*Design let's heat come from the top lid.*Clean it properly with hot water it won't change the taste of your tea/soup.*If you put boiled water in first for 5 minutes, it keeps your tea hot for 7 hours and warm for 10 to 11 hours at roughly 10c

I had a large glass lined Thermos for twenty odd years. It was very good. It looks as if this new one will last as well. Pretty robust I have found out. Keeps coffee hot for longer than is claimed, and because of the big kneck it is easy to clean. Both seals work well.If there is a niggle, the handle for the larger cup cannot be gripped easily:- important with a heavy cup full. The smaller inner cup has not much of a base to stand on.I don't know why a long strap is supplied..people have uses I don't, obviously.I am pleased, it is an improvement on the old faithful model from the past, and keeps me going all day on my miniature railway.

This is a beast of a flask, holding almost 2L.I have only used it for cold so cannot comment on the ability to keep things hot. Bought it as I drink a lot at work and wanted to switch from fizzy drinks to water, but only like ice cold water. So each morning I have been putting a tray of ice cubes in and filling with water which had been kept in the fridge overnight. At end of day I had a good quantity of ice still left so left it overnight to top up in morning. 24 hours later there was still ice cubes in the flask and the water I left in was still icy cold. So this does a great job of keeping things cold.
