This is a review of the House of Marley Uplift 2 Wireless headphones (brass colour). In summary, these are very good Bluetooth headphones, though they do have some issues. On the plus side, I found myself enjoying not having my usual long headphone cable trailing after me.I tested these headphones with my OnePlus 3T smartphone, using the Spotify app set to High sound quality. For comparison, I used my Sennheiser Game Zero professional noise cancelling headphones, which have a full ear cup design and currently cost around £160.SOUND QUALITY==============The sound is surprisingly good for in-ear headphones, with loud bass and clear mids and treble. For my tastes, the bass was actually a little too strong, overpowering the music at very high volumes. My Sennheisers have a much more neutral, flat tone to them, which I prefer. However, for the price of these headphones (£49.99 at the time of writing), I'm impressed. I surprised how good in-ear headphones are these days. The headphones are pretty good at blocking most outside noise, but unfortunately there is quite a serious issue with "cable rumble" in certain circumstances. When you're walking, moving about, or even just turning your head left to right, the cables move around, transmitting vibrations directly into your ear. This background rumble started to become very distracting. I found myself turning up the music volume just to try to drown out the background rumble while I was walking.By comparison, I can fiddle with the cable on my Sennheisers and I don't get this issue at all. I suspect this is a problem with all in-ear headphones which have cables, not just these House of Marley ones. This cable rumble only happens when you're moving, so if you sit at a desk or otherwise stay quite stationary, the sound quality is really good.COMFORT=========I found these in-ear headphones very comfortable, even after a few hours of being stuck in my ears. They are nice and lightweight, so I barely noticed I was wearing them. I tried having the Bluetooth receiver sat both behind my neck, and hanging in front of my chest. Both positions were comfortable and the earbuds stayed firmly in my ears at all times. I often sleep while wearing headphones and I'd be perfectly happy to continue doing so with these. The fact they're wireless means no more mornings waking up with a headphone cable wrapped around my neck!FUNCTIONALITY==============I charged the headphones on my PC using the supplied USB cable. Once the headphones were charged (2 hours), pairing with my phone using Bluetooth worked seamlessly. The volume control (and mic) sits just below my left ear and is easy to use. If I want to advance to the next track, or skip back to the start of the current track, I can do a quick "double tap" on the volume buttons. To pause music, I just press the central button. Easy.I took a phone call while I was out walking our dogs. The sound quality was excellent, so it seems the in-line mic works really well.AESTHETICS===========I'll admit that at first, I didn't particularly like the look of these headphones, especially the small piece of wood on each ear bud. The brass colour of the model I'm reviewing is my least favourite out of the 3 available options. But the more I've used these headphones, the more I like how they look. I now think they look quite smart and funky.WIRELESS RANGE===============Inside the house, the headphones worked perfectly when my phone was in the same room. In separate rooms the audio broke up badly, but that's what you'd expect from Bluetooth.I had a slight problem while out walking. With my phone in my pocket, the audio kept breaking up. When I took my phone out of my pocket, the audio was fine. This problem was almost totally solved by wearing the Bluetooth receiver on my chest rather than behind my neck, but this solution isn't ideal. The problem may be caused by a Bluetooth issue on my phone, so I won't be too hasty in blaming these headphones.USAGE SCENARIOS=================I absolutely love my Sennheiser Game Zero headphones. Whenever I am sat at my PC I will continue to use them. However, when I'm in bed, or when I'm driving, I'll happily use these Uplift 2 in-ear headphones. These headphones say they last up to 10 hours on a single charge, which will be fine for most people.VALUE FOR MONEY=================For £49.99 these are pretty good. You're paying a premium to have wireless headphones and I'm not convinced it's worth the extra money. The cable rumble is a pain, but all in-ear headphones seem to have the same issue.

These are a beautifully and uniquely designed set of headphones. They won't be for everyone due to the quirky nature of how they sit when you wear them but in terms of quality and the how the materials used all fit and look they are top notch. The earbuds themselves are a really nice comfortable fit in the ear and do a good job of isolating the sound and cutting out noise from outside (by no means noise cancelling but they do a good job of physically shutting out noise). The sound quality is great, I mainly use headphones for podcasts and talking on the phone so these are perfect for what I need. The wooden features here and there and the textured striped cable are a really nice touch and makethese headphones stand out and just generally feel a bit nicer than the usual plasticky rubberised versions. The gold/brass elements look and feel quality too.Bluetooth hookup was simple as you'd expect. You also get a nice little bag to keep things tidy and shove them in a workbag or similar. They come with spare earbuds for replacements or different fit.I've given these 4 stars as I think one area that bluetooth headphones are really useful for is being out and about - especially going running. Whilst these are a nice quirky design I think some people will be put off by the large unit that hangs at the back of your neck. In practice it makes them quite handy as you can take them out and everything just sits around your neck like a piece of jewellery. So if you're out and about walking around (e.g. commuting) then these will probably be a really good solution. The downsides for me is I'm either using these to go running - in which case it just gets annoying with the pack flapping about. Or I'm using them when on the train going to work and meetings etc. In practice the commuting aspect they are great in terms of functionality, however dressed in a suit with these pretty cool looking headphones draped around my neck I feel a little out of place. My issue really but I'm nearly 40 and dressed in a suit wearing something that would look a lot more fitting on someone half my age dressed a bit more casually!Probably a 5 star rating if you're looking for a set of headphones to use when you're going back and forth from college/university and want a cable free way of listening to music and talking on your phone.

These House of Marley headphones are larger than some I’ve had but I found them comfortable to wear. They are beautifully presented in a neat box and would be a very acceptable and fancy-looking gift. A pair of large size and a pair of small size bud gels are also in the box and a well-made carry-case. There is a manual that is printed in a ridiculously-small font and almost impossible to read. I needed a magnifying glass to decipher the instructions and ended up relying on common-sense to work out the headphone controls. There is a battery charger cable (and of course a battery). The medium size earbuds are fitted as default and they are easy to fit. I’ve had no problems with them; they stay in place very well. The battery pack hangs at the back of the neck and there is a magnetic clasp to join the wires around the neck. If you don’t clip the clasp with the battery pack at the back of your neck, when you walk about the pack will quickly slide round to the front, so you do need to clip the magnetic clasps together if you’re moving around with the headphones on.The inline control button is a bit hard to find. It is very small. Finding where to press on the inline controller takes some fiddling as the button divisions are not tactile enough to be clear. You cannot see the buttons so you have to feel them with your thumb and they are not defined enough to differentiate easily. It’s a case of press and hope. The Bluetooth headphones connected to my Chromebook computer without any problem. They also connected easily and quickly to an Oppo Android phone. I had issues connecting the headphones to a Moto X Android phone. When I found a solution it became apparent this is not a problem with the Marley headphone; it is a bug with the Moto X. If you are using that phone, you need to turn off Bluetooth scanning in Settings>Location>Options. Bizarre, but doing this allowed the headphones to work with my Moto X phone. The sound from the headphones is good, they are nicely made and look smart. Now I have them working with all my devices I am pleased with them.

I've been using a pair of wired House of Marley headphones for a while now, and these new wireless pair keep all the good features of those, plus the added benefit of being wireless. The sound quality is good and solid, not amazing though - they exhibit a good range of bass and treble without giving away any of the mid and everything is clear and crisp. The 'Noise-cancelling' is not really noticeable, they certainly make the outside world quieter, but what in-ear headphones don't?The Bluetooth was very easy to connect and only took a few seconds, and now they pair instantly with my phone whenever I turn them on which is very useful. The connection is strong (I've only had one slight loss of connection so far which is much better than other Bluetooth headsets I've used). The headphones do not report the battery levels to my phone and don't audibly report either, which is something I've had in the past with Bluetooth headsets and have found useful, but this isn't a big deal and I see it more of a feature of other headsets rather than a failing of this one.The design is good - I like the colours and style of the battery compartment at the back, the wood trim on the earbuds is lovely, and the magnetic clips that secure the cable around your neck is strong and super useful. The cord is well made and doesn't kink - I much prefer this fabric covered wire style than the classic plastic. The in-cord volume controls are good and the microphone is clear and picks up my voice well. The headset is light, I hardly felt it around my neck, and the ear pieces are comfortable and come with a variety of sizes you can swap for if wanted.Charging is fast (supposedly 2 hours for a full charge) and the batteries seem strong. All in all a good option if you want Bluetooth headphones with a lot of style - the sound is good if not amazing, and they have a few thoughtful features that are great additions.

We already have a pair of wireless House of Marley headphones that perform very well and look stunning. The Uplift 2 Wireless in-ear headphones look stunning with their gold finish making them look stylish. The combined bluetooth/battery pack is quite large which surprised me but still nevertheless light. A selection of earbuds and a small bag are included.Charging was simple and fairly quick - 90 minutes for approximately 9 hours of playback. Pairing the headphones with my smartphone and tablet was easy. The sound quality is clear although somewhat lacking in the low end frequencies. I would be tempted to slightly tweak the bass if you have an app to do this.CDs and streaming music sound good even poorly recorded source material are forgivable. Where these phones excel are through podcasts and phone calls. I've been looking for a set of phones that I can use in the office to use along side my work phone - they work a treat. I had them on for hours and did not suffer from sweaty hot ear syndrome. The Uplifts are another successful product for House of Marley. If I wasn't too bothered about audiophile quality and just wanted general in-ear wireless phones, these would do very nicely.

These are my first pair of wireless headphones as I've recently moved over to a phone without an audio jack. My only niggles with the product are probably due to this shift rather than the headphones themselves, for example, I find it difficult to remember to charge the headphones frequently as this isn't something I've needed to do before. All in all though these are a great quality, they look nice and have a great sound. I've only once or twice noticed an issue with the sound quality and that's when my phone has been in my bag or a pocket a bit too far away. Easily resolved.I have previously owned House of Marley headphones and these do not disappoint.

I so wanted to love these but unfortunately there seems to be a few issues. Firstly, I will be using these for a While despite the negatives of my review. The materials, the feel, the packaging are all spot on. I was a bit disappointed that they can only be paired to one device at a time and that there was no battery level indicator but that’s perhaps an iOS thing. The thing that concerns me most of all after only a short period of time is the lack of range, I certainly do not get close to 10m, certainly in a home environment and there is a lot of crackling which is probably the most disappointing.

8.6.2018

These are Bluetooth; there is no jack or connector here. Turn on, press both sides of the volume, and a blue intermittent light flashes and it then connects. Once the first connection is set up, its relatively easy. The noise reduction from outside is great (highly recommended when you have teenagers in the house) and the clarity of sound is really good, particularly the base tones. I was really impressed with the quality of sound with these. I was able to put these in, relax and listen completely oblivious to the heated argument going on. Bliss....

16.4.2018

Good quality sound and long lasting battery life. The battery pack is a little bulky but it’s not heavy and doesn’t bother me. Only downsides are you can’t charge and use at the same time (only takes me an hour to fully charge them using a fast charging plug otherwise 1.5 hours) and you can’t see the charge level when connected to your phone like some headphones offer. For the price though a very good set of headphones which seem to be lasting well so far, would recommend

Surprisingly good sound from these headphones. The noise cancellation works well and improves the experience. I didn't like how they sit in use, but soon got used to them. The battery life is decent, but it's oddly built into the wire which is unusual. You need to have them close to the paired device as the bluetooth range is poor. Usual handsfree calling is made easy with the inline controls and they are a decent set of headphones that took me a while but I like them

My daughter instantly nabbed these from me, and I almost had to fight her for them! For the price bracket, these are a fine set of earphones.they come with two sets of the buds, so will be suitable for larger or smaller ears. I found the sound very nice, a good balance and no distortion on higher volume. The only little niggle is the quality of the little storage bag, it’s quite inferior but I suppose they aren’t often going to be stored away.

31.7.2018

Love the sound quality, a bass you can feel, a treble that tickles and most importantly the silences in between. Come with a variety of domes to fit your ear but unfortunately keep fallon my out of mine which ever I use. I use hearing aids to which I have no problem with the fit so not sure why. Convenient not having a cable to the phone but no cable at all would be better. But the sound was good!

20.6.2019

I am SO thrilled with my new headphones. I LOVE the whole ethos of the House of Marley and they’re conscientious fabric decisions. These are so comfy and was able to pair first time around. No sounds issues like the other reviewers and I would definitely recommend :)Bought these for me, and then different colour for husband and he kept “trying” mine and stealing!

3.9.2018

Ok. Do these House of Marley headphones work. The noise cancellation works well, even in the middle of a shopping centre. They are comfortable to wear, not sweaty after long use. They take about 90 minutes to charge, but the battery pack can feel bulky. But they do feel fine, the music sounds good and that's the main thing.

13.6.2018

For the price these are a decent pair of in ear bluetooth headphones. The sound quality might not be on point for those that have an ear for high quality sound but they are grand for the more casual user and at the price point that seems to be more the market. They fit well and are comfortable to wear without falling out.
