Ash can be split wet or dry, but oak, sycamore,pine and silver birch are easier when seasoned for 12 months and dry.

Early days but great. I have some logs that are just too big for my log burner. They were too big to split with a hand axe and I didn't really fancy spending over £20 on a splitting maul. I took a chance on this 'Log Bomb' and first impressions are great. Within a couple of minutes of arriving I had split 5 oversized logs using the bomb with a lump hammer.

Was slogging with a splitting axe, 20+ hits, barely a scratch to the log then the axe broke. Got this instead, wishing I got one years ago.Only used it to split 6 logs so cant speak to its longevity but that was just 10 minutes use instead of probably a couple of hours.

Great Product. Splits wood great. Some woods splinter and the log bomb gets jammed in the log--no matter how hard you keep hitting the wood--unless you've the muscles of Arnold Schwartznegger! Lots of hard work needed to use this product, keeps you fit. Recommended.

I had a look at some much more expensive log bombs and log grenades, I'm so glad I didn't spend more than I had to. This is great, I'm turning a mature, felled, beech tree trunk into a nice log pile, and for a grandma that's really not bad at all.

It has been effective in splitting logs, BUT I find that it seldom splits them into the 4 pieces as claimed. Most often it just splits logs in two. Still for all that it is easier than the large cold chisel I have been using.

Not sure what the difference is between this and the wood grenade but this is an effective tool. Ok the wood doesn't split into 4 but it has easily coped with all logs I have put in front of it. Recommended.

I ordered two, just in case! Really didn’t need to.. With a decent sledgehammer, these diamond log splitters, are perfect for logs, when an axe just isn’t enough.Very simple to use. Would recommend 100%

Delivered promptly and well packaged. I have only used the log splitter once so far and it performed very well and as I had hoped, will be using it more shortly, but initial impressions are ver good.

The bomb splits logs easily and never gets stuck like my axe used to do. Really useful when you start to struggle with the axe on larger log sections this bomb just takes over

I needed something to smash some pretty tough slices of tree trunk with lots of knots in them. This did it. Mind you, I had to buy a 14lb sledge hammer too! Great price.

Prompt delivery. Good design. Successfully split eight logs 300mm diameter x 300mm deep with the help of a sledge hammer. Now taken pride of place in the wood shed.

Brilliant piece of kit so simple and works well on logs like willow which are full of knots. Also great stress reliever. Bought an 8lb sledge hammer to go with it.

Used to split some really big heavy logs that my axe couldn’t handle. Put in the middle and hit with a sledge hammer and logs just split with ease.

It works! With this (and a sledgehammer), I was able to split large, knotty logs that I could not tackle with an axe alone. Very pleased with it.
