I purchased the hand sander to replace my old broken 1/3 sheets one. This has a molded base and handle with clamps and butterfly screws. Its a large sander suitable for rubbing down large flat areas which is great but it could be better. You can get a good grip on the paper with the clamps by the biting area is narrow and the screw tread is right in the middle. I will keep it but only for rubbing down the walls when I paint. I will be looking for another sander for my woodworking. I have electric sanders but for finish work you really need to hand sand if you want a good finish (retired cabinet maker) or preparing for an oil finish.

I have been having trouble obtaining a hand sander that was wide enough to take the full width of glass paper from the roll. Others I have seen have been designed to take narrower glass paper from pre-cut packs (more expensive, clever companies!)This item is a perfect size. It appears to be strong and durable. Not the easiest securing mechanism I have used, though it does grip the glass paper tightly.I have already recommended this item to a friend and have purchased a second one for myself.The product was also dispatched quickly by seller. All round excellent.

I adore this thing. I have a power palm sander too, and had a belt sander for a bit. This little manual device gets used all the time instead of both of those.It's very solid, light and easy to set up. The grip is large and comfortable. I've just completed a week of decorating and used this all the time. Usually I have it loaded with a fairly coarse paper which cuts through filler in seconds, then finish with a less course paper. It does all this quietly with the minimum of mess.

I bought this when re-decoating the lounge, and needed to smooth down the walls, having removed wallpaper, in preparation for repainting. I also bought Silverline Aluminium Oxide Sanding Rolls to go with it, and the combination proved to be brilliant! I have previously just used a block of wood and sandpaper for sanding down, but this little hand sander, especially at the excellent price paid, couldn't have been better. Recomended - especially with the Sanding Rolls.

This is an excellent little tool and I can't understand why the makers only describe it as being suitable for sanding plasterboard joints, walls and ceilings and which is all they were prepared to say when I asked if it was suitable for sanding floors.I went ahead and bought one any way and was glad I did as it was ideal for the purpose and, I would say any number of situations involving flat surfaces and all for a very good price.

Does what it says on the tin! Grip is large and comfortable to hold and the pad has a decent thickness and good size. Great for hand sanding large areas without the mess and fuss of an electric sander. The sand paper grips can be a little tricky to close and tighten whilst maintaining the sand paper taught, but not an issue once you get the hang of it. The paper grips hold the paper down well whilst in use.

After folding my sand paper over a bit of wood I thought I would treat myself to the hand sander. Wow,makes my life so much easier!! We are renovating a property so lots of walls to lightly sand after being skimmed. I didn't realise that I could make my job so much easier with such a simple tool.Would definitely recommend this sander.

Comfortable grip, easy to use, nice padded underside to it to give a bit of freedom to the paper if required. Worth the small price you pay for it.However, I noticed the exact same thing is almost half the price in Homebase. Hence -1 Star.

I needed this for sanding a ceiling and it works well. I bought a roll of sand paper and cut it to size to fit under the clasps (which are secured by two wingnuts). It's comfortable to use and I found the sanding to be quite good exercise.

This item arrived in a huge box with another item smaller than this one. It is not the best quality and it managed to break a corner on the sponge work face, but all in all it does the job. Only for occasional DIY work. Ok for the price.

Excellent hand sander, used it throughout the house while redecorating to finish off fixes / smooth / prep the plaster for the paint.Not easiest to mount the sanding sheets, but comfortable to use once you got it mounted. 5/5

I have just stripped the stairs and needed to sand the walls and did not want to use a power sander as didi this once and spent weeks getting rid of the dust this does the same job without half the dust. highly recommend.

Bought this as an alternative to the rubber ones where you fold the paper under a flap at each end to hold the paper but this holds the paper much better and I do not keep bashing my fingers when I sand close to an edge

I used a friends hand sander and thought it was about time I got my own, arrived quickly looks as it does in the picture but feels very light to hold which feels different from my friends but hopefully will do the job.

I bought this to go with the rolls of abrasive paper that Silverline sell. Great tool at a great price. It is so good and cheap that I plan to buy two more so I can have 3 grades handy to use whenever I want.
