For its size, this USB flash drive perhaps deserves an entry into the Guinness Book of Records - for the highest density of data byes per physical area for a USB drive. However not blazing fast as another reviewer alluded to although that review was well qualified by stating "Fastest USB drive I have ever owned!" rather than the fastest USB drive out there.I tested this USB drive against my 3-year old 16GB ByteStor (ByteStor 16GB USB High Speed "Dataferry" Flash Drive, ASIN: B000WZH880, I suspect discontinued and currently not available on Amazon). I bought the 16GB ByteStor in March 2009 - thanks to Amazon's online purchase history database. Below is the comparative test result.Sequential Read: 20.0 Mbytes/sec (ByteStor)versus 14.6 Mbytes/sec for this HP 16GB USB drive;Sequential Write: 5.9 Mbytes/sec (ByteStor) versus 8.2 Mbytes/sec for this HP 16GB USB drive. The tool used for the test was DiskMark which is part of PerformanceTest suite by Passmark Software. As you can see, the read performance is less than for a device over 3 years old. On the other hand the sequential write speed is faster by about 40% which is good news. In absolute terms, data transfer rate in the order of 5 Mbytes/sec or over for write should be good enough for general backup which this device is capable of. (Note that this is sequential transfer rate rather than random access or minimum/maximum average and only intended to compare similar devices).I got this item when the price was reduced to about 50% - for a "rainy day" kind of purchase when the price was irresistible.

Bought a couple of these a while back, keep the current Knoppix DVD version on mine for ad-hoc maintenance of assorted PCs and things as well as entertainment and a host of other uses. Did one for a friend, too. The 8GB is important since Knoppix 6.7.1 DVD version eats most of 4GB, leaving nearly no room for other stuff.Mine gets a lot of use, and stands up to it well. In particular the connector seems to be in good shape after many many insertions, and the casing is still in one piece and looks smart after months sharing a pocket with a Leatherman, a maritime shackle key, 9 other keys and other stuff. I did put some fishing line on the cap so that it would not get lost, and always put it on after use.Apart from that, it has to take its chances. So it's reliable. Probably not the fastest around, but nearly 4GB of Knoppix boots up in around 40 seconds on an old intel T5600 which is better than OK with an encrypted file system booting to a 3D compositing desktop. If I needed another 8GB stick, I'd go for this one; if I needed 16GB I'd go for this one:Hewlett Packard 16GB V165 USBThese are small but not fragile, and they do the job at a fair price.Recommended!

I did lots of speed tests and this beauty was reaching an amazing 35MB per second read speed which is a weird one since it's only USB2!It's write speeds are not as fast though, 11MB was it's best which is fine for copying over music and video. As for small files such as creating office documents, using a portable web browser, forget it, this things write speeds for small files is painfully slow. This has been designed for media in mind and that's what it should be used for.I got mine for £24 including delivery so i've noticed that price has gone up to £35 as of this review, however considering its size and performance for media related uses, even at £35 this little beauty is a bargain! For people that are interested in obtaining a 32GB memory stick for productivity purposes such as mobile programs and web browser, look no further than the Duracell Capless 32GB.Duracell Capless 32GB USB Memory DriveIt's not as small as the HP v165 but it's fast, made of durable rubber and cheap as chips at its current asking price of £16.97!

I have the 16gb version of this stick & now it's available for a great price I've just got the 32gb version. It's the size (or lack of it) that makes this such a convenient buy. It's perfect for my USB equipped CD/radio in the car.I've tried using other flash sticks of the more usual size but they stick out too far & are easily brushed against (which I find with my Kenwood CD/radio player causes the unit to stop & reread the USB stick, it's annoying). This stick sticks out of the unit by about 3cm & can be completely forgotten about. Perfect. It's USB 2.0 standard & has the usual read and write speeds you'd expect, it's not exceptionally fast but at this price for this size who cares,it'll get filled up once & allow for a huge music collection on the move.Nice.

Use a couple of these in my Xbox 360 4GB to install games on. Don't think there's a noticeable performance boost, but good gracious it's nice to get a bit of peace from the raging DVD drive! They don't protrude out the back of the 360 far at all - the idea was I keep them installed even when transporting it, and in the padded bag I use, it's fine.Had a couple of 16GBs of the same make in the Xbox previously - these still work fine. I don't touch them though, so can't comment much on build quality though I've read the reviews stating they just fall apart in your hands. Wouldn't like to verify that to be honest :PSmallest, cheapest, 32GB USB flash drive I could find. Happy.

Just the job.Very happy with my purchase. Was looking for something small and compact for storing movie files on, to watch on my netbook and laptop. Other usb memory drives tend to stick out more and are more prone to being knocked and damaged. Additionally, this one has no flashing light when working, which is a plus as far as I am concerned, as I find flashing lights offputting.I've knocked one star off though, as it is slow to upload movie files - can take a few minutes. Once on there tho' I've had no problems in playback whilst watching on my laptop. Had it a couple of months now. Time will tell how long it lasts, but for now I am happy.

No bigger than my thumbnail, this is a stunner. Hard to believe it packs in 16GB of data on something so small. The nice thing is that because it hardly sticks out from the USB port, it is less likely to get knocked sideways and damaged. A couple of friends who have seen me with this are genuinely impressed.I transferred exactly 4GB of data from my netbook to this in around 13 minutes, which comes to around 3 minutes a GB. Not superfast but 4GB is not something I would transfer everyday, so I am not bothered. This is a bit more expensive than normal sized pen drives but it is worth it.Size is everything and small is beautiful!

Great size, both physical and data. Appears to be strong, although I haven't tried jumping on it or running it over, it has stood up well to rattling around in a computer bag with other bits and bobs and then kept in my wallet. Copied some films and programs onto it for the kids and kept in my wallet. Play back was a bit slow and resulted in jerky viewing so had to copy things to the tablet and then delete when viewed. If the playback had been ok then I would love it, I may be doing it a disservice but I tried it in a couple of devices all with the same result. I will be getting another one, it's just too handy not to.

I bought these HP mini memory sticks to try, after being disappointed with various others from various manufacturers, I was slightly apprehensive, especially about the size.I need not have worried, they are excellent, very fast transfer rates, and the size is a bonus, no longer bothered about accidentally bashing them while in the usb slot.I paid £4.49 each for these, looking now, a few weeks later, they are £4.99, still good value compared with some sellers who are charging more than twice that, happy to get them from a good HP source.

This drive is faster, smaller, and currently cheaper than Hewlett Packard 16GB V210 USB Drive, but I would still consider the v210 drive. This is for the simple reason that the V165 is just *too* small, and very easy to lose. I speak from experience, I've only just located this in the bottom of a pen holder after losing it 6 months ago!As previously noted, the cap is also very easy to lose. For the price though, there's not much cheaper, and not much faster, so you could always buy two in case you lose one!

Great piece of kit. Good quality and looks and feels solid despite the plastic body. The transfer speeds seem to be good enough though I dont have numbers to offer. However, there is one issue with this pen drive. The cap is very loose and its easy to lose it. I have however, managed to circumvent the problem by pouring a few drops of cyanoacrylate glue on the insides of the cap and after leaving it to dry it forms a coating thereby making the cap tight enough.Very small, very handy and very cool.

Simple,No data already downloaded.just exactly as it says and I am really enjoying it.It also will fit alongside other USB items on my computer as both usb ports are very close together on my Macbook Pro for some reason.NBUSED A WEEK AND THE LITTLE LOOP FOR THE TAG HAS BROKEN OFF.NOW WHAT DO I DO THIS ITEM IS SO SMALL IT REALLY NEEDS TO BE ATTACHED TO SOMETHING. DEAD SCARED IT IS GOING TO GET LOST WITH ALL MY WORK ON IT.CHEAP FINISH TO A GREAT ITEM.

Small but big..... I bought this for use in my car which is fitted with a usb port. I was a little annoyed when my car dealer told me that the car only came with a single cd player having been used to a 6 cd autochanger. But at the moment, this tiny little usb stick has 83 albums on it which takes up just over half of it's capacity. I chose this item because it is less than half the length of a normal usb stick and is so unobtrusive. Can't fault it.

Brilliant little drives! Bit slow to transfer data but to be expected and not a negative. Very reliable... been using these for nearly 5 years, never missed a beat. Only drawback to the size would be that they can easily get lost or mislaid if not organised or tethered to a set of keys or similar. I removed the casing from one of the drives and bonded it to lego minifigure. Fits perfectly and looks quirky sticking out from a USB port!

10.4.2015

I'm going to get straight to the point - it does what a memory stick should do. You can import and export files on and off it without difficulty. The key ring on the end allows me to put it into my key which means I won't ever forget it for school. The metal material does get damages easily e.g scratches, smudges... But you didn't actually expect it to look good forever. Not the fastest but not the slowest. Would defiently recommend!
