I own this pack as well as the Fairview 55 with detachable daypack. This one is very well made and surprisingly comfortable to carry even when loaded down. I like that it’s longer and doesn’t stick out so far so I’m not bumping into things or people when I turn around. That said, I miss the detachable daypack. I didn’t think I’d use it on the other pack but it’s very useful. I keep my carry on items in it in case I need to check the bag then once I get to the hotel there’s no repacking, I just unzip the daypack and I’m ready to go. It’s also useful in situations where they say it’s too big to be a carry on. I just unzip the pack. Now I have a carry on and a personal item. The main compartment opens up nicely so clothes can be stacked neatly on their own or in packing cubes. Besides that there’s not really any organization so bags for small items are a must. The cinch straps work well to keep everything in place. I do find myself wanting some pockets but I guess that would add to the weight. The best part of this pack is the integrated cover. No more carrying along garbage bags to use as rain covers and checked bag protection. It’s a sturdy cover that has its own pocket but know that it does take up some of your space. It could be removed and the pocket used as just a pocket if someone didn’t need it.I also own the 70L size of this same pack. This smaller size is more versatile and practical. The 70 will really just be for long trips or winter trips. This size is plenty big enough for a long weekend with minimal specialized gear. It would also work for a week or more if you’re a minimalist packer or have a place to do laundry and don’t really need to bring along anything beyond the basics. If you’re going for a week or more, especially in cold weather, or need to bring along photography equipment, snorkeling gear, or just about anything else the larger size might be the safer bet since it can always be cinched down for smaller loads. This pack easily fits into all but the smallest regional jet overhead bins since it squishes down. I do like to have the pack cover on to keep the straps clean when I put it through the scanner at security or in the overhead bin. I miss the integrated hide away straps from the Fairview although these straps are much more structured and could work for hiking.

I feel like I have won the lottery!!! I am 5 ft 5 inches tall, 130 lbs. My torso is about 17 inches from the middle of my armpit to my hipbone in the front. These straps hit on my hips exactly, so my hips bear a lot of the pack weight instead of my neck and shoulders. The chest strap is above the bust so that it does not smoosh things, a huge problem I was having with several of my other backpacks. The shoulder straps do not cut into my neck at all, another big problem I had with many of my other packs. I cannot even get over how many compartments this backpack has...little compartments on each hip, one strong mesh one to hold a LARGE water reservoir that rests directly against your back.(I'm sure this could help keep you cool when full of cold water! This backpack even comes with a giant extra duffel type bag for air travel and loops on the front so that you can bungee strap a sleeping bag to it, and adjustable straps to strap in a mat underneath it (SEE my photos!) One could certainly fully bug- out in this bad girl ;)

This has to be the best designed rucksack I have ever owned for travelling. Everything has been thought of from pockets for change when you're travelling on buses. A secure top pocket for tickets and passport. A rain cover that becomes a transit cover through airports. The material is hardwearing. All the straps you need to secure external items. Compression straps to secure the contents so the centre of gravity is right for carrying. Plus it has a fully adjustable frame for back length. The airport transit cover is not snug fitting, it doesn't need to be as airlines transfer fragile items like rucksacks separately. It has a handle and ID pocket.I've added a few luggage straps for piece of mind connected together so they can't get pulled off during handling, I've also seen posts from others who have used gaffa tape.Great size for moving around between different accommodation by local transport. You need to check in as hold luggage, but easy to carry once clear of the airport.

I was super impressed with how much thought went into designing this backpack. The available packing space provided is more than enough, with a back slot for a camel pack as well as a deep water bottle holder on each side of the pack (2 total). It also has a fully adjustable, breathable back panel for comfort and mostly ventilation. There is also a padded hip strap for added support with two little zip pockets perfect for snacks, a small flashlight or keys. It also comes with a travel cover/waterproof rain cover which is stored in the top pocket of the pack, which has a handle, perfect for traveling as well as a zipper to make it easy to fit over the packed pack. Overall,I think this pack is an amazingly versatile and extremely comfortable backpack to wear for extended periods of time. It’s the perfect travel/hiking companion. Worth every penny in my opinion and I would highly recommend it.

My wife was really excited to get this, not so much for backpacking but for travel. She is rather petite so a normal backpacking rig is way too big and bulky on her. This backpack is very lightweight and is small enough to carry on for a plane ride. A normal backpack is too small for her to carry everything she needs as a carry-on so she usually lugs around an extra piece of rolling luggage. With this she has her hands free, which is a lot more convenient when dealing with our 3-year-old. There are lots of pockets for storing stuff. She loves the hip pockets that will hold small items to be readily available without having to remove the pack.

The Osprey pack is very well-made, and suprisingly lightweight. It is roomy, and well thought out, with lots of room and great pockets.
