I go into the loft maybe 10 times a year ( mainly to retrieve large items in storage such as suitcases ). As such I didn't want to spend a fortune on something that only gets infrequent use. I have an electric socket already in the loft so a plug in Mains inspection lamp seemed the ideal solution rather than a torch.So that's the background as to why I purchased this product.My initial thoughts on this product are that it feels a little fragile and that the plastic casing could easily break. Given I expect it to hang in my loft and not be moved about this doesn't bother me as the risk of damage is low.The bulb is easily inserted as the front metal guard unclips.(

I bought one of these for doing work in the loft. It doesn't come with a bulb but I knew that already and it says so in the description so I purchased the equivalent of a 60W bulb but using the CFL format. The advantage of this is that I get the same brightness but none of the heat issues. The cable was long enough for my needs in the garage and shed too. The handle is plastic but is of solid construction. The switch on the handle is illuminated and the metal shield on top keeps it protected. I know this as I dropped it one day and it suffered no ill effects. It's a great bit of kit. I could do with a few more. Good price too.

Use in the garage, have it fitted with one of those curly energy saving lights and connect it to a portable battery booster thingy with a 3 pin socket (no power in garage block), works a treat. Has it's own on/off switch, the hanging hook can be swiveled around to fit just about anywhere. The lead is very long about 6 foot I would imagine.It is mostly of metal construction so over time prone to rust I would imagine. However I prefer the metal construction to the plastic ones that are out there.

This light does what it says on the pack. Bought to use in the loft and it gives more than sufficient light to see what's tucked away, it's just a shame the lead is not a little longer, but we do have a large roof space so have to use an extension.It is very good value for the price, a little word of warning make sure it is secure when hanging, a curled hook is probably best to ensure it does not come off when moving about, broke a bulb by hanging on a nail...

Great buy for the money - flex is long enough to reach down from the loft to the hall socket & stick a 150W bulb in & it's all U could want to light up the standard size loft.There's a clip at the front that undoes to insert the bub so don't go undoing the screws or trying to poke a candle size bulb through the mesh!Can't loose on this one for the money - great buy!

We bought this lamp for using in the tent while camping and it fits the purpose perfectly. The hook is very handy to hang almost anywhere, unlike other plastic hooks that are too chunchy and positioned at the side not at the top of the lamp. It seems to be well built and sturdy and it has a on/off button. The bulb cage opens and locks well. Excellent value for money.

Very good, nice quality (although the first one I received had a dodgy switch), and extremely useful. The cage at the front is easy to open (let it cool down first, obviously) and the shield at the back stops you getting blinded while you're doing the fiddly bits with the lamp up close and personal. A fair length to the cable too. Very, very good value.

Very good value for money. Works as well as much more expensive versions and even has an on/off switch. We are using the inspection lamp with a low energy bulb to provide light to refurbish a narrowboat and although perhaps not as robust as more expensive versions it has a hook which means it can be hung safely out of risk of damge

Could be sturdier but it's built for lightness. I wouldn't use it in an trade environment but as a cheap, long leaded light for the loft or garage it's ideal. Fits an LED bulb if you measure up correctly. I wouldn't use it with exposed fluorescent tube bulbs, because it's too easy to smash the tubes through the cage.

To be clear, comes without a bulb and the front metal guard clips over on a hinge, so it's easy to access the lamp-holder. Appears sturdy enough for DIY use and the hook twists for positioning/hanging. Lack of glass cover is a positive for me (weight/quantity of light/ease of use - with a low-energy eq.100w bulb).

Fantastic value and perfect for illuminating our loft without the hassle wiring in a new switch etc.This is now fixed permanently to a sturdy hook in the middle of the loft - wish I'd have purchased this ages ago rather then running around with a torch!

Except I banged it and the bulb immediately went! Probably me being clumsy............or else the cage is not a good enough protection. Not sure yet as only used it for 5 mins in the loft before broke the bulb.Supplied quick and no problems.

Not the most robust lamp I've ever used but it's fair for the money. The odd horror movie flicker makes me worry about its long-term durability but it did the job I needed and will keep me going for a while, anyway. Good cable length supplied.

A very useful product for the price, its purpose was to be able to inspect the area inside the loft. This was achieved successfully and I was able to hang it up and use both hands for the job in hand. A very handy product for the price.

I was a bit worried about ordering this product because I thought it was too cheap. However, I am so impressed with it - it's a great little piece of kit and just great value! Just remember you will have to buy a bulb!(screw in).
