The flask is genuine, the printing on the stainless steel is good quality and although it didnt come in a Thermos retail packaging box it came in a bag and had a thermos sticker on the flask which indicated it was real to me. I have a 0.5L flask too and this is identical so if you order Amazon Prime I can guarantee unlike a lot of the 1 star reviews it is real. The issue I had is probably related to the fact that it didn't come with a retail box. It was in a plastic bag and share the same Amazon packaging box as my Thermos King Food Flask (Also a great product for winter). The flask came with the lid as expected, but a plastic insert stopper, the one that is like a black plug. The stopper is supposed to screw into the flask and there is a rubber seal to plug the flask and ensure the drink is contained, but this was not the case with mine because the flask did not have an inner thread for the plug, it was a smooth finish. What I did notice though is that there were 2 threads on the outside of the flask, a wider thread for the cup but then another thread above it which was not as wide and after seeing this I realised my flask was made to have the over-the-flask type of stopper that has a locking mechanism, rather than the black plug which screws into the flask and has to be unscrewed each time it is used. I contacted Amazon pretty much immediately telling them exactly what is above and I went onto the Thermos UK site and saw the plug I needed was actually £3.95 so I explained I didnt want to pay almost half the price I paid for the flask in the first place just for a plug (£9.49 was my purchase price of the flask) so if Amazon could send me a part that would be ideal, I hate dealing with returns especially if it is something as fixable as this because it is time and effort I cannot be bothered with it.I received an email from Amazon within 3 hours explaining they do not send out single parts like this, but they have told me they filed for a £3.95 refund so that I can get the part I need from Thermos's website in the UK.Say what you will and I know you will say "it should have been right the first time" but I know things like this can happen from time to time and this service and Amazon's ability to compromise sets Amazon far apart from a lot of online shops and highstreet shops all the same, some of which can be bureaucratic to the point where they will ask you to send your purchased items back for what seems to be a retaliation to causing them the inconvenience of having to fix a problem they created. The main thing is I don't have to waste my time and money on a return to then buy the same product elsewhere (because I still want the flask) and maybe waste a week chasing up orders and money, I just purchased the cap and it will be here in 3 days and Amazon is supposed to have the refund to me within 3 days and job done.

This is a one-litre steel thermos flask, with a screw cap and cup. A litre is about three mugs full, which will fill the flask cup about five times. The outer shell is brushed steel; the flask inside is shiny steel. The neck of the flask is wide enough to get a bottle brush inside with ease but I clean mine by pouring in some boiling water and a dot of soap, closing the top and giving it a good shake. So, how does it perform? I've been using mine for a few months, carried in a rucksack as part of my daily packed lunch. The outer shell has survived well, with hardly a mark on it. It keeps hot liquids hot all day. After seven hours, my coffee is still steaming hot inside it,and that's after the flask has been opened a few times to pour drinks. I have no complaints about its ability to keep hot drinks hot. It works just fine. The screw cap may be partially unscrewed, which opens a slot down the side, through which you may pour a drink without removing the cap completely (and letting out the heat). The cup is black plastic and has a brushed steel outer shell. It keeps drinks hot for quite a while, too, even in a cold place. Some reviewers have complained that it leaks. Mine doesn't. The trick is to close the top tightly. That means turning it until the sealing ring squeaks and you can't turn the top any more. If you happen to be not very strong, it may be that you won't be able to tighten it enough to not leak. That is a shortcoming, but it is really down to screwing it tight enough to make a seal.I did damage mine, when my rucksack broken and the flask fell four feet onto concrete. It fell on the cup end, which dented it. Other than that, no harm done. The flask is working fine.I have just one gripe. In the old days, Thermos flasks had TWO cups: an outer one, and another one slotted inside. That meant a couple could both have a drink. This being a one-litre flask, that's plenty of drink for two people, so two cups would be good.I bought mine from Amazon UK and had it delivered to Italy, where I was working at the time. I mention this because these flasks cost a fortune in Italy. I have no idea why, but it is cheaper to buy it from Amazon UK and pay for express next-day delivery to Italy, and it still be less than half the price charged for it in Italy. The point is, they are currently (in 2013-2014) much cheaper in the UK.So it's a really good flask. It is hard-wearing, light-weight, never leaks, and keeps drinks hot all day. I'm very happy with mine. One litre is quite a lot of drink (and a litre of water weighs one kilo!) but this flask does also come in a smaller size if a litre is too much or too heavy.

3 years down the line I can say that this flask is still keeping my breakfast cuppa hot overnight - and by hot I mean hot enough to scald. It doesn't keep quite so hot for the full 24 hours but then I never use the cup so lose the added insulation that would give. I don't use the cup because I find it fills with condensation that then drips everywhere when I take it off.The twist and pour stopper is great at keeping any teabag in the flask and giving a controlled pour so long as you remember to pour in the direction of the arrow otherwise the fluid may come out both sides and go everywhere. Where I find that the stopper fails is, after the first cup has been removed, the cooling internal temperatures invoke a pressure seal that can be very difficult to break - sometimes nigh impossible. However, on the few occasions when my own grip has proved unequal to the task, I have a strap wrench that, so far, has never been defeated. It isn't the best flask I have ever had, that one kept my tea scalding for 48 hours until long past going out of production, but it works well and is pretty good at bouncing off the floor undamaged. I wouldn't hesitate for very long over buying another one - just long enough to see if Thermos had started producing the other one again.Edit : I actually did buy another, as a spare, so now have 2 of these. More recently the original was making breathy noises. Investigation revealed that, right at its centre, the stopper had developed a pinprick hole that was allowing heat (and moisture) to escape. A problem quickly resolved by a visit to Thermos' own thermosonline site where replacements can be found.Edit: Not quite 6 years down the line, this old work horse has met its demise. Having served me faithfully since the beginning of 2015, it seems that the threat of a second lockdown proved too much for it and it started losing heat last night. Where it is compromised I cannot see, nor how it became so, but as soon as it is filled the exterior starts to radiate the heat and an hour later the contents are cold :'(

Ensure the stopper is done up properly, there are grooves in the thread which allow the liquid to be poured out by undoing it a bit.Inside the flask was a tiny little folded card, for the benefit of those reading this review, it says:CARE AND USEBefore first use, and as soon as possible after each use, wash all parts with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow time to dry.The container should be periodically cleaned. The best results are obtained using a mixture of water and bicarbonate of soda or washing up liquid. Rinse thoroughly afterwards. DO NOT put the stopper/lid on whilst using this cleaning method. Soaking overnight produces excellent results. Always rinse before re-use.Never use in a dishwasher to clean.Hand washing is recommended for best results.DO NOT immerse in waterDO NOT use abrasive cleaners or scrubbers since they may dull the finish.DO NOT use bleach or cleaners containing chlorine on any part of the product.Pre-heat or pre-cool the container with water to ensure efficient use and reduce the risk of breakage of the glass filler. Attach lid, stand 5 to 10 minutes, and empty. Never use microwave or conventional oven for this purpose.DO NOT use on the stove topCAUTIONUse only with adult supervision when product contains hot liquids or hot foods - hot liquids or hot foods can scald user.Never leave child unattended while using this product. To avoid possible injury, do not let child walk or run with product.Always test temperature of food or liquid before feeding your child.DO NOT overfill product. Hot liquids or foods can scald user.DO NOT drink directly from the product or from the stopper.Check the stopper periodically. A worn stopper may cause the product to leak.In order to minimise bacteria growth, do not use to keep warm milk products or baby food. Contents that spoil easy should not be kept in the product for prolonged periods.DO NOT use to store or carry carbonated drinks or dry ice. May cause stopper and contents to eject forcefully or leak.

I bought this in Sep 2014, and have been using it daily to store mint tea.I love this flask. I don't actually know what I was doing with my life without it.Everyday I fill it up, shove it in my bag and cycle to work. At 3pm I open it up and pour myself a cup using the half-twist pouring feature. Three hours later and I'm still pouring cups and they're still piping hot (sometimes too hot, and I leave it half-open to cool a bit if I need to go home soon).Anyway -- the main selling point of this flask is how damn durable it is. Since September I have been in several accidents:1. Bike collided with a bus, skidding along the ground a few meters -- Bike forks bent; flask completely undamaged2.Bike thrown over a car who decided to pull a sudden U-turn as I was overtaking, landed on my rucksack and skidded along a bit -- Bike frame irreplaceably damaged; flask took a few dings on the cup and on the bottom but still stores heat as per usual, no leaks.3. Car flipped onto side at 120 km/h whilst overtaking on a bend, skidded along a few hundred meters, rolled over onto otherside, did a 180, and flipped back onto 4 wheels. All the windows were smashed, two of the wheels were shredded, cracked radiator, rear axle out of whack, and contents of our trunk scattered along the motorway. After checking that we were all alive and well, we went to retrieve our contents and warn other drivers, when who should I see rolling along the ground eagerly towards me? Flasky of course, a little more dinged up on the bottom, but still working like a champ -- and let me tell you, that hot cup of mint tea I had on the roadside after the accident was a god-send.I love you flasky, never change

I washed the flask out with hot water and washing up liquid, then filled it about 3/4 full with nearly boiling water. After about 30 minutes I could detect heat in the centre of the flask; the top and bottom of the flask were still room temperature. Not sure if that's normal.5 hours later, the centre of the flask is still a little warmer than the top and bottom, but isn't as warm as earlier. Bad sign? I checked inside and the water was warm. A cup of tea or coffee at that temperature would NOT be very pleasant.Thermos say that water stays hot for 8 hours in these thermocafe flasks, so I guess this is technically faulty? To its credit, it keeps liquids warmer than an ordinary storage bottle would. However, the main reason I bought this flask was to keep protein shakes cool for when I go to the gym. By the time I have done my workout and am ready to drink the shake it will have been in the flask for around 2 hours. According to Thermos these flasks are supposed to be better at keeping cold things cold than hot things hot (keeps liquid cool for 24 hours, they say). I used it for this purpose yesterday and I had a nice cold refreshing shake after my arduous workout routine. Very pleased. However, please note that the instructions say never to use the flask to store milk products and in brackets it says (danger of bacterial growth). I've decided to use it for protein shakes anyway since I'm only keeping it in there for around 2 hours. I think it's just them veering on the safe side to protect themselves legally.

This is the best flask I’ve ever had the pleasure of using. The texture on it provides excellent grip, it’s big enough for my needs, the stainless steel cap, although small-ish, can be used as a cup and the plastic cap that provides the seal on the flask has this simple but effective system. Take the cap off, put your tea or coffee inside, seal it and whenever you need to have a sip you aren’t required to take the cap off but just unscrew it a bit and, with one of the two arrows drawn on the top of the cap pointing towards the inside of your mug, tilt it. Your tea/coffee will pour through one of the two channels manufactured into the sealing cap which eliminates the need to completely remove it every single time you want a sip, keeping your tea/coffee warm for longer. It just seems like it’s been well thought out.How effective is it? Very! Keeps my tea hot for at least 7-8 hours and it still is warm after 24 hours. I can say that because I sometimes forget to wash it after work on Friday and only remember on Saturday or Sunday. Even after 36 hours, if left closed, my tea is still slightly warm. The trick is to pour some boiling water in the flask, cover it and leave it there for 5-10 minutes, then throw that away and put your tea or coffee in.All in all, a very good product which is worth the money! I just hope they won’t change it into something worse as I’m going to definately be coming back to this if anything bad happens to mine.

It used to be that whenever we went somewhere new we would assume that there would be somewhere to get coffee, and buying that cardboard cup of steaming beverage became a part of the experience. Fears of COVID and the closure of bars and restaurants made the availability of hot drinks no longer something we could rely on. The answer was simple, make our own coffee and take it with us. This flask arrived quickly via Prime, and we have now used it on several occasions such as visiting friends in a park and hiking in the countryside to get away from crowds of people.Like any insulating flask it works best when preheated. Half-fill with boiling water straight from the kettle for five minutes or so,then discard the water and fill the flask with freshly brewed coffee or tea. Even without preheating, though, it still keeps a black coffee nicely hot for at least five hours.Being made from stainless steel it's tough too, and can be popped in a backpack and forgotten about until you need a break. It seals well, but please make sure the screw closure is fully tightened, and happily survives being laid on its side in the back of a car for a few hours if required. The outer lid also functions as a small cup, which is fine for one person at a pinch, but when hiking together it's still best to take separate cups.

I'm going with 4/5 stars for this.I'm happy enough with it that I use it every day (I drink a lot of tea)..... And if mine ever becomes damaged or lost - I'll probably get another one exactly the same. However, my complaint (the "lost star" from not being 5/5) is I expect, more to do with the science of these flasks than with this specific brand. If you use the vacuum seal... The tea becomes highly tainted both in smell and taste - so I don't use the vacuum seal.Using only the lid... The last cup from it, is luke-warm, after about 3 hours. It also hisses quite loudly, from escaping pressure and moisture (from not using the vacuum seal). Also, whenever you open it this way..There's quite a lot of spillage from the steam condensation.So.... If you intend to use it, as I do, as a way of having extra tea next to you, so you don't have to keep going to get more and reheating it.. Then it's pretty decent and a comfortable 4/5.If, however, you intend for it to last longer than 3 hours and you intend to take it out and about with you.... It's less good.As you would need to use the vacuum seal in that case, which as I said, taints the taste and smell (quite a sickly taint).... And you couldn't really have it out and about without it leaking, if you weren't using the seal.

I bought this for the sole purpose of taking on holiday so I can enjoy coffee on the beach without having to buy it for £3 a cup at the beach cafe. I haven't yet been on holiday but like any good consumer, as soon as it came I started testing. First, it looks really good, very pretty and sturdy looking, definitely not a knock off like some of the reviews say. The lid/cup bit is a very good size for a thermos, certainly adequate enough for me and it screws up very securely. The inner cap bit also screws up very tight and has a great easy pour function. So I filled it with boiling water and tested the leak proof-ness and sure enough it didn't leak! Now for the fun part - I filled it with boiling water straight from the kettle and proceeded to check the temperature at intervals of an hour. After 3 hours it was still scalding, after 5 hours, it was still scalding, after 7 hours, you got it, it was still scalding! But the kicker is that at this point I went to bed and when I got up I checked it again, by this point it had been 19 hours and guess what? IT WAS STILL HOT ENOUGH TO BURN ME! So all in all, for the price this is an amazing purchase! I highly recommend this product to anyone who likes their beverages hot!

As a family of keen walkers, I bought this flask at the beginning of winter to take a hot drink out onto the hills with us. I used to have a thermos flask when I was a teenager which was great and this is no different. Normally make a full flask at 8am and it's still piping hot at 3pm. Can be heavy when full but that's liquid for you! The flask is very light when empty. Do be careful though - the flask (like many thermal drink flasks) has a glass inner. If you drop this then it's very likely to be game over. Having said that, my flask has a couple of dents in it (not sure when they happened - probably whilst in my walking bag)and the glass is still intact.I've been using this almost daily for the last few months and it has no signs of leaking or thermal failing. I always pack my thermos flask upright (why wouldn't you??) so not sure if it would leak when upside-down. Don't fancy trying that!I've recently bought a second flask for the kids hot chocolate which also is of the same quality. For those reviewers who mark this product down for being too big or too heavy - I would suggest checking the flask dimensions before you buy it.I would totally recommend this product - just treat it with care!

Great flask. I have this for revision times and take a drink with me to the library when studying. They have a great aluminium design and feel really sturdy. They hold drinks hot for ages as I have emptied it out the day after sometimes and still had steam come out. The 1 litre size is also ideal as its not to heavy when full but also has enough for a decent number of cap fulls.I would say however now that I have used the product for a while, the inside lid sometimes doesn't stop turning and can overscrew and become loose, so you have to judge that point where it tightens up but before it goes over and you have to rescrew it on again, (if that makes sense). Also they slightly leak a bit if held upside down in your bag,but I think this is obvious really. And the final thing is that they are hard to clean on the inside, and while I mainly use it for green tea, the inside is slightly stained brown from this. However the hole is small so you need an implement to get a sponge inside to give it a good scrub. But this is something I imagine is a problem for all flasks.Overall I would recommend this, I actually see a lot of people in the library with the same one so I guess that's a good sign.

It's very very good, but could be improved. However, I do highly recommend this.Pros:• Perfectly airtight. I shook it about and everything, no problems.• The cup gets warm when it has warm liquid in it, so it warms your hands up when the weather's bad.• Stays hot pretty much all day. Whenever I put tea in it, it's always too hot to drink even 2-3 hours later, so I have to leave the lid off for a fair bit before I can drink it. Could be seen as a con, but it's better too hot than too cold in my opinion.Cons:• The lid is easy to put on, but hard to get off. If you screw it on too tight, it hurts your hand to open because the ridges scrape on your skin. It's easy to just learn how tight is too tight, though, so it doesn't matter too much.• The inside part of the lid gets a lot of condensation on it from the steam of a hot drink, and it can drip off.• Tea has a really weird caramal-like smell when it's been in there for a couple hours (noticed even from first use, so it's not like it's from something I put in there before). Kinda off-putting.• Small con, but it has a massive sticker on the side and a small one on the bottom. It's easy to remove with a sticker remover, but meh.

I bought this to store plain boiled water for when I need to make a feed for my baby on the go while out and about, also for storing the boiled water at night so that it saves me the trouble of having to put the kettle on boil and leave it to cool for 30 minutes every single time. I think it works perfectly because who has time for that when you've woken up mid sleep to feed a fussy, irritated baby. This flask keeps the water at a perfect temperature for a very long time. The look and size / shape of this flask is good too.One thing I would suggest is that when you wash this flask, pay extra attention to the screw cap, particularly the white rubber /plastic band bit at the bottom which needs to be taken off and rinsed separately if you're washing with soapy water as the soapy suds remain trapped underneath there even if you're convinced you've rinsed well which will cause the suds to foam up on top once you've screwed it back onto the flask and you've got hot liquid in there. It will ruin your litre of drink and what a waste that is!I am going to buy the 500ml version of this flask too for storing hot beverages for myself as I've loved it so much.
