High end flash at a much more sensible priceNote: The supplier provided a review sample for evaluation, the opinion of the product is my ownpersonal viewBox contents: flashgun, case, stand, clip on diffuser, user guideFor review I looked at the X700c model, there is a higher end model with built in radio flash- thisisn't present on the X700c, however it shares the full feature set in other areas. Everything youwould expect from an original maker flash is here first and second curtain sync, HSS, wireless bothdedicated TTL with optical and master and slave operation. Even down to some sealing around thehot shoe, though there wasn't any on the battery door. It's very close to the 580EXII in features butwith a more up to date LCD display.I spent a while testing this with a number of bodies, 5dMkII, 60d to name too. Honestly bar thedifference in some controls there were no obvious issues and the performance was close to theOEM models.Areas I liked:+ Solid build with good case quality/metal hinge on the battery door, rubber seal around hot shoe+ Fully featured with high speed sync, wireless flash (TTL master/slave and S1/S2 modes) manualand strobe modes+ Supplied case is well padded with a Velcro belt attachment+ Consistent exposures+ Fast recycle times 2.5-2.7 seconds+ High resolution backlit LCD display, audio signals, battery level indicator (though it seems to kick in only at lower levels)+ Wide zoom coverage from 20-200mm+ Significantly cheaper than an equivalent OEM model+ Built in wide angle diffuser and white bounce card+ Power pack port, PC sync, and firmware updates via micro USB portWeaker points:- AF assist beam could have a wider spread or a mix of horizontal/vertical lines- Plastic thread on the flash stand- Display Icons could be larger, viewing angles on the LCD are not as good side to side, manual could be better laid out/translated- Guide number slightly overstated, though still a powerful flashgunNotes:Manual flash is 1/128 to 1/1 power levelsFlash exposure bracketing and exposure compensation up to +/- 3 stops in 1/3 incrementsOverheating test:I fired 38 full power flash shots before the flash heat warning came on this was present for about 8seconds before the flash would fire again. Most flashes have some over heating protection though itwould be better to slow down the re-cycling times..it's not likely to be a problem during use barheavy users or those using a power pack. Some thoughts on the Pixel flash. It's a little bit more expensive than some other third party flashes, though it does feel like a step up in build (plastics are more dense case fitting was good on thesample I looked at), and can function as a higher end flash or manual off camera flash. There are afew differences bar the slightly different layout (fortunately it's fairly easy to get used to)The AF assist worked quite well, but the spread isn't as larger as some units I have used. In somecases you can find the red LED lines are not quite matched with the AF points. As camera modelsvary hugely in the no. of AF points it will vary considerably once you factor in the distance too. Itend to use the central AF point unless it's tripod mounted, 8/10 times there was a line to focus on.Most OEM makers (and some third party ones like Metz) use a pattern beam, this would bepreferable to the lines on this model.Slightly disappointed to see a plastic thread on the flash stand as the rest of the bundle is up to ahigh level in build, don't over tighten the thread as it could strip. Smaller points here but they areworth a mention if a new model comes out. Pixel have a good range of wireless triggers, and acontroller for radio flashes, if you're a heavy off camera flash user the next model up with the builtin radio wireless flash might be worth a look.In most areas not much to fault here I found the exposures very close to Canon flashes, a touch lesspower than their top end 600EX RT model (it's also a bit smaller), not a lot though and probably won't get noticed bymany users. For some shots I found the Pixel flash to be a little closer to the ideal exposure than theCanon unit, exposures vary between camera models but no obvious glaring exposure problems.Plenty of fetures to get stuck into here. The best part is subject to longer term reliability is the “nocharge” firmware updates if issues are found or new models released you can update the flash viathe download tool on their site. Metz have been doing this for a while, but it's about time othermakers followed as it adds a bit of future proofing when buying the flash. As the Pixel flash issignificantly cheaper than OEM units, value wise it's a winner too. I'd like a few areas tweaked butyou can buy almost 3 of these for the price of a Canon 430 EXII flash (a new radio model is out butit's near £220 at the time of review) The pixel isn't perfect but it's a compelling buy for users whowant high end features without the OEM premium that goes with that.8/10 for me as my final score

As an amateur photographer currently owning a (slightly outdated) 430 EX II, I was in the market looking for a versatile flashgun without the large price tags. Putting both next to each other, the size difference is apparent but expected for a high powered flash fun packed full of features. This is not a technical review as I'm more interested in usageFirst impressions for the x800c; Solid build quality throughout, battery door is easily accessible (4x batteries). Straightforward to swivel/tilt head with one hand - the rubber grip is a nice touch. Slight frustration was adjusting the white bounce card and diffuser panel - the design isn't too robust and I seem to have caught the white bounce card in the flash (I'll figure it out).Tests; Wow!First off the bat was consistency in firing shots - pivotal for the type of photography I do. This thing will keep going on and on and on - I had no misfires and recycle times were super quick! Using ETTL the flash exposed well in low lit rooms and subjects. Shooting in manual, flash is powerful with a GN rating of 60 (ISO 100, 200mm).Functionality; With some fumbling, the menu is intuitive and I managed to grasp it fairly quickly. From a cold start, you're ready to shoot almost instantly. The biggest selling point for me was the built in receiver and flexibility to switch between radio and wireless.Owning a Pixel King Pro transreceiver - integration with this and the BUILT IN receiver in the flash was seamless! Yes - Built in!! No need to fork out for an additional receiver on this flash for unnecessary cost and weight! Setup was easy - simply set the correct channel, group on both the flash and transreceiver, ensure radio/wireless are the same and Bobs your Uncle! Furthermore, the coverage for Radio is great unlike other wireless flashes which rely on line of sight. This integrated perfectly with my 430 EX II as slave (which is wireless) and setting the x800 to Master (set to wireless).Bottom line is there may be a few minor niggles and understanding the menu takes a while but to find a flash at this cost with the flexibility and functionality it provides...I can't see many flashes on the market doing the same and delivery similar reuslts! Hats off to Pixel was designing a great flash!!

I used this product with my canon still camera.Build Quality. Its medium quality material but is perfectly justified for price. I have seen Sony and other better quality but there are quite pricey. It is made of good plastic material.Usage Experience.• It was easy to fit on the cannon camera.• It was ready to function straight way without adjusting settings• Big LCD Screen to display relevant information• Its manual is well detailed, you can use the level of flash throwing out considering the distance and light of object and surrounding and yes to save battery life too.• There is a comprehensive guide book but I normally prefer to learn while using it :)• Good for beginners, small parties, outside and well lit areas with short distance.• Fully tilt function to focus your light and control the amount the light of flash you throw considering other objects while photographing• I had no speed issues with this flash using my cannon camera.• I took a lot of pictures in many different settings and I never had any heat up issue, I can see it’s a good quality product at this early age.Negatives• Its not like top built quality but it is well worth compared to price.• It's good for starters with short distance photography and well lit area• I had slight compatibility issue with one of canon camera but it was not a massive issue.ConclusionIt is an excellent product for new users or short distance well-lit area but it has given me an excellent photography experience. I also shared this product with my colleague who is a professional photographer. He highly recommend this product to me for my personal and holiday use. He could not find any fault but he recommend some extra accessories and some tips to get best out of this Flash.I will give 4.0/5 compare to big flash gunsOr 5/5 as value for money.

This flash is great for use when wanting to lighten up your photos inside or out.The flash gun is quite large as it requires 4 AA batteries to run. The 4 AA batteries are not included and either alkaline or rechargeable batteries are needed to run the flash and allow it to quickly recharge. The flash gun is made from plastic which gives it a matte look and blends in with most modern camera bodies. The flash has a display on the back which shows most of the settings along with allowing you to change the settings of flash duration and flash mode. The back of the flash has many control buttons and switches:4 Menu Controls - Controls the functions visible on the screenMode - Changes the flash modebetween a set selectionFlash - Trigger the flash manuallyOk + Rotation Dial - Select and navigate the menusPower Switch - Turn the unit on, off and lock the controlsThe flash has a flat base included which can be used for keeping the flash on a surface if not using it on a camera. The flash has a maximum speed of 1/128 and a minimum speed of 1/1 with a variety of options in between. The flash head also can tilt up and down along with twisting around to change the flash angle which is useful for more sophisticated photographers and photographic shots.Overall this flash is great for use with cameras as it allows you to lighten up your images with a powerful flash that can communicate with your connected camera. This item was provided for an honest and unbiased review.

If you are seeking a quality flash/speedlight for your Nikon , and are not fussed about 2.4mhz wireless trigger capability then this is the buy for you at vg price. If you need the wireless capability then the Pro model has that. This model has pulse trigger , excellent build quality, all the flash options you will probably (ever) need (1st curtain, rear curtain sync, etc, etc) comes with a soft case and soft light acessory. The ability to sync with lenses 24-200mm and a 60GN /100 ISO }. Amazing value.

Good material and assembly quality. The disc rotates in the direction of changing the value does not change at first - but it's not a mistake I think - as if it were a security solution. Wrap the right, there is no change with a click, click and you will start the second set of values, because it is backward. Interestingly, using a Nikon D7100 and shoot camera, the LCD screen is always lit LED, even if it's on the camera is disabled. Sleep mode can wake up the camera flash.

I had a Nikon SB-700 and YN-568 , I decided to buy this flash as my third flash. I'm using this flash with my yongnu flash triggers YN-622N and YN622N-TX it works wirhout any problem. It is powerful flash with a good build quality. I like the flash menu and button better than two others. I haven't test it completely but I'm guessing the battery consumption is more than SB-700, I have the same problem with YN-568 . I'm happy with this flash so far.

Great flash. Only two minors. The tilt and swivel is very stiff and I have to hold the flashgun when I move it so that it doesn’t damage the camera. And if I set the flash adjustment to 2/3 of a stop it shows up on the camera as one full stop.Other than that it is a great flashgun.

Good HSS flash, good build quality and value for money, however, if you wanted to us HSS off camera, there are not many compatible transmitters/receivers available.

One of the best flash guns I have ever used , works perfectly with my 750d and 1200d and have used it on a 80d with perfect results
