I really like this pack. I went with the shiitake one.Not a coincidence but I use it when I'm mushroom hunting.It is comfortable and fits great. I also like that such a small pack has mesh webbing to keep it off of your back.It holds just enough for a good day out in the woods.I can pack a 2.5 bladder, an extra layer, a small hammock, some food/snacks, my ditty bags for foraging, an extra water bottle, a small toaks titanium stove in a 900 ml pot, and other small items.I went with a previous reviewers idea and attached a zip organizer to the top. It really helps.It is small enough to not get in the way when I am off trail which is most of the time.It moves well with me when I'm ducking branches,

I wanted this for cycling as I can often disappear for hours. This bag is held away from the back by a tensioned mesh which is really good at reducing back sweat. I fitted it with an aquapack without issue as it has a well covered hole for the drinking tube, a pocket to hold the water bag and restraints to hold the tube to the straps and out of the way whilst riding or walking. I put cycling tools, pump and spare inner tube in the main bag with my art equipment and still had some space. The front pocket was generous too and I kept a few items in one of the side pockets (one either side) which I think are designed for water bottles. I had a very comfortable day out.I have also used it to commute on my bike to work with a change of clothes,

I've had my trusty Vango day sack for over 10 years and it's never let me down. But the time came for an upgrade.I decided on the osprey because of their reputation.I used it yesterday for the first time on a 17 mile hike in the Peak District, in 30° heat. I fitted everything that I might need for the day with ease, and as it has the capacity to hold a 2 litre hydration bag was a big plus. The first thing I noticed was how lightweight it is, even wit my gear in it and 3 litres of water, it was no problem, I could barely feel it on my back. It's easy to take off and get back on when you have a rest too.

Would have given this five stars if it weren't for the price. But the quality materials, construction, and lifetime warranty comes at a price. This pack is really comfortable. I've worn it on all day hikes and bike rides around Colorado Springs and nearby towns this past summer (in moderate heat) and the frame and mesh venting kept my back dry like no other pack I've ever used. The pack itself weighs next to nothing. The integrated rain cover (neatly stowed in the bottom zip compartment and easy to deploy when a sudden shower comes along) means the pack itself need never get wet, nor do its contents. I also have Osprey Momentum 32 day pack. (This 18L Hikelite is meant for my wife.)

I didn't know what to expect from this bag. This is my first hiking backpack and I love it! It's very slim but it fits a lot of stuff. I use this as my daily commuter bag. The side pockets expand nicely for my water bottle. The smaller pocket in the front i use for my keys and earbuds. Anything that I need quick, easy access to. The bigger pocket fits whatever I want. I eventually want to see if I can add a pair of shoes. Since I take public transpo to work, I walk a lot and want to wear my sneakers and put my work shoes in the bag. I don't think I could fit a pair of boots. I love the rain protector that's included but haven't had to use it yet.I do plan on using it for hiking.

This really should be a 5 rating but I chose 4 (maybe 4.9) because of one small design item. It needs another small zippered pouch on the front. Most backpacks that I've had have three zippered compartments going from small to large. This has only two. I miss that small front one where I usually put my keys and phone. It's not a big item and I should have examined the picture more carefully. That said, the backpack is great. The straps, zippers, and material are first rate. This is the second Osprey I've owned. My son claimed the first and after about five years he is still using it frequently.

LOVED this bag! I'm a mom with 4 kids and I used it while we traveled Paris and Rome. It was lightweight and comfortable for the ALL day walking we did. I was able to pack one outfit, swimsuit, ipad, chargers, water bottle in the main compartment with room to spare and the small zippered pouch at the top of the pack fit my wallet, passport, chapstick, hand sanitizer, and phone. The straps never cut into my shoulders and when it started feeling heavy I utilized the clips around the shoulders and waist to distribute the weight and I could go for another few hours.

Best thing since sliced bread. I have several Ospreys. Not this size. The right size for rambles with the husband and dog. Perfect. Quality just so. Would recommend. Was taken aback by the net that keeps the bag off your back. Makes the bag, when loaded, weightless. I am buying another for my grandson who has taken up serious hiking with grandad. You will not be disappointed. It’s the bag for keeping your back sweat free and cool on warmer days. All rounder really.

I purchased this backpack for a full day hike and it was absolutely perfect. It held all of my items with ease and I barely ever felt it was there. The special features like the built in rain cover, the soft lined pocket for your phone, the clasp for your keys, and the wide side pockets that hold my 40 oz water bottle perfectly all make this an amazing backpack. Do not hesitate, buy this backpack now. It’s comfort, durability, and versatility are unmatched!!

I was looking for a day pack to bring a few things on hikes, especially my Nalgene bottle. I’m impressed with the size of this bag because it looks smaller but can hold more than what I need. The best part is that I can keep my 32oz Nalgene in the side pocket for quick access and for a longer hike, there’s another pocket on the other side so I could take 2 if needed! I also liked how it didn’t make my shirt ride up my back like plain old back packs have.

Just tested this for our 95 mile trek of the West Highlands Way in Scotland - I bought one each for my husband and me. We both found them super light, comfortable and well-designed day packs - just big enough for day trekking use. (We had our main luggage forwarded each day.) Loved the rain cover and easy access side pockets for water bottles, the pole holders and the inside waterproof pocket for valuables, phone etc. Would highly recommend.

The perfect size for a day pack. This pack is well thought out and well made. The internal frame helps make it comfortable for hiking or carrying books. The way it's made allows for good ventilation. It has a good amount of space without being overly large and has plenty of pockets to stay organized. The rain cover is a great addition. Not our first Osprey pack and won't be our last. They are a trusted name for packs.

For day hikes, look no further. Perfect.Store all your gear, snacks, water and clothes for a day, no problem. Not super rugged as in drag-it-through-a-jungle, but for things like hiking mountains in North Wales, even in poor weather, this does the job exceptionally well. So comfy, too, the straps and Anti-Grav back system make the pack feel half the weight.

Osprey makes great packs that we often use for backpacking trips. We were looking for a good daypack for carrying essentials while hiking with our dog. This pack works great for my wife and she hardly notices that she is wearing it. The included rain cover is a nice addition also. She loves this pack so much that she won't let me use it. Very light weight.
