This Atmos AG 50 is perfect for 3-5 days backpacking – plenty of room.-Lots of ventilation – good separation between the pack & the mesh back support. Although you lose a little space in the pack because it curves in so large bulky items may be a problem for some people. We have no problems with our cargo. This is very comfortable. We have bigger Osprey packs with this suspension system & we really like it.-Lots of compartments for organization & quick access. Being organized is really important. It also helps to practice hiking with cargo around home so you can practice getting things in/out of your pack quickly & figuring out what is the best place to stash things in the pack for yourstyle/needs.Some of the pack features:-Removable floating top lid with dual zippered pockets and web attachment points.-Integrated lid cover, protects gear when top lid is removed.-Trekking pole attachment allows you to stow your poles quickly.-Adjustable harness and hipbelt to get a good fit.-Internal hydration reservoir sleeve - up to a 3L reservoir.-Front stretch mesh pocket stores rain gear for easy access.-Dual access stretch mesh side pockets for storing water bottles and other gear with compression straps.-Dual upper and lower side compression straps to stabilize loads.-Zippered hipbelt pockets for snacks and small items.-Lower zippered sleeping bag compartment with removable divider.-Dual ice tool loops.-Removable sleeping pad straps.-Sternum strap with integrated safety whistle.**Make sure to measure your torso length (NOT your height) so that you get the right size for your body. The right size pack makes a very big difference in comfort/back pain. Go online for videos about the correct way to fit a backpack.

I've used one of these for a few years, as it's become one of the more popular all around packs out on the trails. The suspension is nice and really feels like it's hugging your back. I appreciate the fully padded hip belt, which hasn't been skimped down to some lightly padded webbing like on the Exos and Levity. I also really like the clean design, with minimal stitching on the outside of the pack exposed to wear. However it's not perfect and I think a few improvements need to be made before I can recommend or would buy another. First - the built-in 'FlapJacket' on top is super annoying. I never hike with a top lid, and dislike having to also undo (and redo) the buckles every time I need to get into the pack.It should be a fully removable option instead. Second, I'd much prefer to save a little weight than have the sleeping bag compartment opening on the bottom of the pack. The fact that it has such a tight fitting zipper flap and no zipper pulls makes it more of a pain to get in and out of than it's worth. This is a recurring problem on other Osprey packs I own. Lastly, zipping up the hip belt pockets is a two-handed affair. Not sure what can be done about it, they're really nice sized and useful pockets, but the zips won't shut with one tug, you have to use your other hand to reach across and hold the back of it while you zip it up.

I was improperly sized and bought a large (i'm 5'7, 30 waist and 38 chest), big mistake. I went on a week long backpacking trip on the Georgia AT and carried all my stuff very well, I didn't think the large was uncomfortable until a past thru hiker started freaking out. Turns out the bag was waaaaay to big for me and I was carrying all the weight on my shoulders (so thats why I was so slow, hmph). When I got back I wrote the company and got a response within the day saying that they were sorry that I was sized wrong (not their fault) and that if I packed the box up and shipped it back (with a comp'ed return tag), they'd send me a new one in a medium. That was back in June, just haven't had the chance to write up. Other than the great customer service, the pack was great! Good ventilation on the mesh insured I was never sweaty on my back, the way the frame is though made it a bit difficult to load when synched up. It held up great, straps were nice, the hip belts pockets could be better but eh. The water bottle holder saved me from having to take my pack off so many times because of the way it is diagonal to the pack. THE BIGGEST CON: no sleeping pad straps on the 50, but they're there on the 65, whats up with that Osprey? The video is more or less to show you what it looks like and what went into the pack.

There's always a few niggles from reviews about the bag. Minor, no pack is ever, ever going to satisfy everyone. The big thing should be, how does this pack feel after several hours in the mountains. I had a Gregory z55, never really unhappy with it, but never really was awed by it. 2 tramps ( sorry, need to stick to new Zealand vocabulary) in my beautiful country, not heavily loaded, maybe about 15kgs, and I'm just downright in love with it. The pre molded hip belt feels odd when you first put it on, but it just kind of snaps around your body and hugs you like your best buddy. As soon as I put it on, it just felt like it was molded for my body personally by some kind designer. Sometimes,i just kind of forgot I had it on. Yep, everyone has a different body shape, but for me, the design of it just means it kind of melts into your body and it's a joy to walk with. Sure, maybe you want the top flap removable, maybe the hip pocket zips are a little tight, get over it and remember why you are out in the mountains, to forget our stupid little western complaints and enjoy our wilderness. Thanks Osprey, it just makes an older body enjoy his time in the mountains a little more.

This pack got me started on Osprey packs and I'll never look anywhere else. Every time I load it up I'm surprised at how much I can carry without feeling burdened or weighed down. It's a bit more complicated than a regular backpack and It does NEED* to be adjusted and sized properly but once it is and you have the proper distribution of weight into your pelvis it's an amazing pack. The anti-gravity system and really all of Osprey's packs with the mesh air flow areas are a godsend. I live in Hong Kong where you can pour sweat just waiting for the bus sometimes and regular backpacks just soak through immediately. The mesh suspension systems eliminate that problem completely.I do wish there was a bit more for organisation in the top compartment. Some dividers would help a lot as the main difficulty I have is how much things tend to bounce around and shift so I can't find the things I need while other things are falling out. The belt pocket zippers are a bit tricky but this can be a good thing in cities, especially on my little talon 22, you can store things in them without fear of pickpockets easily accessing them.

I bought this pack for a 2 week trip to Switzerland. I carried it everyday as a daypack for my family with jackets, rainwear, water, snacks 2 cameras, several lenses (guessing 25-30#) I'm 5'9 and on the short side of 50. AG Anti gravity-Osprey didn't beat this basic physics concept but I have to say carrying this pack all day was not bad at all. I've carried several different packs and this one has a lot going for it. The waist belt takes some getting used to, it doesn't stay open, you'll learn to anticipate this when putting it on. The top flap for you minimalist (Osprey installed a top flap when the top compartment is removed) was a hinderance to say the least thisreally tried my patience,it always seemed to be in the way but a long way from a deal breaker. I too used this pack as a carry-on for the entire trip Columbia MO to Zurich I believe Osprey nailed the load suspension, it carries well and adjustability is off the charts. I was able to carry this comfortably for technical day hikes in the Alps with a tight fit to the opposite for walks in the city. This is worth the money!

I had decided the atmos ag 65 was the pack for me for 2/3 night wild campsI actually ordered this ag50 by mistake , I am delighted that I didnt get the 65ltr as it wouldve been far too big, and I saved a few ££The 50ltr comfortably takes my 2 man tent , thermarest inflatable mat, sleeping bag, cookset, a 2ltr camelbak bladder and all the other odds and endsThe pack is easy to adjust and there are instructional videos online. There are pockets and straps everywhere on this thing, and its comfortable to carry fully loaded, straps are really well paddedI bought the large, I'm 6'2" and I did feel like it was pretty much adjusted to the maximum (apparently the large capacity is actually 53ltrs)I'vesnagged and scuffed the bag repeatedly walking through forests and haven't been able to find any damage yet which is greatAlso has a rain cover which is a nice bonusWould throughly recommend

this is a great day or multi day pack. It has bags of features ,very comfy to wear, distributes the weight perfectly, you do get a good air flow at the back but with all packs it's impossible not to build up some sweat depending on the activity you are doing . I found enough space to fit a sleeping bag a thermamat , enough clothes and food to wild camp for 4 days (food wise ) and a one man tent on the outside of bag with the waterproofs in the mesh at the back . pockets o the hip belt are good but difficult to close and rain cover could do with closures on the side to the pack hense 4 stars , side pockets for drink bottles are fantastic top and side loader. all in all very good pack .defo recommend.

This is a great bag for anything from weekend to a week out on trail. I have used it on 4 separate 5 day hikes now and its amazing! I bough this to replace my aether 70 which was just too much pack for me. The only thing i miss about that back was the top lid acting as a lumbar pack. That was perfect for holding my water, an extra layer, and my medkit on day hikes. The only things i wish the atmos had was the lumbar pack option (or the new aether daypack toplid) and the hip belt zippers to be revamped. My old bag had no issues with one handed use, the atmos seems to jam up most times. Neither of these are deal breakers, but they dont allow for 5 stars.

I have been hiking and climbing the mountains of New England for over 40yrs. I have had and loved many packs but the Osprey Atmos is by far the most comfortable and convenient backpack I have ever owned. The open mesh back frame not only carries loads well it is perfectly ventilated (my back never gets wet). There are so many convenience features like the "build in" rain cover, the hip belt pockets and the angled water bottle pockets (you can easily get your water bottle out while hiking) if you don't like to use the excellent water bladder pocket. This is my go to pack for all but expedition style/length trips.

This was my 1st backpacking backpack. I gotta say I love it, it almost feels like there’s nothing on my back despite having 35 lbs of gear in it. I was able to hike 4 miles under 1 1/2 and it was great. It fits all my gear but it could’ve been a little bit bigger but it works. It was a little painful on the way back from my trip but that was due to me not putting the straps right. Overall a 5 star bag and am looking forward to putting several backpacking trips with it!!! I’ll probably write another review in a few months after I put more use on it to see how the wear and tear is on it.

I've been a keen walker for around 40 years and had a number of backpacks over that time. I purchased the Atmos AG 50 for a long walk I'm planning to do in the autumn. Thus far, I've only used the pack on day walks, but I've loaded it fully in order to start getting used to it. It is already clear to me that this is an outstanding backpack. It is remarkably comfortable; the 'anti-gravity system' manages the load very effectively; and the airflow around one's back is excellent. Overall, I reckon that this pack provides outstanding value for money.

Backpacked Europe for 51 days summer of 2016. Pack was the perfect size! We flew American Airlines to and from Dublin- we were able to use our bag as our carry on - no problems or questions. Stuffed full as 51 days is a long time! Flew smaller airlines between countries in Europe- still no problems using as a carry on! Quick to pack since we used packing cubes. Due to the awesome back support it is a little funky shaped along the back- but no difficulties with it. Can't wait to start using it on weekend adventures :)

Love the mesh back panel. Wish it had webbing for mollie attachments. Perfect for a “Bug Out Bag,” during summer for approximately 5 days. Weight is around 40lbs total. You could go lighter by giving up some food, air mattress, solar panel, large knife, night vision device and large first aide kit. Could pack colder poly/down sleeping bag but some items would have to go. I was shooting for around 35lbs or less but may have to adjust. Good on my back. Highly recommend.

Sits beautifully when partially or fully full. Very accessible storage throughout and, well, it's just high quality from start to finish.I do suggest the buyer considers the next size Osprey down if they're only going this big "to be sure". It can carry a LOT of gear. It's almost embarrassingly empty on many treks. However, it is also excellent in every way and as I said sits nicely even partially filled
