I can't help thinking that I should not have needed to pay the thick end of £200 to get a decent bedside clock radio, but it seems I do and with life being short and all that I decided what the heck and forked out. I bought this item because it is a DAB radio with a proper aerial (not a dangling bit of wire), OLED display (not a barely visible LCD) and decent sound. Used as a bedside clock radio, I'm really happy with the product. There is a lot of bass (you will want to turn the loudness off, as other have said) and it pulls in signals well in what is a difficult area for radio reception. I successfully played some music from my phone on the R1 via bluetooth and the results were fine,

I bought this as a bedside clock alarm radio. I mainly listen to radio 4 and I was finding that on my old DAB radio that it was becoming more and difficult to pick out the increasingly muffled sound of voices. Clearly I need a hearing test, but in the mean time this radio gives me what I need inorder to pick out all of the nuances of the Brexit discussion on the Today program! It is very easy programme the presets to other channels and from classical music to rock it still sounds very good. It is not stereo, but you need that you should get a decent hifi. Alarm and sleep functions are very easy to set up. The radio exudes quality with a solid attractive finish. This is reflected in the price,

I didn't buy mine from amazon, but I am so happy with it I wanted to post a review where people would see it. This is a lovely little stereo. It sounds great, it has a good set of functions (DAB, FM, bluetooth, 3.5mm jack, and USB charging slot), it's really easy to use, and it has a really nice clear bright display. It's just a joy to listen to, and has improved my kitchen no end. Highly recommended.

I'm sure I don't have the best ears for music but this Ruark alarm radio is by far the best I have come across. Music and speech comes over very clearly. It is easy to operate and I should know as I always have trouble setting up gadgets. This was a dawdle! It looks good and doesn't take up most of my bedside table like my old one did. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Only thing missing for a modern day radio is voice commands and internet radio. (Hence why I moved to using a Google Home). Other than being a generation behind the technology trends it is flawless (i.e. beautifully made, great interface, perfect sound) I will miss it… but I'm afraid I've moved on Ruark!. : (

A brilliant piece of equipment ... Does more than I expected it to. Massive sound when the loudness setting is used .... Only one gripe ..... The blue LED is quite bright for me at night (I like total darkness) so I have to pop a sock or something handy on top of it to snuff the light out ....

This is an excellent little radio. The DAB quality is the best I've heard from a 'bedside table' radio. It even has treble and bass tone controls which are a great help if, like me, your hearing has lost some of the high frequencies. It's expensive, but really worth the price. Buy one.

Bought this to use in a new caravan to replace a Korg iPal. I wanted Dab and Bluetooth and it delivers wonderfully. I have a hifi at home worth thousands more than this but I am happy with this for sound quality and ease of use. You will not regret buying one.

I wanted this to replace the radio in my kitchen which had just died. The sound quality is excellent, much better than the Panasonic that I had previously. It's on the expensive side but I think it's worth it. Build quality looks good as well.

Ruark have been clever with this radio. It is simple to operate and sounds amazing. The build quality is superb and looks great. Quite simply, you get what you pay for and this is no exception. Outstanding overall. 5 out of 5. ?

Great quality, great soundd. Not cheap, but worth it. Remote would be useful for bedroom use. Mains only. They should do a portable version.

Superb piece of kit, great sound and functionality - could do with a remote if revamped but even without 5 stars.
