The handle is comfortable enough even when you use this for quite a long time. The jaws grip the sandpaper amazingly well, which I was originally a bit worried about before I bought it and even when it first arrived home - but I assure you all is good.Be aware that most of the sanding pad sheets that you can buy are too short to be gripped in this - I always use a standard sheet of sandpaper folded and cut in half long-ways, which has been the case for the previous hand sanders that I've had too.The foam base is really nice and firm which is a good thing for every application that I can imagine.

Living in a nearly 100 years old house requires constant redecorating. After hours and hours of sanding down walls by hand I said stop - this is ridiculous and got myself this little toy instead. What a brilliant choice it was! As expected from Stanley brand, its a great quality tool which works like a treat. The paper is held by two clamps which are very solid, maybe even to solid as it is sometimes quite tricky to put the paper on - that said, better this way than sandpaper being too lose.In general - a perfect tool for wall sanding which makes home made decorators life noticeable easier.

Brilliant tool. Have recently decorated using this tool and can confirm it is a good qualityStanley product. I used stearated aluminium oxide paper ( on a roll ) to minimize changingIt and worked a treat. The paper is held on by spring loaded clamps which are very efficient. I cut several lengths to the correctSize to save time whilst sanding. This tool is a must have for sanding walls in preparation for papering or painting. I don't recommend this for doorArchitrave or frames though as it is too wide but is perfect for larger flat surfaces.A good addition to any decorators toolbox.

The Stanley hand sander is a well made piece of equipment. The main problem with it is that no-one except perhaps Stanley make sanding sheets to fit it. The bed is 230mm long so sanding sheets need to be 300mm long to reach and clip under the end plates. At 80mm wide it is much narrower than a 1/3 sheet sander. The only way I can see of getting the right size sheets is by using rolls of sandpaper, to get the length, and by trimming the 105mm to get the right width. I wanted a replacement for a 1/3 sheet sander which had broken. If that is what you want then avoid this sander

Although there are cheaper versions, and any block of wood will serve pretty much the same purpose, it is very easy to use. You don't have to worry about the abrasive sheet coming off (they're held very securely), and the foam base means that, although its surface is level, it will also somewhat conform to shapes when sanding. It's not an essential tool, but it does make manual sanding tasks a lot easier.

I started sanding a greying garden table by hand, using regular sandpaper with a block of wood....very hard work and damaged my hands. This Stanley hand sander made the job a lot easier and held the sandpaper in a very secure fashion. However I am too impatient and ended up buying a cheap belt sander which has been fantastic and got the job done alot faster.

The reviews I read about this before I bought it said the clips which hold the sand paper to the pad were too stiff. They are stiff but I thought that was an advantage. The sand paper was very secure which is what you want. I found it excellent and it did a good job for me

I needed my spare bedroom plastered but couldn't afford the £780 I was quoted so decided to give it a go myself and bought this so I could sand down any blemishes. My walls are looking amazing and so glad I did the job myself and this little tool is excellent :)

I was very impressed with this item, bigger and sturdier than I thought it was going to be (Have used lots of different hand sanders in 30 years painting and decorating and this is my favourite of them all) a must have for all tradesmen in my humble opinion

Nice solid tool, great for sanding and feathering in filler and plaster. I like the clip system for holding the paper, much better than the wing nuts on others I've used. The product description also states this is 200 watts which is a nice bonus ;)

I bouht this to help me sand newly plastered ceilings a walls, i have previously be using the small foam blocks, what an improvement! Made the job ten times easier, and witna coup,e of rolls of sandpaper help my to fly through the rest of the job.

Had a refurbishment to my house, this hand sander did a pretty good job. However the sand paper did not stay flat at all times, it would get loose at times. Maybe an electric sander would better suite me.

Got a set of rolson chisels in my order and there was a free gift with them but it was cut off and some one has take in it dont think it was fair as it did belong to me as i paid for the chisels

Very well built, easy to use, makes sanding jobs a breeze. It’s one of those products you think you don’t need until you actually use one and then think how did I ever survive before.

I can confirm that the size quoted is definitely incorrect. However it does the job admirably, well made and is in fact quite a nice size for the job. - No excuse for Stanley though!!
